We just so happen to find this place next to the hotel where we our staying at in Mobile. I ordered a Greek salad and it is Very Good. The service here was very accommodating with my husband being a vegan and they suggested menu options. The large portion size was enough to be shared. The restaurant was very clean and well stocked. Frustrating staff. - We arrived at 6:30 for dinner. Usually someone at counter to assist you. A young man in staff shirt was hugging on his girlfriend in the lobby area. Other employees in the kitchen busy. After several awkward moments and no attention, I see a self-service kiosk. (Nope) I'm not going to order for myself, then tip you. Staff continued the hugging and squeezing at the front door as i left. Have dined here numerous times and used to enjoy the salmon salad. read more

My dad is in the hospital and my mom has been there with him the whole time (4th day). He hasn't eaten anything but the breakfast (child's serving size) and she isn't eating. They love NEWK' S, I'm an hour away, I just ordered through Grubhub. I called the store to be sure the breadsticks were included (he loves them). Instead, I got a generic "Kettle Brand" chip in a bag about half the size, for the same price, and didn't have that good kettle chip crunch. Lame. I was first exposed to Newk's 8-10 years ago while conducting business travel in Mississippi. After several visits to a few of their locations, they've never let me down. When asked, I tell people that they're a little Panera-like, but with a broader menu, less of a focus on pastries, slightly more generous portions and without the hipster "big city" feel. True to their Southern roots. Prior to Covid, they had a self-serve breadstick/olive/salad dressing bar. Can't wait to dig into that again someday soon! Comfortable dining room and patio, too. They do soups, sandwiches and salads extremely well. The black & bleu steak salad is a favorite. Nothing healthy about it, I'm sure, but so damned good. Every sandwich I've tried has been great. For lunch today, we ordered by phone and picked up curbside. Easy peasy! The Italian sandwich was great. Same with the turkey bacon club. Both very filling. They have they own branded kettle chips. I opted for the jalapeño today. Perfect accompaniment to the sandwich. They make a great rice crispy treat, too! read more

I had the vegetable pizza and I would totally order it again and highly recommend it. The cheese was gooey and stringy just like a commercial. The flavor was great! The people working here are pleasant, hard-working and team players. So happy to find another lunch spot in Mobile. This location is well-managed. Newk's is a safe bet place to eat no matter who is with you. My husband and I were shopping and decided to stop at this Newk's in Mobile, Alabama, which is not the one we normally frequent. Going in, there were two people taking orders, but even though the line was short, the line did not move. Two ladies were asking an unbelievable number of redundant questions, and I think they were killing time while their to-go order was being made up rather than moving along for others. The other line was too slow as well, and one issue was that the order counter was not near the kitchen, so the cashiers had to go to the kitchen quite often to ask for or tell information. Poor setup and not the fault of the staff. Managers, this is an easy fix. Move the order counter where it belongs. My Margarita Pizza with Cauliflower Crust was excellent, but my husband's had basil which he was specific about omitting. The server was also the one who took his order, so we know he got it correct on the ticket and offered to redo it, but we just did not care to wait again. He picked off the basil. Not that big a deal (except if you are him). Another easy fix for the managers is this; You have to buy the giant-sized drink cup or have complimentary water in a clear cup. I wish there were a smaller option for an environmentally friendly paper cup as we don't need more huge plastic cups in the world. Also, as usual, a ghetto guest was filling up her water cup with soda. Clearly, she needed to be drinking water. The dining room was empty of guests, there were maybe 5 tables used, and appeared clean, but a pet peeve of mine is when the cleaning supplies are left out in sight of the guests. A mop and bucket were out, which kills the vibe for me. Other than that...the food was good, but I will stick to my Newk's in Mississippi, where it is super friendly and smooth. read more
