Location was super smokey on the day of my visit. I had to take my dine in order to go because I couldn't breathe. The food was fair but not on par with what Firehouse used to be. The atmosphere was not very pleasant. All of the employees were very friendly. I will give them another try because I think they may have just had an issue with the ventilation. read more

I visit this location a lot. It's close to my home, and so it's just very convenient for me. I come here so often that the friendly and amazing staff know me by name, and they're always pleasant, without exception. It's just a cozy place to stop for a good lunch. I have a few go-to favorites as far as the sandwiches go. The Meatball sub is quite good, and has a great price. But my top choice is always the Smokehouse Brisket and Cheddar. (to which I always add onions for that extra somethin' somethin') These guys hit the target with this sandwich 95% of the time, which is a good average. The only time they miss is when once in a very great while, when they're super busy, the grease isn't squeezed out as well as it can be, and it makes the normally exceptional white bread a bit soggy. But this is a rare occurrence. On this day, I opted for the medium sandwich and chose the combo with the loaded soup. It never disappoints. Quality has been going down for years and prices have been increasing dramatically. They don't even take orders over the phone with a person anymore, it makes you talk to a slow, monotonous, annoying robot. Tried for 3 minutes to place an order with a real person after pressing 0, like it used to be so easy to do being connected with a human immediately upon calling, and the employee couldn't figure out how to put any information in as she asked for my first and last name and phone number. I hung up after she said she needed to get a professional. It used to take 15-30 seconds to place an order. I was an avid customer of Firehouse subs, particularly this location, for years. I will never try to order from this establishment again, they have permanently lost a customer. I will be recommending against Firehouse subs to anyone in the future. read more

I placed an order for delivery through DoorDash. When my order arrived, am item was missing. The delivery driver told me the staff at Firehouse were "very ugly" to her concerning my order (?). I called the restaurant, explained what had happened, and told them my expectations regarding the completion of my order. Until recently I had never frequented Firehouse, not that I disliked the food, it just wasn't on my usual flight path and I had to go out of my way to get there or they were not open when I was close by. I love a Firehouse Sub! I get one every time I visit Mobile. I would say I am kind of a sandwich snob. With that said, I am always happy with Firehouse. I would equate it to a Subway...but so much better! I get the Italian: salami, pepperoni, honey ham, provolone, and Italian dressing: freakin delicious! I get it on wheat fully loaded without mayo and tomato however. Make it a combo with chips and a drink. The workers behind the counter were friendly and whipped up a good sandwich. I loved firehouse subs. I've been missing eating it since 2012. My recent one was in Biloxi, MS. It has been 2012 since I got back to mobile, AL and the exact firehouse sub that I got crave started disappointed me today with their service. I've ordered fast pick up or whatever the service they called it. I just thought hah maybe I'll just go in and pick it up myself instead of bothering them bringing it out to me. When I got in, there was 1 person in front of me and 1 man sat down, the rest were all employees - roughly 8-9 of them. No one greet me nor acknowledge me at all. 2 persons were on the phone and one girl just stand there in front of the register and didn't want to look up or say anything for a good 5-10 mins. Finally she looked up and said "next." I was like okay I'm here to pick up my to go order and she asked for my name and I've informed her of such. She was like " oh it's right there, you can pick it up" pointing to the rack. I was like uh okay. I just left without saying anything. read more

Firehouse may be a chain, but this firehouse is one of a kind. I've been coming here since they opened, and I've never had an experience less than amazing. For one, the employees are just wonderful. They're always so friendly and really seem like they love their job. The owners are the nicest and most genuine people I have ever met in my life. They care about what they do and who their customers are, and want everyone leaving there happy, satisfied, and ready to return. The food is always so good, especially good at this location. Never again. I have had lackluster food from this location more than a few times. But today was the straw that broke the camel's back. The meat has decreased to an insane point already for an 11 dollar sandwich, but today when I opened my to go order, I was faced with a steak and cheese on a bun that was less than 2 inches in width!!! I'm sorry, I thought I ordered a sub, not an anorexic baguette. I'm done. Save your money, go to subway and at least get bread. Oh, and better service. We had a mix-up when we went the first time...(new trainee) I wrote in about it and was promptly called and asked to Please come back in and we will replace you meal. The second time around they made sure our order was perfect. The were soooo Friendly and greatful that we gave them a second chance. They asked us to let them know if we had any issues.
