Unusual spot, located at the back of a health foods store. They have all sorts of wraps, bowls, stir fries, and other items. Lots of veggie and vegan options. My wife & I each got a wrap -- Jerk Wrap with Tempeh, and a Thai Wrap with Tofu -- which each came with a choice of two sides ($15 for each wrap and sides). Between the two of us, we got some hummus, baba ganoush, a soup, and a broccoli pasta salad. Everything came out in about 15 minutes. Both wraps were very tasty. The soup was really solid, but the other sides were kinda meh. Super friendly and hospitable service. Definitely a recommendable stop. read more

This is the hidden diamond of a cafe! Tucked away in the back of Virginia's Health Food, it's about a 10~15 seat restaurant that serves only whole foods. As I browsed the menu, my mouth was watering and I couldn't makeup my mind. I wanted everything at once. I was greeted by a smiling hostess who was so chill. I ordered 2 main dishes to go. Wonderful experience again at this darling cafe inside a health store. Had to get my order to go today, and it was just absolutely delicious. It's such a light crisp meal that doesn't make you feel heavy and weighed down. The chicken wrap and hummus are just outstanding. Wonderful flavors that compliment each other. (But would do with a couple more cozy touches to perfect it) I got the Thai wrap and my SO got the avocado melt. Both of us got the chips and salsa, and the side salad as sides. The lime dressing must be a staple, as I saw it on another review, and it was DAMN GOOD. (I added it to my wrap) Wrap and melt were both pretty good, and we were both pleased with portion sizes. The chicken strips were in foil wrapped up on top of my salad. That much I can appreciate. When I opened it, there was about 6-7 thin little strips of chicken. Seriously!?!! When I picked up my salad I had to ask for a fork. They didn't give me napkins either. *I shouldn't have had to ask for anything. None of this would have bothered me so much - if I didn't drop $18.23 for a salad! Thanks, I'll go to Newks or Panera Bread. This little restaurant in back of a health food store is actually a sit-down place, not a carryout window as I had guessed. They offer a menu of vegetarian-friendly (et al.) eclectic health food. If their chipotle black bean burrito is any indication, they do a good job of it. It came with sides, and there were plenty of choices. It was a good amount of food for the money, and something that frankly I don't think there's a ton of in Mobile, Alabama. I'm not really sure what possessed me to run into Virginia's Health Foods and order from Sunflower Cafe on a random Saturday afternoon, but I am so glad I did! I pass by here at least 4-5x a week, and I hate that I waited so long to try it out. The cafe itself is located in the very back of the store. Everything on the menu is made from scratch with all local, natural, and organic ingredients. The menu also included a variety of gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan options. The sever was very helpful in recommending some popular items when I told her it was my first visit, and waited patiently for me to decide what to order. The menu has so many options from sandwiches, wraps, and salads to stir fry and pasta. No matter what you're craving, you can find something. I ended up going with the cranberry-apple turkey sandwich, but the kitchen actually made into a wrap for me. For the two sides I got the baba ghanoush which came with pita and a side salad. Without tip, the cost was around $11 which I felt was more than fair because it came with a ton of freshly made food. I will definitely be returning soon to try more of the delicious sounding menu options! read more

Great little place. It's hidden inside Virginia's Health Foods on Dauphin. There's ample seating and a pretty varied menu for a little cafe. There are sandwiches, wraps, salads and stir fry. I enjoyed the Thai wrap, with hummus, and a side salad with cilantro dressing. There could have been more pita for the amount of hummus but it's still a good deal to get a sandwich and two sides for $12. Very nice place that lived up to the Yelp reviews. read more

I was next door at Planet Fitness and realized I needed to eat before my next class. I ordered the half chicken Caesar salad and a green tea. The greens were a spring mix, a very nice surprise, and the grilled chicken was SO GOOD! The chicken breast was seasoned very well and grilled to a juicy tasty end. Excellent chef on duty! The dressing was tangy and full of Parmesan. SO FREAKING GOOD! You could tase the freshness of the ingredients and the plates that were served were beautiful. My only con was the server. He seemed more concerned with changing the menu board than the customers. But, if that's the only con---I'll be back. I am not vegan or gluten free but by the looks of that carrot cake on display...I'd eat it. Definitely a hidden gem and it' OK if your a carnivore, they got you covered in a tasty way. read more

My mother and I took a day trip to mobile and being gluten free vegans we automatically searched for something auspicious to our preferences on yelp. We came across Sunflower Cafe and decided to check it out. BEST DECISION EVER. We both got rueben sandwiches with tempeh on gluten free bread, a side salad, and a side of curry hummus. It's what I always order when we visit and I'm drooling just thinking about how flavorful and warming this wrap is. And the salad cools you down with its creamy tangy dressing.
