There is not one thing that will warm my heart like Yellowhammer! It is comfort, it is celebration, and it is perfect anytime. The customer service and different seasonal mixes make for special treats year round. If it's summer-I suggest the pina colada frap. If it's Christmas, you can't go wrong. Mocha is always a hit, and the turtle is Rockefeller Rich.

OK - frankly this has been sitting in drafts and this specific visit escapes me. However, this I had jotted down when it was fresh in my head: Super friendly staff and unique drinks. We were passing by the city and I actually do love how everyone (the 2-3 staff that we interacted with) asks where and how long we are visiting - I assume it's obvious we are tourists since we are Asian people in a AL license plate car with Texan plate rim. But never mind that honestly, I appreciate the fact they took time to engage us beyond a typical How are you greeting - especially knowing that even as a non-local I can tel it's quite the popular location on a weekday mid-morning. Perhaps this level is service is how folks in line (we also had a bit of a wait) feel somewhat "compensated" after the wait! If we are back, we are definitely stopping by again.

First time here today and initial impressions: Cute presentation of the drinks. I ordered a King Cake Frappe and it had purple and green sprinkles on top. Very cute touch! A little high for a small drink (after $1 tip, $7+ for a single drink.) Although, that isn't enough to deter me from coming back. I think I need to try a few different things before I can concretely say how I feel, so stay tuned for an update. I am not typically a frozen coffee girl but was sucked in by how cute the pictures were in the reviews! I am willing to bet I would prefer a hot drink and will try one next time. Another plus was the excellent customer service. The lady taking my order told me they have a rewards program. Today I earned 1 star and after 12 stars, you get a free drink. I am always drawn to businesses that offer little incentives like that. :) I hope to find my "go to drink" next visit because I would love to support Yellow Hammer over some big name chains if possible!

Great coffee and the staff is so friendly! Would definitely recommend. I went when there was a line and it didn't take them long at all to work through it. Definitely worth checking out!

Great little waiting area.

While back in MOB City my little sister decided to be an enabler and feed my caffeine addiction. So, she introduced me to Yellowhammer Coffee. I'm familiar with the coffee because I have @instagram. Thus I'm aware of its popularity and the fanatical devotion of the folks around the Bay Area. Much like your cousins who never celebrated Christmas but did when they lived with you because their mama had to "go away for awhile"......I see what all the hype is about! The coffee is DAMN GOOD! We went to the store front on Dauphin Street and my sister led the way. I ordered what she ordered with cream instead of non dairy. Not sure if I stated this previously but the coffee is DAMN GOOD!! Smooth, Complex and Well Balanced. I went back on Christmas Eve expecting to enjoy another cup of that oh so delicious coffee but the gentleman who came to the door said they closed early.....I twitched a little as I walked away. You'd be happy to know my withdrawal symptoms were minimal. I need to order some Yellowhammer Coffee so I can brew my own. That will get me through until I can return to the promised-land. If you're curious about the name of the coffee take a course in Alabama History or just use the Google Machine.

This was my first visit here and the lady outside taking orders in the tablet was very patient and kind with us as we decided what we wanted because there was no menu visibility from where we were in the line. I knew what I wanted (caramel Frappuccino with extra caramel) but the husband asked for some suggestions, which she happily provided. We paid on the tablet and got our receipt texted to my phone within seconds. The line was long, but moved quickly and within a few minutes, we had our coffees --- and man oh man, were they delicious! That extra caramel really amped up the wow factor and it was ahhhhmazing! I forgot what my husband ordered (something with white chocolate) but I tasted it and it was delicious. I'd actually order it if I remembered the name, and that says a lot because I am a hardcore caramel fan when it comes to my coffee. I can't wait to go try more things at a future visit.

Yellowhammer Coffee Company is the best local coffee in MOB town. They have a variety of drinks hot and cold including the the Nitro Brew, frappes, espresso shots, French pressed coffee, smoothies and refreshers. My favorite is The Strawberry n'cream frappe which is made with real strawberries. The staff is hard working and super nice. Get the Strawberry n' cream frappe when you go.

Update your hours... I just walked 30 min to get coffee when both Apple Maps and yelp say you close at 7p.

For instance, advised that my daughter was shy when the kid hesitated to order one day, the barista brightened up even more and put the girl at ease. Whether their coffee is good or not is completely subjective. I think it's good overall, but it might not be my first choice in town. But it's made with care, and as mentioned, roasted in house. Its popularity speaks to its quality. They also have a very good selection of pastries and other goodies to accompany your coffee, including a Mobile institution--cheesecake from a local company called Cotton Blues. The only gripe I have about Carpe Diem is their seating setup. There simply isn't enough of it. That said, I don't know how they could use the space more efficiently, since the cafe is small as it is. I prefer more private seating, which in other coffee houses I've been to has been accomplished with the judicious use of plants or high-backed chairs. The biggest component of the crowded seating is due to students from Springhill College across the street. Today, for instance, my husband and I were unable to find any seating at all. Even on the days when we can find seating, being entirely surrounded by people working quietly on their laptops feels awkward and lends a library-like feel to the atmosphere. It feels rude to have a conversation at a regular level. I feel like I'm intruding. I don't know how a coffee shop should handle this conundrum, as it's really not good business practice to limit customers' time while there, or to turn away clientele, even in an attempt to please all of their customers. There is already a back room which seems to be an unofficial space dedicated to students, but the overflow still takes up much of the cafe. That said, I enjoy Carpe Diem and going there is a nice little treat. I would definitely recommend it.

The morning glory (I think that's the name) muffin was excellent chock full of nuts, spices, raisins and a homemade taste like carrot cake. They had a selection of chocolate as well. It was beautiful inside. It got busy on a Sunday morning with a nice group of people. Staff was fine but not super warm. I'd go back. It's great.
