Cute midtown coffee shop with plenty of room to sit and work on laptop or to visit. Friendly staff willing to explain items. I didn't try a pastry but there was a variety of them.

Latte love!

Give me a Coffee Monster Blondie latte any (and every) day! The hubs and I have really grown fond of the coffee here. We started at the mall location, and have remained fans. Hubs has dubbed CM as having his favorite local iced mocha. There are great sweets in the case also! Friendly staff, cute and clean aesthetic-- ALL IN!

Latte. Their small is 16 oz!

Coffee is really good and staff are nice. I had taken my sisters dog on a walk and stopped to get a latte. They have some seating outside which is good for the pandemic. All staff were wearing masks.

Really cute coffee spot in midtown. I got the maple latte with almond milk and it was delicious. Can't wait to go back and try more.

For instance, advised that my daughter was shy when the kid hesitated to order one day, the barista brightened up even more and put the girl at ease. Whether their coffee is good or not is completely subjective. I think it's good overall, but it might not be my first choice in town. But it's made with care, and as mentioned, roasted in house. Its popularity speaks to its quality. They also have a very good selection of pastries and other goodies to accompany your coffee, including a Mobile institution--cheesecake from a local company called Cotton Blues. The only gripe I have about Carpe Diem is their seating setup. There simply isn't enough of it. That said, I don't know how they could use the space more efficiently, since the cafe is small as it is. I prefer more private seating, which in other coffee houses I've been to has been accomplished with the judicious use of plants or high-backed chairs. The biggest component of the crowded seating is due to students from Springhill College across the street. Today, for instance, my husband and I were unable to find any seating at all. Even on the days when we can find seating, being entirely surrounded by people working quietly on their laptops feels awkward and lends a library-like feel to the atmosphere. It feels rude to have a conversation at a regular level. I feel like I'm intruding. I don't know how a coffee shop should handle this conundrum, as it's really not good business practice to limit customers' time while there, or to turn away clientele, even in an attempt to please all of their customers. There is already a back room which seems to be an unofficial space dedicated to students, but the overflow still takes up much of the cafe. That said, I enjoy Carpe Diem and going there is a nice little treat. I would definitely recommend it.

The morning glory (I think that's the name) muffin was excellent chock full of nuts, spices, raisins and a homemade taste like carrot cake. They had a selection of chocolate as well. It was beautiful inside. It got busy on a Sunday morning with a nice group of people. Staff was fine but not super warm. I'd go back. It's great.

She brought full two biscuits, sliced with gravy and two eggs on top. We said that wasn't what we ordered. Just wanted one egg on the side. She kept saying the eggs are free. "but the eggs are free!" Whatever. We asked for two Carryout boxes to take the extra food. When she brought the bill she just kept standing there waiting then said "I'll take this." Like we weren't supposed to sit there and finish our food and coffee. So I gave her my card. She came back and presented two printouts. Customer copy said "paid in full." I asked if she had already charged my card she answered yes. I asked why I still had a merchant copy to put tip and add if up if she'd already charged me. She said it's ok I'll just add the tip in on the charge. After she had already run my card?!? How does that work? Do I get an additional copy to check what she charged? "No!" It was very confusing and stupid me, when she said they have to do it that way I just picked up my receipt and left. Should have made her rerun it. And, breakfast for two was $44!!! Will NOT be going back.
