Spinach and artichoke pizza ; Tofurkey wrap with pita and hummus

We went for breakfast and were amazingly surprised by their menu. The tofurkey wrap was delicious and filling .It comes with two sides , we got red pepper hummus with pita and mushroom pasta. Throughly enjoyed our meal. Our server was polite and very attentive . I would recommend offering more options for beverages especially coffee. Would recommend to try this place if you are in Mobile or traveling through.

This little restaurant in back of a health food store is actually a sit-down place, not a carryout window as I had guessed. They offer a menu of vegetarian-friendly (et al.) eclectic health food. If their chipotle black bean burrito is any indication, they do a good job of it. It came with sides, and there were plenty of choices. It was a good amount of food for the money, and something that frankly I don't think there's a ton of in Mobile, Alabama. It was just a stop along the road for me, but an eminently successful one.

A hidden gem in the back of Virginia's Health Foods, this place is a must. They have a wide array of vegetarian and vegan options as light or as hearty as you could ever want. Everything was delicious and the staff was friendly- I will definitely be returning!

Best place in town if you are Vegan/Vegetarian. So hard to find a Reuben or even make one that is vegetarian and even vegan but this place did it, and did it well! A bit pricey with my sandwich coming out to be about 15$ but will absolutely go back because it was so good.

I'm not really sure what possessed me to run into Virginia's Health Foods and order from Sunflower Cafe on a random Saturday afternoon, but I am so glad I did! I pass by here at least 4-5x a week, and I hate that I waited so long to try it out. The cafe itself is located in the very back of the store. Everything on the menu is made from scratch with all local, natural, and organic ingredients. The menu also included a variety of gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan options. The sever was very helpful in recommending some popular items when I told her it was my first visit, and waited patiently for me to decide what to order. The menu has so many options from sandwiches, wraps, and salads to stir fry and pasta. No matter what you're craving, you can find something. I ended up going with the cranberry-apple turkey sandwich, but the kitchen actually made into a wrap for me. For the two sides I got the baba ghanoush which came with pita and a side salad. Without tip, the cost was around $11 which I felt was more than fair because it came with a ton of freshly made food. I will definitely be returning soon to try more of the delicious sounding menu options!

The menu has a variety of tasty healthy meals. It was a pleasure to locate a place in Mobile with healthy vegan and vegetarian options. The waitress is very helpful, polite and friendly. This will become a regular stop for me in Mobile.

I was next door at Planet Fitness and realized I needed to eat before my next class. I ordered the half chicken Caesar salad and a green tea. The greens were a spring mix, a very nice surprise, and the grilled chicken was SO GOOD! The chicken breast was seasoned very well and grilled to a juicy tasty end. Excellent chef on duty! The dressing was tangy and full of Parmesan. SO FREAKING GOOD! You could tase the freshness of the ingredients and the plates that were served were beautiful. My only con was the server. He seemed more concerned with changing the menu board than the customers. But, if that's the only con---I'll be back. I am not vegan or gluten free but by the looks of that carrot cake on display...I'd eat it. Definitely a hidden gem and it' OK if your a carnivore, they got you covered in a tasty way.

For instance, advised that my daughter was shy when the kid hesitated to order one day, the barista brightened up even more and put the girl at ease. Whether their coffee is good or not is completely subjective. I think it's good overall, but it might not be my first choice in town. But it's made with care, and as mentioned, roasted in house. Its popularity speaks to its quality. They also have a very good selection of pastries and other goodies to accompany your coffee, including a Mobile institution--cheesecake from a local company called Cotton Blues. The only gripe I have about Carpe Diem is their seating setup. There simply isn't enough of it. That said, I don't know how they could use the space more efficiently, since the cafe is small as it is. I prefer more private seating, which in other coffee houses I've been to has been accomplished with the judicious use of plants or high-backed chairs. The biggest component of the crowded seating is due to students from Springhill College across the street. Today, for instance, my husband and I were unable to find any seating at all. Even on the days when we can find seating, being entirely surrounded by people working quietly on their laptops feels awkward and lends a library-like feel to the atmosphere. It feels rude to have a conversation at a regular level. I feel like I'm intruding. I don't know how a coffee shop should handle this conundrum, as it's really not good business practice to limit customers' time while there, or to turn away clientele, even in an attempt to please all of their customers. There is already a back room which seems to be an unofficial space dedicated to students, but the overflow still takes up much of the cafe. That said, I enjoy Carpe Diem and going there is a nice little treat. I would definitely recommend it.

Very warm feeling with indoor and outdoor seating. The pastries and sandwiches make this a good place for breakfast or lunch also.
