My husband and I took a chance on this quaint cafe during a brief visit to Mobile. The staff were super friendly and attentive. The decor is super adorable. I love kitschy local joints. The menu offers some light dishes like salads along with sandwiches and soups. My husband had a wedge salad with grilled chicken. The portion was great. Dad and I drove over to Mobile on Monday to visit the Costco and decided to experience a Muffuletta Monday! After some dissapointing Google searches on where to try to best Muffuletta in Mobile, we made our way to Stevie's Kitchen. We were a lot concerned when we pulled up because the store front is attached to a school, but upon entering we were fascinated! The Mardi Gras decor was charming. The Muffuletta was a huge let down. Nothing about it was of note, BUT THE GUMBO BLEW US AWAY! HOLY SMOKES! We, both, agreed that the cup of gumbo that we shared was the most delicious that we have ever tried. I've noticed Stevie's on Yelp before, but never had a chance to stop by before today. My Dad and I had lunch there and we were pleasantly surprised at how great everything was. We both got the Philly cheesesteaks. They were just right! I got broccoli salad, which was very good. He had potato salad as his side, and I honestly think that's the best potato salad I've ever had. Nice little lunch spot hidden away. Stevie's is a small sandwich shop hidden in an office building. They serve salads, sandwiches and have a hot lunch special. Have been a few times and have had their lasagna and their summer fruit lunch salad. Both were great but I really enjoyed the fruit salad. It was loaded with strawberries, blueberries and other fruits. It was a large salad that did not dissapoint. The prices are on the upper side for lunch but the quality of the ingredients justifies the cost. Food was delicious! Generous servings, I had the tri salad plate with chicken salad, fresh fruit and potato salad. Fresh fruit was excellent, pineapple, blue berries, blackberries, strawberries and grapes. Husband got Cajun roast beef. The French bread bun was perfect! We had our dog along so sat outside. While Stevies Kitchen offers a nice menu selection, my friend and I agreed that the lunch we ordered, Lady Bug Trio, was overpriced and not a good value. With the Lady Bug Trio you get only 1 scoop of chicken salad ( they did not have the shrimp salad that the menu stated), 2 small side scoops (ie broccoli salad or fruit salad or pasta salad) and a whole lot of salad greens. With the cost of tea at $3.49 (expensive considering our server never refilled our teas) our bill for the salad and tea after tax, 15% tip server was not attentive), and a 3.99% credit card fee (that is high too) was $26.29 for one person for lunch. It tasted average. In comparison you can dine at Chicken Salad Chick and get the Chick (TWO Scoops of chicken salad for $9.49, a drink ($1.99 with free refills) and the total cost after tax and tip is $13.10 and there is not a fee to pay with a credit card. I just can't. Ordered the chicken pot pot pie. Had really high hopes for a $18.75 pot pie. Don't bother, go get a stoufers. It has much more flavor. This place is not as much of a well kept secret as it used to be. The place at lunch is full. Here is the problem. They cannot serve certain hot dishes when really packed as many of the people are business people and they need to provide rapid turn around. This should not discourage you from coming however. They could serve the chili which is excellent and the sandwiches (not hot ones) are also excellent. It was a bit of disappointment for me as their Reuben (best in Mobile) cannot be served when very busy. Despite this, an excellent place with consistently good food and service and in general nice people. read more

Hey first of all this is a gem. Lunch is cheap. I think my bill with a half and half combo and drink was close to 12 dollars. But, while the price is cheap the food isn't! I loved the grilled cheese sandwich -- I just happened to have a craving. And the salad? To die for. The vinaigrette dressing is homemade using fresh raspberry if you happen to pick that. I was late to knowing about this place. I very much enjoyed the meals I've eaten here. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I like that they offer Boars Head for their sandwiches.
