A great first visit for a few reasons. First, the food was tasty. Second, the service was good. Best and last, the credot card machine tipping was appropriate for counter order style business. Many restaurants suggest 18/20/25% for counter style ordering, this is infuriating as you are not getting a waitress, instead they have a choice of $1,$2,$3 or other which is an appropriate amount for the service being delivered. On our check, $3 was a 10% tip. Kudos to the very wise management here. We stopped in on a saturday just before noon, not very busy and quiet. We were greeted by a young lady upon entering the doors. We ordered a ham and cheese melt with chips and I had the Reuben sandwich with potato salad and a cookie. Both sandwiches had fresh bread and meat a very good deli sandwich. Having tried this restaurant a few times for lunch, I wanted to say that I have been pleased with the food, service, and restaurant. Even with a line, orders are taken quickly and filled quickly. I appreciate that ability to order on the app from table side. While a bit pricey, I like all the different options, especially the Choose Two. read more

My top choices are typically half taco salad with a sandwich (like a BLT, chicken salad sandwich, southwest chicken, etc.) I also really enjoy McAlister's broccoli cheddar soup. The sweetest customer service! I called in a to-go order, and ended up being SO late due to difficulties with my car getting maintenance. I called to let them know about my delayed pick up, and the lady answering the phone was so nice and understanding and remade/reheated our meals once I told her that we were finally on the way. It's Thanksgiving Eve. Yeah, I said that. The restaurant is full of people and only two staff members are working the front. They're doing a great job handling the chaos, even when other customers are being rude and demanding a manager because their time is obviously more important than everyone elses. I don't typically eat at a lot of chain restaurants, but I don't consider McAlister's a chain. I've eaten at the original location more than all of the other locations combined. They proudly display a painted wooden sign boasting "An Oxford Original Since 1989." The original restaurant is actually in the movie "The Heart of Dixie" which was also released in 1989. I've digressed, so I'll just get to the point. My favorite thing to order is the club sandwich and a side of fruit or soup. They have great soups. Their muffulettas are spot on and huge. A fourth of one will fill you up. I used to love the pot roast potato, but I haven't ordered those much since the potatoes have gotten so much smaller. My husband's favorite thing about McAlister's is the Rotel and chips because he just loves Rotel. He likes the Memphian too, but I think I'm still his favorite Memphian. My sons like the Reubens. The cookies and brownies are great too. Of course, McAlister's is famous for their Sweet Tea. The prices are average for a soup and sandwich shop. The service is always friendly. I guess McAlister's holds a special place in my heart, but I really do love the food too! I will never, ever accept that it is now a chain. read more

We were in town just for the night, a pit stop on the road to Texas. We weren't sure where to eat, and my husband was familiar with this place and is a fan, so we decided to stop here for dinner. It's a chain, so think Panera, but I would say it's a step above that. The meat portions on the sandwiches was very generous. But you could tell the stuff wasn't exactly fresh. Every time I have visited this location, the service has been phenomenal. The staff are fast and friendly. The food is always good. My favorite is the half spud max and the half grilled chicken club. I dined in and I was asked three separate times if I needed anything. The manager was working the floor and clearing tables because it was busy. 10/10 read more

Does anyone know why they have the word "Deli" in their name? There is nothing deli about this place. They have what should be a deli case, but it was just filled with decorations. I ordered the Smoky Pepper Jack Turkey. For a grilled sandwich, it was lukewarm at best, and I would bet it was nuked. The turkey itself tasted like the cheap prepackaged stuff you buy at the grocery store. The cheese and sauce on it were both bland. It was a lot like cafeteria food. Bleh. For the quality they are serving, they are wicked overpriced! My sandwich, Sun Chips, wimpy pickle spear and Coke cost over 9 bucks. Ridiculous! Went in recently for a light supper. Had a coupon for a free bowl of soup, which was plentiful and delicious. I'm not the world's biggest soup eater, but I'll be back for more. Sandwiches were also fresh and tasty. Server was new, but very friendly and made a great recommendation from the menu which I enjoyed a lot. They are remodeling now, but there was absolutely no inconvenience or mess for the customers to deal with whatsoever. Had to pass by several other good restaurants to eat here. It's been a while since I've eaten at a McAlister's and I have to say..... I REALLY need to start eating here more often! It was just what I needed. Not too heavy but not too light either. I mean, there's nothing worse than eating lunch and being hungry 20 minutes later! I had the grilled chicken Caesar salad and it was perfect!
