I used to go to Newk's all the time. It's been a good six months since I've been there but the quality and the quantities have really changed and not for the better for $20. I got a whole sandwich aside and a drink. The container for the Ajou was maybe 1/3 full. The whole sandwich was about the size of what a half sandwich used to be with them. The quality was just OK and very little meat on my sandwich. For the money I could've gotten two sub sandwiches somewhere else along with the side and drink. read more

Horrible experience due to the employees. We walked in at 7:24pm (establishment closes at 8pm) manager is telling the line in front of us to hurry because they are about to close. Manager proceeds to lock us in the restaurant. (Not safe) Half of the order comes out in a to-go container because they have stopped serving in dishes for the evening for some reason. The table beside us receives half of their order in to go containers and the other half in dishes. The other half of our order comes out half cooked in a to go dish with hair in it. Manager was rushing around the dining room and dragging bathroom trash past people who were eating making everyone very uncomfortable. Both meals were below average and not Newk's typical quality. Love this place for a quick-ish lunch! Their menu is to the left when you walk in on these big boards but, if you go up to the cash register, they have printed menus you can peruse and you can ask any questions at the counter. The choose 2 menu is pretty standard. I usually get the Caesar salad and a half Newk's Q (which is a bold little Sammie with chicken, white barbecue sauce that is perfectly seasoned, and some crusty-but not too crusty bread) but yesterday it was sooo cold that I ordered the tortilla soup. It did not disappoint! My all time favorite (pun intended) is the Newk's Favorite salad. The only thing I wish is that the Newk's Favorite came in a smaller size or as a side to the other menu items. It is gargantuan and it's $10 and with the salad dressing all over it, doesn't save well. (sad face emoji) Still can't complain too much...I love it here! read more

I really enjoyed my visit to Newk's. There were some good sandwich choices & it was hard for me to choose. I ordered the Royal with a side of pasta salad. We frequently eat at Newks but I will never order a Greek Salad again. It did not have the Greek Salad dressing usually on Greek Salads and there were no cucumbers either. Newks can be amazing, but honestly it's about 50/50. All the locations we've been to outside of Mobile are amazing, with good portion sizes and fresh ingredients. Too many times though we've paid $9 for a sandwich that is wrong or has wilted ingredients on it. The prices are a little high for just a sandwich, and they don't put that much meat on them either. Their side items are really small too for the price. I've ordered fruit cups several times only to find a couple grapes and a piece of honeydew melon. For $2 something, that's a bit much. I think the Mobile locations could really turn around if they just worked on consistency and maybe their staff. They really could have the potential to be really good! read more

A good place for lunch. Newk's never disappoints. I got the 1/2 Newk Q Sandwich and lobster bisque. The sandwich comes with sliced chicken, bacon, swiss, and white bbq sauce, on a perfectly fresh French roll. I had to take my husband to the airport so we stopped in for lunch. This i s the new store by Academy and UJ Chevrolet. The service was quicker than the McGregor store and we ordered the usuals...Mediterranean Pizza for him and Black & Bleu salad for me. The pizza was very good..lots of toppings and those delicious Kalamata olives. My salad was big and full of fresh ingredients. My only negative was the dressing...It was bland...very bland. Bleu cheese dressing needs to have a "bite" and this barely had a mayo flavor. No crumbles either. The sirloin was cooked perfectly and generous. Tweak that dressing and you've got a winner!
