I've been to the Tigers Bar and Grill a few times. Each time I've been there I've had some pretty good food. On a whim I decided to try this place again and get something I've never had. This time I ordered the parrilla mixta. As per usual, I did a takeout order. The service is always quick and when I arrived my food was ready to go. When I got in the car the aroma of the food was tempting me to pullover and eat my food on the side of the road. I didn't do that. When I got home, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the food. The parrilla mixta is bunch of meat (steak, chicken, chorizo and pork) with coleslaw, plaintain toston, fried yucca, fried arepita, and llanero cheese. I'll admit it is a weird combination of food that I'm not used to but it works. I ate every bit of food on my plate. That's a big deal. There was so much. The best part? The meat you guessed it. Wanting to try something different for lunch, decided to stop in. I had a peach tea and Albondigas. The Albondigas was a lunch special for $10.99. The peach tea was very "peachy" and good. It leaned more towards a peach juice drink which was fine as it was very good. The entree was good also. We've been in Mobile for a couple of years now, and have missed our favorite Venezuelan restaurant in Denver; we were so glad to have found this place! The restaurant feels both spacious and cozy at the same time--they have a wall covered in faux greenery and a cheerful little neon sign. There are three TV's, only one of which had the sound on--which made us happy, because we're not big fans of TV's in restaurants (they tend to easily overwhelm a place and be distracting). The volume on the one TV was not overwhelming, so it was nice to be able to talk to each other without raising our voices and repeating ourselves. There is a LOT to choose from on their menu, and it was difficult to pick just one thing--so many things sounded good. It is a little on the pricey side, but worth it for a special (or any) occasion. We had the Bandeja Mixta appetizer (a combination plate of fried yucca, plantains, arepitas, and sauces) that was very good. We'd never had yucca before, but it won't be our last time. For our entrees, my dining partner and I chose arepas (grilled corn cakes) -- he had the fried pork arepa, and I had the Pabellón, which was shredded beef, black beans, plantain and cheese. We both loved our arepas. It was hard to pick up my arepa (as one would a sandwich)--the contents were overflowing and dripping onto the table, LOL. Black beans everywhere, but worth it. The beef was tender, juicy and flavorful, and the fried plantain was a great addition (slightly sweet, and starchier/milder than a banana). My partner had a large passion fruit drink, another first for us. It tasted like a very mild and sweeter version of grapefruit, to me. It was great to find someplace different amidst all of the fried chicken, seafood and BBQ places in Mobile--many of which are very good, but variety is the spice of life. read more

Especially the tequenos, which are fried cheese sticks. The parilla de carne came out super tender and delicious. My teens had arepas pelua, and empanadas, both which were popular. I especially recommend the arapas for kids. I had the pabellon criollo, a traditional plate with black beans, shredded beef, rice and plantains. It was perfect, very well seasoned. We decided to stop here because we were craving something different to eat. As soon as we stepped inside, we were impressed by how clean and neat everything looked. The owners were very nice and gave us great recommendations on what to order. The food arrived pretty fast and we were happy to find fresh and delicious food. Everything was made to order and full of flavor. The portions are substantial and we all had leftovers. After eating, we stopped at the register where they have traditional Venezuelan candies and other goodies and I couldn't help myself from trying some of their candy. Popped in for lunch after a hard work week and hoped for a beer and a sandwich, but unfortunately, they were no longer serving alcohol due to a competitors low blow. The food was pretty good. One of the plates we ordered was a little too greasy & I could have done without the ketchup on my sandwich, but let me tell you everything was so clean. We had the Cachapas, Cochino Frito - it was ridiculously good and enough food to survive for 2 to 3 days without caloric restrictions. Pay attention Preppers! Parrilla Mixta - same as above and the yuka and plantains were amazing as well. Pepito's, Lomito - almost the same as above except steak only (their marinating is 2nd to none) and it should keep you fed for a week! Aripa The Tigers "La Cabinets" - delicious as with everything else. This is huge so don't expect to fold and eat. Back to 3 days of food with this one. The juices are quite good as well!
