I've gone to this place a few times and I specifically go for the the Laos food. Only place in my city I can get this kind of food and they never let me down! I made an uber eats order and the extra chili oil I paid for wasn't in the order. I make an order today and advise them of this. I had to explain several times with them telling me it's in the bag. They then tried to give me a small one. I explained to them I want the one that I paid for in my previous order. The lady then told me to call immediately when I notice something missin. I don't feel that is my job and that's why I told them when I made another order. I didn't appreciate the looks I was given like I was trying to get something for free. This was an amazing restaurant serving authentic Lao (Laotian) cuisine, they also have an amazing selection of Vietnamese and Thai dishes. This is a great place if you want to try regional authentic Southeast Asian cuisine. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The Chef was amazing! we ordered Lao beef jerky (seen savahn) as appetizer - it was delicious. We also ordered the Sai Gok combo which came with Lao sausage, papaya salad, and stick rice. We also ordered the national dish of Laos - pork Laab with sticky rice. it was as spicy, so if you don't like that they can make it less spicy. I was so excited to write this review because I honestly have so much good things to say about the food here. I ordered Khao Piek, Pad Thai, Iced Thai tea, and also Laos Style Papaya salad. First off, the Khao Piek WAS SOOOOO GOOD. The chef put the PERFECT amount of noodles, chicken, thin slices of ginger, and pork blood in there. It was PIPING HOT when I got it out of the to go container. I was enjoying this noodle soup so much to the point where I didn't even care about the tiny piece of hair I've found tied around one of my noodles. I just took it out and kept eating because it was THAT good. I originally came from Oakland, California and it was very rare of me to find somewhere in Alabama that served Khao Piek. I was so happy to find this gem through Yelp&google! Second dish I tried was the Lao style papaya salad. I only ate a little bit because I'm preggo and didn't want to eat something super spicy and I gave it to my husband. They do offer Thai style too but the lady on the phone said Laos was more popular so that's what I went with. &LET ME TELL YOU. ORDER THIS DISH BECAUSE IT WAS THE BOMB!!!! It tasted exactly like how the restaurant at my hometown makes it. Spicy and a little kick of lime does wonders to my taste buds!!! It was the perfect amount with extra limes added. Third dish I tried (Again, gotta repeat that I'm pregnant so I eat a lot during the day) was the Pad Thai. I ordered through the phone and asked for SHRIMP & CHICKEN pad Thai. What I got was beef mixed with sliced chicken. I AIN'T COMPLAINING BECAUSE IT WAS STILL GOOD. I never had beef pad Thai before so it opened my mind a little bit and I'll probably order it again in the near future. Maybe they ran out of shrimp and replaced it with beef or she couldn't hear me correctly through the phone, who knows. The only surprise I had with this dish was the spiciness. I didn't really know that spicy pad Thai was a thing but I guess it is here because the pad Thai I'm use to is sweet. I couldn't finish the dish because it was too spicy and I had to down it with my Thai tea, but if I wasn't preggo; I'd probably devour the whole thing. Also gave this dish to my husband and he loved it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! I ordered to go, they do accept card and they took only 15 mins to finish making my food. There's a parking lot for your convenience as well. Saw this place was under new ownership so the previous 3 star review isn't really fair any longer. For starters - Service was much better than the previous visit when they received 3 stars. It may have just been the day but it all flew by quite well. Food was great and communication was useful in expressing that I wanted vegetarian food(and sure enough, it was!). My only suggestion would be, like I suggested with the previous owner, just add a Vegetarian section to the menu for a pho and I'd be a happy camper. It could be good or bad, but I decided to dine in. I had tofu and veggie pho and thought it was pretty good. It was cooked with veggie broth and had fair amount of vegetables. We found this place when we were evacuated from New Orleans after the hurricane and instantly fell in love. The food is amazing, the people are lovely and the atmosphere is inviting and friendly. They've recently opened back up since COVID-19 started but this time with new owners. They've renovated inside and it looks much better than before. Also the menu has changed quite a bit. Photos are added to show the updated menu. Even though the menu offered a lot of new items, it mainly offered a lot of Thai dishes and this restaurant is supposed to be a Vietnamese restaurant hence the name. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, that's usually my go-to cuisine and it was really good. It had great flavor, plenty of meats and they offered all the veggies that are supposed to come with it. I'd come back for a bowl of this and I'll try some Laotian food next time because I've never had that before. read more

This is an outstanding place. It's hands down the most fresh and authentic Thai food I've ever had. They actually do pho better than Vietnamese restaurants. Check out the two photos I'm going to upload which is the papaya salad and wrapped sugar cane which is phenomenal. I saw the only two bad reviews and it appears to be from competitors. Lol. That's when you know you found a good restaurant! They created an account solely to rag on this place and then promote their restaurant. (No other reviews from those parties besides jealousy reviews) I'm a local reviewer out of Texas that moved to Mobile Alabama and to came to Pho88 before the new owners a month ago. The previous owners did a good job but the new owner "mama" I like to call her, sits down with her customers, listens to what they have to say and can do absolutely anything you want when it comes to cooking. It's always absolutely fresh. I think my favorite dish has to be the coconut chicken soup and the pad pa which, do not be confused when I say it is fish... it's a type of fried fish that is simply phenomenal. If you're afraid of not knowing what to order simply Google any type of amazing Thai dish and write down the name before coming in and I guarantee you they can make it. The pho hit the spot. They didn't short me on any meat at all. In fact, I had a piece of meat with just about every bite. The wait time was incredibly low on all of the food and the portion sizes were huge. The waitress was incredibly sweet and she did her absolute best. When I say absolute best, I mean that the sodas were flat. Tasted like RC left out without the top for 2 days, then was put back in the fridge later. I tried the Dr. Pepper and Coke, but both were flat. I swapped to water and she was very apologetic. I felt bad for having her swap my drink out twice. Regardless, it was a great dining experience and the lackluster fountain drinks didn't ruin the vibe. If anything, it made me take a healthier choice.
