This is probably one of my new favorite places for pho. Met a friend here, ordered a large pho and some spring rolls for an appetizer. I added shrimp to my pho, which they un[[HIGHLIGHT]]derstandably charge extra for, but they cut the shrimp in half... Seems rat[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]her cheap of them to do so, and it's not worth the extra cost if I'm not getting whole shrimp for it. I was craving some Vietnamese food. I don't remember the last time I had it. With that in mind I decided to look up Vietnamese restaurants. Pot Au Pho was the nearest place to me. I looked at the menu and the medium hue style noodle soup caught my eye. It just looked really enticing. Also I saw that they offered a pork skin roll and that really intrigued me. I ordered the soup and the pork skin roll. When I got there my food was ready. I got back in my car and the aroma coming from the bag was amazing. I couldn't wait to get home. When I did reach home I was eager to take part in the soup and the roll. I tried the pork skin roll first. It came with a kind of vinegar sauce. The name escape me but it was really good. The roll was excellent. I can't believe and I heard of these before. The hue style noodle soup was so savory. The noodles with the broth, onions, and beef were a perfect combination. The pho there is mediocre to most Asians but great for the rest of the non Asians. It's because we have many other restaurants to compare to. I will say that their beef stew with French bread was very tasty compared to other places. A must try. Order your food as soon as you order your drinks otherwise it will take forever. Relaxed and delicious late 2-3 pm pho lunch with fresh spring rolls. Today I opted for the rare steak and meatball pho / medium. And by medium I mean huge! I took a few breaks but opted to slurp the delicate, aromatic broth rather than try and finish the noodles. The meats were a little overcooked in this dish and their tea (sweet/unsweet) urn could probably benefit from cleaning. So this will be a 3 star review. The springrolls with peanut sauce were solid and I even got a dish to go for dinner (C5 on todays menu - steamed rice with grilled pork chop and fish cake. It also included the sunny egg pictured) as well as a salad and a noodle fried thingee. This was recommended by a Vietnamese friend. I took a nibble and discovered a yummy chop. The fish cake was adventurous but not for me. The fried noodles had a consistency that was probably authentic but my mind couldn't accept. I think the more plain version of this dish would appeal to southern palates. The restaurant was busy even at the odd hour and people were enjoying a variety of dishes. The dining room was super neat and clean and staff was beyond pleasant and accommodating. I had a great experience here and my neighboring table decided to get my pho order next time! read more

Quality of food has slowly been going downhill. The serving sizes of meat in the pho is laughable. They used to do at least half sized meatballs but in the last couple of years they changed to quarter sized but still charging the same price. read more

Best Pho in Mobile I initially left a bad review before because they didn't answer my call and wouldn't take my order close to closing time, but I've kept coming back for takeout because their chicken pho is amazing! The quality of the meat they use is way better than other places nearby. Even though they close their kitchen about 30 minutes to an hour before the posted closing time, the food is always fresh and made with top-notch ingredients. First time a I ordered a beef option and it had beef balls in it and all the regular items when it comes to a beef special like tripe, tendon, and beef brisket. Service was on point. Went in close to 8pm on a week night but the restaurant was actually pretty busy. A large party ahead of us plus they have drive-thru service. Even so, we were still able to order and get our food within 20 minutes or so. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was served fresh and hot. Prices were reasonable for what you got. Decent pho in Alabama to my surprise. The price and portion sizes were proportional to each other. The broth was cleaner in a sense that it was not as rich and beefy as other pho broths that I've come to love. The noodles were a little more on the al dente side and the cuts of brisket, tendon and flank were on the chewier side. The vietnamese ice coffee served is typical as other pho restaurants serve. The spring rolls were large and packed with meat. They reminded me of the old "Ball park Franks" since the commercials always toted that they "plump when you cook them" These spring rolls were delicious and pretty big and my favorite part of my meal. The location is away from the main roads and they have there own parking lot. The service here was quick and the staff friendly. Food is decent, but service can leave a lot to be desired. Went there today with my daughter for my birthday. Nothing fancy ordered off the menu, but it literally took 50 minutes to get our food. Pho and vermicelli is all that was ordered but the served every other table in the restaurant(about 8 tables that All arrived and ordered after us) before we were brought our food. Then our original waitress(older lady that like to give the stink eye) wouldn't even bring us the check, she had another waitress do it. This unique place has its charms. The location may not be as great a service as it could be, but it's not so hidden that it can't be enjoyed. It's intimate, quiet and friendly. I, personally, struggled trying to select something for a couple of reasons. First, there are a LOT of options. More importantly, it is heavily presented with pork/pork based items, including most of the broths. It's been more than 30 years since I've eaten pork, so my selections were very limited. This is the best Vietnamese restaurant in the area. I've been here so many times and it's very consistence. Bubble tea is good but they use condense milk instead of other kinds of milk. Most items are good but I usually revert back to my favorite which is their daily special called "bun rieu". It's a tomato crab tofu noodle. It's very good. Service is friendly and professional. The Pho places I tend to favor have a more "complex" flavor profile, lots of Star Anise, cinnamon, etc. Pot Au Pho's is neater/cleaner and refreshing, is a great vessel to transport the citrusness of the lime and the floral accent of the Culantro. Their tendon is amazing and meat portions do not disappoint! We gave their spring rolls a try and these too were slightly different that what we are accustomed to, but don't get it twisted, they were extremely good, the accompanying dip sauce was a great compliment to this dish. Huge disappointment :( I was craving some Pho but had forgotten my go to Pho88 was closed on Mondays so I headed further down the road to this place. I ordered the LARGE veggie Pho. 90% of the bean sprouts were old and slimy, 90% of the basil was black and bitter. I was shocked when they the bowl came out as it was the smallest bowl of Pho I have ever seen. The veggies consisted of green onion, broccoli and cabbage, that's it. The broth lacked depth. I will NEVER stray from Pho88 again, lesson learned. One star for cleanliness and one star because it was edible. read more
