I went to Greers to check out the store and try their entry in the Mobtown Burger Week Contest this week. Wow, the burger had a lot going on and all of it was great! The St Louis Sweet Heat Burger has Black Angus Beef cooked to perfection, caramelized onions, 3-Pepper Colby Jack Cheese, Jalapeño Hatch Chile Jam on house baked Jalapeño Cheddar Bread. I always hear about the amazing lunch specials here on the radio, so I've stopped a few times to check it out. On this particular day, I chose the bacon cheeseburger, and it didn't disappoint. It was juicy and flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I took it to go, but if you're looking for a great dine in experience, there is a beautifully sun lit lounge to dine in, and roof access if you want to partake of that awesome southern weather. Greer's on St. Louis is the best grocery store ever. The employees are eager to help. They have a huge wine selection, a great food options on the hot bar and delicious made to order in the back. This is like a mini Whole Foods. GREAT hot bar, salad bar, and hot sandwich station. Great if you want something healthy to eat but don't have much time. The staff is great and very friendly. Prices are very reasonable for a healthier option too! You can sit outside, but I wish they had indoor seating for hot days. Highly recommend. read more

I have NEVER been disappointed here. Everything is exceptional. The rotisseries are the best I've ever had. So much flavor! Today I had the delicious Sweet Heat Burger. Angus beef in homemade (daily) cheddar, jalapeño bread with cheese and I believe bacon jam. That's what it looked and tasted like. Chef's Kiss. Don't sleep on this place. What a gem in the middle of downtown Mobile! Greer's has everything you need and then some! I met a friend for coffee and had to leave with a few of the tempting pastries...almond petit four and a salted caramel bar. So good!! This looks to be a nice market. We found it because we were walking down the street, heard live music, and walked upstairs to hear an acoustic guitar singer/ songwriter. No cover charge or need to purchase anything! It was cool, and an unexpected find for two tourists in Mobile!!! We returned the next day to buy some cereal. Scoffed and told us they "closed at 8 and the lights were off" when we tried to order from the bakery section. ALL the lights were on and was no indication that they were closed. We would have said that's fine and left, but she got what we asked while she was stating this- then huffed when asked if we needed anything and obviously annoyed told us that that register was closed and to go to the front. So, as a fair warning- the little bakery area in the front closed at eight and they won't be nice if you are oblivious to this fact. read more

My husband and I just found this Greers close to our house and the store looked great from the outside so we had to go in. Right when we walked in the atmosphere was inviting and it looked very nice inside. The "wine guy" schooled us in some wines I hadn't even heard of. The employees were so professional and beyond nice that even though the prices are out of our league we will definitely be back. We were told about how they have a rooftop where live bands play on Friday nights and this rooftop is open for all to eat drink and be merry. They don't charge you a corkage fee, you just purchase whatever you want in the store and go sit on the roof to eat and drink. They have a hot bar, salads, sandwiches and a full grocery store with the added bonus of a host of wines. I can't wait to take advantage of the rooftop follies! My family came in here on a rainy day in between museum visits. Wow were we surprised by how friendly the staff was, how good the food was and how big their eating area was! We had all different foods, smoked chicken legs, soup, assorted salads, cornbread ( to die for), cookies and coffee. It was ALL great! Robin was the best part of the whole experience, helping entertain my hungry kids while I gathered food from the deli. She was such a joy and made our visit very pleasant. I ordered from the deli area and hot meal area. My order was lost but once this was brought to the staff's attention, they were extremely fast and made sure I got my order right away. The cashier, Brittany, was extremely kind and apologetic about my wait and gave me two desserts to make up for my wait. She was also very knowledgeable about the menu and helped me customize my order with her recommendations because this was my first time visiting this Greer's. Eating my food on the rooftop was amazing! I enjoyed the view and the food was excellent!! I recommend ordering the jalapeño grilled cheese and enjoying it on their rooftop! read more
