We travel from the Gulf Coast of Mississippi to this Publix location off Airport Road in Mobile--and it is absolutely worth the 50-minute drive. Mississippi doesn't have Publix stores, and every time we visit, we're reminded why this one is top-tier. The customer service here is consistently excellent. The staff is always professional, respectful, and genuinely helpful. You feel welcomed as soon as you walk through the doors. The store itself is spotless--well-maintained, organized, and fully stocked with fresh, vibrant products. We especially appreciate the wide range of quality items that align with a healthy lifestyle. Whether it's produce, deli, or specialty goods, everything always looks fresh and inviting. Publix has become a little getaway for us--an excuse to cross state lines, knock out errands in Alabama, and enjoy a clean, pleasant shopping experience that we only wish we had here at home. @ Publix Bakery. This is the third time my cake has been messed up in the year of 2024. In March I ordered a birthday cake that was made a week early. The following week when it was supposed to be ready to pickup they stated they had no proof of the cake that I had paid for two weeks in advance just to later find out that my cake was made a week early which I was never notified of. Moving on to August 2024 I graduated from college and ordered a cake for my graduation party. I specifically asked for the writing to be green and for the graduation hat to be gold due to it being my college colors . When I received my cake the writing was in black with a black graduation cap. My final straw was this October for my mother's birthday. I asked if they could do a specific design and they said yes. When I received the cake it looked nothing like the picture. I asked could they redo the design on top which they did, but little did I know my cake was the complete opposite of what I asked for inside and out. When my mother cut into her birthday cake it was CHOCOLATE. I asked for all vanilla because my mother is highly allergic to chocolate and almost went into anaphylactic shock. I asked to speak to the manger she stated that they may not be able to remake the cake although it was their fault. I do not recommend this publix bakery to anyone. They are never following the order that the customer placed and are inconsiderate of customers time,money, and health. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS BAKERY ALL THEY WILL DO IS RUIN YOUR SPECIAL OCCASION AND CAUSE ADDITIONAL STRESS. read more

Publix is my go-to weekly grocer for BoGOs, Boars Head roasted chicken and some fruits and veggies. I like Publix because they are coupon friendly and since I'm coupon friendly, we get along great! I give a little and they give a little with the savings flyers and they also accept competitor coupons. I don't and won't pay full price so I frequently shop the sale for the best prices. This location is very clean, organized and has stellar customer service. One of my fav perks is they offer to take my groceries to the car after check-out. Sweet deals, Great peeps, and carryout, come on now that's good stuff. Yeah Publix has changed the grocery game and I like it. Check 'em out. read more

I'm from Los Angeles, Los Felix area, been here for work over a month and from all the other stores, this one is always enjoyable, not so much the people in the parking lot leaving the cars everywhere.. but what can you do, that's something the store could fix if they had more cart corrals, otherwise everything is good, friendly stuff good service. read more

nice customer service. i love that they offer to help you take your bags to the car even if you don't have much as you never know what someone's ability needs are. they carry some of the brands i like for my dietary needs that i can't find elsewhere. when i've been the store isn't crowded which i appreciate as an energy sensitive shopper who gets overwhelmed in bright lights and noise. so not a bad shopping experience compared to another local location i've visited. i like that i can refill my 5 gallon water jug here. read more

I've frequented this location for years but have never felt compelled to post a review until after visiting a couple of the other locations and noting the VAST difference in product availability and the helpfulness of the staff. First and foremost, EVERYONE here greets you and will ask if they can help you. If you need to ask someone for assistance, they will stop what they are doing and provide any help you require. The cashiers are the friendliest people on earth. Their produce is always maintained, they have a great meat and seafood section and a very knowledgeable and helpful staff member to help you with specialty meats. I have been able to obtain higher end cuts of meats here when I could not find them at Mosley's. They have a great selection of "clean food" options per section and their ethnic food aisle is impressive. Their deli is great and they have a nice array of cheeses, although I've noted these have been pared down. My only negatives: Historically they have been bad about stocking items that I discover there and choose to buy from then on and then suddenly they stop carrying. This has happened too many times to count. Their bakery is meh. Cuts of veal are hard to get and I've been told numerous times that they will order what I need but this has yet to work out; the only veal they've had available fairly consistently is is ground - bummer. And my personal brand choice for all dairy items is Organic Valley but they are EXTREMELY limited as to which products of this brand they carry. On the whole, the negatives are disappointing but the overall experience of shopping here is pleasant and productive and usually worth the 30 minute drive. I would LOVE for Publix to open a location out in Semmes, but one that's more along the lines of this one as the other smaller locations don't offer the same selection quality nor have anywhere near the same politeness ethic. read more

I love this Publix! Service is always friendly and the employees seem to enjoy their jobs and have a good disposition. The layout of the store feels open and is easy to navigate. Also, the meats, prepared foods, produce, seafood and sushi is always fully stocked. I like their wine section/selections and always end up leaving with a bottle I didn't originally come in for. Be sure to download the Publix app, as you can see what's their weekly specials and coupons can be clipped to your account. You can also place an order for bakery, deli, produce and seafood items via the app. It's a must you download it if you frequent Publix. Lastly and the most important reason to stop by Publix: FLOWERS! Their flowers are located near the entrance closest to Airport Blvd. and you can purchase 3 bunches for $12. My favorite to buy are their blue hydrangeas. These lasts about 2-3 weeks if properly watered and using the flower food provided at the base of the stems. Stereotypically women love flowers (I know I do!) and taking some home to the woman you adore and love may score you some "bedroom time". read more

Of course this grocery store is the place for fresh produce! My kitty, Mo, loves their red leaf lettuce. They have an awesome bakery. I love the key lime pies. They always have them fresh and they have them by the half, slice, or whole pie!! They have a great hot bar, so if you are needing a lunch on the go but don't want fast food, something good is usually found here. I always have to grab a bag of fresh popped popcorn. It's inexpensive and I can munch on it for a days. The BOGO deals are another reason to stop on in. I stock up on essentials this way. The customer service though is hands down the best! You can tell they want you there! I always feel welcome. I honestly will pay a little more for quality and excellent customer service! read more

Hear about the fried chicken and I came into the store about 350pm and ordered the 12 pc mixed. I was told 25mins after 28 mins still no chicken and the employees began to arguing and screaming at each. I asked for the manager of the deli department she came out and advised it would be another 5 mins. But this was only offered a discount for 8 pc and an hour later Kym.. I will NOT BE BACK!!!! On the way out spoke with Alex the store manager he was much better after apologizing he offered the chicken for free and assured me he would be taking care of the issue at hand. I have always eat one type of cereal. No store in Mobile sells it at all. I asked The manager at the Airport store if she could get some. In just a few weeks it was permanently stocked. Publix is the best grocery to hit this area, by far. I will say, Airport Publix had a problem with there personal to begin with, but they have made changes and great changes. You walk into these stores, and you see beautiful colorful fruit, that is different from others stores. They have fruit from other countries, as well as vegetables that are as amazing. The Publix Brand ice cream, is creamy and so very delicious, with so many different verities of flavors, you can not imagine. Everyone is willing to help, just ask the question, they answer, are find out. If there is a problem with. Item, bring it back. And cleanliness matters, they are clean even the ones in Florida where I thought, oh know I don't think I want to go there but, SPARKLES. Love this supermarket....... clean, bright, new and open. Everything is well spaced out and you can find your everyday needs in here no problem. Prices are a little high but you pay for quality. The cheese and wine section is impressive. Seafood is good, deli counters are well handled also. I havent been to a bad Publix yet in the south and this one is no different. read more

So my favorite Publix in Atlanta is the Brookhaven location - it's even better than the Cumberland one. Imagine my joy when I see that the Publix in Mobile is the same style as the Brookhaven location! My hubby and I are Publix loyalists, so on our second day living here, we visited. We love the staff, the selection, the displays, and the deli. They have my Malbec wine in a box. All within 3 miles of our new apartment. Yay! read more

This store continues to amaze me. The selection of products is excellent, and the prices are acceptable. The neighborhood Walmart is now where you go for service not Publix. Case in point occurred last evening. I came in with a shopping list from my wife. One item was to get a few avocados. I go to the appropriate department and I see a staff member working there. I ask a simple question. How do you make a choice in avocados. I wish I had gotten the response on tape. Simply put and I quote.."hell if I know"...and he walked off. Yet another amongst a remarkable series of disrespectful service encounters at this store. I am amazed but my collection of Publix encounters keeps growing. eventually they make an interesting book....or not. This has become the trademark of this store. I guess it might just be a trial in a new way to interface with your customers. The staff at the front still continues to pay more attention to each other than to the customers and the managers are inconspicuous at best. I guess time will tell if this new plan works. I guess if you want to experience it first hand you probably should visit and then record the experience. read more

I got two fruit bowls - very tasty, yet very scarce on mango. But that doesn't dim the light on the amazing customer service I received today. Having lived in Florida, you get spoiled, bc Publix is basically the only place to shop, then you move to Mobile, AL & you have to climb mountains, ford rivers & fight off yeti's, practically, to get to one, from where I live, but it's well worth it! I cannot even begin to mention all the plus's of this store, but it's simply lovely! If I lived closer, I would be here regularly for the ambiance, yes, this grocery store has ambiance & awesome customer service! read more

Plenty of items to choose from at this supermarket. I was happy to see plenty of Hispanic food items AND Extra Ginger Beer. They seem to be a little expensive but honestly I'm not sure if it's because I'm cheap or what. Still I will probably go out of my way to shop here on occasion even though there is a different supermarket near me and it takes about 30+min to get to this location. read more

I can not say enough about this place. You feel like royalty when you and family as you leave. When I say everybody, I MEAN EVERYBODY treats you soo well when you step foot in this place, I mean it. I love coming here. And I told you all that I am huge on CS Skills. They have me beat in CS. And my CS Skills are heavenly. I find any reason I can just to visit. Don't eat from the coffee cafe. I ordered a ice coffee. As the employee was making it, I noticed flies in the display case going inside the fruit filled pastries. I informed the female employee. After she gave me my coffee, I watched her take the patries out of the display. The flies came out and she brushed them off. Then put them back inside the display. I said those flies have been locked in that display who knows how long. Crawling around in those desserts and you put them back up for sale. She said IAM not losing my job over flies. read more

If you are contemplating using the event planning area at Publix on Airport Blvd; Don't! Great shopping and bakery experience. Even the first contact with the event planner went well. However, if you want the items delivered on time don't depend on them. My items arrived only after we called to inquire where they were. The event planner got lost, and arrived an hour late. Some of the bakery items had fallen over and were damaged. Not fit to be presented. Save yourself some time and money. Stay away from the event planning area. Hope this helps. read more

I absolutely loved this grocery store!! I got a cupcake from their bakery area and it was Uh-May-Zing!! The store is more pricey than others but they have excellent produce and fruit selections plus they have a lot of items you won't find at other groceries, like international foods. The flowers always look good in Publix, so when I needed corsages for a bridal shower, I ordered there. They made boutonnieres and charged me for a corsage, and didn't even include floral pins. I had someone pick them up, and they never looked in the bag . I didn't know until 15 minutes before the shower started. No pin and nothing but a rose bud. They knew these were boutonnieres. I won't trust them with another order. EVER. read more

The reason I have given this Publix one star is its obviously not well managed. There are far too many items sold out and not in stock, and some items it goes on for weeks. In one case, Virgils Cream Soda..hasnt been stocked in over 2 months, yet Winn Dixie on Grelot has had theirs run low and restocked twice in that time (I buy a good bit of it). The final straw was I went in on a Friday evening, and there was NO gallon skim, 1%, or 2% milk and half of all of the eggs were out of stock...yeah..half of them. I dont know if this is a poor inventory system or if no one decided to reorder. But this mess has been going on and on and on and has shown not one sign of getting better. Not to mention a lot of items on the shelves nearly expired or are expired. The stocking problem is nowhere near this bad at the Hillcrest location, but it too has some expiration date problems on items. If this is their idea of being a grocery store, wait for Rouses to open up across the street in January..as Publix will be dealt a HUGE blow. read more
