Winn-Dixie had fallen in quality for years, but about a year or so ago, Southeastern Grocers (the corporate owner of Winn-Dixie) dumped a lot of money into the supermarket chain and went forward with a new business strategy to position Winn-Dixie to reclaim their former glory. The best thing that Southeastern Grocers did with Winn-Dixie was to put an emphasis on their line of USDA Choice grade beef. I honestly wish that they wouod just dump the vheap beef that is not USDA graded, but I am sure that this inferior quality but cheap beef has plenty of people buying it simply because of the price point. They also have been having good sales with an emphasis on BOGO (buy one, get one free) deals. All in all, I would definitely recommend a visit to this particular Winn-Dixie. read more

I lived across the street from this location for 3 years and came in about everyday and everyone was always so cool friendly and helpful. It's been a few years since I moved across the Baja fan today I stopped by when I. The neighborhoods and met a manager CRISTAL, she is A 100 awesome really beautiful soul and obviously ruining a nice tight ship as my experience was excellent . Glad to see that. Also OFFICER JOE was on duty as he was many times throughout my years as a regular customer and he was always extremely kind and I felt he was a very good man . He is the kind of guy that makes you really appreciate our public servants and what they do for us to have comfortable and safe lives . Clean, good prices and friendly staff. I'm new to the area, so I have been shopping at different markets to compare prices and experiences. This review takes into consideration other reviews of lower ratings where they also say the staff is rude. Two things, one: these folks ain't never been to Piggly Wiggly where you are required to take a deep breath to deal with the lack of customer service. And two, some people need to consider that sometimes it's ok to give a worker a pass because maybe they had a bad day. Don't be so quick to write a low review, consider the entire experience and don't hold every staff member and the franchise responsible for one bad moment. This is the best overall shopping experience on the area. Compared to Piggly Wiggly, Publix, CVZ, Walgreens, and even the area's Farmers Market. They have a really clean store, great produce selection and good prices. With a registered phone number the prices get even better. The staff are mostly appropriately polite, not over-the-top friendly like I'm kind of comfortable with coming in from Cali, but they do well. I intentionally asked for help, and more than once they have been quite helpful. Piggly Wiggly's people don't know where stuff is in their store, and Publix don't care to be helpful as if they are bothered that you dared ask a question. So yeah, shop Winn Dixie for quality produce and fair prices. And don't forget, In Mobile Alabama you can't buy alcohol before noon on a Sunday. Lol, I keep forgetting this one. read more

Not only were the employees nice the people shopping were so forthcoming The first place I went to was the deli and I waited for about 2-3 minutes and a gentleman helped me and he was very kind. The gentleman stocking the wine was very nice and again helpful. The store was well put together and clean. There was maintenance happening so I had to be careful of that. The cashier was a sweetheart and made you feel like you were her only customer and she had a great sense of humor, she made my day. I hadn't been to a Winn Dixie in a couple of years because any store I had visited in the past had the rudest employees and I expect courtesy and professionalism at the very least so I stopped going until this store. TWO COMPLAINTS 1. I ordered a ham from Winn Dixie last weekend! It was never delivered. 2. Yesterday I went to Winn Dixie on Government and Catherine to buy lunch. I have arthritic knees and it is hard to walk so I headed for the riding cart and was accosted by a beggar sitting in one of the carts. I had no money for her and at first didn't see another cart and was annoyed that a beggar was using a cart for disabled customers to squat and beg. She snippily refused to move and showed me there was another cart which I used. I went to customer service to complain but they said there was nothing they could do. This is why I shop at Publix more often. They always have several available carts and they walk you to your car and help with groceries if you are in the riding cart. They NEVER have beggars either. read more

One thing is for sure, this place definitely stands out. This grocery store is extremely easy to spot in the area. The food here is inexpensive and they have plenty of non-brand items so you can stay in budget. I got some chips, drinks, and other food items here. I am happy about the price I paid. They have a food mart where you can buy food cafeteria style. I was going to get the $10 (all you can stuff) chicken bucket but I did not want that much food. I live practically across the street from this store. While I must admit that sometimes when I am cooking something exotic, they might now have what I need, but their meat is awesome, good produce, and most importantly their employees are outstanding. There are multiple employees that I now consider friends and all of them are friendly and helpful. Christopher (the store manager) and Jonathan (other senior manager) must be doing something right for their employees to be so happy. Seeing Christopher almost daily in a pressed white shirt stocking shelves and doing cart duty in the parking lot also speaks much of the management culture! read more

Utterly disappointed in the customer service from the women in the deli dept. specifically KiKi and Evelyn. I was in town visiting family. My mother asked me to pick up the chicken she ordered on Thursday. I arrived at the counter gave Kiki my mothers name. She advised that I needed a ticket. Called mom. She wasn't given a ticket. Kiki confirmed that she took moms order and that she gave her a ticket. So I guess my 76 year old mom is a liar. Asked for the manager. He (Caleb) was called multiple times but a no show. I had to hunt him down to get chicken. Went back to deli counter to ask name of manager and Evelyn had the audacity to raise her voice at me trying to explain the reason for having a receipt. If I could give a negative star I would. I have never been treated as rudley as I was today by a pharmacy tech by the name of Victoria. When I went to pick up my prescriptions she told me the amount and I asked her if this was through my insurance and she said yes. I asked her to run it through Good RX since it would be much cheaper. You would have thought I asked her to dig ditches, She asked me to step aside since there were 2 people behind me but yet she allowed one in front of me to make a phone call causing the wait to be longer. She did not ask this person to step aside. So I did step aside and in the mean time she not only took the 2 behind me but a total of 4. Once I did get back up there she was extremely rude and never once apologized for the wait. I am a nurse and if I treated anyone like this I would lose my job. Once the transaction was completed she never said thank you or anything else. I could have been extremely nasty to her but I wasn't. My son heard the entire exchange and can vouch for all that transpired. I immediatly went to the store manager but who knows if anything at all will be done. I am now considering changing pharmacies! We first noticed how clean the parking lot was but it wasn't until we got to the meat department that we were truly and completely blown away by the wonderfully polite and courteous and especially how gracious the staff was by their hospitality and professionalism, Kenneth Barnes of the meat department and Bernice Pritchard of the seafood department both offered to get us a shopping buggy and a variety of taste testers of her freshly boiled and deliously flavored shrimp. Being from Texas and it being first time to ever step foot into a Winn Dixie, we were honestly surprised to find such a welcoming place with such great deals on prices too and more so because it wasn't a Publix, which we heard so much about, either. read more

I used to go there all the time because they had a great healthfood section. Unfortunately, they tore it out and replaced it with cheap, sugary beverages. With Whole Foods closed down, they could be selling a lot of good products if they still had that section. The produce is only marginal except for the watermelons which are really good. read more

The actual store itself is just fine. I was even quite satisfied with the sushi. The customer service, on the other hand, was essentially non-existent. When I went to check out, the cashier said absolutely nothing to me. She and the bagger were too busy having a conversation for her to even acknowledge me. But, honestly, if she does her job and gets me through efficiently, I could care less if she spoke to me or not. I guess one of her ex-boyfriends had told a bunch of people that she was crazy, as in, mentally ill. She didn't know about it, but had noticed that no guys were trying to talk to her anymore. Then somebody told her, and it all made sense. The guy who was bagging the groceries is apparently quite confident because he has no reservations about going up to any female and talking to her. I'll spare everybody the details, but that was the conversation that I was a captive audience of. When the groceries were done being scanned and were being bagged, I was kind of waiting for the girl to tell me my total. It's just kind of a standard thing to do, not that it is at all necessary. Still, her conversation was too important for her to stop so that she could do her job. She handed me the two receipts and a pen, still not a word. I signed, grabbed my bags and left. I'm sure that I will go back, only because it is the closest grocery store to where I live. But I will not go back because I want to support the store and the people who work there. read more

I'm a huge fan of Winn Dixie rotisserie chicken and buy it almost every week. The last one purchased was missing a leg when I got it home and opened the container. Girlfriend accused me of eating it on the way home. Don't know if it was a handicapped chicken or maybe a hungry employee that couldn't resist. It was kind of a funny incident, and I surly will be back for more. The best in town!! read more

Very nice store, good wings and hot bar. My only complaint is some of the pricing. Stopped by yesterday for a 6-pack of Coke. The price was $4.59. I put them back, drove down the street and bought the same item at a gas station for $2.99. That seems ridiculous to me. read more

Visited the location this morning to get a few things for breakfast and a couple more things for the rest of the week, not a LOT of groceries. My wife's card was hacked a week ago and yesterday she had taken my card to use elsewhere as hers is currently deactivated. Once I got to the register she called and reminded me I didn't have my card. The cashier was nice enough to take it over the phone, even offered to ring it up and suspend it for me if that didn't work, he called for an override then the manager got involved. He told me no AFTER approving it. Fine, I asked can I just leave the groceries here i'll be right back with the card I just left it at home, no. I was then forced to sign/approve a refund despite not actually wanting one. All I wanted was my groceries. I told the manager, Carl, I believe his name was, that I'd be right back with the card, but no customer service was offered. A weak apology means nothing in the face of poor customer service. I made a mistake and left my card at home, I'll admit that was MY fault. Obviously, however, your machine is capable of taking a card over the phone successfully, you just didn't want to approve it after you approved it. I've worked directly in customer service before and this was handled very poorly. I doubt this review will change anything, but I won't be back to any Winn Dixie and I'll no longer recommend anyone else go here either. I have never been treated poorly at a grocery store in my entire life. read more
