A great bowl of pho...is almost...therapeutic!…read more On a somewhat crowded area of Bell Boulevard, Pho Grand stands as a neighborhood gem that has firmly cemented itself as the Pho go-to spot. When you pull up during peak hours, the street parking might feel like....a scavenger hunt, but you can find a spot if you're patient. Step inside, and you are instantly enveloped in a warm, genuinely welcoming atmosphere. It's very spacious. The decor carries a 3.5 score because it is a little dated, but it more than makes up for it with the customer service and the comfort of the environment. The kitchen delivers a consistency that never misses. The crown jewel here (at least in my opinion) is the Number 10 Flank Steak Pho, featuring a clean, soul-warming broth packed with tender bits of flank steak. A flawless alternative, if I'm not in the mood for soup, is the well seasoned lemongrass chicken. Food (4.25/5): Consistent, flavorful, and reliable. Decor & Vibe (3.5/5): A bit stuck in a past era, but it completely wins you over with its spacious layout and how comfortable the environment is. Customer Service (4.5/5): Fantastic Cost: Around $20 per person

My experience at Pho Grand Bayside, located at 38-40 Bell Boulevard, Bayside, NY 11361, was…read moreextremely disappointing. The waitress was inattentive, rude, and highly unprofessional throughout the visit. She was yelling at customers and speaking to them with a very bad attitude. At one point, she even told customers, "If you don't like this restaurant, go to another one," I would never coming back. No customer should ever be treated this way. I was shocked by the disrespectful behavior and poor customer service.

Possibly my new pho place…read more You're not coming here for a "vibe." It's a small place with around six tables and three staff members (two in the kitchen and one taking orders, serving, bussing, and cleaning). Not the most glamorous vision of a restaurant, right? But the food is tasty! We had the summer rolls, peppered calamari, the signature pho, and the beef short-rib pho. The summer rolls and calamari were good, you could taste the freshness of the veggies and shrimp. I wish the calamari had been a bit crispier and seasoned with a touch more salt and pepper, but it was still very good. The real reason I'll be coming back is the pho broth. Some people might describe it as slightly sweet, but to me, it had a rich, balanced flavor. I'm not sure if the short rib is available all the time (it does have a lot of fat, as beef short rib often does), but it was flavorful. Definitely coming back to try more.

Pros: - the food came out pretty quick…read more- the broth was sooooo good - the meat on the beef rib was so tender, came right off the bone - the batter on the calamari was already seasoned (so good), so I didn't really need the sauce that came with it (I think the sauce is self-made, I wasn't a huge fan of it though) - the lamb skewers were good too Cons: Comments: - went around 3PM on a Sunday, it was dead :'( - service was alright since it was only the boss there and probably one or two other people in the back - the place is a little small, felt kind of homey and personal but not super cozy, definitely restaurant-like, if that makes sense - there's no in-restaurant bathroom, you have to leave the premises and go into another building, into a basement

I go to this place often as I love love love the decor and atmosphere…read more Loved the pork buns and beef pho! The portions were really good too! The service can be a bit inconsistent as sometimes they forget to refill my water but aside from that they are very nice.

Unfortunately this review is probably a day late and, from the restaurant's perspective, a few…read moredollars short because word hit Instagram that they are closing at the end of the month. ( https://www.instagram.com/p/DQF8Gzekcks/ ). It is a shame because, besides myself, I know a few people that aren't in the neighborhood that travel regularly to G&L. Also its surprising because every time I go the place is pretty packed and occasionally there is a wait. What's also a shame, for me, is that on my recent visit my friend ordered the Steamed Seafood in Lemongrass and this is perhaps the top, or one of the top dishes on the menu. The seafood flavors and balances the slightly spicy lemongrass broth making this a crave worthy bowl. I ordered something out of my wheelhouse - the Coconut Spicy Lemongrass Soup, which on online order menu states its a popular dish. I couldn't see why this dish is so popular because I find other items on the menu superior. They make a tasty pho (especially when paired with a marrow bone). Their sandwiches are well made - I enjoy the different fish ones. I think their Vietnamese coffee could use some work - it is blander than other versions I had tried. Don't be too sad and maybe feel a little optimistic because owner Petra Rickman has a great track record opening interesting, in demand restaurants (This one and Taco Azul have been longtime go-tos in Whitestone). Additionally G&L has a 2nd location with the same menu in Manhattan, which unfortunately for a Queens boy like myself is a bridge too far and a congestion pricing too high for me to make the trek.
