Same location, similar name, remodeled, same menu - new ownership, new chef - please don't mistake it for the original Ming's. I was happy to hear that Ming's re-opened, it has been a local favorite for many years, even when the pandemic hit and indoor dining shut down, many people still came for take-out and for party trays. When I heard they re-opened, I immediately wanted to help support the local business. The exterior is the same, the interior has been remodeled. Similar chairs and tables, however the paint and floors have been refreshed. Now the food - I ordered 4 dishes to go - honey walnut prawns, beef broccoli, fried rice, sesame chicken and the Westlake beef soup, with tax, it came out to around $98. Unfortunately, for me the food was mediocre, aside from the large portion of fried rice and a decent amount of beef in the beef broccoli, the taste was not as I remembered, its completely different even though it is Cantonese style as the original Ming's. Although they have the same look and feel, same name, same menu, the food was not the same. Maybe I can give them a try next time, but this was my first impression.

Ming's reopened! Hubs and I were walking in downtown San Bruno and saw that they had reopened! The name was the same but the inside was all spruced up so it didn't have that old hole in the wall vibe. We asked if this was the same restaurant as before and they said yes. This was our family's go to spot and the kids had fond memories of meals there as they were growing up. The JUST opened on 2/2/26 and we happened to stroll by on 2/4. Fam was excited so we decided to order a couple of fam favorites to test them out. I called in and ordered Sesame chicken and BBQ pork fried rice. I know, I know, but the kids loved those dishes here. When I walked in to pick up my food, the cashier was calling me to let me know they didn't have BBQ pork fried rice and asked if I wanted to order something else. I didn't have time to wait so I just took the sesame chicken. Sadly the sesame chicken was nothing like it used to be. It was moist but it really tasted like sweet and sour chicken without the pineapple with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. Honestly, I get it, it's their second day being open so it's tough. I just wish they called me earlier to let me know about the fried rice and I would have ordered something else. The "sesame chicken" wasn't bad per se, I gave it a 2 because it was not "Ming's sesame chicken" that we all grew to love. As sesame chicken went, I would prolly give it a 3 but prefer the orange chicken at Panda. We might try some other dishes in the future, but don't go in expecting the old "Ming's".

They finally opened after being closed for many months. At this time they don't have a full menu so some items are not available. Its technically a soft opening so give them time. The food that I ordered was cooked to perfection. Great flavors and the portions are plenty. The service needs improvement but its all new ownership. Give them time to organize. Plenty of seating for large parties. First of many visits to come.

I was a frequent patron of good old "Ming's" when it was in business... So you could imagine my excitement to try the "New Ming's" when I heard it was open for business... prices are a higher but in line with Chinese American restaurants nearby... Also, apparently the one of biggest renovation of the past year was removing sauce from the orange chicken. I'm not exaggerating -- this was orange chicken in theory....conceptually orange chicken... a philosophical interpretation of orange chicken. The chicken itself was fine, but the sauce must have called out sick that day. I kept looking around the container like maybe it was shy and hiding in a corner. Nope, nada. Dry as a desert. Everything else was okay, but when one of your of main dish shows up like it forgot its main personality trait, it's hard to recover emotionally... I didn't order fried chicken nuggets -- I ordered "orange chicken". With sauce. The sauce is the job. I was too tired to drive back and inquire about the missing suspect... but I'm willing to try again since the place is new and I believe in second chances... but next time I'm checking the box before I leave like I'm auditing a crime scene. If the sauce is there, we're good. If not, I'm bringing my own.

Corn and fish fillets over rice.

The salt & pepper chicken wings are vey crispy and moist inside. Good amount of salt and pepper seasonings. The wor wonton noodle soup was delicious with big pieces of shrimp inside, egg noodles, lot of seafood and meats, and tasty soup. Corn and fish fillets lunch special was good too.

Food is delicious and reasonably priced. You can order the special dinner option for lunch

It's a new mings with new staff and new chef. Just re-opened with a facelift where the restaurant is so much brighter and feels roomier. We went in to check it out today, hoping for some nostalgia with peanuts, and fortune cookie and oranges....none of that as yet, though suggestions were given to the new owners! The hard thing about going back to a restaurant you've been familiar with for decades is comparing....and then you have to stop and remember that's not fair. June, the new waitress of only 2 days since the restaurant reopened 2/2, was very friendly and though the restaurant is quiet with sit ins, there were quite a bit of take out orders. The chef comes from the HL Penisula restaurant and though the menu is not too extensive ....yet, it prices were fairly good. You can get a lunch platter at less than $20! The food we had was the salt and pepper pork chop, deep fried flounder and tomato beef crispy fried noodles. They were tasty, hot, and perfectly seasoned. I'll come back! Supporting the local small businesses in the area it's important...sad to see what was a vibrant area in the past be more deserted. Doesn't help to have to pay for parking when the community is already struggling. Go check it out and if you're familiar with the old Mings, just remember it's time for a change of your taste buds to enjoy

Veggie chowmein was excellent. The lemon chicken was off. Maybe processed, and frozen. Very strange rubbery texture and many air pockets that I've never seen in chicken. I may try again in a few months.

Standout was definitely the Peking duck - super tasty, generous portions, and they prepared the duck 3 ways, including a delicious soup with the bones. You need to check in and let them know you arrived so they can put you in the queue to be seated. Even though we arrived at 6:45 we didn't get seated until 7:15 (aka no point in arriving early if you have a reservation). The Peking Duck is what they are famous for and deservedly so. It is so so good and the presentation is beautiful. Skin is crispy, meat is tender, wrappers are thin. They give you an option to have the Duck remains (bones and left over meat) to be made into a soup or stir fry and we opted for the soup. It was so clean and healthy tasting. One of the best places for Peking duck in the bay. A must try

I don't eat porridge often, usually when really under the weather so I'm fortunate to not gone to get some in a while. I called my pickup order since I didn't see an online option. The store front is Ichi Ramen so it's confusing in case you get lost in the busy plaza. I ordered shrimp, fish and plain porridge (congee) along with beef chow fun. 4 dishes total. Total came out to under $60 and it was a heavy bag! The porridge has a nice thick consistency without being runny. It had flavor to not need seasoning and surprisingly large portions of seafood. The chow fun was decent but I've definitely tasted better. Kinda pricy at $18 though the beef slices were big. I appreciated it wasn't as oily as other chow fun I've had so easy to eat without feeling kinda gross after. Solid value, good food, and worth a rec for porridge. All in all, I'd definitely return. 4.5 stars.

For some proteins, it is advisable to get an extra bowl to remove the protein as it will overcook in the crazy hot congee. The sliced beef congee comes out perfect so they must either add it to the hot congee rare or even raw so it ends up cooking perfectly. The friend Chinese donut was crispy and airy, slightly oily so fryer oil may have needed to be hotter and fry cook need to slow down and let oil temp recover. Place does get busy quick and may need to wait for a table though.

5 stars - Genuine Northern Chinese Gem in Milbrae…read more I've been searching for years for a spot that does real Northern Chinese food without watering it down for the American palate, and New China absolutely delivers. The owners clearly know their stuff--Shandong style cooking shines through. We started with the pan-fried pork & chive dumplings (煎饺) -- thick, chewy wrappers with perfectly seasoned filling and that ideal crispy bottom. Not the thin-skinned Cantonese style; these are hearty and satisfying, just like what you'd get in the north. Their zha jiang mian (炸酱面) is outstanding--the fermented soybean sauce is rich and deeply flavored, loaded with ground pork, cucumber matchsticks, and bean sprouts. The noodles have that perfect al dente bite. It's the real deal, not the sweet Americanized version. We also got the cumin lamb skewers (孜然羊肉串) -- tender, intensely spiced with cumin, chili flakes, and sesame, grilled over real flame so they have that smoky char. And the sour cabbage stir-fried with glass noodles (酸菜粉丝) was spot-on: tangy, comforting, and full of that signature Northern balance of sour and savory. Excellent appetizers Portions are generous, prices are very reasonable for the quality, and the place has that no-frills, family-run feel that makes you feel like you're eating at someone's home kitchen. Service was friendly and quick, even when busy. If you're tired of the same old General Tso's and orange chicken everywhere, do yourself a favor and come here for authentic Northern Chinese flavors. This is now our go-to spot in Milbrae Highly recommend--will be back often!

Unlike your typical Chinese Restaurant, this place specializes in Northern China style cuisine, so some of the dining experience may feel reversed. For example, they have a mince noodle that is served cold, but a Tofu Skin that is served hot. The English description are a bit off and they have a variety of frozen buns and other food you can buy to-go (they don't serve the buns at the restaurant). For the less adventurous, their spicy tofu, Crispy Sweet and Sour Chicken (breaded and fried crispy) and a dry noodle are good starting point, and for vegetables, their stir fry green beans is good (but best served with some rice). Overall, this place is not bad, but wish their menu was more accurate in the description/content to meet customer's expectations.

This place is kind of a hole in the wall with its self proclaimed "Texas BBQ" and location. Parking can be tough if the parking lot is full, and I wish they picked a better spot to open this shop. It's off the beaten path for most Chinese restaurants in the area. The prices for BBQ aren't exactly cheap, however that can all be mitigated since they offer AYCE at a price starting at $35 a person with drinks. I love their lamb skewers and chinese hamburger. Lamb skewers were seasoned to how I expected them - with a spice mix mainly consisting of cumin. I also like how they include a fatty piece just before the last piece, which is They also offer spicy powder on the side that you can shake on your order to make it more spicy. The Chinese hamburger was very flavorful and authentic and very cheap for the price - much more value than ANY fast food restaurant and a lot healthier! We also ordered a liangpi and cumin chicken, both which were decent. This place offers very fair prices for chinese BBQ if you consider AYCE, since I have yet been to a chinese BBQ place that offers AYCE. Food comes out pretty quickly, and service is welcoming, especially if you're familiar with northern chinese hospitality. If you can look past the fading decor, colored utensils, and overall hole in the wall vibe, this place is actually pretty good if you're from northern china and looking for a homely vibe! Just don't expect Texas BBQ even if its in the name.
