You feel at home there are groups of people gathered around here that are locals that are enjoying staying here at a long time and lingering in the place because of the atmosphere. The food is exceptional. We had the house special beef pho. It is made with a beef rib served with the beef rib bone which is loaded with beef. The broth flavor is so rich and delicious. It's served with the freshest most crispy bean sprouts I've ever had at a restaurant. And a big bunch of basil and jalapeño pepper sliced. The place itself is clean enough but the dining room is nothing special; red vinyl cushioned booths with incongruous artwork on the walls. We had Orange Chicken, Garlic Noodles with Chicken, and Szechuan String Beans upon the recommendations of the waitress. The food was a step above Panda Express and worse than every restaurant I have ever eaten at in San Francisco's Chinatown. Service was fine, but when you're serving below average Chinese food it doesn't help. The bill came to $76.00 after tax and tip and I think there was a credit card transaction fee on the receipt too. For the quality of the food it was overpriced. I did appreciate the free tap water but not the $3.00 charge for a single bowl of white rice to go with the orange chicken and the string beans. I can't believe the reviews of others on yelp and wonder whether they are soliciting friends to write in. Or perhaps we should have ordered other dishes that were less Americanized. Very welcoming atmosphere. The server was friendly. We ordered garlic butter noodles, broccoli and shrimp, vegetable fried rice and Thai fried rice (I don't remember if that's the exact name) we also ordered fries and an orange juice. Our order came out hot which was nice. The food was mid, but paired with the chili oil it was good. We were eating but unfortunately there was a hair towards the bottom of the noodle. We decided to leave the rest of the food. It was annoying but I didn't want to make a fuss about it. We let the server know and she agreed to remove the noodle from our tab. It is really close to the airport. Here's what we got, - Mai Tai: This was so well made, and had a good amount of alcohol. We ordered two each of this because we liked it so much. They have a very good selection of cocktails - Butter Garlic Noodle Chicken: OMG! This was so good. The perfect amount of butter and garlic. Something about this made it the best garlic noodles I've had. Very good portion and the noodles were thick. - Red Curry Chicken with steamed rice (extra): Again, huge portion. Lots of chicken, lots of vegetables as well (Tofu, Green Peppers, Mushroom and others), delicious. Good amount of spice. Couldn't finish this and took some home. - Spring Rolls: Simple dish with great filling and accompanying sauce I think it's family owned, and we were the only people there late on a weekday night. Service was very quick. The bartender/server was extremely friendly, made us great cocktails, gave us chili oil on the side, and even packed our leftovers for us on the table, rather than asking us to do it ourselves. The Lao sausage and Lao papaya salad is extremely authentic and I love that it was ordered, no extra directions, and was made to actually be authentic. I've been to A One a few times now and every time I find more dishes that I absolutely love! All of their noodle dishes are just amazing! If they have the Zajiang get it! If they don't, I also love the noodles with egg, shrimp, and chicken (I can't remember the name). The ladies who work here are the sweetest and always very helpful when you're having trouble deciding what you want to eat! And seating is always quick since the restaurant is very spacious. I love the fish tank at the entrance! But hands down, my favorite thing to get is the mango sticky rice!!! It's the best one I've ever had. Perfectly creamy and sweet and salty. The mango is always so fresh! And I am absolutely not a dessert person but I can't ever skip it! It's heaven! Oh and get the Thai tea. I fly into work routinely and this place is always a must visit. Their food is absolutely delicious, way more delicious than a bar should be! Their crab is fresh and they go so far as to ensure meat quality on their crabs are all up to par for their customers. Came with my family and we had an amazing first time experience here! Service and food is outstanding. The owner is from Southeast Asia, so I really love the Asian Fusion menu here. I really enjoy the Papaya Salad because of how authentic and flavorful they make it here. Their Garlic noodles, Crabs, Noodle soups, are also super delicious. I've never had a disappointing dish here. Con: prices are pretty expensive compared to the average restaurant around here. But it's one of the few restaurants open till late with a solid menu. We got to our AirBnB around 1am, and we were starving! So, Yelp directed us to this place while searching for late night eats. I don't know if we were too hungry, but we all agreed that everything we ordered from this place was so delicious! Different kind of fast-food Chinese. Everything was made fresh to order and deliciously prepped. For our carb-starved tummies, we got two orders of FRIED RICE and an order of CHICKEN CHOW MEIN. For our meats, we got SALT & PEPPER PORK CHOP, ORANGE CHICKEN, AND THAI STYLE FRIED CHICKEN WINGS. For veggies, we got their GARLIC STRING BEANS. All tasted fresh and flavorful! We didn't expect it to be so good and thought that we would have leftovers the next day, but we ate every single crumb. Prices were very reasonable. For all seven items, our total came out to be a little less than $125 after tax, and split amongst seven was the cheapest meal we had in SF. Service was efficient and accurate. The food based on the pictures looked good but the food was not good. The chicken wings were basically reheated in a microwave and not fried or baked fresh. Not even frozen chicken wings baked taste like this. The salt and pepper pork chops tasted the same as if they were heated up in a microwave. Gross. The wife ordered the basil chicken. 9/10/21 My boyfriend and I were looking for a place that was open late for dinner. We a tried a couple other restaurants beforehand but they were all so packed. A One Kitchen & Bar is located along the main road of San Bruno city. Parking was easy since it was late at night. When we came in, there was only one customer at the bar. We were seated at a booth by the owner who was very nice. She brought our menus and water right away and was very attentive to us throughout. Here's what we got: 1. Butter garlic noodle with chicken (mine) 2. A One spicy fried rice (his) 3. Pot stickers (to share) The pot stickers were crispy on the outside and juicy with the filling on the inside. The portion sizes of our entrees were pretty large. I have not had garlic noodles for a long time, and these were really good! I read a few of the reviews that said that the garlic noodles were delicious and they did not disappoint. The fried rice was also delicious and the shrimps were big! The spice level of the rice was kinda spicy for me, but my boyfriend said it was perfect for him. A One Kitchen & Bar is a hole in the wall, but the food is really good and the owners take real care in making sure your time there is perfect.
