Crispy Pork Belly Banh Mi Matchagato
    Bob A.

We live in a Societea indeed - and this one is pleasantly large, with a standard front area and 3x the space in the back. They have board games and lots of sockets everywhere to charge and get work done. The music was a bit loud for me. But nothing headphones can't deal with. Service was great. Fast and personable Food was really good. Menu has food snacks, and drinks. Drinks were about even mix of matcha, milk, fruit, and coffee offerings with option for oat milk. Matchagato was good of matcha with ice cream on top. Pork belly banh mi was warm, fresh, good, and crispy. Some pieces were extra fatty but overall solid.

I tried one drink and took a few sips and straight to the trash unfortunately. Extremely sweet (i asked for 75%) can't imagine full sweetness. I ordered the popular Taro Cloud and it tastes like cereal milk. The garbage can area was filled with trash and sauces smeared on the tables near by (it was not busy) to be left like that . If this is your fav boba spot, enjoy.

More than just a teahouse. The menu offers traditional dishes with their own twist. Drinks are always delicious. It gets busy at certain times so they added a self ordering system so orders can be made without waiting for a clerk. Plenty of seating for large parties or individuals. Many have made it a hangout to do work or socialize while enjoying great drinks/food. Stop by and give them a try.

Nice interior space with comfortable seating. I got the Taro Cloud that I was quite happy with. Would like to return for the food as it looked like a good selection.

Societea is a boba place in San Bruno. They have boba and snack. The snacks include fried chicken and rice plates. The drinks include variations of boba and coffee. I got the taro cloud and fried chicken. Both items were a 3/5 for me. The drink was too sweet to a point that it just tasted like sugar. There was a hint of taro, but I did not taste much of it. The fried chicken was flavored well but it was dry. The service was great, I was able to get my food very quickly. Even though the food is mediocre, I have to give it to the vibes. The vibes are immaculate! This place is very cute.

Love the variety of food and drinks on the menu here, and very spacious seating area. Service was fast and friendly. I love the fun decor, art, and inviting ambiance. This is a solid spot to chill with friends and enjoy a drink or two! I tried the Brown Sugar Latte with boba, 50% sweet and I really liked it. Definitely recommend sticking with the sugar adjustment, I think that it might be a little too sweet if it was regular sweet. The boba was perfectly chewy, not hard nor too soft. I prefer milk teas over other types of boba and this one was on point! This was not my first time here and I remember I've tried their tteokbokki in the past. Looks like that's no longer on the menu but I enjoyed it! Would definitely explore their food options here.

Whoa - this place is HUGE! Don't be fooled by their humble storefront.. they have a whole section towards the back with plenty of comfy seating, coffee table style seating for easy conversation, and work desks for those who wants to hang out and study and work. Their drinks are pretty good at good prices. And most of all, I really like their K-Style snacks: K-Potato Dogs, K-Cheese Dogs, fried chicken nuggets, etc. They are all super yum and perfect for hang out and studying. Nice clean environment. Friendly service. Good drinks and snacks. Thumbs up!

Nice vibes and asthectics! This boba spot is also a good selection for food and milktea. I ordered a bugolgi banh mi and a mango black tea. Pretty good and tasty, I like how they ask if I wanted jalapeños or not, very considerate for the non- spicy eaters. Lol The service was fast and sufficient. It was clear where to get your drink and they have food delivered to you. Will come again and bring my laptop and appetite!

I absolutely love Societea! This spot is always such a fun and cute place to stop by--it's super clean and has a really welcoming vibe. It's my go-to when I need a sweet pick-me-up. Their boba is so good--perfectly chewy and flavorful every time. I've also tried their food, including the sandwiches and bowls, and they're just as amazing! Everything I've had has been super yummy, fresh, and full of flavor. They offer great options and it all feels well worth the cost. Definitely a fave for drinks and bites! Service is always nice. Parking isn't too bad, there's street parking and also lots in the back.

I wanted a small bite, so ordered a popcorn chicken ($8) and Jasmine milk tea ($6) at the counter. The cashier was super patient. You can also sign up for rewards too. The restaurant was modern and there's plenty of seating in the back area, definitely a good place to hangout. My food was pretty quick which was awesome. I also saw other drinks being made and the matcha color looks like the powder may have been oxidize. Sadly, the Jasmine tea was water down. The boba can also be better, it was just super soft which can be seen in my photo. Uneven shape in my drink. Popcorn chicken can have more crunch, though the chicken pieces were tender. The spice coating was uneven, but it had great flavor.

The Brown Sugar and Mango Calamansi
    Ruby B.

the brown sugar was really good, a little bit on the sweeter side so i'd recommend ordering 25% sweet HOWEVER the mango calamansi was really underwhelming and tasted like water with a hint of calamansi. i'd also like to include that the girl who took our order seemed like she hated her job and barely wanted to take our order. i was really nice and greeted her hello and she stood there not looking at me or saying a word until i told her what i would like to order and even then she was unpleasant.

Cute boba shop with lots of seating in the small strip area in San Bruno. The review is only for the drinks. We got the matcha latte and the brown sugar matcha. The drinks were okay and we know it's not ceremonial matcha but the grade is pretty subpar. The boba was too soft and did not have the bouncy firm texture it should have. The drinks were more of 2.5/5. Would love to try their food items in the near future. It's nice that they have a tuesday deal going on, buy 1 get 1 50%. Other than that, service was good. Lots of photo ops and very family friendly. Having games would be a great touch as well!

Seems like a good spot to chill with boba and snacks, since it is so spacious with seating in the front and the back. They have a lot of snacks ranging from entree type items and appetizers. Drinks seem to be on the sweeter side and are okay. Tried the popcorn chicken, waffle fries, and Brussels sprouts and would say I liked the sprouts the most, followed by the waffle fries! I got a black milk tea which tasted a little like earl grey which I suppose is technically a black tea blend. The milk teas are made with half and half but they have soy milk, oat milk, and almond milk for substitutes! Small parking lot in the back but also a lot of metered street parking available!

We've…read moretraveled quite a bit and tried sushi in many different cities, including around the Los Angeles area where we live and have our favorite spots. So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

We had heard such great things about Hula Hoops and were excited to come for Mother's Day brunch. When we arrived Sunday morning, we were seated right away, which was great. However, our party of six was seated with only three food menus and five drink menus. I asked our waitress if we could get additional menus for the rest of the table, and she explained they had run out and were waiting for other guests to finish with theirs. We ended up asking if there was a QR code version we could scan, and she brought one over. I was mostly confused why the QR code wasn't offered immediately, knowing half the table didn't have menus to begin with. It just made the start of the experience feel a little disorganized. That said, there were definitely some positives. The sparkling cider for Mother's Day brunch was a really nice touch, and the Shanghai lumpia was fantastic. I ordered the two-protein silog breakfast with eggs, and while the flavors were good, the single scoop of rice just didn't feel proportionate to the rest of the plate. Any Filipino knows you need a little more rice to balance everything out, so I ended up not finishing my meal because it felt off portion-wise. My son ordered the cheese omelet and said it wasn't his favorite, especially the potatoes. The ube waffles were really yummy though, and my husband enjoyed the sisig tater tots. Overall, I'm glad we finally got to try Hula Hoops after hearing so many good things, but unfortunately it didn't quite live up to the hype for us, and I don't think we'd return.

We ordered the following: 1) Deconstructed lumpia - more difficult to eat than the classic lumpia but the flavors were so bomb that it was worth the effort. 2) Patatim - reminiscent of paksiw na pata but with mushrooms. The meat just melts in your mouth! 3) Bistek tagalog - their take on steak and fries, but better. 4) Kaldaretang baka with bleu cheese mash - classic kaldareta flavors on a bed of mash potatoes. We were a little unsure about the bleu cheese part, so our waiter offered that it can come on the side. We tried it with the dish and while it was good and added a tang, bleu cheese is just not for me so I'm glad we got it on the side! The meat was cooked perfectly - still a little pink on the inside so it wasn't chewy or overdone at all. 5) For dessert, we got the buko pandan which my mom absolutely loved. Owner (I think) and ancestor of Inda, Raquel, came out to greet us and ask how everything was. She was so kind and glad we had enjoyed the flavors. She even boxed up our leftover for us! Food gets a solid 5 stars - I would give more if I could! For atmosphere, I give it a 4 as it was a hot day I don't think the place has AC, so it was really warm in there. For service, I also give it a 4 because although our waiter was super friendly, kind, and very helpful, I felt that he could have checked in more. For cost, I feel that everything was priced fairly. It's just a little more expensive than your "regular" Filipino restaurant. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be back!

We ordered several things off the menu including the appetizer sampler (fried calamari, fried shrimp, wings, and lumpia Shanghai), garlic rice, pandit bihon, bangus sisig, chicken adobo, pork sisig, bangus sisig, and crispy pata. I ate the fried calamari and shrimp, bangus sisisg, garlic rice, and a piece of chicken adobo. I also ordered a side of fried egg to make my dish a silog. Loved the fried rice and bangus sisig. I apreciated that the fried egg was perfectly overeasy with a runny yolk. More often than not I get the yolk cooked nearly all the way through. The other dishes were satisfying as well. I can't vouch for the pork sisig, but it was unanimously agreed by the other guests in our party that Patio's is the best. We shared desserts among each other including the fried flan and frozen mango. The fried flan was fun to try once. The frozen mango dish was so unique. This is the last straw for me and I won't be returning ever again. The prices are insanely expensive for the tiny portions. There are much better Filipino restaurants in the surrounding areas. I have heard from several friends that the place was good…read more I personally enjoyed the strong tea flavors, but I also like fruit-infused teas, so I chose Osmanthus Oolong tea with passion, konjac, light sugar, and less ice. I am so in love with the tea here, it tastes exactly the way I like it. I love how they use the teapresso machine to brew the tea leaves which makes the flavor stronger. The cafe's decor looks clean and it has a good vibes, and when I went, it was not too busy. You can also order through their application and earn points or at the Kiosks and put your phone number to earn points as well.

Chicha San Chen is the super hyped bubble tea shop from Taiwan that's apparently won a bunch of tea…read morerelated accolades that I won't pretend to be remotely familiar with. Their ordering system is entirely via two kiosks, which can be annoying if the customers ahead are slow, ordering a bunch of drinks, or both. They really should have a policy for cashiers handling smaller orders (2-3 drinks or less) and forcing kiosks only for larger groups. The estimated wait times vary pretty wildly, so take their posted estimates with a grain of salt. It stated 15-20 minutes when I was there, but it took about 25 (and we were just the 2nd group in line, though there were clearly tons of queued orders already with people standing around or sitting waiting). When we finally got our drinks, the Classic Ding Dong Oolong Milk Tea and the Milk Tea with Taro Balls and Taro Paste, I was expecting really prominent tea flavor like you get from the best milk teas in Taiwan and HK, especially given their hand-brewing process for each cup (which partly explains why wait times balloon). Sadly, I got very little tea flavor from either drink. That said, the fresh taro paste and taro balls were very tasty, with the balls having fantastic QQ chewiness. Prices are a bit much though, at almost $10 for that drink alone. I honestly think they could cut costs on gimmicks like the rope carriers (cute for influencers, but pretty useless and likely jacks up the price for regular customers). One silver lining from the long wait is that we spilled over into a free tea tasting slot. Miranda was fantastic as our guide as she was super friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. She walked us through how their Lishan Oolong Tea (sold separately, not used for in-store drinks) is harvested and sun-baked into 5 different varietals, each with unique colors, aromas, and tastes (and following the sun both literally and figuratively in terms of names and descriptors). Overall, it's a fun experience if you enjoy that sort of thing (and your wait happens aligns with a tasting slot or you can always a reserve ahead of time as well), so 5 stars for Miranda and the tasting, but the actual milk teas were lacking and a disappointment given the hype, cost and wait.
