Grand Hyatt at SFO is a must stay when traveling in and out of San Francisco. Everything about the hotel is spectacular. Quail + Crane is situated on the 3rd floor of the airport connected hotel. If you can get a seat close to the floor to ceiling windows; one can see the airport and even some planes. I've only dined in for breakfast/or brunch, and so I can't speak much about the dinner offerings. But, I can say that the food has been delicious each time I've eaten here. I absolutely love Eggs Benedict, and so it's a no brainer for me if it is on the menu. One can upgrade the dish to include Thai style Dungeness crab cakes, and it is worth every penny. Service here is also warm and inviting. Depending on where one is going, the time of the flight, the time of season, and overall time one has; staying at Grand Hyatt SFO and getting a bite at sit down, in this case Quail + Crane; makes all the difference for a long journey ahead. read more

Seeing a play near by and staying at the Grand Hyatt. Decided to try Quail and Crane which is super convenient here at the hotel on the 3rd floor. Restaurant is very open with great views of airport terminals and airfield. Servers were very friendly and helpful, especially Flora. I ordered a cocktail and we brought a bottle of wine from home to enjoy. The smoked poke was very good and also really cool when they took the lid off at the table. We also noted that it was the first time we've had something like this that had enough wontons on the side. Normally you always run out. Not here. The sushi was good but very small for the price. The last thing we ordered was pasta with foraged mushrooms. This was our least favorite. Was expecting a creamy earthy pasta with the mushrooms but the mushrooms almost seemed pickled. There was a very vinegary taste from the mushrooms that was off putting. The pasta was also very very al dente. Way too undercooked for us. Lastly this place can be a little pricey. One year later and we were back at Quail and Crane for an almost identical breakfast. Brioche French Toast and Ham Steak for me. While the French Toast no longer had the yummy cornflakes coating, it was still delicious. Maple syrup always a treat. DH enjoyed his three-egg, four-item omelet. It came with potatoes and toast (several bread choices) and kale salad. DH is not a fan of kale so it was more of an untouched garnish. I skipped the French Press coffee. It was very strong just as DH prefers. I found the tomato juice was perfect for breakfast. I wonder if it was house-made. It was a bit lighter in color than what I am used to. The restaurant, located on the 3rd floor of Grand Hyatt SFO, is lovely designed and a great place for plane spotting at the International Terminal. We had dinner here a couple times, and on a recent stay we decided to skip the free food in Regency Club and dine here. Well same as before, food is fine, sushi is fresh, service is great, but price is high. Nothing really wrong with it, but going forward I think I would prefer to eat dinner at the bar upstairs on 4th floor, their all day menu is more appealing and price is definitely better. Breakfast however is absolutely wonderful and more reasonable. We had a great breakfast before taking a long flight out of International Terminal. Grand Hyatt SFO is the best airport hotel in the US in my opinion. We frequented often and will definitely be back here again for the wonderful breakfast. read more

Located in the Grand Hyatt at SFO this is their main dining room. There's also a bar/pub and 24 hour grab and go upstairs. This restaurant is very nicely appointed and comfortable. It doesn't feel stodgy, but still upscale. The menu isn't broad but has enough to satisfy most palates, with an emphasis on Asian fusion. They have a variety of sushi available as well. The drink menu is on a tablet to peruse. I decided on a 'woke dish' from the menu, the Shrimp Fried Rice. It was a nice portion with a mild taste, even with jalapeño (which seemed skimpy at best. I found one slice.) The shrimp were tasty and grilled nicely. We were offered complimentary house bread which was good. I washed it down with a 9oz Sauvignon Blanc. We love the hotel and like the restaurant very much. Good menu with healthy and well sourced ingredients. However, the dumpling soup had one of the blandest broths I've ever had. I love wonton soup. Sometimes I don't have to add anything except some hot spice, most often with that and some Tamari or Soy, it is great. This one could not be rescued. Like dishwater. Fantastic place for dinner and breakfast. We stayed overnight at the Grand Hyatt SFO for a staycation and enjoyed two meals here. The crab cakes are really delicious and I enjoyed the tuna poke presentation with the glass top being removed at the table. Kid friendly is a plus as well as excellent and attentive service in a beautiful space. We went back for breakfast this morning and ordered 4 entrees. The only disappointing one was the avocado toast - we didn't like the mustard tang or lettuce on the toast. The eggs Benedict with crab cakes were yummy as was the breakfast sandwich made with French toast. The bagel for the salmon was okay, but everything else was really delicious. My friend and I came here for a birthday celebration! Now you're wondering, out of all the places to eat in the Bay, why would I go to the the airport? Well this isn't located in the airport, it's located the Grand Hyatt at SFO. The best way to get here is just drive and they have valet parking for just 10.00 , as the restaurant has the three hour validation. You can pay in cash or by card. The restaurant is located on the third floor and you get views of the south side of the airport. You can easily make your reservation online using RESY. The host gave us a table by the window which was amazing because I love planes and I felt so close to the planes. The menu is on the table so make sure you see all their categories and pages. It ranges from sushi to full course meals. My friend and I opted to get the Thai crab cakes. Ahi tuna, ginger miso carrot soup, pan seared scallops and miso black cod. Our appetizers came out first and here are my thoughts Thai crab cakes 5/5 - stuffed with a lot of crab and the batter wasn't too thick. This was tasty Ginger Miso carrot soup- 3/5- a little bit spicy, it came with a cracker but the cracker was like a shrimp chop and was too oily Ahi tuna -4/5 - good but the chips were a little oily as well but it's good they made it in house Main course -seared scallops - 5/5 - cooked to perfection! This was cooked so well and the edges were gave it's crisp . Miso cod 5/5- this was so fresh and tender. I loved how they made this as it melted ok your mouth. The black rice that it came with was ok, I felt that it didn't need rice or maybe they can give me less if it. I'm always skeptical of restaurants within hotels; however, in this case, Quail + Crane was one of the few outstanding ones I have been to. When I walked in, the front desk and servers greeted me with a smile and positive attitude. The food was impeccable. I had their salad, poke appetizer, and ribeye steak. The salad was a good portion with fresh greens and was refreshing to munch on after a long day of travel. The poke was good, nothing spectacular. The steak, though--my goodness, was it delicious. It was cooked a perfect medium rare (perfected better than even some steakhouses I have been to) and was incredibly juicy and flavorful. The prices were steep, but that's what you can expect at a hotel restaurant in SF (let alone connected to SFO). However, the service and quality of food made up for it. And what can I say: I'm a bit disappointed. I wa looking forward for some good food, but they're very average. The seafood pasta was a bit spicy for my friend. The steak was overcooked. Recently their food has gone downhill. We went there for Valentine's Day and we were excited about the food that we ordered only to be very disappointed. I got the rack of lambs and my boyfriend got the filet mignon. I got more sauce and carrots than I did meat. I literally got bones. I paid $50 for bones. I'm not sure if our server was new but we got our food out way before we got our drinks and our drinks were the first thing we ordered. She forgot our order of the wine so we didn't get wine until we were finished with our food. we asked her for steak knives when we got our and we didn't get it until we were done eating. We had to use a butter knives to cut through the rack of lambs and filet mignon. We paid 140 for our whole meal and it was a very disappointing & unsatisfying Valentines Dinner . We ended up going upstairs to the café and ordering a box of pizza and oatmeal cookie. I feel like I could've went to Costco and have ordered that for my Valentines meal instead of driving an hour and a half to do that. This is a local restaurant inside the Grand Hyatt connected to the San Francisco airport. The ambiance is LOVELY. It feels both vintage and upscale at the same time. The wait staff is extremely inviting and pleasant. The food though...it's plated perfectly but just okay in terms of flavor. It's clear that you're paying for the experience and ambiance. I was partially pulled in to the thought of this place by the reviews talking about how good the sushi is. Unfortunately there was no sushi the day we went. I was told they'd have it back the next day. Since I wasn't very hungry, I ordered the crab cakes instead. They were kinda of flavorless, and the crab meat seemed shredded/stringy. They needed the "salad" it's served with to dress up the flavor. Because the drink menu is so fancy to explore (imagine full screen pictures on the ordering tablet along with intriguing descriptions), I ordered one. I can't remember what it was called but it's intended to mirror an old fashioned. Hubby had the burger. It came with their version of steak fries. Other reviews are correct that the "fries" are waaaay too salty. They are also much thinker than a traditional steak fry. They are like miniature fry bricks in size and, in my opinion, much too thick. To be clear, steak fries are my favorite kind of French fry. I love how "meaty" they are, but these...nah. Pro tip: while there was no pizza on the menu, they have a wood fire oven and churned out some beautiful looking pizza pies for a couple of young girls seated at one of the tables. So if you have your little ones in tow, ask what they can make shake for them. It may come from the menu of the other restaurant above this one in the hotel lobby. It was clear that they share preparation (for instance, the cocktails for Q&C were coming from the bar upstairs), so this is plausible. read more

It was a little tricky taking the SFO Red Line Air Train to get to the Grand Hyatt. Every stop is announced EXCEPT the Grand Hyatt. It just stops after Garage A with no announcement at all about which stop it is. Be sure and get off after Garage A, it's just a few hundred feet past it. Anyway, once you find the Grand Hyatt, you'll like what you see. It's really nice. Quail + Crane has a very pleasant, open atmosphere. It's a very nice restaurant but it's also very casual. I noticed the servers were wearing blue jeans. There are planes parked right across the street, and you'll have a nice view of them. It's a really nice, casual place to meet for a meal and have a chat. Oh yeah, the food. That's why it only gets 3 stars. I had the Wagyu burger. $34. It was OK. It was cooked just right, but it wasn't anything spectacular. It reminded me of a Red Robin burger. It was messy and juicy which is OK with me. I ended up eating it with a fork and a knife. It was too salty, though. The burger came with a few wedge fries that were very undercooked. They looked good, but they weren't good at all. The cheese on top of them wasn't even melted and there was a huge wedge of garlic on top of them for no apparent reason. Very disappointing. My friend had the vegan fried rice. $24. She enjoyed it. It was mostly rice. I had a bite. It was basically flavored rice with a few goodies on top. I say go for the atmosphere and not for the food. You could probably find a better meal at the food court in any of the SFO terminals for half the price. Our server had to cover tables at the bar upstairs so my ice tea glass remained empty for quite some time. I had to ask another server for a refill. All the staff was really nice, though. read more

I splurged and decided to stay overnight at the SFO Grand Hyatt prior to a flight, and since we were already splurging, also decided to eat here for dinner. It was ... ok. I got the Wagyu Burger, which was tasty, but the steak fries that accompanied it were way too salty. Service was friendly, but slow -- it took about 40 minutes for our food to come out, and the restaurant didn't seem overly busy at the time. In addition, the drinks we ordered came out at very different times -- my wife got her glass of wine fairly promptly, but it took the bar another 10-15 minutes for my margarita. At least the interior decor and view of the airport terminals and tarmac were spectacular, making the wait a little more enjoyable. It's worth eating here for the view and ambience, but there are a number of other much more affordable dining options at the airport (pre-security) that you can get to easily by hopping onto the AirTrain, so at least you're not a captive audience! read more

Ok, ever needed a place to hang out when at SFO for a few hours? Because this is the spot to do it. They are located inside the Grand Hyatt hotel, which you can get to by airport shuttle. They had no problem with me and my husband dragging our luggage in and dining while we waited for our flight. The menu was relatively simple but plenty of options, and honestly great portions for the price. The decor and ambiance are great and plenty of spots to get some work done or meet for a business deal. Also they offer alcohol which many people would consider a plus. We returned to eat and Helen made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. The service was fast and friendly but I couldn't bring myself to give it 5 stars simply because the pumpkin soup I ordered was not tasty at all. It was sweet and the aromatic spices(i.e. ginger) overpowered the soup. I always thought that pumpkin soup would be difficult to mess up. I ended up tossing the entire soup after 1 teaspoonful and their prices aren't cheap. Their vegetable pasta was tasty and their cheesecake dessert went really well with the coffee in my hotel room. I just really love this hotel and this restaurant is no exception. I am a Hyatt Globalist, which gets you free breakfast during stays - and the breakfast was delicious! I recently stayed for two nights and tried: the crab eggs benedict, the breakfast sandwich, and the fruit plate. And there was truly not a bad bite. Everything was vibrant and fresh - and incredibly generous portions for a hotel restaurant. The service was attentive without being overwhelming or feeling like you were rush. And the ambiance is so fun - well decorated, relaxed environment, with a fun ability to watch the planes coming in and out from SFO. My only regret is that I didn't try dinner - but the food in the Grand Club was excellent, which seems like it comes from the same kitchen - so I am sure a full dinner service would be excellent! read more

Came by the other day for dinner and it was a tasty experience. Quail + Crane is located inside the Grand Hyatt at SFO and is accessible by AirTrain or via McDonnell Rd. Parking is either valet through Hyatt or at SFO. International garage A is the closest at $2 for every 15 minutes. Made a reservation prior to arrival and our table was ready upon arrival. Staff were wearing uniforms, mask along with gloves. The menu was a tablet with pictures. Started off with the house smoked ahi tuna poke which was tasty. The kitchen staff brought this out to our table with black ice as a visual. The wonton chips were a touch salty and the chips were on the darker side possibly due to older oil. The pan seared scallops and king salmon cakes were huge and also on the saltier side. There were 2 huge cakes filled with 95% king salmon that was cooked well done. The scallops were miniature. The seared scallops were world class with 4 super thick and huge scallops roasted summer squash, corn puree, prosciutto, corn and tomato salad. The quick cured hamachi crudo was also quite tasty with white peach gazpacho, shoyu, yellow tomato and english cucumber. The menu had some interesting anomalies including "hand picked lettuces" (plural of lettuce is lettuce) along with "Seared Scallop $41" (there were 4 huge scallops) Service was attentive by the staff although the staff seemed frazzled and overwhelmed possibly due to a labor shortage? ~$40/head after tax and gratuity for dinner along with a $.09 tourism fee. read more

Omelet - mediocre in terms of the taste. I know the price includes hotel premium, but it still felt a bit pricey considering how small the portion was for a not so special ingredients. Brioche French toast - I actually loved it. Highly recommend it if you end up here Corned beef hash - the most disappointing dish. I was expecting more of a mushy texture or at least more flavored potatoes. It tasted like I ordered ham and potato, not a corned beef hash. Buttermilk pancakes - I was excited to eat this dish which ended up as 90% leftover. I wish the sauce used in this dish was subtle as caramelized bananas were already delicious and sweet enough. The whole dish was WAY TOO SWEET that no one in my family was able to finish them. I'd say, go here if you stay at grand Hyatt hotel sfo and too lazy to go elsewhere for a breakfast. Wow. This is the first time I was actually impressed with not just a hotel restaurant, but an AIRPORT hotel restaurant. The food was very good and the atmosphere at this place was relaxed and elegant. We had reservations, but we didn't need them because it wasn't very crowded for dinner on a Saturday night. Our first waiter was great. He was attentive and helpful when we were ordering. Because the restaurant was so slow, unfortunately he ended up leaving and the waiter who took over wasn't so great. We had to get his attention to order dessert and to sign for the meal. I ordered a dozen oysters for my appetizer and the steak with chimichurri sauce for my entrée. The oysters were delicious, and the steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was grass fed beef, so it was a little bit tough, but other than that it was good. I'd highly recommend the panna cotta with boba. I wanted to order it because it looked interesting and was not disappointed. Their in house restaurant Quail & Crane was just one of the options for guests, including a lobby bar and self service 24 hour snack area (that was VERY expensive-$15 for 3 bags of snacks). But overall the restaurant prices were very reasonable from drinks to food, offering mostly Asian fusion cuisine and a full bar. Their menus are all on tablets, and their staff was universally professional, kind, and efficient. Since I wasn't driving until the next day, I ordered a Grey Goose Dirty Martini and it was the perfect antidote after 6 hours on the road :) Their tomato soup was a welcoming light comfort start to a meal. I ordered the Bloomsdale spinach salad, which used crisp pork belly instead of bacon, for a hearty savory crunch, and this meal was very hearty and HUGE so it would have made for a great meal by itself. Not knowing the portion sizes until I ordered, I also had the fried rice which was easily enough to feed 3 people! On my return trip, I learned to order less, but again the gem salad was probably enough for a full meal, but I was hungry, so I ordered the fried chicken, which ended up being two meals with the gai lan and coconut rice on the side.
