La Matche Cafe is another hidden gem as it is relatively hard to notice when passing by as it is accross the street from Burlingame Plaza and it is located at the Peninsula Life Science Center on the lobby floor. I had a great experience coming here and the owner and the team are super friendly. They opened before the pandemic and have been serving workers nearby for years. The inside is small, but it's very cozy and has some seating available. Their matcha lattes and sandwiches were really good. They pride themselves on using fresh ingredients/fruit and not using powder. The Iced Matcha Latte ($6) was something I had to try especially when it is part of their name, but it did not dissapoint. This is definitely better matcha than any other shop in the area. It had just the right amount of sweetness and you can taste the matcha flavor. I had to pace myself and not drink it too fast because it was so good. I got mine with Oatmilk and you can also add lychee or boba as well. I got to try the Turkey Pesto Sandwich ($11.49) and Ultimate Club Sandwich ($12.49). Both were great sandwiches although I give the edge to the Turkey Pesto because I love pesto and all the ingredients were so fresh. If you are in Millbrae or Burlingame then I recommend coming here for a drink or sandwiches/salads. Parking can be a little challenging, but I think it is worth the trip here regardless. read more

It is on a narrow side road in the lobby of an office building and seems it mostly caters to those in workforce in the area. I was driving home and was in the mood for some matcha latte and La Matcha Cafe was a minute away, had great YELP reviews and also the name was enough for me to try them!! Mango matcha latte - I was surprised that it had real mango bits in it. Once mixed together, you can taste the mango and matcha separately, but it was the perfect blend. It's not super sweet, but you can still taste the mango with the matcha. 2. Mochi muffins flavors (in order that I like and highly recommend). These were still nice and warm when I purchased it. #1. Strawberry matcha - Has bits of fresh strawberry. Perfect balance of tart and sweet. Consistency of the muffin was light and couldn't get enough of it. It wasn't #2. Pandan- Lightly sweet but didn't have a significant taste. #3. Almond sesame - This was good. It just had a strong almond taste. I wasn't really a fan. 3. Free parking on premises so no worries, but I then found myself circling 2 1/2 times trying to find the La Matcha Cafe door lol. Instead of looking for an entrance I found following the signs more useful. Finally finding La Matcha Cafe inside the sterile lobby, near the elevators, is when I enter to a rather charming spot with warm decor and just enough seating. The two young ladies, who I also believe are the owners, greeted me as I order the Mango Matcha Oat Latté! The price point seemed a tad steep, especially not being in the city, but hey let's just do it! After a short couple of minutes my Mango Matcha Oat Latté is ready! After a couple of mandatory influencer pics... I take my first sips mmm. Definitely hit the spot! The Matcha mingling perfectly with the Mango purée, the Oat a nice balance to a wonderful drink! I had high hopes for this cafe and really thought this was a neighborhood hidden gem based on the solid 5 star reviews. Unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. From the looks of it, they basically buy everything from Business Costco and make simple items. I can make the same croissant sandwiches at home. I did try the mochi muffins and got a good sampling of all their available flavors. They're quite expensive $14 for 4 and each muffin was pretty small. I also waited a really long time for them and it sounded like they were already premade from awhile back and they just reheated for me. La Matcha is a very small cafe tucked away inside a business building on the other side of a big shopping plaza on El Camino. La Matcha is a hidden gem! I did not find out about them until this year but since then, I've become a regular for their drinks and sandwiches. First off, the service is great. The ladies that run the place are very accommodating and friendly. Sometimes, there's a big rush around lunch so they will tell you an approximate time for when your order is ready. Second, I think any drink that they make is great. I usually get a strawberry banana smoothie (they even do less sugar) or an iced mocha but their passion fruit mixed tea is also delicious. Lastly, their sandwiches are well balanced and hit the spot. Specifically, I like to get the Ultimate Club with extra meat. If you have enough room, I highly recommend the mochi muffins for dessert There isn't a lot of seating but it is what you'd expect for a cafe. Honestly, I really liked the stop here. Very tiny space, great for quick breakfast sandwiches, lunch, and beverages. It's inside a tall office building with a free parking garage and parking lot behind it. You can also park in the front entrance area of the office building, but note that too many cars will stop and do nothing or not go, creating a parking traffic jam near the ATM machine down the same street. Signs easily lead you to the cafe. La Matcha Cafe had no lines around 10 AM - 11 AM on a Wednesday. You can sit inside on the bar chairs facing the front windows to eat, or sit in the lobby area across from the elevators. Beautiful black and white photos to look at in the lobby area. Not much tables or seats. Cashier took our orders quickly and they do accept credit cards. They get most of their customers from other businesses inside and near the building. Food tastes excellent. First impression looks good. Cashier is efficient. Beverages are excellent. Today, we had a hot cup of dirty matcha latte, croissant breakfast sandwich, breakfast muffin with the avocado and eggs, and a very delicious matcha brownie. They were very generous with the eggs, so the sandwiches were very fulfilling. Inexpensive. We waited nearly 10 minutes to get our order since it was early in the morning. Not many customers yet. Easy parking. Everything was good and carefully wrapped in layers, making it a very clean finish. I will come back to try the mochi bites next time. Maybe I will try the lunch sandwiches and salads too. I think this is a great spot if you are around the BART and CalTrain areas. Finally did over time so I can come here after work. If you can't find parking, there's a parking garage near by that has a visitor section. I asked what the top 3 popular sandwich is and the lady said it was the turkey pesto, grilled chicken, or the ultimate club sandwich. But then she changed her answer and said the sandwiches are all equally popular ‍ so I just stuck with her first answer and went with the turkey pesto sandwich. I also ordered the mango matcha latte which was on their La Matcha Cafe Specials with lychee jelly and it was really good. I had a Yelp check in and got a free macaron. I tried their strawberry matcha flavor but they do have other flavors like strawberry, passion fruit, chocolate, Oreo, and almond. If you look at the picture I took of the macaron, you can see the texture isn't as smooth as what the display looked like or what I'm use to looking at.... But don't be fooled by the looks. I'm impressed by the croissant breakfast sandwich. The sandwich is toasted in such a way where there's a delightful crunch in every bite. The sandwich had a generous portion of egg. The bacon was crispy. The cheese was perfectly melted. I'd come here again for their sandwich. I had a bite of my partner's BBQ pulled pork sandwich on Dutch crunch, and the bread also had such a nice crunch and texture. Whatever this little cafe is doing to serve up delicious sandwiches, please keep it up! The macaroons are also delicious. La Matcha Cafe is a small cafe inside a business building. The parking is horrible here, so parking may be somewhat difficult to find. Once you enter the building, the cafe itself was not that hard to find. There are a few seating/tables inside, but there were a couple of kids sitting inside at the table closest to the counter/register (most likely the owner's or the employee's kids) and they were bickering/fighting/playing around, so it was not the most relaxing little spot for me to sit and get some work done. Not much decent service either - the employees did not seem that happy when helping me, compared with the other customer(s) after me. I tried ordering a jasmine milk tea with boba, but they did not have boba ready - I was ready to wait for it, but the employee told me it would not be ready for another hour (like 12 PM). I found that kind of strange, since they opened at 9:30 AM and close at 2:30 PM (according to Yelp) and they do not have boba the first 2 and 1/2 hours of opening and the last 2 and 1/2 hours before closing. Anyway, I decided to just get the green milk tea with no toppings (they only have boba and lychee jelly for toppings), since I was already there - it was $5 for a small size (she did not ask me what size I wanted or if I wanted any adjustments to the ice/sweetness, so I thought their drinks were not customizable) . I ended up adding 1 matcha strawberry macaron and 1 matcha strawberry mochi bite afterwards, since they are known for their matcha and I wanted to make a fair review - it was $7 for both, but I am not sure what the individual price for each one is because the employee did not turn the screen around for me to see this time). Honestly, I really wanted to like this place because a couple of my friends and I are matcha lovers, and I was excited to try it, so I could bring my friends here next time. Both the matcha strawberry macaron and mochi bite did not really have much matcha taste - it was very subtle and it tasted more like artificially sweeten strawberry with a very light/subtle matcha taste. Anyway, I felt like as matcha desserts, it would be a miss for me. The milk tea was even worse - it tasted like semi sweeten and watered down milk tea - I ended up seeing one of my friends afterwards and she told me that she rarely seen me not finish a milk tea, even when it was bad, so this says a lot. I ended up getting another milk tea somewhere else afterwards and finished that one, but not the one from here (I only drank about 25% of this one). Small cafe with pretty good boba/latte drink selections and sandwiches within the Peninsula Professional Center! I heard some small buzz about this cafe as I was yelping around the Burlingame and Millbrae area and decided to actively come to try it. It's on the first floor of this big Professional Center building. Normally little cafe/delis like these are just passable and accessible serving those that work in the building, but La Matcha has been actively trying to lure outside customers in as well with signs outside. Parking is pretty easy--there is plenty of 2 hour parking right outside the Professional Center. Get there by driving on Trousdale right past the large El Camino Real street and turning right away after passing the intersection. It was a bit confusing for me since the address says El Camino, but is actually on a small divided one-way street parallel to all the many lanes of El Camino. Note there have been some weird locked/broken door issues for the entering doors of the Professional Center. If the door isn't propped open so you can get to the cafe, you can always go around the building to the other side to an unlocked door. This small cafe has a pretty good selection of matcha lattes, boba drinks, as well as some sandwiches and homemade pastries. I ended up ordering the hot Ginger Matcha Latte ($4.50), which was just the right level of sweetness for me. I really liked how the matcha flavor stood out and that the ginger was subtly spicy! I also ordered the Ultimate Club ($9.50). It was one pretty delicious and loaded sandwich toasted with ham, turkey, bacon, tomato, avocado, mayo, swiss cheese on Dutch Crunch! Yum! Overall, I would definitely come back for another ginger matcha latte, or try their boba next time. While they can't completely beat out the largeness and cheapness of the Little Lucca dutch crunch sandwiches across the street, their Ultimate Club was a cleanly made and deliciously packed sandwich. The owners/workers are also nice. Though it's not the most comfortable place to hang out and chat coffee-shop style, it is a great place to pick up a hot drink! read more

So I was told to try this cafe located in Burlingame for a while now. So as I am making my plans to visit this some time soon, I was convinced to order a BLTA ( bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado ) sandwich, and mango passion fruit smoothie to go. Also I made an additional chicken with spicy mayo sauce to be added as well. Without question or any hesitation, the store fulfilled my request. very good. I cant wait to try their other pastries. Hole in the wall little cafe with cute interior design. Not to mention food and drinks are super delicious as well. It lays under Peninsula Professional Center. The place may be hard to locate but looking for the name where it lays will be easier for you to find. We had the ultimately sandwich and passion fruit mix which was very very refreshing.Both tasted satisfying. It is family owned and they have great customer service. The place is very clean and plenty of parking in the garage and around the area in general. A definitely must try. read more
