I came here for the first time with a group of four gals, and it was a nice casual café. I ordered the Korean mushroom, tofu bowl, and the pond on creamy drink thing. They were both delicious! The drink was sweetened and I got light sweet, but it was still pretty sweet and creamy. Very delicious though. The bowl was on a bed of rice that was seasoned, actually quite spicy, with lots of mushrooms and tofu on top. And some veggies as well. I've gone there multiple times and lately I've ordered the meat burrito with the kielbasa. However twice I've been given the avocado burrito. Luckily the first time I said to them I ordered the meat burrito and that was fixed. This time I ordered in store and picked it up and I got home and saw I was given the avocado burrito again!! I am so glad I found this spot - I can see myself visiting again very soon! I was here with a colleague for brunch on a Wednesday afternoon and I really needed some good comfort food. I ordered the pandan matcha and I got the chicken panini - so much goodness in this order! I loved how simple yet flavorful the panini was - I usually prefer them extra toasted and the server made sure it was perfectly extra toasted. Not too much to have crumbs all over SF - just perfect ! The pandan latte which I got as a hot drink - was so perfectly made. Loved my experience here! I could already tell, decent amount of seating and the sun shines into the huge windows of the establishment beautifully. Cozy, great vibes. Its very popular and well loved by the community. The menu is expansive enough where i think everyone can find something. I do think it was a tad expensive but you gotta support your small shops. Interesting selection of drinks, i got spicy chai and theres definitely a heavy kick to it. Lots of board games available as well. You can also bring your own, first hour is free but after that its $5/hour/person. Please also mind the time limitation for laptop usage. One of the cutest spots on Broadway! Plucky's is a cozy, family-friendly, inviting board game cafe with lots of delicious speciality drinks. This is the type of place you see a lot in San Francisco but surprisingly few of in the peninsula, so I love having this cafe right here in Burlingame. I've come here multiple times, and every drink I've had has been great. On my most recent visit, I tried the shadow dancer and absolutely loved it! It had a great balance of sweetness with a hint of cardamon spice - would definitely recommend trying this one. The service has also always been friendly and prompt. For how busy they consistently seem to be, our drinks always come out pretty quickly. And while I still haven't tried the food here yet, I will definitely be doing so on my next visit. I'm also consistently impressed with the variety of board games available for use here - there's enough here to keep friends and families entertained for hours. And even if you're not a board game person, it's just fun to walk into a cafe that so openly invites sitting down and hanging out, and to see groups of people laughing and being silly over their games of choice! This place is a blast! The interior is very playful, with cool movie or game related posters. There are tons of games to play. Some are free, and most are $5 per hour per person. You can pick any game from the shelves and start playing right away. The host will put a timer next to you to remind you when it's time to switch games after an hour or to remember that another hour would be charged after the mentioned time. This place is super cute! I can with my sister after lunch as we were in the area and wanted a sweet treat. The cafe is soooo cute! The artwork on the walls is amazing and adds to the vibe. Came kind of early and it was mostly just parents bringing their kids here so they can pick up some random board game and let their kids just bang on the pieces on the table while they ate. The options of board games looked extensive but I'm not sure how many of them had missing pieces judging from how the patrons used them. Food tastes good, but portion size is on the skimpy side. A cute board game cafe in Burlingame! I went on a Monday afternoon so it was not crowded. I was told to try this place for a while now and I'm glad I did. My strawberry matcha was gentle, with delicate flavors, good but I'd recommend going a little heavier on the matcha flavor. I love lemon cakes so I had to give this piece a try. I'd say the almond flavor is more prominent than the lemon, it's a light but slightly dense, sweet tasty piece of cake. The powdered sugar on top is yummy. This would be a wonderful spot to take your kids, family or even a light hearted date because they have board games that you can play. The inside is themed to board games too and is decorated nice. We browsed the games and see that some games are free and some must be paid for. It does make sense to be able to keep the games in good condition. Minus one star though as I hope they will reconsider the one hour limit policy on laptops. We went on a weekday and there were tons of empty tables. I'd love to come back to enjoy breakfast and work for a bit but 1 hour is just not enough time. I was so excited to finally try this place, so I stopped in during Flavors of the Peninsula. They had a special going where you could pick a drink and sandwich off their prix fixe menu (plot twist - it cost the same as just ordering the items off the menu so not really a "special"). I got the Tokyo Fog (matcha) and the caprese sandwich. Honestly, quite disappointing. The matcha was very bitter and didn't have any flavor, while the sandwich was extremely small for the price and lacked seasoning. By the end of the meal, I felt like I could have gotten a matcha and caprese sandwich over at Starbucks and would have been more satisfied. Everyone I interacted with who worked there were polite, but seemed like they would rather be anywhere else. I was welcomed by Jervey as I walked into the cafe. The music and vibe were absolutely what I was looking for before a crazy day at work. I ordered the wanderer coffee which was perfect for me. I also ordered avocado toast. I'd have to say if probably try something else next time. The toast was tasty but I make my own so my standards are a bit higher on avocado toast. This cafe has free games for the first hour, but only a few available like deck of cards, Exploding Kittens, and Uno but no board games were free. The deck of cards we tried to play with were all mixed up with another deck. There is a sign that says you have to check in at the counter so it's enforced although no one came up to us when our time was up but we returned the games ourselves. We also paid to pay board games which is $5 per hour per person which is $20 for 2 people for 2 hours. It took them a long time to get me a cup of water and I ended up going up to ask if I could service myself. They told me to wait a bit more so I sat back down. The food ended up coming out first before my hot water could, and the orange juice came last. The orange juice was too sweet for my companion but we enjoyed our entrees. the staff is friendly and welcoming and there was essentially no wait for my food & beverage since I came in at 2pm on a Wednesday. The cinnamon molasses matcha was yummy and the mushroom gruyère toast was the perfect quick bite (the only thing missing for me personally was black pepper since I like to load up most of my toasts with an excessive amount). We stopped at Plucky's cafe because Broadway grill was closed and we wanted to have a late lunch. We ordered a Tokyo fog and smoked salmon croissant to share (totaled ~$33). The Tokyo fog literally tasted like Matcha mixed with milk (1/5; for $7.50 this was beyond disappointing). The smoked salmon croissant was pretty good but overpriced at $22 (4/5; nice amount of salmon and nicely paired w/ capers and aioli). Furthermore, you have to pay to play the board games ($10/person!) at this 'board game cafe', which to me is just sad. In theory the ambiance should have been nice and chill but must every amenity cost?! If you prefer your coffee strong, you'll like the Mont Blanc Mindthief, consisting of cold brew, housemade black sugar, cream top, nutmeg, and orange zest. For $8 it's a bit on the pricey side given that it's 10oz and there was a giant ice cube but expected since it's a seasonal drink. The Holiday Spellweaver was matcha with housemade cranberry strawberry puree and milk. I was pleasantly surprised because I could definitely taste the cranberry and I like that it's a unique holiday spin on the typical strawberry matcha drinks that have gained popularity over the years. This drink was $7.50 which is about the going rate for strawberry matcha these days. While sipping our drinks, we played some of the free games available. I recently was briefly in CA for some family business, and happened to stop by this cafe with a friend to hang out for awhile. We played a few games and had some drinks and food. I was completely satisfied with my experience here, and delighted to discover this cafe. They have a lovely bright interior with plenty of tables to spread out your games, and a wonderful "order at the table" app option which is fabulous for refreshing drinks or ordering a snack in the midst of a game without leaving your table. They have a variety of boardgames to play, and some "free" games too if you want to drop in but paying for time is out of your food budget. I also really liked the variety of the menu, because they had not only entrees but more snack like items as well so if you wanted to get something light that is an option. I ended up getting a bowl of fruit and a few drinks and was really happy. The music is a bit loud, and they played rock music which was a bit odd, to me. I would have preferred some kpop or a variety channel than the rock music they were playing. For the future, to be honest, I think an e-juke box type thing would be amazing. Let people pick the music. That is probably one thing I would improve on this great place, and maybe some more bakery goods than what was offered. Overall, you won't be disappointed going here tho. Plucky's is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! It's low key but serves up an astounding menu and is a place that you can just sit and chill for several hours while you play some games. There is a fee to play the games but that's probably to keep you honest and ensure that heathens don't completely destroy them. I really enjoyed the butterscotch latte I ordered yesterday. 2 stars - for the laptop policy. My $7 Matcha was actually pretty good and the food looked amazing which is why I gave 2 stars. It was my first time and I do wish a disclaimer was posted on the front or somewhere apparent before I bought my drink and sat down to find the little reminder of me having 1 hour to work on my laptop and to enjoy the space. After my time was up, I proceeded to ask if I had to leave if I didn't use my laptop because I needed to read and they said they would give me 30 more min because of the limited space. Kind of disappointed I spent that much and didn't get at least 2 hours at a cafe. Should be a restaurant in this case. The cafe is actually really cool especially if you like games.
