This is a no frills old school diner. The staff were friendly and the service was great. Whenever I visit a new diner or brunch spot, I like to order the omelette dish as the benchmark. My food came out fast, almost too fast to the detriment to the food quality. In this case, with the way they mixed together the overly-done eggs with the other ingredients makes this feel more like a scramble than a proper omelette. The pancakes felt like they could sit on the grill for an extra minute or two. It felt undercooked and could use more browning. The biggest disappointment was the coffee. It was so watered down that all the decafs I've had were stronger than this. I really wanted to like this place given that it's a staple in the area. I wish this was by my house. We would be here all the time! It's a cute diner conveniently located near the Millbrae BART. They have plenty of parking outside and we were seated immediately upon arrival. We wanted to sit at the bar and the staff are all wonderful. We loved everything that we ordered! We had the blueberry pancakes that were fluffy and didn't hold back on the berries and butter. It was delicious! We also ordered a Spanish Omelette and liked the salsa and hash brown that came with it. It also comes with an additional side of pancakes! The portions are huge and we loved the 90s vibe inside. Tons of seating. Our waitress got busy so rather than letting us just sit and wait, some else came and took our order, which was awesome. They gave e us a whole carafe of coffee instead of having us wait on refills. We got the German apple baby, totally worth the wait and the price. Happened upon this place for breakfast on a Friday morning. Unbeknownst to me, my mother in law had been going here for many years/decades in some form. I can see why. After a long night of fun and drinks, I needed a good breakfast spot, especially since I we were staying the Westin, which was hosting a conference and was super busy in the morning. After some research and craving comfort food, the family and I decided on this spot. It's within walking distance, but we drove which was convenient and there was plenty of parking on a Saturday morning around 10 a.m. Their menu features dishes like loco moco, steak and eggs, burgers, hot and cold sandos that caught my eye, but I wanted something hearty. I knew a chicken fried steak would hit the spot, so I decided to share it with my partner. My sister ordered a burger, that hit. Her fries and burger both looked absolutely delicious, and the chicken fried steak was fantastic! It was early in the morning and we were hungry for breakfast (warm cooked breakfast) so we decided to visit this place. Walking was just a few minutes from our hotel and seems to be priced reasonably. Walking inside felt super nostalgic and the decorations made the place feel warm and comfortable. You can check in with a staff before entering the seating area and we ordered to go. There's a coffee shop counter inside which I don't think is open but was nice to check out. They also had a whiteboard of "specials" you can order that isn't part of the menu. We decided to try their loco moco to share and eat in our room. We asked for the gravy on the side in case so we don't have issues with spilling on the way back. It only took less than 10minutes and after paying and getting our food we went back. The meal came with toast or pancakes, we opted for pancakes which came with whipped butter and syrup packages. The sunny side up eggs were cooked well and we got our meat patty medium done. The gravy and rice was pretty ok and it came with a container of green onions. Overall pretty good, I think the place fits well for a nice sit down meal with a warm drink and family/friends. There is also a sign warning customers to be careful with parking your car with belongings just like anywhere else around the area, you never know what can happen. read more

Peter's Cafe is a local favorite. I like it better than the Bay Area favorite breakfast haunt in Millbrae. The staff is very personal, very genuine, and very accommodating. Special requests are no problem. Peter fills the cafe with restaurant with his hobbies, cars, surfing, and model planes. The cafe is dated with a 50's vibe. Lots of booths and a few private rooms to accommodate small meeting or large parties. This is a total dive, but make no mistake, the food and personal touch makes all the difference in a good time and fulfilling tummy. It's a family owned business and they are good to regulars. We tested them a little as he wanted a large table for the four of us. They didn't like it and said so but since they weren't busy they didn't move us. Then my friends arrived and they've been coming here for years so instant forgiveness. The food is diner fare. Nothing special and the place is slightly worn. But the people are nice once they get to know you. So while not a special experience, I do like them for recognizing regulars and being nice to them. Parking in shared lot. Fish and chips on the daily specials. Small portion of fish with a lot of fries. Don't let the old building fool you, this was a great breakfast place. I wanted to leave a glowing review because, not only was the food good and came out super fast but the service was exceptional. My father-in-law has rapidly developing dementia (we didn't realize how bad it was) and when we ordered, he ordered pancakes with his breakfast. When the waitress came to disperse everyone's plate, he asked where his toast was (which he didn't order). The waitress was SO gracious and just asked very kindly if he still wanted pancakes which he answered "no." I'm sure they were done already but they brought sour dough toast right over, no questions asked. Of course, the rest of us want to bury our face in our hand. Greetings to all, I have been coming to Peter's Cafe for some time now, but not most recently, so it was a big surprise to me to see that the new hours were from 7am to 3pm daily, well on this day I got there after hours. I will say though that on the Trip advisor site it still lists the old cafe hours of 6am to 11 pm , none the less; l will give the review of my last experience here. The food was great as usual or as expected for a dinner cafe, my French toast was on point along with my sausage and eggs; Mmm. The setting in this cafe and the lighting reminds me an old school Tv sitcom called Mel's dinner; with a lead waitress called Alice; Peter's just has the feeling of home cooked Every time I come here . The food is great which has its own unique personality, the service is fine and there is usually enough parking in the surrounding areas to comfortably enjoy your day. This time l was late to get here, but l will be earlier next time, and I will be back for more to come. read more

Service was amazing! Food was good to great! I ordered "home made, spicy Portuguese sausage." It was kind of dry and it was not spicy. I was disappointed. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The hush brown and the pancakes were very good. Others seem to enjoy their food. The ambience was ok. It is an old place but clean! My mother has passed by this place for forty years and decided it was finally time to try it out, considering it's been standing all these years. We were greeted and given the choice to sit wherever with our 7 people party. We ordered the farmhouse omelette (10/10), eggs Benedict (9/10), loco moco (7/10), biscuits and gravy (8.5/10), apple German baby (7/10), vegetarian omelette with ham (10/10). We highly recommend the omelettes as they made my Chinese grandmother say "wow, it's so delicious," for someone who has never said that about anything other than Chinese food. I also don't like eggs but the omelette was delicious. The portions are huge and many items come with multiple sides such as toast, potatoes and eggs, so it's definitely worth the price. Old school diner located on the corner of El Camino Real, has its own parking lot which is a plus. Service was good, our waitress was attentive. Unfortunately the food was just ok. Loco Moco was bland, patty was also not seasoned well and dry. The portion was generous and comes with pancake or toast. Love a proper old school diner and was delighted that this spot was near my hotel so I walked over for a late lunch. Since I was dining alone, I sat at the counter. I ordered an iced tea and the vegetarian sandwich and added Swiss with fries on wheat toast. The tea was fine and the sandwich was delicious and big.
