Ok, the matcha on its own at Good Thing isn't the tastiest thing for my palate. But the urban angel with the pistachio cream is insaaaaannnneeee!!!! My go-to dessert matcha. Their strawberry matcha is also solid, but the pistachio takes the cake for me. Workers are also so sweet! And they make insane sweet bites (I think in-house??) 10/10!
AMAZING cheesecake & pistachio matcha. The urban angel was perfect sweetness if you sip without a straw (using a straw gets more matcha, which is unsweetened at the bottom). The cream top is so good and has a super strong pistachio flavor. Would highly recommend the cheesecake too -- it's super light and creamy at the same time because it has multiple layers. The texture is perfect and one slice is a great size for sharing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space inside is pretty small and once it gets busy, it would be pretty hard to find seating inside or outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was quick.
I really like their hokkaido cheesecake but I find the drinks underwhelming, especially for the price. Urban Angel: Pistachio cream and matcha tasted good on their own, but when you mix them together, they magically cancel each other out and taste like nothing. Black Sesame Hojicha: Vlack sesame was very strong, could not taste the hojicha. Guihua Oat Latte with Matcha: Almost there but still underwhelming; couldn't taste the matcha too much as it was overpowered by the oat milk. Guihua taste was also pretty mellow. Cere tea has a better osmanthus matcha in my opinion.
1st time trying this unique cafe in Burlingame. Had a delicious Guihua Oat Latte (osmanthus tea syrup) which you can get hot or iced and with coffee or matcha. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Contemporary interior with only some seating in the front, but they also have a back patio with more seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very clean bathroom which is always a plus.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Good amount of metered parking nearby and around the corner. Would definitely stop by again to try more of their contemporary drinks.
Tried Goodthing Coffee and it was better than expected! I got the Urban Angel, and the pistachio cream topping was so good I honestly wish there had been more of it. The matcha was a bit lighter than I usually prefer, but still smooth and easy to sip alongside a cake. I initially thought the $12 tiramisu slice looked small, but it turned out to be pretty tasty and the perfect snack-sized treat that's just enough to satisfy without overdoing it. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when in the neighborhood, especially to explore more of their drinks and cakes!
Coffee and Hokkaido cheesecake were the highlights here! Loved how solid the pistachio einspanner was, and the guihua oat milk latte was also stellar.
I love the vibe of this place! The music was so good (early 2000s R&B in the morning? Yes please) and the whole shop smelled amazing from all the sweet treats they had. I didn't get to try any of it this time because I was saving my appetite for lunch, but I'll definitely be back for them. We came around 9 AM on a Saturday and were greeted right away. Our drinks also came out really quickly. I ordered the matcha latte which was decent and my husband got the pistachio einspanner - that one was fire. There's some seating inside, plus a little area in the back that's super cute and quaint. Overall, it's a really solid coffee spot with immaculate vibes. I'll definitely be coming back!

There was other drinks that I was interested in trying like some of the matcha drinks, but I rarely see an osmanthus-inspired drink at coffee shops. It is made already with oat milk, so I didn't have to ask for any milk substitutions. I thought it was pretty good in terms of a latte, however, I wish the osmanthus flavor was a little stronger. The barista mentioned that the latte would have more of a floral taste, but it felt pretty faint. Cost was pretty similar to other coffee shops in the area, since it was $8-9 for my drink with oat milk already included. Other than that, would come back if I'm ever back in the area. All I care about here is the matcha, it's REALLY great, super silky and the flavor is great, not too sweet, and not bitter at all. The baristas are always nice & accommodating. I only wish that they had more than 1 size, because it's pretty small, and a lot of ice so it ends up being kinda tiny, and it's $10..... soooo yeah. I'd love for it to be a little more reasonable, like $5-7 for the size, like where it costs other places, so I could feel like I could tip better. And if I had feedback I'd suggest to add another size option, like a large and make THAT one be the $10 option. So sizes would be cool. I am absolutely obsessed with goodthing coffee!! Specially their pistachio cream. It's sweet, thick, and nutty. I have never had anything like goodthing's pistachio cream elsewhere. You have to try either their pistachio einspanner latte or urban angel if you are here. The urban angel is their version of a matcha pistachio einspanner. Service is always great and the staff is super friendly! There's some seating inside the store and outside their patio space. Bathroom available for customers too.
As an eternally caffeinated individual, I'm always looking to scope out new coffee spots. And while I was sad to see Cafe Siete close, I have had very good experiences so far at Goodthing Coffee! Walking in, you're greeted with a welcoming, cozy atmosphere. You'll see people working on laptops, chatting amongst friends, and overall enjoying themselves in the laid back environment. While there isn't a ton of seating inside, there is also a small outdoor seating area for more options if you're looking to spend some time here. I've tried a few different drinks here and have enjoyed them all! Particular favorites of mine have included the Pistachio Einspanner and their matcha latte. But all their drinks are lovingly crafted - balanced, and rich with flavor. They also have a good variety of rotating drip coffees with unique flavor profiles that are usually quite tasty and fun to experiment with as well. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming, and really contribute to the home-y atmosphere. My biggest issue is that the prices can be a bit tough to swallow... up to $10+ for a drip coffee and $7 for a small standard latte is a bit steep (although I suppose to be fair, it's not too far out of bounds from other cafes in the area). Overall, I really enjoy Goodthing and will certainly continue returning for a consistently tasty and well-crafted cup of coffee!

I came last week and ordered an espresso. I love how they served it neatly in this wooden tray along with a small glass of sparkling water to cleanse the palate. It's the proper way and I appreciate it because most coffee shops do not offer the sparkling water with espressos. We need to bring this practice back! idk if you all know about the haaland x bellingham bromance (I LOVE IT) but this cafe is more like a haaland x son heungmin crossover. [[HIGHLIGHT]]they are very hygge viking nordic in the design and lot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] they use dak!!! yum yum. however they also are known for einspanners and matcha and asian pastries. so best of both worlds. HAALAND HA HA HA. anyway their coffee is okay. good not great like the name! maybe i ordered the wrong thing. i got the flat white - it was not bad but i wish i got a cortado or pourover. the flat white was too big for my liking so the milk masked the more delicate notes. there was like an aftertaste of something floral...jasmine? anyway i wish those notes came out more. ALSO they steamed a touch too hot which released some unsatisfactory notes in the milk. light roasts cannot pair with very hot milk!!! no bueno!!! anyway i may or may not come back. idk guys burlingame lacks some serious coffee game...3.5 stars, not worth the price read more
GoodThing is a cute coffee shop to try crafted cafe drinks. I love trying their specialty drinks - Pistachio Einspanner is my favorite. COFFEE: 8/10 SERVICE: 8/10 AMBIANCE: 9/10 COFFEE/MATCHA: 8/10 I can definitely see why their Pistachio Einspanner is one of their signature drinks. The pistachio cream was rich and flavorful without being too sweet, and the presentation was beautiful. My only reason for giving it an 8/10 is that the drink leaned a little more toward the creamy side than the espresso, but it was still enjoyable and something I'd recommend trying. I've tried their matcha and honestly thought it was great quality!! I noticed they sell Rocky Matcha, so I wonder if this is the matcha they use as well? If you are not a fan of just matcha and milk, I recommend you ask for a sweetener to add. SERVICE: 8/10 Service is pretty straightforward, and my order came out in a reasonable amount of time. Interactions with staff were pretty quick, but everything ran smoothly. AMBIANCE: 9/10 [[HIGHLIGHT]]This coffee shop is minimal, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. I recently stopped by Goodthing Coffee in Burlingame and ordered the Urban Angel, their pistachio matcha, and honestly the pistachio top deserves its own moment. It's incredibly creamy and easily one of the best pistachio foams I've had. You can really taste the quality, and it pairs beautifully with the matcha. I got it with oat milk, which worked well and didn't overpower the flavors. The space itself is very small but charming, tucked right off Burlingame Ave. It's easy to miss if you're not paying attention, but once you spot it, parking in the area is surprisingly easy. This visit definitely felt like a redemption compared to my first time here. On my previous visit, they didn't have what I wanted to order, and the experience felt a bit underwhelming. This time around was much smoother, and the drink itself really delivered. That said, I'm taking one star off purely for the price. It's very steep for the portion size. The cup is quite small for what you're paying. While I do think the quality justifies the cost to an extent, it still feels a little hard to swallow given how quickly the drink is gone. Overall, if you're a matcha or pistachio lover, this is definitely worth trying at least once. High quality, thoughtfully made drinks, just be prepared for the premium price tag. read more
I visited Goodthing Coffee on a Sunday (late) morning and found them fairly busy. This location is tiny - only a few tables of seating. They do have a small back patio, but it was wet from the rain. The interior was bright and clean, with paper lantern lamps and some funky wall decor pieces. The pastry selection wasn't super tempting for me, but the signature drinks sounded great. I chose the Black Sesame Einspanner, which was delicious - super strong sesame flavor, tasty sweet foam on top. I appreciate that they gave me a spoon for the thick topping. Pricing was a little steep, but I'd return to try the Pistachio Einspanner. read more

Lovee Goodthing coffee. Staff is always nice. My favorite drinks are the hojicha latte, and the pistachio einspanner drink. My friend got the cortado and it was really good as well. Space is kind of small but there's a cute little patio in the back you can hang. read more

Food: recommend going earlier in the day. The two drinks we wanted to try were out of stock... the pistachio drink was quite good but a steep $9. So not really something I would get more than once every few weeks. Service: cashier was nice and drink came out quickly! Ambiance: small seating area that people like to sit at for a while. The pistachio Einspanner and black sesame Einspanner taste great and have a creamy, smooth texture that makes these drinks really exciting. The chocolate chip pecan cookie was just meh. Is it a little expensive? Sure. But it sure is a delicious treat. Service was quick and easy, and they took a lot of care to present the drinks well, sprinkling the tops with pistachio and black sesame. Space is a little tight indoors, so you'll be sitting really close to your neighbors. I'd definitely come back (occasionally) for the drinks and to try the other pastries/cakes. read more
Both the pistachio and black sesame einspanners are pretty delicious and I would definitely come to get those ($$$ though). The matcha latte tends to run on the more bitter side even if you sweeten it fully which I think is fine as long as you're aware. It took me by surprise the first time I tried it though. With Cere tea opening up nearby, I will be going there for my matcha lattes but good thing Goodthing (ha!) has a market for the coffee and einspanners! Not much seating indoors but there are a few tables on the back patio (right outside someone's apartment or office space it looks like) so more of a grab and go type of place. read more

I tried the Urban Angel drink which is a matcha latte with pistachio cream on top. I'll admit that I heard about it on social media! It was super decadent and I enjoyed it. Not sure i'd get it again because of the steep price tag, but it was a yummy treat! I do want to come back to try the pistachio eispanner coffee though! read more

I had an appointment in the area, and decided to stop by on the way there. It was pretty busy at 10:30am on a Sunday, but the line went by quickly. I was torn between the Pistachio matcha or coffee and the cashier said it really just matcha or coffee preference for the day. I decided on the pistachio matcha with oat milk, which came out to be $9.80. Pretty pricey, but I knew I wanted to try it. And it was good! Not too sweet, and you can taste the matcha. I don't think I'd crave it, but it was worth a try. I'd love to come back and try the coffee version! It's pretty small inside, but there seems to be a good amount of seating and a small outdoor area in the back. read more
Went here with my girlfriend at 2:30 pm. Lots of street parking around and it's in a downtown area so it's pretty walkable. It was pretty busy when we got inside but no line to order, just the inside tables were taken but there is outside seating. You place your order with the cashier. There are many specialty, seasonal, and regular coffees to choose from along with teas! We got the Dubai chocolate cookie, was a solid cookie and everything tasted well. We got the tiramisu cheesecake which was delicious and delectable. For the drink we got the pistachio einspanner which was so delicious I love the nut bits in every sip. The sesame einspanner was really good. Flavor wise, they nailed the drinks but for the espresso I feel like the flavor overpowers it more, would recommend if you like more flavor than espresso taste. The place is a very good place to study and chill, for a cute quick coffee date, and the vibe is really nice. Super chill and love that there's an outside seating! read more

Love this new matcha spot on Burlingame Ave! Burlingame was missing a good matcha spot so I'm super excited about Goodthing. I usually get the Matcha Latte with oat milk and that's always solid. I recently tried the Guihua Matcha Latte, where they add osmanthus syrup and dried tea leaves. If you like your matcha with a little floral kick, it's a good option. My only gripe is I wish there was more working space! They only have a few small tables insides, so i would not recommend working from here. read more

I'm always in search of unique coffee drinks in the Bay Area and today came across a small coffee shop in Burlingame. There are a few chairs and spots to sit but I would say this is mostly a to-go shop. What caught my eye was the Pistachio Eispanner. At almost $9 for a coffee drink, it certainly isn't cheap but decided to splurge a little today. The drink comes with housemade cream on top, organic milk, and a sprinkle of pistachio nuts. When mixed together the coffee is smooth and satisfying. The pistachio nuts add an extra texture to the drink. The coffee itself is sold. Of course, there are other drinks as well including the traditional lattes, espressos as well as wells as a variety of matcha drinks. Definitely worth trying if you are in the mood to splurge as well! read more
Amazing cozy coffee spot. We went on a sunday afternoon and it was packed, but if you go on a non-busy hour, it is a great cafe to work at! They have a back patio for overflow and it's great when the weather is nice out. They also work quickly and drinks get served in a timely manner. I got a pourover and it was made well. They have a great selection of beans to pick from for pourovers and I quite enjoyed mine. However, I think their star player is the Guihua Oatmilk Latte. It's such a fresh and innovative new drink that I've never seen elsewhere yet. It's super refreshing when iced and really delicious on a hot day. I love it and was really tempted to get another coffee for the day just to get that drink for myself. We also stayed and chatted on the back patio basically until they closed, and they were super nice about us staying there a little over. I think their matcha is not the best, but hey, this is a coffee shop, not a matcha place. Definitely get their coffee drinks. Will definitely come back to get the Guihua drink and maybe try some of the cakes. Please don't rotate this drink out! Love this place! read more

Stopped by this coffee shop after a workout class at Basecamp. The menu was simple but I still had no idea what to order. Asked the Barista and he asked the rest of the crew what they recommended. The pistachio Einspanner was the winner and was described as a dessert coffee. It came out relatively quick after ordering. The drink comes out without a lid which you can help yourself too at their self serve area and a spoon to enjoy the whipped topping. It was tasty but I don't know about you but I prefer to drink my coffee not eat it so a lid when on right after tasting it. The coffee itself was good and bold. Together it was a good mix. I'm usually not much of a fan of pieces of anything in my coffee but the pistachio pieces were just fine in this coffee. The space was cozy with areas to sit. Very white and blue aesthetic. Fancy coffee as a treat? Yes, please! And whatever this einspanner is, I wanna try it!! Pistachio is having its moment everywhere and the cheese foam on this is so drool worthy. An Einspänner is apparently a classic Viennese coffee drink, traditionally made with strong espresso topped with a generous layer of sweetened whipped cream -- for those of you who don't like things sweet, don't worry -- it's NOT SWEET! The pistachio cream is deliciously rich so you won't be disappointed. Also ordered the popular Urban Angel $9 which had a good matcha essence and again with the pistachio cheese foam. Lastly I could not resist trying the matcha yuzu cheesecake $12 -- again, not sweet, so don't worry! It's rich but not dense. We sat at the little table by the window on a quiet Thursday morning around 8:30am Service could have been friendlier, especially since we're paying premium prices for a very small drink. Located in downtown Burlingame, parking here can be challenging. Once you walk inside, you get a cozy atmosphere; however there isn't much seating available so be aware of that. I would say that the coffee here is decent, but nothing sparked out at me to make it memorable unfortunately. The service here was decent and they were nice enough to answer any questions I had. I would mention that the coffee here is a little bit on the pricy side. read more
