Been a regular here for years. The toast sampler is my go to order, since you get a taste of the different types of toasts (savory and sweet options). The prosciutto and fig jam toast stands out to me because the saltiness of the prosciutto is balanced with the sweetness of the fig jam. The cafe uses ACME Sour Bâtard for their toasts, so quality of the bread is superb. The matcha rose latte was really good, I asked for less sweet, which I prefer, and the drink wasn't bitter because of the adjustment. The waffle sampler was a sweet treat to share. The strawberry ricotta was my favorite, the fruit was perfectly ripe and a touch of honey for some natural sweetness for the waffle. The ambience is super cute and great for IG pictures. I've tried quite a few of their matcha lattes and the best one is the rose matcha latte which has just the right amount of sweetness and rose flavor. The sakura matcha latte was too sweet and peachy for me. The jasmine matcha latte is nice too. The grilled cheese and tomato soup is okay and I think the toast is better. I've been to the San Carlos location before and the Burlingame location is equally as amazing! There's a decent amount of seating inside the restaurant and additional seating outside to enjoy a nice day. When you arrive you line up to order at the counter and they give you a number for your order. I got the MH chopped salad which is probably one of my favorite salads ever. The ingredients are mixed greens, baby arugula, avocado, tomato, strawberry, orange, carrot, cucumber, red onion, hummus, toasted walnut, balsamic vinaigrette, and a side of bread. The hummus gives an additional flavor that really complements the salad. The bowl doesn't seem too big but it actually fills you up so I end up eating only half the bowl and taking the rest home as leftovers. It's a really good salad if you want something healthy and refreshing. I also highly recommend their sampler plates to try multiple items and all of the toasts are delicious. 11/10 recommend!! read more

The banana and cream waffle I tried too! The waffle base tasted a lot like the churro one, but it is definitely a better choice if you're looking for a more simpler dish. There's also a self service water station. Since we had a larger party of 7, one of the employees helped me pull a table over so we could sit together. The samplers are really meant for one person, but they can add up as each one is an added cost to the original starting price. Their platters look amazing as well. We ordered Classic Afternoon Tea tower for two which comes with our choice of 4 slices of savory toast/ waffle samplers, 2 scones with jam and crème, and 2 pairs of three petite desserts. The pricing was decent for the high tea experience but I wished the set came with tea for the price. The toasts were a decent portion and were tasty. The desserts were your usual afternoon tea desserts. Overall, a cute experience and I like that you don't have to call ahead of time to arrange for the afternoon tea tower, at least for the Burlingame location! I will say I probably wouldn't come here for coffee alone, but I like to try new drinks out when I come for food! The employees are always very kind and tentative.
