Items are packaged nicely with rice, entree, and soup. General Tsao chicken, Sole in Black Bean Sauce, and String Bean Chicken have all been good. Never eaten here but there are plenty of seats/tables. The decor is a bit dated, like a chinese restaurant from 20 years ago that never changed out its style, but I sorta like that it's like a walk back in time. The food is dirt cheap and you get what you paid for. My work often organizes takeout order every Thursday as it's our tradition to do Chinese Thursday. I'd recommend their lunch combos as it comes with generous amount of food and side soup with egg roll. They're also quick with phone ordering so the service front is worthy of 5 ! Was in the area and needed a quick lunch. Saw they offered lunch specials on weekdays until 3pm, everything was pretty much under $14, so said why not. For their lunch special, the portions are pretty nice. The lunch special menu has over 25+ options, from classics like broccoli beef, Mongolian beer, salt & pepper pork chops, etc. I went with the beer and scrambled eggs bc I have had it at another spot, and honestly while it wasn't bad, the eggs were too overcooked. I've had this dish at other spots, and it's been saucy/yolky (not sure how to best explain it), this one was more of an omelette. Had to add some spice and soy sauce to get any type of flavor. I definitely think this was the case of ordering the wrong thing. This was absolutely horrible. All of the food was bland. When I was ordering, I asked if items had pork in it and she said no. I told her and insisted I cannot have pork. I ordered the chicken wonton soup and when I got home, I bit into the wontons and it didn't taste right. I called the restaurant immediately and asked if there were pork in their chicken wonton soup and she said yes. When I asked for a refund, she refused and hung up on me. This is absolutely one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. Do not go here. Additionally, she kept my receipt that I was supposed to sign. I had to call back and demand my refund and she yelled at me and said she's not gonna refund the whole order and I need to come down with the soup . The Cantonese dinner for $16.95 per person was a great deal. Won Ton Soup - The wontons were great, but the soup flavor and veggies were pretty lacking. (The veggies consisted of a few pieces of cabbage and some green onions.) Egg Roll + Cheese Puff - This came out hot out of the fryer! No complaints here. Sweet and Sour Pork - Probably the best dish. The pork was tender and not dried out. Beef with Vegetables - Beef was nice very tender, but a bit on the salty side due to the oyster sauce. I liked the addition of baby bok choy. BBQ Pork Fried Rice - This was a great accompaniment to the meal. I took the leftovers home and got two more meals out of it. Service was attentive and quick. I have been going past this place for long time, next to the pizza place and several Japanese joints all serving sushi? Anyway I had to pick up my son at therapy, so I was a quick 25 yards away. I have been looking over the menu for quite a time, they have a solid base not overly fancy but lots of choices. Came in and the place had some other person picking up an order, my order was quickly taken , before someone else made another take out order, pretty popular place for a Monday evening. As I waited for my food I noticed the the staff on the back looked really efficient and were cranking out food orders really fast. I went to pick up my son because I was cutting it close, but when I got him and walked back my order was waiting for me. It was delicious smelling all the way home. The food tasted fantastic, no complaining here, the beef chow fun was surprisingly light and delicious. We also had the salt and pepper pork chops. Makes my mouth water just thinking about how crispy and savory tasting these are. Got a good value for your money. I'm coming back and trying more on the menu. The location is easy to find with plenty of parking nearby. The prices are about average for the amount of food served. There is inside seating with large tables for families. The food is not only plated nice but the flavor is what won me over. Fresh vegetables and cooked to perfection. Friendly staff and the food was served hot off the stove with little wait time. I was hangry, and Chinese food delivery was the way to go via UberEats. I mean, 4 stars on Yelp, this was a no-brainer. The menu looked solid, so I ordered a smattering of items fit for a king, unfortunately, that's far from what I received: 1. Garlic Eggplant Appetizer [$7.75, 1.5 stars] -- never have I been so disappointed. It was ONE 8" eggplant, split into 4 pieces lengthwise. Not cooked all the way, and overall, a very very small portion. #LOSER 2. Steamed Pork Dumplings [$9.15, 3.0 stars] -- Trader Joe's? No, but they were from frozen. Fine, but average at best. 3. Been to this place several times and it's probably because of the consistency of the food. Taste is ok and about what you come to expect from an average Chinese food restaurant. Prices are ok as well. Customer service is good and the place is clean. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but if you need a quick Chinese food fix and your local, i would definitely recommend. Ordered their salt and pepper fish fillet on a Friday during lent when I didn't have time to make lunch. Placed order through yelp before leaving work. Went and got gas and then to the restaurant to pick up the food. They have a small parking lot next to the buildings and one across the street otherwise it's street parking which is still a bit tough to find parking. I thought about double parking to pick up since I had already paid for the food through the app, but there were already 2 other cars double parked for the same reason. luckily someone was leaving so I was able to grab that spot. Got into the restaurant and food was ready to go. Order came with hot and sour soup and the salt and pepper fish fillet over rice. The fish fillets were so good but I would have to say the fish to rice ratio was off. Too much rice and not enough fish. I believe I got about 4-5 pieces of fillets and a ton of rice. Let's just say I ended up tossing whatever rice I didn't finish which was about 1/3 of what I got. Soup was the basic hot and sour. I would go here again. I believe it cost me about $12 with tip. It was always happening to my drink and rice those were always missing all the time. when I called the lady that answered the phone was hard to understand her. Ordered over the phone for pick-up, Seafood Chow Mein Hong Kong Style ($6.95) & Chicken Corn Soup ($5.95) it was ready within 15 minutes. Service was very friendly, though the place was completely empty. The portions are very large! Had lots of seafood in my order, but the HK Style Chow Mein noodles were just decent. The Chicken Corn Soup was good, but very orangish probably from the yolk. I usually order this style of soup from China Bistro in Millbrae & have never seen it this way, but overall it was ok. The fortune cookies disappointed me a bit because I looove them! I really hate to complain but I just had one of the worst experiences with food delivery person today. I ordered from Ocean Palace through Eat24.com from work. It popped up on the search list. How am I supposed to know that they hate delivering "so far away"?? Maybe they should contact Eat24 and tell them not to include them in a particular mile radius search or put some kind of note on their business page. So My experience from here: 1) my order took 80 minutes (eta was 30-50 minutes). No apology from the delivery guy. 2) The delivery guy was a bit rude and unfriendly from the very beginning and 3) He actually complained about the amount of tip I put down. I mean really? You're over 30 minutes late and you expected more tip?? Food was pretty cold and not all that good. Never going to order from them again. :( read more
