Was in the area and needed a quick lunch. Saw they offered lunch specials on weekdays until 3pm, everything was pretty much under $14, so said why not. For their lunch special, the portions are pretty nice. The lunch special menu has over 25+ options, from classics like broccoli beef, Mongolian beer, salt & pepper pork chops, etc. I went with the beer and scrambled eggs bc I have had it at another spot, and honestly while it wasn't bad, the eggs were too overcooked. I've had this dish at other spots, and it's been saucy/yolky (not sure how to best explain it), this one was more of an omelette. Had to add some spice and soy sauce to get any type of flavor. I definitely think this was the case of ordering the wrong thing. I saw other dishes that looked really good, so while I wasn't a fan of what I got, I do think the price point makes this an affordable option for a quick Chinese food meal.

Good soup and service . Small yet nice parking can be so so but overall good for the money you're paying

The Cantonese dinner for $16.95 per person was a great deal. Won Ton Soup - The wontons were great, but the soup flavor and veggies were pretty lacking. (The veggies consisted of a few pieces of cabbage and some green onions.) Egg Roll + Cheese Puff - This came out hot out of the fryer! No complaints here. Sweet and Sour Pork - Probably the best dish. The pork was tender and not dried out. Beef with Vegetables - Beef was nice very tender, but a bit on the salty side due to the oyster sauce. I liked the addition of baby bok choy. BBQ Pork Fried Rice - This was a great accompaniment to the meal. I took the leftovers home and got two more meals out of it. Service was attentive and quick. Will be back and would love to try out their reasonably priced lunch specials.

Good home cooking food, thought my late Mom was cooking back there in the kitchen. Very nice service, prompt & courteous.

I've been trying to find some really good Chinese food and my search is over. There are many in the area to try but this one is at the top of my list. The location is easy to find with plenty of parking nearby. The prices are about average for the amount of food served. There is inside seating with large tables for families. The food is not only plated nice but the flavor is what won me over. Fresh vegetables and cooked to perfection. Friendly staff and the food was served hot off the stove with little wait time. They have a good amount of to-go orders but that didn't seem to slow them down. Give them a try for authentic Chinese food.

Woot! One undercooked eggplant [$7.75, 1.5 stars]

I was hangry, and Chinese food delivery was the way to go via UberEats. I mean, 4 stars on Yelp, this was a no-brainer. The menu looked solid, so I ordered a smattering of items fit for a king, unfortunately, that's far from what I received: 1. Garlic Eggplant Appetizer [$7.75, 1.5 stars] -- never have I been so disappointed. It was ONE 8" eggplant, split into 4 pieces lengthwise. Not cooked all the way, and overall, a very very small portion. #LOSER 2. Steamed Pork Dumplings [$9.15, 3.0 stars] -- Trader Joe's? No, but they were from frozen. Fine, but average at best. 3. Broccoli Chicken [$15.95, 3.5 stars] -- this was good, but very small portion and at that price, very underwhelming. A below average experience. Overall, a big NO for me.

I personally don't like or enjoy Chinese food, so this is my boyfriends opinion... I had the Pork Won Ton soup as a meal. My boyfriend had egg rolls, deep fried beef in garlic sauce, & cashews chicken. Won Ton soup was very bland, so I doctored it up with soy sauce and spicy Chinese oil... My boyfriend completely finished the other 3 dishes. He was constantly making those Mmmm sound, enjoying every bite.

Been to this place several times and it's probably because of the consistency of the food. Taste is ok and about what you come to expect from an average Chinese food restaurant. Prices are ok as well. Customer service is good and the place is clean. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but if you need a quick Chinese food fix and your local, i would definitely recommend. Not to many people dining in these days but I do see many people picking up food for delivery.

easily the best and most wallet-friendly for lunch! it's usually quiet and the service is always good. the only difference between ordering to-go and eating there is a bowl of sweet and sour soup. these two photos are two different occasions. 5/5 i go at least once a month.

This was supposed to be chicken chow mein. It turned out to be mostly chicken chow mein with a piece of shrimp!
    Janine F.

DO NOT GO HERE. I ordered chicken chow mein to go. I noticed there was a piece of shrimp in it! My boyfriend is allergic to shrimp. Something bad could've happened to him and Ocean Palace would've been the one to blame. I don't recommend ordering to go from Ocean Palace as the man who delivered it to my house demanded a tip even when Ocean Palace advertises 'free delivery'. It was rude of him to ask for a tip.

We misunderstood what the server was asking and ordered them fried with hot chillies...it was tasty and crispy but next time we would try as a soup. Restaurant was crowded so glad we made a reservation so seated right away. Tried some other tasty dishes, too. The cumin lamb was very good, and the pepper beef and salt pepper fried chicken wings were pretty good, too. A little pricey ($60/person without drinks) but some unique northern Chinese dishes. Would likely come back again for the Peking Duck but might try to compare to a few other places known for theirs, too. Also, was curious about a hanging pancake dish that several other tables ordered!!

I don't eat porridge often, usually when really under the weather so I'm fortunate to not gone to get some in a while. I called my pickup order since I didn't see an online option. The store front is Ichi Ramen so it's confusing in case you get lost in the busy plaza. I ordered shrimp, fish and plain porridge (congee) along with beef chow fun. 4 dishes total. Total came out to under $60 and it was a heavy bag! The porridge has a nice thick consistency without being runny. It had flavor to not need seasoning and surprisingly large portions of seafood. The chow fun was decent but I've definitely tasted better. Kinda pricy at $18 though the beef slices were big. I appreciated it wasn't as oily as other chow fun I've had so easy to eat without feeling kinda gross after. Solid value, good food, and worth a rec for porridge. All in all, I'd definitely return. 4.5 stars.

5 stars - Genuine Northern Chinese Gem in Milbrae…read more I've been searching for years for a spot that does real Northern Chinese food without watering it down for the American palate, and New China absolutely delivers. The owners clearly know their stuff--Shandong style cooking shines through. We started with the pan-fried pork & chive dumplings (煎饺) -- thick, chewy wrappers with perfectly seasoned filling and that ideal crispy bottom. Not the thin-skinned Cantonese style; these are hearty and satisfying, just like what you'd get in the north. Their zha jiang mian (炸酱面) is outstanding--the fermented soybean sauce is rich and deeply flavored, loaded with ground pork, cucumber matchsticks, and bean sprouts. The noodles have that perfect al dente bite. It's the real deal, not the sweet Americanized version. We also got the cumin lamb skewers (孜然羊肉串) -- tender, intensely spiced with cumin, chili flakes, and sesame, grilled over real flame so they have that smoky char. And the sour cabbage stir-fried with glass noodles (酸菜粉丝) was spot-on: tangy, comforting, and full of that signature Northern balance of sour and savory. Excellent appetizers Portions are generous, prices are very reasonable for the quality, and the place has that no-frills, family-run feel that makes you feel like you're eating at someone's home kitchen. Service was friendly and quick, even when busy. If you're tired of the same old General Tso's and orange chicken everywhere, do yourself a favor and come here for authentic Northern Chinese flavors. This is now our go-to spot in Milbrae Highly recommend--will be back often!

The English description are a bit off and they have a variety of frozen buns and other food you can buy to-go (they don't serve the buns at the restaurant). For the less adventurous, their spicy tofu, Crispy Sweet and Sour Chicken (breaded and fried crispy) and a dry noodle are good starting point, and for vegetables, their stir fry green beans is good (but best served with some rice). Overall, this place is not bad, but wish their menu was more accurate in the description/content to meet customer's expectations.

This place is kind of a hole in the wall with its self proclaimed "Texas BBQ" and location. Parking can be tough if the parking lot is full, and I wish they picked a better spot to open this shop. It's off the beaten path for most Chinese restaurants in the area. The prices for BBQ aren't exactly cheap, however that can all be mitigated since they offer AYCE at a price starting at $35 a person with drinks. I love their lamb skewers and chinese hamburger. Lamb skewers were seasoned to how I expected them - with a spice mix mainly consisting of cumin. I also like how they include a fatty piece just before the last piece, which is They also offer spicy powder on the side that you can shake on your order to make it more spicy. The Chinese hamburger was very flavorful and authentic and very cheap for the price - much more value than ANY fast food restaurant and a lot healthier! We also ordered a liangpi and cumin chicken, both which were decent. This place offers very fair prices for chinese BBQ if you consider AYCE, since I have yet been to a chinese BBQ place that offers AYCE. Food comes out pretty quickly, and service is welcoming, especially if you're familiar with northern chinese hospitality. If you can look past the fading decor, colored utensils, and overall hole in the wall vibe, this place is actually pretty good if you're from northern china and looking for a homely vibe! Just don't expect Texas BBQ even if its in the name.
