"Make Great Food. Be Nice" Jack's Restaurant& Bar is a Bay Area institution. They have 4 locations throughout the Bay Area. We popped into the San Bruno location and enjoyed good food, fast, friendly service and great drinks. I went with the California Burger, that comes with sauteed mushrooms, avocado, jack cheese. I would definitely be back to try more of their menu.
Jack's is our go-to for a reason -- it's always solid, the prices are fair, and the service is consistently great. It's a big restaurant, so they can easily seat a large party, which makes it perfect for celebrations. We've done family gatherings here and it's never a hassle. My favorite is the salmon risotto -- creamy, with a hint of lemon and bits of wilted spinach mixed in. It hits every time. My family has tried a bunch of other dishes too: the cod with capers, sirloin steak, mac and cheese, and burgers, and everything has been delicious. The menu has something for everyone, which is part of why we keep coming back. Parking is usually not an issue either, which is a nice bonus. Reliable food, friendly service, and room for the whole crew -- Jack's checks all the boxes.
We came here for breakfast and had a really good meal overall. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and my husband had the Fish Po' Boy. The Fish Po' Boy was absolutely amazing. We would definitely order it again! I liked Eggs Benedict as well. The only downside for us was the atmosphere. We really enjoy places with lots of natural light, especially in the morning, so we didn't understand why all the lights were turned on when there was already plenty of daylight. It made the space feel less cozy than we expected. I think, we would consider ordering delivery in the future. There are still several dishes on the menu that I'd love to try.

Jack's Restaurant is the BEST place to go to in San Bruno! They have great food..wonderful awesome workers..hard working staff including the cooks! My hubby & I ALWAYS look forward to coming there! The portion size was perfect: filling without being too heavy. Everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and most importantly, served piping hot. ALCOHOLIC BEVS: 9/10 They had a solid selection of drinks, whether you're into beer, cocktails, or hard liquor. I also thought their seasonal Christmas drinks were a fun and cute touch. We originally had reservations at another restaurant in the city, but they were canceled due to a power outage in the area. We quickly had to find an alternative and decided on Jack's. Despite the restaurant being pretty packed when we arrived, we were seated right away. Our food came out in a timely manner, and everything we ordered was delicious -- the shrimp scampi pasta, truffle fries, and rigatoni were all great. Our server was very friendly, and we were in and out within 30-45 minutes. We would definitely come back to try other menu items or even visit another location. We have been customers of Jack's Restaurant & Bar in San Bruno for many years. In all honesty, at one of our first visits, I found the breakfast to be unexciting and dinner to be mediocre. So, we took a hiatus of a few years. Fast forward to post-Covid times when we rediscovered the restaurant just down the street from our house. From then to present day, Jack's has been one of our regular eateries from where we order take-out. Nothing wrong with dining in-house here, but since the pandemic, we have just gotten very comfortable with bringing food to eat at our own home. The venue always appears clean and tidy with a family friendly environment. My only complaint about their place is that the private parking lot is a bit tight, so parking large SUVs or bigger can be challenging. Good food at really great prices is what reels is in again and again. My #1 go-to is the GRILLED SALMON. At $25.95, it's a fabulous choice for a perfectly cooked fish with a side of broccoli and rice pilaf. I also love their CHOPPED CHICKEN SALAD ($21.95), but with crispy chicken instead of grilled. DJ is loyal to the BLACK SHEEP BURGER (VEGETARIAN) for $18.95 and the boys like their REUBEN ($19.95), RIGATONI DI POLLO ($21.95), CAESAR SALAD ($13.95) + Chicken ($5.95), and more. What is really worth mentioning is their awesome service, even when calling to place take-out orders. No mistakes EVER, something you can't say about many other places. In short, Jack's in San Bruno is a solid destination for yummy eats and perfect service. I can't comment on their other locations, but this locale gives a magnificent first impression of their chain.

Jack's Restaurant is the BEST place to go to in San Bruno! They have great food..wonderful awesome workers..hard working staff including the cooks! My hubby & I ALWAYS look forward to coming there! Wonderful happy hour menu! Great portions as well. Ambiance was great! Restaurant is very clean and neat. Our server, Jason, was very attentive and kind. He was great! He was very quick. Would definitely recommend coming here if you want a small bite for happy hour, or to eat a full meal! Staff overall are very hard working and kind. Solid food - a must for me when I'm trying to catch the game with friends and family. A crowd favorite. This location is great for before I fly out or when I'm landing hungry. I love breakfast here but brunch/ lunch / dinner are good too. Their fish plates, burger and meatloaf is bomb. I don't ever order meatloaf out but it's one of my college buddy's favorite's so I've enjoyed. The salmon is a solid choice along with the Reuben and wraps. This is my 2nd time to this Jack's location as the closer one to me is the one in San Mateo. I actually like this one a bit better for the seating arrangement in the side room as well as it seems a little more cozy. I did not know this but they have a Happy hour special from 4-6 where in addition to your entree you get soup or salad and a drink. We happened to go at 5:45 because we wanted to beat the dinner rush. I didn't know we would run into the happy hour rush, almost all of the tables were full there on a Saturday early evening at that time. Luckily there was a few open table so were seated immediately but the place was pretty packed. I got the Half fried chicken which was fried well and had good seasoning. Also was able to get an Arnold palmer for my drink. Half Lemonade, half Ice tea. Service was very good, drinks came out fast and the server and the manger stopped by a couple of times while dining to check to make sure everything was good. Overall it was a nice meal out with the family and would come back again. read more
Jack never disappoints me. I came at 5 p.m. on a Friday night and was lucky that there was a table available at the bar. We started with a lemon drop and a margarita. For appetizers, we ordered the Asian wings, calamari, and chili nachos. We also ordered a New York steak meal, which comes with soup. The service was quick, as always. The place was about 80% full when I arrived. Parking can be difficult if the lots are full, but if you come after 5 or 6 p.m., you can park in the neighboring lot next door--just be sure to check the posted times. read more

Great service, meh food. Food came out super quick though! Clam chowder: This was unlike any clam chowder we had before and we did not like it. It tasted like chunky potato soup and was gritty. Spaghetti Carbonara: This was ok! Needed more flavor and the chicken was rubbery. California Mac: Also very bland, we've had this at the San Mateo location and this tasted way different. To be honest, the San Mateo location was good, this location was not. The food was bland, and the ambiance wasn't great. It was so loud, it felt like you could hear everyone's conversations! Came here on a Friday night, it was busy and poppin ' ! The hostess sat us right away and the waiters were attentive and fast. Our drinks and appetizers came out so fast. I had a frozen mojito mango flavored. My husband had a jacks sweet tea. We ordered the zucchini cakes and coconut shrimp. Loved both of it. I thought the shrimp needed a different sauce to dip in. I ordered a cup of the AVGOLEMONO soup. Still can't pronounce it but this soup is delicious and creamy. The chicken Marsala had a great amount of polenta. My husband couldn't finish the whole entree! My Asian chicken salad was good but needed more dressing. For dessert we ordered the caramelized banana split. The banana gave the crispy sweetness and great portion of ice cream ( vanilla, chocolate and strawberry) so good! Shout out to our server Cesar! He was above and beyond with waiter standards. I thought he was friendly and kept us hydrated and taken care of. I felt ease with this staff and restaurant! They all work fast and sufficient as a whole team. Jacks in San Bruno was jam-packed, which told me right away this is clearly a local favorite. The perfect place for a night with family, friends or love. The hospitality was on point from start to finish, even with how busy it was. I ordered my current go-to drink, a Jameson and lemonade, and then dove into the blackened catfish with veggies and mashed potatoes. I'm really glad I asked for lemon butter and melted butter on the side because the fish was a little on the drier side, but still very flavorful. Great service but the food we ordered was not so great. Bananas foster French toast $15 3.5/10: bf said "I feel like I just got diabetes from eating that." Their French toast and bananas is soggy and SWIMMING in syrup. The excessive amount of syrup makes this dish sickeningly sweet. I was forcing myself to eat more of it just because we paid for it and I was starving. We were unable to finish it and it wasn't because we were full. Homemade French toast is better than this, unfortunately. Classic breakfast burrito w pork sausage $16 4.5/10. Below average. I liked the crispy bits but overall, it was not worth the price. Not enough cheese or flavor in general. I was excited to try this place but I'm really disappointed with the quality of the food. read more
The classic burger with Swiss cheese & garlic fries $19.75 wasn't as good as last time. It was dry. They do give you a side of white truffle aioli sauce. It didn't help. Chef(s) were derelict tonight. When the burger first arrived, it didn't have garlic fries. I had to send it back. They fixed it within minutes. I didn't say anything but this burger usually comes with a slice of pickle. On the beer taps were Coors Light, Stella and Modelo. I picked Modelo $8. It came with a wedge of lime. It was my believe that lime wedges were only included with Corona, Dos XX, Pacifico or Tecate. This was refreshing as the tangy lime made it less sweet. The restaurant was full at 7pm and luckily I was able to get a seat at the bar. It died down a lot by the time I left. Good job bartender and wait staff at Jack's. read more

After being under the weather for a bit and juggling family care, I felt I definitely deserved a tasty and comforting breakfast. So, my husband and I decided it was time for another delightful visit to Jack's restaurant in San Bruno. When we arrived, the place was buzzing but not too crowded. The host warmly welcomed us and gave us the option to pick our favorite booth. Our server, who also happens to be the bartender, came over quickly to take our drink orders. He's been there for a while and always brings such a friendly, professional vibe, patiently catering to our every need. He kept checking in to make sure our water glasses were full and that we didn't need anything else. We ordered two glasses of water, a coffee, and a mimosa. The mimosa was fresh but had a bit of a bitter note--possibly the orange juice or maybe too much sparkling wine--but honestly, I enjoyed every sip! My husband chose the Santa Fe Omelet with hash browns and whole wheat toast, while I went for the Monterey Omelette, swapping out the hash browns for a lovely cup of fresh fruit. We both agreed that our omelettes tasted incredibly fresh and delicious. I could really savor every ingredient! And if you go, you absolutely have to try their salsa verde on the side. It's not spicy, but it's bursting with flavor and takes each dish to the next level. To top it all off, we indulged in the Texas-style French toast, which was simply heavenly. It had that perfect combination of a crispy exterior and a soft, buttery interior that just melted in our mouths. We can't wait to come back! read more
Came here for dinner with a couple friends and ended up having a great time! We got waited on by the lovely Kimberly, who checked on us frequently and also brought our food out in a timely manner. I wasn't too hungry so just got some tzatziki and warm pita bread as my main meal. My friends both got larger entrees but ended up taking the leftovers home. Everything was just delightful. I've been to various places that make different types of tzatziki and Jack's really knows how to make one on the yummier side. It was creamy, flavorful, and filling. Inside, the ambiance was pretty busy but everyone looked content with the overall service and wait time. 1st time visit- service was amazing! Thank you Kimberly for great service. We ordered NY steak, which was flavorful and cooked to perfection. Starters included mixed green salad with herb vinaigrette which was light and delicious. My bf had the house Greek lemon soup which was delicious. It's a restaurant for family and friends with a casual feel. There is table and booth seating. We had a good experience on a weekday night as there was no wait despite a fair amount of patrons inside. Service was quick. We started with fried calamari and they were large pieces. There weren't many pieces with the tentacles. It was good with the aioli and cocktail sauce but was on the lukewarm side like it had been sitting out for a while. For the mains we had the spaghetti with clams (white or red sauce is offered). I chose the traditional white. This dish was good with a decent amount of chopped and fresh clams in there. We also had the Yankee pot roast. This was tasty as well. The beef was quite tender and on a bed of mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. I loved the generous portion of vegetables. All in all, a good meal. They look to have a section that can be partitioned off for private parties. Parking is out front in their lot with overflow parking next door. read more

This was my first time having dinner here, and it was a great experience. The ambiance is elevated casual--comfortable but still stylish. The food was really good. The bread was nicely toasted but still soft inside. The mac and cheese was full of flavor and very filling. I also had the Tutto Mare, which was delicious. Portion sizes were just right. They certainly have options but if you're a strict observer - like all restaurants - they do not separate foods or cook on separate grills and fryers etc.
