We've been coming here since they opened, literally. We braved the rain storm to come by on Opening Day, since we had been looking forward to it coming when it was first announced. We were previously fans of Local Kitchens (LK) from trying other locations in the past. Over the years since they opened, the menu has changed a bit. There are still some of the original partners, but there has also been some turnover. Square Pie Guys and Boba Guys are two staples that are still available. This has become one of our favorite spots to get pizza in the area. The thick crispy crust is some of the best, and we like the wings too! Other newer options include a Sonoran-inspired menu from Chef Rick Martinez with dishes such as: Chips & Frijoles, a Jalapeño Ranch Wedge Salad, Carne Asada Taco, Chicken and Vegetable Adobada Tacos and Burritos, Rice Plates and Berry Dessert Nachos. The tacos are pretty tasty, and we recently tried the salad -- I have to say it was surprisingly spicy. This from people who order everything spicy, both the wifey and I made comments about the mouth tingles it gave us. The order comes with two pieces; make sure to eat them as soon as possible, as they will get wilted from all the dressing and sauces. There's a middle-eastern style menu from Israeli Chef Einat Admony with dishes like: Black Garlic Cauliflower, Homemade Hummus and falafel, and pita bread. They have a very tasty Amba Chicken that you can get in a Pita wrap, Rice Plate, or Hummus Plate. You can also get the aforementioned options with their Housemade Green Falafel. My wife is a huge fan of the yellow Amba Aioli, and we love to get the cauliflower dish with the black garlic sauce, even if we don't get anything else from that menu. If you're looking for a burger, look no further than their collab with Chef Alvin Cailan. On this menu, you can get the signature SOB Burger (regular, hot, or with bacon), a double ("The Overachieving SOB Burger"), fries, a Molasses Chocolate Chunk Cookie. We really like their burgers, and were even invited to the launch of this menu, where we got to meet Chef Alvin and watch a live demonstration of him making his famous SOB burger! While they no longer have Proposition Chicken by name, they do have a rebranded version featuring Chef Ari Feingold, who is the Executive Chef and Owner of Prop Chicken. The menu is a little different, featuring options like: Fried Chicken Tenders, The Fried (and spicy) Chicken Sandwich, Fried Chicken Salads, and "Prop Spiced Fries". We are big fans of the Prop seasoning. It's really good on the fries, and I love ordering the chicken tenders since they use it on them, and the breading reminds me more of a fish & chip taste, which I love! Each of the places has their own selection of sauces that you can add to the dish, or order extras of on the side. Most of them are $1/each, aside from the Mike's Hot Honey ($1.50) and the Pecan Salsa Macha Norteña ($2). A moment of silence for some of the Opening Day options that are no longer available at the San Bruno location: The Melt, Sushirrito, Nopalito Taqueria, Humphry Slocombe, Milk Bar. The staff has always been very friendly when coming in, greeting us with a smile. The food tends to be ready on the early side of the estimate when placing orders on the LK app. There have been times (including our recent Super Bowl order) where items (mostly sauces) have been missing. We always make sure to do a quick check inside the dining room or in the car before taking off. This most recent time we were missing several sauces, but the guy at the counter was super accommodating and eventually got us everything we paid for. Excellent, quick service and friendly staff! Parking is abundant, this restaurant is at a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. Staff is friendly! I could tell the manager really cares about your experience! I bought a bunch of food and I can tell he was grateful just for that. The rest of the staff was just as nice. I got strawberry matcha milk tea, the carne asada bowl, and the spicy chicken strips. Everything was excellent, they have a huge selection of food and have taken partnerships with surround restaurants to create a phenomenal menu of options from many different cuisines. The restaurant is clean and cozy! They have sofa you can sit and eat/wait at, they tables that are both high and low tables taking everyone's experience in consideration. They also have an outdoor patio that's beautiful, great when the weather warm. All in all I will be returning, you can't go wrong at this place and if you do, they will make it right read more

My friend was visiting from Texas and I tried to find a good place near San Francisco International Airport. I remembered their is a Local Kitchens not too far so I took him there. We ordered the com tam / broken rice plate with pork belly and also strawberry tea fresca from Boba Guys. I am a huge fan of Local Kitchens and love checking out the other locations whenever I am in the area. I love how I can always get gourmet, freshly cooked/prepared meals and drinks pretty much all day until 12am! My friend and I loved our lunch! The pork belly was cooked to perfection and all the sides were absolutely delicious! This is my favorite dish at all of the Local Kitchens. It is bright, colorful, flavorful, perfect portion and just hits the spot. And to wash it down, the refreshing strawberry tea fresca with soft chewy tapioca boba. If you are near the airport or just in the San Bruno area and don't want to wait in a long line at In n Out burger, I highly recommend Local Kitchens San Bruno. Looking at Local Kitchens for a nice bite, I was intrigued by Chef Tue Nguyen's menu with the broken rice. The ordering process on the website was very easy (although the doordash page increases the price of each entree by $2-$3 per, so buyer beware). Easy pick-up, although it took some time before a staffer knew I was at the waiting window. Empty place on a Thursday evening, so a great place for anyone wanting to socialize and where the group has different tastes. The Broke Chick Tam was fantastic and is one of the best things to come out of Local Kitchen besides the Square Guys. Great flavor, and I loved the variety of pickled vegetable offerings. This is a unique spot for "ghost kitchen". The dining area is clean and well designed. I like the idea of just ordering from various food choices. This restaurant is across the street from YouTube HQ and a couple of corporate companies. So I see some customers with their employee badge. The service was great, even though there is no human cashier, you basically order on a kiosk. HUGE SHOUT OUT TO KELLIE, customer service representative who went above and beyond. So often I write about horrible customer service and food where I and my friend sand coworkers never return because restaurants simply don't care. Kellie reached out to me about my SOB truffle burger. At $15 with no fries and drink it's expensive in these times. The burger tasted like it had been sitting for an hour on a tray. Cold inside, barely warm outside and no truffle flavor. You know how much I enjoy Boba Guys matcha lattes, but with all that ice for $14 for 2 drinks, like what?!? The Vietnamese coffee was quite good and great addition to their menu. Also too much ice, but very tasty not too sweet or bitter. So at like 11am there was no water in their pitcher and the woman behind the counter who I told about the water refilled it but she was very dismissive and at first she didn't understand me so I had to say "agua" with what little Spanish I knew. Also, when I picked up my food she took back my burger and I had to ask for it back LOL. There were only like 4 other orders, so it wasn't busy. Very strange. I had a "sushirrito". I always thought they were weird. As it turns out, it's just a thick sushi roll with some burrito-like ingredients. Local Kitchens is a local bay area ghost kitchen chain! The concept has been novel since the pandemic, and while I like the idea, it's rough when you know the food tastes better from the original source. Also, I think the concept of ghost kitchens should in theory mean better pricing, but it's kind of expensive. Boba Guys serves a basic menu of their popular drinks. Since they're not a boba shop, the boba isn't freshly cycled, so I don't like adding toppings from here. The Thai tea is probably the best to get as it's the strongest flavored, but I'd generally prefer getting drinks elsewhere. At Proposition Chicken, the spicy sandwich was enjoyable and tasted like Popeyes with a good bun, prominent pickles, and tongue spice. The chicken patty was ok - it was meaty, oddly-shaped, and can stand to have more crunch. The fried chicken tenders are ok - they are composed of large pieces of breast meat, and I found the coating to be odd, like fish and chips coating. The prop spiced fries are solid and subtle, and the green goddess dressing is good and herby. From Nopalito Taqueria, the quesabirria dipping tacos were quite cheesy and crisp, almost as if the shell was pure cheese. They came with a lot of raw onions, and were packed with braised birria beef. The consomme and salsa were strong and tasty! Square Pie Guys is included in all of our orders from Local Kitchens. Their pizza is good but expensive. It's worth it to grab Square Pie Guys during the big box deal on Mondays (buy one, get a second for $12.05). The 6x8 is our favorite, as it's a thick cornmeal like crust covered with stretchy cheese and tons of delicious pepperoni (pepperoni in every bite!). The Big Von disappointed me because they could have been more generous with the toppings, the white sauce wasn't too flavorful, and the Mike's hot honey made it too sweet. The cookies from Milk Bar are too sweet and very soft. They're so soft, that it almost tastes like it disintegrates into sugar granules when you eat them. I haven't tried all of their offerings yet, and some cycle out once in a while. Most brands can be seen around the bay, and if not, it's usually interesting offerings from a celebrity chef or something, which brings me to my next point... I received an invite to attend the launch party of Tam Tam Rice from chef Tue Nguyen (@TwayDaBae) at this location and had a fun time meeting Tue and tasting her food! I even won Tue's cookbook and got her autograph. She definitely made me want to head down to her restaurant, Di Di, in West Hollywood. If Local Kitchens made this location a hub for more events like this, I think that'd be really fun and would draw in more customers. While I now live closer to a different location, I've enjoyed this location for their spacious and brighter seating area, ample parking, kind staff, and the delicious self-serve water! read more

I've come here twice so far, spaced about half year apart, and the staff has been super friendly both times. The first time, I wanted Detroit-style pepperoni pizza, boy, did they deliver (not literally because I picked up at the counter). It was SO good. Finally had an opportunity to try this place! Ordered a pizza from Square Pie Guys as I have been on the hunt for Detroit style pizza. The pizza was light and the edges crispy! Love the hot sweet honey in the pizza to give it an extra layer of flavor. Everyone working there was super nice and it is a chill place to hang out and get work done or grab a bite. Looks like most of the food was pick up prolly to feed the tech people in the area. Personally, the price point was a little high to me for the size of the pizza but I can imagine if you're working close by or your company is footing the bill then why not? Love this joint! As a foodie I love variety and Local Kitchens has just that. From Boba Guys, Nopalito, Sushirrito, Proposition Kitchen... Lots of variety! Been here countless numbers of times, and I'll say that this place is good for groups with varying tastes. Of the good items I've had here, I like the quesabirria tacos (Nopalito), the herby goddess chicken salad (Proposition Chicken) - which were tasty and just like at the restaurants in SF. Pricing is similarly priced to the restaurant establishments in SF - so overall, reasonable in this regard. Local Kitchens is convenient - with plenty of parking at the Bayhill Shopping Center. Ordering is also convenient - you can either order at the kiosks in store or online (via their website or their app). Food comes out quickly too. Lastly I want to say that the staff here are super nice, which makes eating here (or take out) enjoyable! The broken rice plate with chicken was so delicious. I definitely recommend. I went back to try the broken rice plate with pork and it was good, but the chicken was definitely better. What looks like a super convenient and chill spot to grab a quick bite, you quickly notice the menu is nothing short of disappointing. Everything is very "same-y" with not much variation. I was in the area and decided to try it out. I had high expectations for this place because the concept is great; get a choice of great food under one roof. Unfortunately, I can get a lunch-sized pizza at SPG, but the only option available at LK was a full pie. So I tried a fried chicken sandwich with herby coleslaw and an agua fresca from Boba Guys. My husband tried a falafel sandwich, a side of coleslaw, and a molasses chocolate chip cookie. We also shared fries from Proposition Chicken. My overall impression is that the food/beverages are better at the original restaurants that focus on just those items with (lower prices) when compared to the items we had at LK. I will say that the customer service was exceptional. The cashier was eager to answer questions and was really helpful. My wife ordered a turkey blta sandwich from flavor trippin restaurant. I ordered the s.o.b. Burger and woozy fries and chocolate chip cookie. My wife loved her sandwich. She said it was delicious and very tasty. My wife and I loved the fries and the combination with meat,onions, cheese sauce and jalapeños. I loved the burger with the bacon jam. This concept is genius! It's kind of like a food court in a condensed setting serving different restaurants with their popular dishes. It's clean, the staff is always so friendly from the minute you get in to the time of service. They have whatever I'm craving for from burgers, the SOB from Sweet Onion Burger, my favorite Sumo Crunch from Sushiritto, the Beef Bowl from Nopalito, Pepperoni Pizza from the Square Guys, Crispy Chicken Sandwich from Proposition Chicken. I've always been skeptical of a concept like Local Kitchens so I've avoided this San Bruno location since it opened till recently. Honestly not bad at all. Their opening hours also don't reflect what is stated on yelp. It's also easy getting here because the parking lot is massive. I go here randomly on my late night study sessions and my go to has to be the burgers. Specifically the The Overachieving SOB ($14) and Garlic Fries ($7) and any of the drinks from Boba Guys even though it's not my favorite boba shop. The Matcha Latte ($6.10) is good enough. The prices can be on the higher side which is the downside. I don't recommend the sushirritos or burritos personally. The Overachieving SOB was so good though. The brioche bun is a great choice and the patty and toppings just melt in your mouth. Super crispy fries as well. Also what I like a lot is how comfortable the inside of the store is and the customer service is very friendly and hospitable every time I have gone. Would recommend it here. read more

We had the boba which was delicious. Vietnamese, Mexican and the chicken sandwich. Everything was so good. But what was great was the waiter who was making sure everyone had everything they needed with their orders. From the minute we walked in Zayn, I think his name was? Said welcome, come on in, if you have any questions let me know. We were about to leave but he convinced us to stay. We were so glad we did. Once we had our food he walked around to our tables and others and asked if everything was ok. He also was so polite, ended up getting us to order the boba- so glad we did. The kid was amazing, and really cheerful and made our visit great. We will be back, with that kind of customer service ! He's the kid in the front. read more

I have been to this plaza several times but didn't know about Local Kitchens. Other than Boba Guys, I haven't tried any of the other places. Took about 20 minutes for our food to arrive after placing our order via the kiosk. Ordered the Roasted Cauliflower bowl - for some reason, I thought it would be cauliflower rice but it was regular rice. It was a flavorful bowl with a slight kick. The Proposition chicken strips arrived hot. I had them with a side of the malted mayo, which was needed as the chicken could be dry otherwise. Sis ordered a side of tomato soup and a grilled cheese - simple comfort food. Strawberry Matcha from Boba Guys is my usual go-to. Ordered it as less sweet, but it was still quite sweet. All of the indoor tables were taken during our recent weekend visit, so it seems to be a popular establishment. Convenient to have the various food kitchens available in one place, although there are limited offerings from each kitchen. read more

Be ready for a wait here when it's busy, so definitely order ahead of time (like 30-40 min) if you're coming in on a weekend like I did. We got a birria bowl and a salad with chicken added on from Nopalito Taqueria, and man, something in that salad is addicting (probably the dressing) because I kept chomping on it! I was also starving at that point, so it definitely helped. It was a great way for me to get my greens in, and the mixture of textures was very satisfying too. I can see why this food court type place is pretty popular on the weekends, but you're likely better off doing online pick up, in my honest opinion, because that's what a lot of people seem to do (hence the long wait). read more

I feel like this place was not worth the hype. Inside the place was pretty plain. You order your food on kiosks and then your name plus your wait time showed up on these TVs or big screens. The only time you interact with a human is when you get the food. Really good idea though, I like the concept for sure of being able to order different things from different "restaurants". When I went for dinner on a weekday they were out of a solid amount of entree options so the options were limited. The wait was also pretty bad, my group waited 45-55 mins for 2 sushirritos, a burger, and a rice bowl. The food itself was also not the best quality. Like if I went to an actual sushirrito location I probably would've gotten a more stuffed burrito. read more

851 Cherry Ave, Ste 2 San Bruno, CA 94066 (at Bayhill Shopping Center) On Feb 3, I attended the Grand Opening Party for Local Kitchens (LK) in San Bruno. It's located in the Bayhill Shopping Center, near the I-280 freeway and San Bruno Ave. The restaurant itself is really nice with space for indoor/outdoor dining, restrooms, condiment station and free parking. As of Feb 3, 2024, I have been to every Local Kitchens restaurant in the SF Bay Area, Davis, and Roseville. Each location is different, and each place may offer a slightly different menu. This is not a fast food restaurant, this is a new concept in restaurants called the "micro food hall." After the party, I waited for the restaurant to open for regular business. I guess everyone had the same idea, because the place got slammed with orders. I placed one order across three menus: - Proposition Chicken (aka Prop C) - Half Roast Chicken - Sushirrito - Tempura Shrimp Hand Roll - The Melt - side of seasoned fries Okay, so why only 4-stars? There was confusion at the pickup counter. It wasn't a smooth experience. The place was super busy, and I was told my order was ready while the Local Kitchens App said I had to wait 35 mins. They should of put a supervisor in the kitchen to help route orders. (FYI- when in doubt, check the receipt and make sure that's what you ordered). How was the food? I think my order sat in the holding area for awhile. My fries weren't hot and fresh. I'm not sure if my Sushirrito Handroll was made correctly. But my Prop C Half Roast Chicken was excellent! I stop by sometimes to pick up food to go. Their website is pretty easy to use and you can also sign up for their loyalty program so you can get a $10 reward after you spend X dollars (I think it's $100 or $150). Their selection is decent but more catered towards burgers, pizza, fries etc. I wish they had more Asian offerings which would be great! This place is not the cheapest but food is expensive these days. Expect $15/person for food or so. I do like Proposition Chicken and the Square Pizza Guys. The chicken is always fried nicely but it is not too greasy. The pizza is large and you can easily share a pie with another person. It is however not really traditional pizza (it's Detroit style and very thick). I always use a fork and knife to eat. The pizzas pair well with ranch dressing! They have Boba Guys here but unfortunately no decaf offerings! read more

Decided to give this place a try again a year later, hoping that they would have worked out their kinks. Ever since boba guys in Burlingame closed down, this is the closest option, but since this place is not a boba shop first and kind of a "jack of all trades" type of restaurant I think that everything here is just average or below compared to their original locations. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon, there was no one in the restaurant, the screen shows that there is only 2 pickup orders infront of mine but the estimated time for 1 drink was still 15-17 minutes. 10 minutes go by and turns out my drink was already done but I was still not notified and my order on the screen still says "waiting". Their system may look cool but it does not work properly, a staff had to ask if I was waiting for something since I was the only person in the store. They're offering a code to try the Local Kitchens: trysb But unfortunately, when I went in at lunchtime to order via the kiosk, the promo code was not valid. Weird that it is not valid since this Local Kitchens just recently opened. Needless to say, I didn't end up ordering anything and walked out. Nice space at least. read more
