Really. I'm getting tired of bad reviews. Perhaps I should be more tired of bad service. Weds 1pm. 3 employees, 1 other customer. Took 10min to get someone over to help. Strike 1. When finally helped, told the guy exactly what I was looking for. Need trail, non bright colored, 4-6mm drop, wide toe box, no stability (gait lean which I have, mixes badly with stability features). Dude gave me a couple choices, went to research which shoes would fit my needs best. Then he goes to the counter and has to leave to the bank bc they're low on cash. Brings me other guy to assist. Other guy says, you don't want those shoes try these. The suggestion was too high, not trail, bright and fugly and he says... these are both trail and road and once you get over the color, they're good. Strike 2. Don't try to up sell me, Listen and try to help. I said I would pass on both shoes and he turned around and walked away. Wait man, I still wanted socks. He put the ones I pulled, away while he was walking away earlier. Didn't go get them, didn't apologize. I just grabbed them myself again and paid and left. He wasn't really interested in JUST selling 6 pair of socks. Strike 3. I'm out. I'll order these socks next time from amazon or something. No need to visit NB Pasadena again. This is why I go to my local running shoe stores. They listen, respond and are happy with a $30 sock sale as much as with the $130 shoe sale. read more

Amazing! I can never say enough good things about this New Balance location. Love the customer service from Dante! He was so patient and took his time measuring and scanning my arch balance so that he could find the right shoe to fit my needs. The store is impeccable and the cleanliness was more than I thought during these times. I have to say this store rocked keeping social distance without compromising customer service. Fantastic shoes! Great staff and everyone is knowledgeable. They will recommend different options depending on what you need. I've only been buying New Balance and I can't see myself getting anything else. My girlfriends aunt has had surgeries on both of her feet and we took her here to get new shoes and insoles. She feels so comfortable in them and always thanks us for getting them for her. New Balance has a variety of options for every lifestyle. I came across this store last month when I went to exchange a pair of New Balance that I ordered on-line. First of all I had never heard of a New Balance store--what a great visit I had! 1st the assistant manager (Jonathan) did a scan of my feet and reviewed that with me--I had never had that done before! 2nd he showed me the correct pair of shoes to buy to help make wearing shoes comfortable which is a big plus for me since I'm on and off my feet all day long--I was blown away by the excellent customer service! I was so rave about it I keep my eyes out for New Balance Stores now when I travel. My husband is getting ready to go on a long business trip and today said to me, want to go to the New Balance store for me and I'll also buy you a new pair of shoes as an early birthday present? You guessed it...I did not turn him down! So today we went into the store, Jonathan recognized me, said he was busy interviewing an employee but that he would have Brett take care of us and that Brett did. He measured my husband's feet, reviewed that with him, recommended 2 pairs, let me husband try everything--wasn't pushy, but came and checked back on us. I mentioned my husband needed sweats too, Brett directed us there, left and came back to tell us there was a 25% sale going on. Took my mom here to get some comfy extra wide shoes per her doctors recommendation. Miguel greeted us at the door and helped us with everything we needed. Ask for him, he's awesome! They have this machine that measures your foot and arch which is cool. It's pretty quick and you can see the results. Loved trying shoes on here. You just sit back and relax while they undo the laces, slide your foot in, tie the laces-you're pretty spoiled. No extra work required, except when you need to stand up and walk a few steps to make sure you like them. I mean, I know it's not hard to try shoes on yourself, but it just feels better when you don't have to. They also have different insoles to try if you need extra comfort. My friends and I came here because one of them and I needed new shoes. When we walked in, we noticed a young lady employee standing around, but she didn't welcome us or anything. She didn't even ask if we needed assistance. We were looking at shoes for awhile, and a couple of other employees were helping other customers, we just sort of helped ourselves. I sort of already knew what kind of shoes I wanted, so I asked the least busy looking employee (at this point, the girl who at first was just standing around, was helping another customer) for my size. This guy was very helpful to me and my friends. He gave us a lot of information, made recommendations without being pushy, and was really patient when we wanted our feet analyzed. The only reason I am giving 1 star, is because I'm unable to leave no stars. Given the very nice location this store is located in, it is a shame that the customer service here is not. At the time of arrival, there were 3 employees on hand with 1 other customer in the store. I was offered help immediately, although I wanted to browse the store before needing assistance. Once I was ready, I sat and waited for someone to come back to help. The employee that had offered help originally, left to do something in back of the store. Since there was 2 other employees out front, I waited for the available employee to help. Mind you, he did notice that I was waiting but continued to do something else. When he finally decided to come over and help, I requested the shoes I wanted to try on. I had been researching these shoes for days, and only came to the Pasadena store because they were in stock. So when requesting them, he immediately says that they do not have them in stock. Without even checking, and offers to show me similar shoes that are higher in price. At this time I was still interested in purchasing shoes, but when I requested to have my foot measured he refused to. Even when it is clearly advertised on the website, and on yelp that they offer measuring services. By this time, the young lady from the back finally came out. He goes over to tell her that I wanted my foot measured, and that he was not going to help me. By this time, I was very upset and decided to get up and leave. The young lady did offer to help me towards the end, but I was already so disappointed by how I was treated. Safe to say that I will not be returning to this store, and I'm extremely hesitant in continuing to buy the New Balance brand. I truly believe, that if you're going to have people representing your brand, great customer service is where it begins. read more

First time shopping at the NB store in Pasadena, and Rene made our experience very unpleasant. We came in the afternoon and it wasn't very busy. There were two other sales reps helping others out, and Rene approached us after waiting for some time. He wasn't friendly, welcoming, or professional. His approach made us feel rushed and unwelcome- like tell me what you want and get out of here. I noticed that the other sales reps were taking their time, making suggestions, asking questions, scanning feet, and engaging with the customers in order to understand their needs and sale the products that would best work for them. Rene did not do any of the above, and when we asked him questions he gave short answers as he walked away. The shoes we wanted were not available in the size we needed so he brought out the same pair in a different color. When we asked if he can order them online for us or if there was another shoe similar to what we wanted- he responded that he didn't know what was available online as he walked away once again. We ended up buying a pair of shoes and left feeling unwanted. Had Rene taken the time to do what the other sales reps were doing maybe we would have walked out with more shoes and accessories like insoles, socks, etc. Most of the good reviews are for Mark, Chad, and other sales reps- I am not surprised! I wish Mark or someone else wanting to do their job would have helped us out that day. read more

This place is so clean it squeaks like a fresh pair of kicks on a virgin basketball court. It's only been open for a couple of months so the romance is still there, and the staff are eager to please. When I walked in, the place was near empty, fifteen minutes later it was full so my timing was on. I was duly greeted when I came in and then I made my way to the shoe racks trying to avoid salespeople which is "my way" but somehow I never made it because Ulises commented on my bright orange shirt with the picture of the Hindu elephant god Ganesha (remover of all obstacles) advertising Anjuna surf wax (not real) and check out Anjuna, wow! Next vacation...jus' sayin".http://www.goahub.com/goa/beaches/anjuna_beach.html) -Anyway, that was the ice breaker and it turns out we both knew someone, who knew someone and then we were buds. This guy was totally competent and took me through a carefully designed fitting process that ended up in a perfect fit with the perfect shoe for my needs. I was blown away with this guy. In his doctor mode he had me walk around to check my feet for pronation or any weird rolling characteristics. My arches were great and my feet are totally symmetrical. Ok no special needs shoes needed. Then he was a carpenter, whipping out his specialized Brannok device to get exact measurements of my feet. Then he was a scientist carefully explaining the different substrate layering designs of the three different spongy materials used to give the shoes bounce and which shoes match which activities. He even gave me running and training tips as well as ideas on cleaning the shoes. He had no 'tude about going back and getting more shoes three times, and had no problem with me trying on my two competing pairs another three times to be sure I got the right one. An advantage of the layout to this place is that there is a track that goes around the inside perimeter of the building, so there is no problem giving the shoes a good test drive. There is ample bench seating so there is a minimal feeling of crowdedness even when the place gets crowded. They have three cash registers so there is not a wait, and the staff is super nice if even if the customer isn't. (Not me of course, but the uptight diamond factory next to me in line). Came in on a Sunday and there were 3 employees standing near the door looking outside seemingly bored. One said hello, the other 2 never made eye contact with me. I overheard one of them say, "Another hour, oh my god!" Not a great first impression. I had to hunt down someone to help me, even though those 3 were doing nothing when I walked in 10 minutes prior. The guy that "helped" me seemed put out by having to actually do something. He suggested I might have plantar fasciitis, which I do not, and then went a bit further in asking me, "Do you know what that is?" I felt insulted and annoyed. So right away we got a sales guy and he was eager to help, measured our feet, etc. All was going well but he kept bringing us shoes that we just didn't love and they were all way over our price range ($140!?). Anyways, we were there for about an hour and when we didn't like any of the shoes but did buy some laces and socks, the sales guy turned into a meanie! I went to this store because I read the reviews, but was very disappointed. The young man who waited on me was no help at all from the time I walked into the store until I left. I had read about how the store professionally measures your feet. The salesman asked me what size shoe I wear, when I asked about measuring my foot, he brought out a simple foot measurer that you find at any shoe store. I'm not sure why they call this professional measuring! Then even though I told him I had a wide foot, he brought out shoes that were not wide width. In the end, I walked out of the store without buying anything and extremely disappointed with the service. I would not even give this store 1 star. read more

Also when I came into the store a few months ago I was there for ten minutes and no one paid any attention to me whatsoever, so I left. Now today Sunday I came in really wanting to leave with a new pair, and once again I'm completely ignored till on the way out I remark to a salesman that I was never helped, now he comes outside and tells me to come back in and they will help me now, how embarrassing I'm not going back in and I tell him it wasn't the first time this had happened. Well I got another update for you guys, I came in to the store 35 minutes before closing and only two staff were at the store. Both staff assisting another customer at the cashier desk. I walked in with my 4 year old son and browsed around for about 2 minutes then I was gonna make my way up to the cashier to ask for some help but the staff at the cashier desk beat me to it. The guy's name is Renne, he was very polite and stayed assisting me the whole time just like the last guy who helped me and my wife the last time i was here Hence why i came back. He brought me several pairs of shoes to try on my son and to try on a peace of cardboard that I cut out in the exact shape of my older Autistic kids feet to make my shopping more pleasant, let's just put it that way lol! Anyways the guy brought out several pairs of shoes and I was able to find exactly what I was looking for. I got 3 pairs of the 990s 1 for my 4 year old and 1 for each of my twin 10 year Olds who happen to be a boy and a girl, lucky for me that my twins are the same shoe size!!!!! Just my 10 year old son is 3 Inches shorter than his twin sister. With that said. Excellent experience yet again by this store. So the price is a bit high for my liking but I wanted some great quality shoes for my kids and new balance had what I wanted. I will be coming back next month to finally get my self a pair of those 990s and a pair of sandals for my self for walking around the house. I've done this twice where I come in dressed poorly to see how I would get treated and these guys have passed 2 times so far by treating me in a polite manner and as a valuable customer. I have had extremely bad luck with shoes in general...but after arriving at the store, I put my faith in Jeff, one of the sales staff. He was both charming and patient. The store has special computerized equipment that not only measure the size of each foot, but also analyzes your stance and where the pressure points are on your feet. I have a wide foot and Jeff found me a perfect pair of walking shoes for about $130.00. I had a great experience and after wearing the shoes for the last two weeks, I have found them to be worth every penny! I've been struggling with plantar fasciitis in my right foot for over a year and I've seen a podiatrist, chiropractor, masseuse and Reiki therapist, all the treatments helped a little, but my right foot is still very painful. I did all the recommended therapy, including stretching my calves, wearing a "soft boot" to stretch my foot, cold packs and massage, but was still in a lot of pain. Then last weekend my husband suggested we try New Balance Shoes on Arroyo Parkway in Pasadena. We were lucky enough to have Cesar as our sales associate, and he carefully measured both my feet, finding that one foot is slightly larger than the other. He also did a diagnostic test to see where the pain and hotspots occur, and found my right foot was over pronating (turning in) causing my entire leg to be out of balance. After assessing my condition, he suggested several pairs of walking shoes, and when I tried one pair on, I felt an immediate relief of the pain in my right leg and foot. The shoes have done much to correct the position of my feet while walking, and the absence of excruciating pain is both a relief and a blessing. Cesar's attentive, knowledgeable care in helping me choose the correct pair of shoes has resulted in much less daily pain when I walk and stand. Arrived with less than an hour to go before the store closed yesterday, trying to squeeze in an errand. I have wide feet so finding shoes for work is often a pain. I know that New Balance offers wide sizes so I came in to check out their Dunham line of shoes. Assistance came quick and the gentleman measured my foot and brought out multiple pairs of shoes for me to try on. It was nice to see someone working hard up until closing. When the shoe style I liked did not come in the wide-color combo I wanted, he offered to let me try on the shoe in another color and then see if they offered the desired color in a wide-size. He hustled back and forth and never stranded me, but he also never smothered this shopper. Even though I decided to sleep on my decision, the staff member was extremely helpful and shook my hand. I love the fact that he was helpful but never pushed a sale on me. He didn't even appear disappointed. Now that's some great service. The shoes are pricey but New Balance makes good shoes.
