Fantastic spot for Iranian food. I would recommend for families or anyone who wants to try new cuisines but not go too intense with flavor. It's very mild in flavor and not too authentic Iranian. I've definitely had more intense places which I prefer, this is a great introduction to Iranian food without overwhelming the palette. Covid: they're open! Masks required. Everything is outdoors operated. It gets really hot and sunny in the front so be prepared for that! Parking lot is a bit tight but there is also street parking available. I enjoyed the Luleh kebab and the green Iranian rice! They serve this beautiful homemade bread freshly made. Service was fine, I totally get their sense of humor. A little bit of a cold shoulder as some have mentioned, but it's not out of spite or hate it's just a part of their vibe. read more

We came here a few times for an office lunch right before the pandemic hit. I'm not kidding it was one of the best meals I have ever had. I had the chicken kebab and it was so tender and juicy. It was also a huge plate of food. I love their freshly baked bread. I've never gone to a place where they bake it fresh on the spot. I also tried (for the first time) Dizi and the stew, they were both unbelievable. Their eggplant appetizer was also delicious. I've also tried their shish and luleh kebabs. Both were cooked perfectly. they were tender and really juicy. The rice is always well cooked and never dry. Each time I've gone, the food and service has been outstanding. I know my coworkers and I will be coming back here as soon as we can dine in again. read more

Believe it or not I first heard about this place from the Los Angeles Times Jonathan Golds article. This place is truly BOSS! Everything here tastes amazing and like homemade with love. Really This place beats most of Persian Armenian middle eastern restaurants in the same city and surrounding areas. I am not an expert but there is no Kabob and fresh bread with the quality like the one they offer! 20/20 Warm Hospitality and positive environment. This was the best Iranian food I have ever had in my life. The service was amazing! Server who helped us let us try free eggplant dip and bread. It was wonderful! You must order the fresh bread and eggplant dip. Rip up some small bits of fresh mint in the eggplant and enjoy. There are few pleasures in life as good as this.... The Gheimeh was excellent, deep flavor with lots of spices. Kabobs came out piping hot and we're delicious. Would definitely recommend the ground beef kabob! Overall, delicious food and will be back for more! read more

I must say, the food here is just okay, nothing impressive. The Abgusht might be passable, but the SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! They were rude and just didn't care! If I could rate them with negative stars, I would gladly do so! Prepare yourself for this ridiculousness: THEY ACTUALLY CHARGE FOR SHARING! Our bill was already exorbitant at over $200, yet they had the audacity to add an extra $3 PER EMPTY plate when we shared our portions $3x3 being $9 dollars. Not that 9 dollars matters but it's just poor judgment! And to top it off, we were only a group of four! It's just principle and it's silly! If we had eaten 1 meal and shared and taken up tables when busy I can understand, but it was empty and it was just a frivolous up charge! To express my frustration, I left a smaller tip, but honestly, the owner's financial abuse of customers reflects the utter horribleness of the entire experience! So disappointing, they are ruining the Los Angeles Persian heritage personality of kindness and love and the L.A. the Iranian food cultures name! We used to be regulars here pre-covid. Today was the first time in a while we came back and we were definitely very disappointed. The service lacked in so many ways and the food was mid. Prices were up there with other places we've been too with this having half the portion. It definitely needs improvements. read more

This is probably the worst restaurant in all of Glendale in regards to customer service. My husband and I had 2 plates of chicken kabob with soft drinks and a plate of appetizers that should be around $40 we have been visiting this place for a while because their Grill Chicken is really good. And we Ususally tip the only server in the place, a very nice guy cash because we were told that the owner pocket the tip. The owner is probably the rudest guy in all of Glendale. Today when I ask to inquire why we were unreasonably overcharged, he yelled at me in front of all his customers. He said loudly that we have been coming to his place and not leaving tip. First off, even if I didn't tip, that would be none of his darn business. I know why he was upset because he wasn't pocketing the tip himself. This was the worst experience of my life at a restaurant and I will never again go back to this place. read more

This place is a hidden gem. It's a petite place with a small parking lot that shares with other businesses but there are plenty of street parking around. I love that they bake their own bread in-house. The reason why I mention this first is because the first thing you small and notice is the big oven behind the kitchen and the small of freshly baked bread. They also bring a loaf of it out as soon as you sit down with some onions and herbed greens. People really just put the greens in the bread and eat it that way. It's almost like a small appetizer. Yesterday when we were there I decided to order the Kashk Bademjoon which is an eggplant type of dip. We ordered a side of mast musir which is yogurt with shallots. We also got boneless chicken kabob with side of salad shirazi which is onion, cucumber and tomatoes finally chopped. Minutes later all of our order came out. And wow they looked amazing. My phone died after I took a picture of the kashk bademjoon but believe me the presentation is up there. We finally dug in and everything was fantastic. The chicken kabob was perfectly marinated and BBQed. The salad shirazi was very fresh along with the yogurt with shallots. And the bread! I can't get over it. It's warm and crispy yet soft. Also the service is very good. There are a couple of guys that constantly clean and walk around to make sure every customer is happy there. The owners great , the cool is great , the manager is great ! This dummy who is a token server is horrible. The prices went up but the food justify it .. the only thing I don't like is the server .Besides him 4.5 out of 5 . With him it's a 2 . But my rate will be 5 to balance it . read more

I hesitated to review my experience at Nersses Vanak today, but it was too disappointing to ignore.This was my second visit; the first time was excellent. However, this time, I ordered the same items--a skewer of boneless chicken and a skewer of chicken with bone, without rice--but I was informed that they couldn't accommodate this request without charging the full price(which kinda sounds like BS to me) Reluctantly, I agreed to have the boneless chicken with Shirazi salad instead. When my order arrived, the chicken was severely undercooked, so I sent it back. They kindly brought me a new plate, but unfortunately, the chicken was still undercooked. I ended up eating only two pieces out of seven. I didn't complain a second time as I am hesitant to cause a fuss and understand how challenging the food industry can be. Although they were kind enough not to charge me for the meal, I left with a sense of disappointment. My salad and bread were nice, but the overall experience was marred by the undercooked chicken. With one start I only questioning the quality of food not staff not environment only FOOD . read more

Cozy, comforting soul food. The dizi special is amazing. Rich seasoned beef broth soup, and a side of meat that is smashed and combined with garbanzo and turmeric-melts in your mouth. No one makes it better. It's a small place but the service is excellent and they are straight to the point. They take your order and let you enjoy. They have kebab which is delicious, but I always go for the dizi special. Get side order of the pickled veggies. read more

I've been meaning to try the dizi here forever! Sitting at Nersses Vanak is like sitting inside a giant bread oven (not temperature-wise: smell-wise). I'm not much of a bread eater but I wanted to bury myself in bread after two minutes in here. Which is good, because you're supposed to throw your bread into your dizi (lamb/chickpea stew) to thicken it up. It really needs the bread to turn into a stew - without it it's brothy oil and chunks. But delicious brothy oil and chunks! And the lamb is so tender. I'm not sure what you're supposed to do with the plate of mystery leaves that look and taste like a cross between mint and basil. We just sort of ate the like salad. To accompany all of this, we also got the baghali polo (dill lima bean rice) with trout. The trout was slightly burnt but maintained a nice flavor. If you've never had this kind of rice before, it may taste a little like kitchen cleaner at first pass because of how herby it is and the fact that it uses saffron (am I the only one who detects a chloriny tint to saffron?) but it pairs well with the trout (and even with a couple spare scoops of dizi). read more

After discovering Nersses Vanak on PostMates last month, I've now had it delivered three additional times since. This restaurant brings me back over and over for its amazing dizi and kebabs. The bread is warm and fragrant. They send it over with a bag of fresh Persian basil, which somehow manages to taste better than regular basil--an already incredible herb. The food is simply incredible. Even better, the portions are enormous so a single dinner order will flow over to a lunch that actually reheats well. Do yourself a favor and place an order. But fair warning: you may fall into the same craving cycle that I'm now stuck in. Still, I have no regrets. read more

4 stars only for the food. It's better if you order for take out because if you decide to eat inside then the problem starts. There are lots of noises around and no music at all. Also the most disgusting issue is the flys. This creature is inside the restaurant all around. This is a serious issue. How come a fly gets inside the restaurant so easily??? The management needs to do something about it. The food tastes good and if you order Soltani or Barg, please let the waiter know how do you like it. No one asked me and I got a pink colored meat which I do not like. read more

Awful service, not coming back. Food is overpriced, portions are pretty small. They don't give you free water and the tea we ordered was in a much smaller glass than the other people they served. They took the glass away from our table before we even finished it or asked for a refill. When we kindly asked why we were given a smaller portion, the waiter brushed us off and rudely said they ran out of glasses (even though they served the other table the big glasses after us??) Not sure if we were treated differently because we were younger/an interracial group. Would highly recommend going to Raffis place instead. read more

Worst place ever please do not go I went by a referral from a friend,my order was to 8 days later I could not believe him the owner refused my order simply because it is on Sunday and AFTER 8 days it was only for 10 people just because it's his busy day and it's not that big money for him ....shame on him . What a way to welcome a new customer I say unfortunately this is typical I DON'T CARE customer service ,SO Unprofessional . he didn't even negotiate with me about the time if he can deliver my order earlier on Sunday since he's busy on Sunday and he didn't even look to a schedule he's thinking he might be busy Sunday at 2 PM Also He was so rude to me ,I couldn't believe what I saw today I have been in United stated since 2004 Never ever saw such a bad customer service . We came on a lively weekday evening. They don't do reservations, but we were warmly greeted and quickly seated with lavash and butter on our table immediately. The restaurant has a beautiful and romantic atmosphere, with hybrid indoor/outdoor courtyard dining. Our waiter was attentive and made us feel very welcomed. I'd give this restaurant more than 5 stars if I could!

This might be the restaurant I've been to the most number of times. Thanks to my friend who loves…read morethis place so every time she gets a chance, we will dine here. We always sit at the covered patio. The place is always busy so service could be slow at times. We always order the plates with rice and salad. We have tried the Beef Koobideh, Shish Kebab and grilled salmon. It's the same orders every single time but I'm not sure what else to get? Do you have any recommendations?

I don't find pork dishes to often at Kabab places. It's the main reason I wanted to try this place. The older gentleman was great. He took our order, prepared and cooked our order, and served our order. We ordered the Irka which is an eggplant dip, and he gave us complimentary cucumber yogurt and potato salad. Every dide was delicious and went well with our entrees. I like restaurants like this because it really makes you feel like you're visiting at someone's house and they're making their food from their homeland for you.
