What a wonderful dining experience right next to our hotel (Starhotels Metropole) in Rome. They severe the meals with freshly baked breads that tasted so good with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The service was fast and great. They answer all the questions we had on food allergy. Both pasta dishes we ordered were delicious. They tasted so good that we asked for extra breads to soak up all the sauces. After dinner, my wife chose to have Panna Cotta which was recommended by our server as their best selling desert. It was so good that I only got one bite. While trying to pay our bill, we were offered three different liquors to sample: Limoncello, Meloncello, and Grappa Candolini. The restaurant was packed with patrons. We told that they open at 4 pm to 11 pm to allow more people to enjoy the dining sensation here. All the staff are friendly and the dining experience here was the best that I ever had. Too bad that we did not find this hidden jewel the first night we were here. Besides the class we took at EnjoyCooking where we made our own ravioli and pizza, this was the BEST restaurant experience we had in Rome. The staff were immediately so welcoming and thoughtful. It was a rainy evening and we reserved an indoor room (by the way, reservations are made by e-mailing or calling the restaurant directly). When we checked in they said we could get out of the rain and sit down in their outdoor patio until our table was ready. The staff came to speak to me and just have a friendly conversation. Before long we were welcomed to our table. Unlike the other restaurants that ask if you want still or sparkling and then charge you for the bottle of water, Nerone has an ongoing water fountain where they fill pitchers and do not charge for really good tasting wonderful drinking water. This alone was stellar. Our server was phenomenally friendly making me feel as though we had known him for years. They had a daily special of gnocchi with any choice of sauce. The food was so good! I loved the pasta as well as the chicken with a good Marsala sauce and side of veggies. The dessert with salted caramel panna cotta was a delight and recommended over the tiramisu. The inside provides a little more personal space than most other restaurants in this area but still a warm home-like atmosphere. If I return to Rome it is the one and only restaurant I will make a point to return to hands down. read more

The crispy panchetta slices are generous. Panna Cotta- Creamy and light with a variety of sauces to try: chocolate, caramel, and amarena cherries. The caramel was my favorite, the sauce was rich and decadent and you get crumbled biscuits for extra texture. The pasta was fresh and cooked wonderfully, the sauces were so delicious and the seafood was cooked to perfection. Then the service went above and beyond!!! Well, in Rome, we were looking for a place for dinner and found this place here on yelp. It was close to our hotel so we walked over. There was nobody inside, so we took a nice table inside where they offered us complementary water, which is rare to find in Rome. We ordered pizza, carbonara, bruschetta And the salmon special. Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was phenomenal. Our server was really friendly and fun. He even gave us free drinks, even though we didn't even ask for them. First, he brought us three lemoncellos at no charge. Then he brought us 3 melloncellos at no charge. He kept wanting to bring us more drinks at no charge, but we had to turn them away because we didn't want to drink anymore. He even gave us a free dessert. This is a late post (almost a year late) but this place gets enough attention on its own. The food and ambiance is great. Pictures I think speak for itself. Be sure to make a reservation beforehand because they are full every day. We didn't so we had to come back the next day to get seated but it's worth it. I hadn't made reservations in Rome. Ooops! I figured we'd wing it but I wanted to make sure I tried some carbonara in the city it was founded in so I looked up some places. There was nothing available so we had to take a 430pm reso, when they opened. I'm not sure if it was circumstances or not, but we could have strolled in at 6pm without a reservation. It was Rome Pride that day, so the streets were full but the restaurant was not. Walking in though, we were greeted so warmly. They were like, "Christina!!! So good to meet you in person!" This was immensely comforting and I appreciated it. Everyone who worked here was so friendly and caring. Almost everyone was Filipino and they made me feel like maybe I could move to Italy.... The restaurant is cute with some old world decorations. The water fountain is really a highlight and the water that comes out of it is cool and delicious. The food. Banger! My carbonara was rich and delightful. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly. When we didn't want dessert, they brought us a caramel panna cotta that was so good, I would have paid double what it cost for. My girlfriend and I had to grab a late dinner and after some searching we found Nerone. When walking into Nerone they had both outside and inside seating. Their outside seating was on their patio right in front of the restaurant and they even had a violinist playing music. The staff were also very nice and attentive. They were always there when you needed them and they even gave us a couple of free pistachio and melon shots at the end of our meal. In terms of the food, it was amazing as well. I ordered their lasagna and my girlfriend ordered their creamy pasta with truffle and sausage and both were absolutely delicious. "Reno" is going to miss you, staff Nerone, especially Kim and Angelo! Our first night flying into Rome, we found Nerone. Inside, we were greeted as if we were long-lost friends, welcomed in with open arms, even though we were 30 minutes until closing time. Kim and Angelo gave us water from their special fountain and then served us our first real taste of Italy! We had cacio e pepe, ricotta and spinach ravioli, and caprese.
