I frequent this place weekly, and have sampled many offerings here. Locally grown coffee drinks made in a measured fashion. The level of detail here is astounding. I mean sprinkling edible glitter on frosting?? ...oh ya! Iridescent glassware and silverware and custom insulated mugs?!? I'l telling you, this is a top shelf establishment. It's impressive because Hilo lacks this approach in general. Bubble Waffles are the new thing to try if you haven't. We live in Kohala and I get so excited to drive to Hilo to visit my favorite cafe. The front of the cafe has the most incredibly curated crystals and art and essential oils. The drinks are magical in how they look and taste! I have had smoothies and coffee drinks at the bar, but my hands down favorite is the milkshake. I always get chocolate! It is literally THE best I have ever had. I can't even make one at home this good! It's thick and rich and you get a choice of having whip cream on top or not. There are small bursts of chocolate bits that melt instantly on your palate, adding to the richness. Seriously, I dare you to find a better milkshake! Our daughters love the healthy smoothies which are lovingly made with superfoods and coconut milk. We also love getting an ice cold lemonade infused with rose quartz and walking around checking out the Bayfront shops. The sandwiches are incredible, but I always order the Elffle which is a BLT in a savory cheddar and chive bubble waffle. The green lettuce and the tomatoes must be local because they are always so fresh and busting with flavor! I can assure you, if you order anything here you will be so happy! We always peruse the front of the store as we wait for our order. You are sure to find a magical surprise that you will treasure. I did let the owner know last time I visited that I am always so blown away at the customer service. The barista will always come out and hand your drink to you. A sure fire way to guarantee that you'll leave happy & come back again and again. *Everyone in that squad of employees always has a friendly smile and they are all so beautiful! It really makes a difference that they go above and beyond with customer service. I did see that there were some complaints about restrooms. This is an issue all over Hilo actually. We usually stop at Bayfront to use the public restroom before going to the downtown shops. I have come with my husband towing two six-man canoes behind our big truck. He knows I have to always stop at Nector. He parked on the highway by the ocean because of the trailer. I jumped the chain link fence and ran across the highway that time. You can take home essences of Hawai'i such as plumeria, pikake, and gardenia. We worked together at the Hualalai Spa at Four Seasons. Super super super cute place! As soon as my son and I walked in, I felt like I was transported beyond the reaches of Hilo town. Came in because my hubs wanted to try the bombon. I ended up getting a pineapple ice tea with a splash of honey by the recommendation of their lovely staff (I asked for refreshing). It certainly was refreshing without being overpowering. My son had the cinnamon muffin, which he was apprehensive to share after the first bite. My other son had the berry scone. He asked to go back again just for the scones. I had the pumpkin biscotti, the flavor was on point, enough to keep me wanting more. I tried other places but one was too thin and hardly tasted of matcha, one added ice cream and was too sweet, one had too much matcha and was bitter, and one was too sweet although the matcha could be tasted. Nestor Cafe has the best recipe. You can taste the matcha and a hint of sweetness. It is blended with finely crushed ice and condensed milk with substitutions for milk and additions of espresso, chocolate,whipped cream,etc. I go there every chance I get. Food is good, customer service has a lot to be desired Businesses should be able to set boundaries. Full send agree. However, finding a solution is key. If you are not willing to remake orders, if a paying guest says it was made incorrectly, you should turn the screen around and ask every guest if their order is correct before sending it to the kitchen. We had a Staff member take our order. At this point, it was he said/she said because we were never asked if our order was correct . The boundaries are fine, but now you need a check and balance in place. read more
