Cute and small coffee shop attached to a communal work space (you have to pay but it's a great space). The menu is small but their drinks do not disappoint. I got the golden latte with just one shot of espresso and it was ready quickly! Super tasty too. There are benches inside and limited outdoor seating. There's an outlet near the indoor bench, but I didn't see any outside. They provide blankets though in case it's a little chilly! Lots of parking since it's in a business area too. I was in the area a couple weeks ago so we decided to try a new coffee place. I'm lactose intolerant so I was thinking about ordering their oat milk with my latte, but the barista recommended their house almond milk - which sounded great. They took a while to make their drinks, but when I got it it was really creamy and delicious. I was like this can't be almond milk? I made sure to confirm with the description on the cup and it clearly stated AL for almond milk. After about an hour my stomach started to hurt and feel very uncomfortable. All my lactose intolerants, you know how this feels, right? I got home and I was still very uncomfortable for the rest of the day. Another thing I wanted to mention was, they ran out of ice on my initial visit causing us and other customers a much longer wait time. I know that they were doing their best with what they had as they were getting more ice, but no apology of any kind was given to the customers for this inconvenience. The only explanation that was given to us for the delays was a dull, "we're out of ice and waiting for more to come." This response shows a lack of professionalism and care for the customers. By the way, we only found out about the ice situation after we asked why the drinks were taking so long. I came back today to try the almond milk latte again and sure enough, my suspicions were confirmed. Indeed, my initial drink was made with regular milk. I understand people make mistakes, but that's a very serious mistake. All in all, in terms of taste, it's not bad. But in terms of efficiency and service/attention to detail, they are beyond lacking. we went to neat coffee excited to grab some good coffee and have a pleasant experience however we found neither during our excursion today. my partner and i both ordered lattes. i got the honey lavender and he got an iced vanilla latte. while we waited, we felt very uncomfortable but we couldn't quite figure out why. maybe it was the silence in the cafe, or maybe the attitudes of the baristas that made us feel that way. regardless, we were excited to get our coffee. the first sip of my latte was strange. i figured it wouldn't be so bad after the second sip, but it never tasted good. in fact, it tasted like water and urine to be quite frank. my partner ended up getting a hot vanilla latte that tasted like cardboard and cigarette. i wish i were joking. we were pretty bummed about our coffee (and our super stale donut), and probably will make it a point to avoid neat coffee. do better. read more

Vegan do bites and raw vegan cinnamon rolls are pretty amazing.., coffee good but way overpriced. Pastries aren't cheap either but worth it! I would go somewhere else for cheaper coffee. read more

Neat Coffee is a cool neighborhood cafe. It looks deceiving small from the outside, with limited parking to match. Guess it's okay because there are plenty of residential street parking available. Once inside, there are plenty of communal tables and bar stools. That being said, lots of people work out of here even though the chairs are uncomfortable so it's hard to gain seating sometimes. I got the flat white and it was a perfect cup of coffee. Smooth would be a great word to describe it. -1 star for serving lukewarm coffee. My flat white was cold half way through my cup. read more

I work at a coffee shop and have made my share of eggnog lattes so I know that normally I don't like eggnog lattes. HOWEVER, I decided to try the eggnog cappuccino offered here for a limited time during the winter season just for the heck of it and I was more than pleasantly surprised by the flavor, texture, and consistency of the drink. The interior is modern minimalist, and honestly there aren't a lot of seats. It seems to cater to a few local regulars so it definitely has an exclusive "underground" vibe. It was even hard to find because it's a small building in a neighborhood. The parking suffers a bit for this, but it was worth it. The workers were friendly and knowledgeable about their craft. They took their time to make each beverage high quality and they don't give a lid. The drink is meant to be enjoyed right away. It was expensive but like I said, worth it. This place had hands down the best eggnog coffee I've ever had and that's including the ones I've even made myself. read more

Neats coffee gotta be the best place to do your meetings at this coffee shop is so aesthetically pleasing And their drinks are amazing !!! I've always wanted to try this place out because it was such a huge hype and it looked delicious ( plus Instagram worthy ;) ) so on the way to work stopped by this place. Parking lot : They have a wide parking lots so fret not you'll be able to find enough place to park because it's in a business complex area. At first I was curious if I was in the right place but you'll eventually see their signs outside the building ! Though this shop is part of a business building, with very limited space and a few outdoor seating, it's literally got one of the best signature latte I've ever had: Golden Latte! The barista was super nice and u became quickly acquainted with him. His name is Derek, really easy to talk and very friendly! Had a great conversation with him. After hearing good things about this place, I decided to give it a try!! I love specialty lattes so I decided to go for their juniper rose latte (February special!) I ordered and asked for it to-go, then sat down at the tables to wait for my drink. I was wondering why my name wasn't being called as I then noticed that the barista was half way into making my drink, stopped, and then proceeded to help the new customer coming in. I then stood up to see if she would notice me waiting. She finally noticed and then excused herself from helping the new customers and finally proceeded to finish making my drink. After I took my first sip I noticed there was no rose flavoring in the latte! It was simply a plain iced latte. The barista must've been distracted with the new customer and forgot to add flavoring. I was really disappointed because I expected something floral and sweet! However, it was already too late as I had already left the parking lot and decided it was not worth going back. Not sure if I would come back here next time as there are plenty of other amazing coffee shops in the Costa Mesa/Newport beach area. read more

But not the kind of family where not being apart of it feels like you're being left out (I.e. baristas looking at a customer like they are simply an interruption to highly important conversation about single origin coffee beans). No no. This is the kind of family that you instantly feel and are welcomed into the second that you walk through the doors. The kind where they notice your haircut or ask a follow up question on something that you mentioned in passing the week before. (Not to mention, they remember your order.) It's a family because Ally's heart and intention for this community has set such an unmistakable tone. She really demonstrates the 'you get what you give' mentality whether it's the service she provides in every cup that she pours, or the support she offers in spreading the word of other small businesses at a Saturday pop up. This gal is walking the walk, people. I love drinking their coffee, eating their food, spending time in their space and giving them all of my money AND I WONT SHUT UP ABOUT IT. After original Neat closed I was sad. Ally took that as an opportunity to grow and open her new location. This place is amazing, each barista has a great personality. Ally is there everyday and ALWAYS has a smile on. If she's not taking your order shes making your coffee, creating relationships with new customers and doing her best to make everyone feel welcome. She walks to work cause she lives in the neighborhood and this is her dream shop. She loves West Side Costa Mesa and her love shows brightly through how she runs her shop. Even though it's small with limited (outdoor) seating, I really loved the layout of this cute cafe. I came here on Friday because I heard such great things about their Golden Latte. It's made with almond milk and flavored syrup. Although I liked the fact that the use local organic ingredients, it didn't really stand out to me. I don't think I'd spend $6 again for it, but I'd go back to try their other drinks (like their regular lattes and cold brew). It's a perfect place to get a quick drink but I wouldn't recommend it for studying. They rent out a workspace, which is directly connected to their cafe, so you'd have to buy an hr/day pass to study inside. Their customer service stood out, as they took the time to talk to the customers; it seemed as if they made genuine connections with the regulars, as they greeted almost everyone by name as they walked in. read more
