I'd give Peter R. zero stars if I could. He is a criminal. I caught, on video, one of NCS' moving trucks backing into my car. Take a look for yourself at the back of the NCS truck backing into the rear of my car in the first few seconds of the video: https://bit.ly/40zVBGg Peter did everything he possibly could to cheap out on repairs to my car and did not even show a shred of decency in resolving the situation in an amicable manner. I had to use my own insurance for several thousand dollars of repairs. I'm glad I no longer have to share a parking lot with NCS. I can't imagine how much else that they get away with. I feel really bad for Holly, Hamid, Frank and everybody else working for Peter, because they are nice people. read more

I had a wonderful experience working with NCS Moving Services. A mutual friend referred me to NCS as I was planning a move from the Bay Area to Oregon. I called to inquire about costs, etc.. and found out the NCS usually tries to focus on commercial, or larger space, moves and tries to stick to moves from point A to point B that are generally the same area. I was bummed because my mutual friend had hyped them up so much, but figured I would continue my search as I had given myself some time to figure this out before the big move day. A week later, I got a phone call from the manager at NCS letting me know that one of their employees had family in Oregon and needed to make an unexpected trip up at the end of the month and if the timing worked out, they would be willing to do the job for me. Needless to say, I was THRILLED. Timing couldn't have been any better, I was able to work with the moving company of my choice, and I was feeling the "company love" with the flexibly and respect that they provide their employees with. Not to mention, they didn't try and rip me off by raising the prices! I ended up paying just a little bit more than the initial quote, but did not mind because I knew that NCS was going to follow through and get all of my belonging to Oregon safe and sound. Although I know I was lucky in this situation and that NCS does not always accommodate moves like this one, I will ALWAYS recommend their services - particularly to anyone living in the Bay Area. NCS is timely, productive, efficient, and dedicated to doing their job (and then some!). read more

My move itself went fine, but the packing was a disaster. I scheduled NCS to pack parts of my house (kitchenware, etc.) the day before the move. I got the impression they forgot about the packing when nobody showed up the morning before, so I contacted them, and they sent a couple of guys over. The guys did not bring any boxes and quickly ran out of packing paper. They worked for an hour or two, and then said they had to leave to go to another job and would come back later. I got a call later that day saying they'd come early the next day to finish packing instead. I said fine. They showed up on time the next morning, but again did not have enough packing paper. They couldn't get any of their other guys to bring them paper, so they said they'd just pack my valuables into some boxes without wrapping them. I said no way, and I had to go to OfficeMax to buy packing paper for them. The move itself went fine. The guys were all nice and did not break anything. However, as I was unpacking my kitchen, I found that they had forgotten to pack up two entire cupboards worth of stuff (about 1/3 of my kitchen cupboards). I checked all the other drawers/cupboards in the house and found some other items that had not been packed as well. Good thing my move was only a couple of miles - I had to go back to the old house, unload the cupboards full of kitchen equipment, and drive it up to my new house myself. Honestly, my impression was that these guys just did not have it together. I used to live in New York City and have used moving services on a half dozen occasions. I've never seen movers run out of packing materials before, or forget to pack up half a kitchen. If you're considering moving with them, I'd say avoid a full-service move. read more

Six years after I initially used NCS, I was back with a smaller but trickier move. To make it more interesting, I had to postpone a day because of a family emergency. No matter -- Hamid and Oscar rolled with it, and the next day, George and Charly came and moved some very bulky pieces through some narrow entryways, without scratching or denting anything. They took it on like a puzzle -- if it doesn't fit this way, let's try that way. NCS Movers did a great job on a double move for us. NCS came out on short notice to give us an estimate for the move, told us how many guys and hours it would take and the price was very competitive. They communicated well prior to our move, were careful with our furnishings and worked non-stop until the truck was loaded and ready for the move to our new place. They unloaded and set up our furniture and put everything exactly where we wanted them. They finished the double move by taking everything to storage and kept within budget as promised. I used NCS in Spring of 2014 for a move from Emeryville. It was by far the worst moving experience I've ever had. Our apartment was 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and we had just about everything packed up and moved into our living room (next to the front door) so to make it as easy as possible for the 2 NCS movers. I rented a truck so all we needed was their help moving everything down the elevator into the truck. Pretty simple. I had even gotten up early and already made several trips down so we were making great progress by the time they showed up at 9am. When they arrived, I asked them if we could be ready to go by noon since I had a very long drive to Southern California that day. They said that given the size of the apartment noon should be no problem. The first warning sign was when it took them 30 minutes just to make it up to the apartment for the first time. Over the next hour, they made a total of 1 or 2 trips max to the truck and back. After not seeing one of the movers for more than 20 minutes, I asked where he went. His partner replied he had gone to the grocery store down the street to use the bathroom (even though we had two perfectly fine bathrooms). 15 minutes later, he finally makes it back. The clock did not stop while he was using the restroom. Over the next few hours, the movers kept getting slower and slower. At around noon, when they had initially said we'd be ready to leave, they announce that they are taking a lunch break. I continued to move boxes while they were gone for 20-30 minutes. Again, I was charged for this break. Finally, 2pm roles around and we've finally finished moving the boxes. My wife and I are talking while they are closing up the truck and I ask her how on earth it took so long for the truck to get packed. Turns out she overheard them mention that their afternoon job had been cancelled. It sinks in. These guys have been milking this job to make up for the fact that their afternoon job got cancelled. My biggest mistake was agreeing to an hourly rate with these guys rather than a fixed price. If you are considering using NCS Moving Services, do yourself a favor and get a fixed price or you may get stuck with slow movers like we did. Better yet, find a different moving company with better scruples. read more

These were the SLOWEST movers I ever hired. They showed up in a Ryder rental truck, without a dolly. they picked up every box one at a time and moved it. They did not use the truck ramp, so they moved every box twice. The truck was not big enough for my move, so they had to make 2 trips. Very disappointing. I wrote and complained to the company, and got no response. Do not hire these people. they may be good with office moves, but not for residential moves. the only nice thing I can say is at least the guys were friendly. I've moved this same house hold about 3 times in the past 5 years, and these folks were 2 hours slower than any other company that I used. read more

I was moving household furniture and possessions from Emeryville to Lincoln Ca. Two movers, Saul and Mike, arrived on time and efficiently wrapped and hauled my goods down a flight of stairs without incidents. They worked as a highly professional team, talking great care with my goods while being a blend courteous, serious and humorous. When we arrived at my new location, they place the furniture in the desired locations and storing the remainder in organized manner in the garage. I really appreciate working with Saul and Mike and highly recommend them. In addition, Peter and Hamid were great in setting up the job. I chose NCS because of their communication and responsiveness. We just used NCS to move our entire business to a different location and using NCS was by far the smoothest part of the move. Everyone from NCS was extremely helpful and very communicative throughout the entire process. They dropped of boxes beforehand, showed up on time and busted their butts getting everything loaded in a timely manner - important for a business that remained open during the move. I didn't move far--from one 2-bedroom apartment to another in the same large development complex in Emeryville. They were on time, showed up with the number of guys they promised--and completed the job right on time. Contact was really good. I spoke to Hamid, who was great, gave me his email, confirmed everything and was easy to get on the phone. The move cost was reasonable and came in UNDER the estimate. The guys were friendly, worked solidly without a break, and seemed to handle my stuff professionally. Though I wasn't moving to a new city, I would definitely call these guys if I were. This was the best move I've ever experienced! NCS moved the 3 story, 25 plus room facility that I manage for Children's Hospital in Oakland. Mr Rodriquez was flexible and kind enough to move the facility ON A SUNDAY to accommodate our patients and their families.Additionally, after our new floors were installed, the crew returned first thing in the morning on GOOD FRIDAY to put all of the furniture back in place! For starters, this was a huge help! Mr. Rodriquez sent a crew of 6 to get the job done. His workers were punctual and professional. The NCS crew members were very hard workers, pleasant, and accomodating. They barely stopped for a lunch break.
