I love Junkcat! I choose them because Nick has so many positive reviews here on Yelp. Nick was easy to schedule. He was communicative about his arrival time, when delayed by a citywide marathon. He and his assistant worked quickly and cleanly. I would definitely use them again! In particular, I had no idea that the sofa left behind by a tenant was not going to fit through the apartment door. When Nick and his assistant realized this, Nick got out an electric saw and expertly sawed the sofa into a few large pieces and viola, the sofa is gone. I never would have had the skills or tools to manage getting out that sofa. And of course there were other large items to carry out of the apartment, down the porch steps, into his truck and to the dump. He charged me a flat fee of $250, I think that is their minimum, and it was worth every penny. No fuss, no muss. I had a haul away project for my commercial building on Piedmont Avenue. I called a few places I found on Yelp and some of them were not very responsive. I called Junkcat and sent them photos of the areas and items that needed to be hauled away. They were very quick to respond with estimated pricing and they also could come the same day or the next day. The next day their team came and efficiently moved all the items and discovered even more items and rubbish to remove. The job ended up being a lot larger than what I sent by photos and they fairly made an adjustment to the fees. Overall great work and they were very good about communicating to me about the other things they discovered that needed to be removed. Very happy with Junkcat. I haven't paid Junkcat for services, but I received a free mini-fridge from them that they retrieved from a clear-out. I spent some time talking with Nick and he seems like an incredibly kind, genuine person. Please know that if you're paying for removal services, it will be rehomed (rather than just dumped) if at all possible. Today we were preparing for a move and these guys helped haul tons of stuff we couldn't take on our move cross country. I moved to the Bay Area in 2008. Since then I've had a family of four in a 4-bedroom townhouse, moved through five apartments, and had over 8 different roommates. I've never really had a lot of time to pare down when moving and I've mostly just hauled everything from one place to another. I'm now leaving the Bay and have to get rid of all of the junk I've accumulated. It's essentially a three bedroom apartment and three storage units. It took me three weeks, five hours per night, to sort out what was worth saving. Turns out, not much. I don't even recognize most of it and over half of it is either cheap furniture that won't make the move or stuff that is just not even mine. I filled an entire 12'x16' room with stuff and tagged all of the furniture that needed to go. Called on Sunday. Texted them photos. Got a fantastic quote that was well explained.
