This review is our experience with a hands down best quality moving company located in Concord, CA. Our experience with movers is basically nonexistent. We love the area we live in and have never had any thoughts or reason to move. Now due to some economic circumstances we needed to relocate. The process of finding a quality moving company was not as simple as we thought it would be. We started looking using our local church group by asking if anybody had a good experience with any local moving companies and gathered a list of 2 companies. We then found 3 more companies using the internet and narrowing the field by reading their reviews. The process came down to who had the best recommendation for all the methods we used and Thrifty Moving in Concord was always in the mix. The decision was made to use their service. Our first contact was positive and helpful. We spoke with Cynthia who was one of the owners and offered a quote on the phone. She was very articulate and guided me though the process needed to quote my move. Cynthia, my new moving professional was on the ball. She organized my move using a systematic approach. She helped me with boxes and gave some great advice on packing bulk loose closet items. This was really looking like a breeze of a project. Cynthia assured me if I didn't have it all packed up correctly they would literally wheel in some boxes that were on wheels and pack it up for me. It just doesn't get any better than this. The move was like clockwork. They showed up on time, loaded the truck and had us moved in 4 hours. It was fun to watch them shrink wrap our furniture and wheel the big items around like they were small boxes. Unloading time was just as efficient. They were very careful with our furniture. They really took the time to ask us questions while they were moving our furniture just to let us know they were aware of how valuable this stuff is. The overall cost was exceptional for the work performed and the supervisor of our job (Mark) was very gracious throughout the move. Our family owns and operates a small business in the area and we know the rewards from giving great customer service as this company does. They are truly an exceptional company who gives great customer service and deserves to be recognized as a choice mover in their local community. read more

Word of advice never tell your friends you are moving. Everyone's phones suddenly break or go missing and they'll never pick up. Then return your call after the move with an insincere apology with a side of lame excuse. I get it moving sucks. You always feel like one of those hoarders on the TV show buried alive when packing all your stuff. So not only do you feel like an social outcast with no friends or family to help you, you also feel as if you have a psychological disorder by the sheer amount of stuff you need to pack. My dilemma was that I had to load most of my stuff into a POD and move the essentials into a temporary apartment. Double the move, double the sadness. Fortunately my coworker (who was "busy" during the weekend of the move) recommended Thrifty movers to me. The crew they sent were named John, Jim, Tim, and Christian. Christian the mega ripped dude who seemed to have mastered P90X and was on P91X. Tim really nice guy wearing a pair of 95 air max's (the most comfortable shoes ever created) Jim the master packer. Somehow fit a three bedroom house into a POD. John the ringleader. Got the crew running like a well oiled machine. They came in, helped us pack (we only packed about 60% of our stuff when they arrived), loaded the POD, transported the rest of our stuff to our new place, and unloaded in 6 hours. They seemed to have fun and made what was a stressful situation into a fun time (as much fun as one can have heaving loads of my wife's clothes up and down stairs. I mean seriously honey do you really need 50 pairs of black pants?) I would definitely recommend Thrifty movers ESPECIALLY ask for Christian, Jim, Tim, and John to my friends, family, and random strangers across the street. read more

I found this Company through the Internet then read Yelp reviews. Everyone is correct in their positive reviews. This Company is a must when it comes to moving locally. They are very professional from the person who answers the phone and makes the arrangements to the movers themselves. In my case I talked with Steve who gave me an instant quote and set up my move. If that wasn't enough he called me the day before the move to make sure that the address was correct for the pick up and gave me the time the movers would arrive. On the day of the move he called again in the morning to let me know the truck was 30 minutes out. How much more can you ask from a Company. Very Customer Service orientated! The movers arrived on time and worked very quickly. All paperwork was done upon arrival before moving even started. There were no hidden costs at the end of the move. Very professional. The movers had blankets for mirrors and pictures, wardrobe boxes, and extra tape for boxes that were still in need. They were in and out without delay. The move went very smoothly. No damage to either personal property or the home. They laid out carpet to prevent floor scratches and foot traffic. They were very quick and efficient. I would highly recommend asking for James and Kolbe as movers. They know how to work together and get the job done. The move was done in the time quoted. I paid with a credit card and gave a tip to the movers for their professionalism and customer service (personable and answered all my questions as they proceeded in the move). I really wanted to give them a 7 or 8 rating but yelp is not set up for that. We are doing an out-of-state move so, as Thrifty is a local mover, we only used them for the packing and loading for our PODS. First their salesman, Dan, came to our house and did an inventory of what we would be moving so he could give us an estimate of the packing material (blankets, boxes, etc.) we would need, the size of the PODS we would need and any special items to consider. We scheduled a date and their team showed up right on time with everything they needed and went right to work. They knew what they were doing, they were very efficient and they were careful with everything they handled including our "special" items. I can't believe how much they were able to get into the POD and I have to believe that their efficient loading has saved us the cost scheduling an additional container form PODS. We did have a special item that they had to deal with which is a LARGE wine cooler. It is too tall to just be carried straight into the POD so it required a good bit of maneuvering. Knowing this ahead of time Dan sent an extra man to help with the wine cooler (and didn't charge us extra for that), they took their time to figure it out and made it happen. I doubt that any other mover would have taken this extra effort. My only problem now is how do I get the wine cooler out of the POD unless I have Thrifty send their team up to Oregon. If we were doing a local move we would have Thrifty handle everything. We couldn't be happier with their service. read more

HONEST AND HARD WORKING MOVERS i recently purchased a new home and had the task of moving my 4 bedroom house locally within the Concord,CA. area. After speaking to several moving companies i just could not find one i was comfortable with. I was becoming irritated and upset with the lack of professionalism and exorbitant prices i was being quoted by the companies i called. Luckily i was eventually referred to Thrifty Moving by a neighbor that had used them. They are based in the area and she raved about the service so i called them. I was immediately impressed by their level of professionalism, experience and honesty. They weren't the cheapest company I found but i have some antiques and decent furnishings and i wanted them handled correctly so i hired them. I was absolutely astonished at the quality of this service. The movers were incredibly fast, which was important, because this was a local move being charged by the hour. The way they handled my belongings, making sure everything was totally wrapped and carefully loaded, disassembling and tagging every piece so nothing would be lost, almost brought a tear of relief to my eyes. It was amazing. I'm so happy i found this company, they made this move and my nerves manageable for me and the price came in exactly what they had quoted prior to the move starting! From arranging the initial contract with office staff, to the final item loaded on the truck, the team at Thrifty Moving was absolutely fantastic. They made a potentially stressful situation easy and worry-free. Movers Oscar and Angel were on-point, start to finish. From the moment they arrived on site until the time they drove off, the process took nearly four hours. I mention that because it takes more time than you may anticipate, even when you prep much of the items in advance. They spend *every* minute of that time working hard and quickly, so that you don't have to. They carefully inventory, wrap, move, and store your items - that is a lot of work for two guys. They genuinely care about your items and your well-being during the process; once they started, Oscar and Angel signaled that I could relax - they'd take care of everything.... and they did. It was the easiest move I've experienced. My items are being stored at the Concord location and I am confident that my furniture and art are in good hands. These guys are amazing. I strongly recommend using them. I needed to hire a moving team for my boss's mother in Walnut Creek for a Saturday move. On Thursday, after booking another company, I found out that they were going to charge us starting at the bay Bridge. This didn't seem right to me so I started calling around. I called Thrifty Moving and Dan in the office told me that not only do they start only once they reach the job site, but that it is actually illegal to do otherwise. Dan was very professional and super helpful. He was able to pull together a team on short notice and was very thorough is setting everything up and making sure we had both a realistic and reasonable quote. I felt very comfortable with the whole process. Talking with my boss after the weekend move, she was thrilled with the professionalism and kindness of both the movers that showed up. Here is what she said about the experience "Eric and Jim were very time focused. They took very short breaks were efficient in how they packed. Guys I want to take this opportunity to write a thank you letter to your most professional and friendly employees, Kolb, Rudy and Kyle. I am not just saying it just because they helped to move my home from Walnut Creek to Concord today. My experience with them during the entire moving process was very smooth and comfortable. They all came 15 minutes before time. They asked me to walk them through. They noticed and took care of everything what I had to say in the instruction. They made sure to put extra precautions so nothing gets damage. I found them to be very friendly, intelligent and exceptionally capable in their work. They were very quick. At the same time were making sure carpet, hardwood floors, doors etc. won't get damage or scratch. They are definitely very capable of providing outstanding service. We couldn't have achieved this move this soon without all of their hard work and dedication. They should definitely get bonus. They are truly an asset to the Thrifty Moving. I had to do a short move between apartment (from a second floor to a third floor) and knew some of my furniture was going to be too big and too heavy to handle on my own. Also, a lot of my heavier things are very important to me on a personal level (chair from my grandmother, bookcase, et cetera). The two guys who came (Kolbe and Kody I believe? I wish I'd written the names down now) were incredibly polite, friendly, and QUICK. I told them I wanted to keep it at 3 hours of work, and they did it*. They wrapped everything up nicely, had equipment to keep it safe, and had everything in the truck within an hour, and we were at the new place in no time. I was able to pay via my card. As a young woman who was doing this alone, I never felt uncomfortable or unsafe with them. While one of the two men was rather chatty, they never stopped working: they kept going. I stayed in budget, even with the tip and gas added. I plan on using these guys again the next time I move. *I was able to get my stuff moved within 3 hours because I had moved about half of all my stuff myself. They moved a bedroom set, about eight heavy boxes, my dinning room set, two mirrors, and a very large leather loveseat. They also took down the mirrors and a glass white board for me. read more

If there was a way to give this company more than 5 stars I would give them 100! They are simply the best! We hired Thrify Moving to move my husband's office from Walnut Creek to Pleasant Hill. It was a big job with lots of file cabinets, large desks, etc. They arrived on time, prepared with the correct amount of men and trucks and were professional from start to finish. Nine men worked non-stop for nine hours and it was VERY hot. They work as a team plastic wrapping everything, protecting office walls and floors and moving with a plan so eveything flowed. But, the thing that stood out to me most was how cheerful, polite and helpfull every member of the team was. Not once did anyone loose their cool even when they saw that they would have to hand carry heavy desks and a conference table up two flights of stairs. Even at the end of the job, they cheerfully helped adjust furnishing to be right where we wanted them. Mark, the owner was there all day too and was a help to me even weeks before the job with planning, etc. He always stayed in touch to make sure we were on target for the move. I called a few moving companies and decided on Thrifty moving because of the good reviews I read. They were able to accommodate my date plus their price is all inclusive, no hidden fees. I spoke to Jessica and she was very friendly and eager to help. She explained everything covered by the price, such as: use of closet boxes, plastic and blanket wrapping furniture to prevent damage and to keep the items clean. On the day of my move a crew of 3 arrived. I had only paid for a crew of 2 so the 3rd mover was a bonus! The guys were very professional, polite, and very careful with my boxes and furniture. The move was done in record time and the guys even helped me load and unload a few things in the back of my car. They kept asking if there was anything else and did I need any boxes moved to a different room or different spot. I am very pleased with the moving crew and the company, for their willingness to provide good service, accommodate to my schedule, and for the way they handled my move in a professional and efficient manner. After finding that friends were not available to help me move, I started search the web for help. I checked out handful of movers and decided on Thrifty Moving. Made the call for a quote and booked them on the spot. They had the date I needed and the quote included wardrobe boxes and shrink wrapping in the pricing. Also they were super nice and helpful on the phone. The guys showed up promptly on time, 9:00 am on Saturday morning. They placed down protection in the entryway to protect the floor and got right to work. Amazing to watch these guys work they huffed and puffed for a solid 3 hours loading the truck. These guys worked non-stop. They took very good care of our stuff, and they wrapped all our furniture in moving blankets to keep them safe. We headed to my new place where they once again got down to business. The total move took about six hours and last time when I had my friends move me it took 2 days! The move was worth every dime because these guys were amazing. I'm not planning to move for a long time however when I do I"ll be calling these guys again. read more

Thrifty came through for me in fantastic ways. Steve handled the scheduling of packing up and moving a single family home on an emergency basis. These guys are incredibly good-- fast, accurate, professional. They went the extra mile, even repairing furniture I broke myself in my haste. They arranged my furniture in the new location better than I would have. They told me they must have at least five years experience before being hired by Thrifty, but most of them have way more than that. They have great team-work, and put the customer at ease. There were three separate jobs. The expert packing of fine china and furniture was handled by James, Kolbe and Kevin. The first move was handled by James, Kolbe and Jesse. The second move was handled by James and Jayme. I needed extra time as I was behind schedule with some of my packing. They made their time available, keeping their schedules flexible. Don't stress, choose these guys, your move will be a piece of cake with frosting. There isn't anything they can't handle, they said the word "heavy" doesn't exist in their business. read more

Best move EVER! Colby, Jim, Tommy and Justin make an amazing team. They don't just move contents, they help to move you into, and create your home. Colby has the motivational leadership that created a cohesive team, communicating with one another constantly - it was like watching a ballet. Tommy has an amazing eye - because of him I found a way to set up my sectional couch in my new family room, which is now my favorite room. Jim is a magician - packing everything just so, logically in the truck which made the set up very smooth on the other end, and Justin is the kindest, sincere "can do" person you would ever want on your moving team. If I didn't like my own choice of how I wanted something set up, they would change it for me, and make really good suggestions. They were all respectful, careful, strong, skilled, thorough...and made my move so much less stressful than it would have otherwise been. It doesn't get any better than this. And the best part - they were very conscious of time, and very good at estimating costs so there were no surprises. read more

I usually rent a truck and ask friends to help move. But I realized asking friends to help move was a bit of an imposition so for my last move, I decided to hire professional movers, something which I knew would cost a lot more money. I reached out to Thrifty Moving in Concord and they were able to squeeze me into their schedule despite the last-minute request. They were very clear on process and the communications was good, alleviating some anxiety for us. They reached out the day before the move to inform me of the window for the movers to arrive. They called on the day of the move to inform me of a more precise window and the driver himself called to inform me he was on his way. The movers, TJ and Sion, were efficient and tidy. They wrapped all the items (including the large beds and tables) to protect them. They disassembled the furniture at the origin and reassembled it at the destination. They moved some things from room to room as we requested, no complaints. And most importantly, THEY DID NOT BREAK ANYTHING! Great job. I highly recommend. read more

I cannot recommend Thrifty Moving highly enough! Since our move, I've told all of my family members how we couldn't have moved without these guys. The entire process was smooth and easy, from setting the reservation to delivery of the last item in our new apartment. Their rates were fair and they worked hard to stay within the quoted minimum. Kyle and Alan were careful but also fast and efficient. They asked me for specific details on which items to take from the old apartment and not a single item was damaged. This company has it down. The inclusion of wardrobe boxes makes it so much easier; in the past, we've always had to pack all of our hanging clothes or put them in the car. I would guess that the simple inclusion of wardrobe boxes saved us a collective two hours, if you count time to pack these items and drive them yourself. Thrifty's number one concern and goal is to make the moving process painless, easy, and stress-free; this was evident throughout our move. I will be recommending them to everyone I know. read more

So first of all I rarely write a review. Having said that I couldn't wait because they were soo darn amazing for movers. I was blown away at the Customer Service, professionalism, and the work ethic. Due to job transfers and other situations we have moved 7 tiimes in the last 12 years. From San Ramon to Pleasant Hill, to Lafayette, to Roseville, North Shore Tahoe, back to Pleasant Hill and now Walnut Creek. By far the BEST Movers ever. No 2nd place.. Just a Great crew!! My wife and I tipped $100 and felt bad because each of the 5 guys deserved $100. I would Guarantee this Company. They are the Nordstroms or Wells Fargo in the moving industry. I can't comprehend anyone being disappointed in their service. Mary Lyn, the estimator, arrived exactly on time for the initial appointment; adorable and knowledgeable lady. The people on the phone were a bit curt including Eric but they got things done. Rob was good when the move date arrived, very nice guy. Their Docusign system was not working though; the emails from that system did not reach me; I know Docusign works because I used it throughout the sale of my house with the realtors. They need to figure this part out. Where they did the most shining was with the actual movers, who came in a truck labeled West Coast Moving Systems. Scott, the driver, and his crew of 4 other movers were very punctual, polite and hardworking. They were extremely careful covering both the floor where they were going through and shrink wrapping the furniture with blankets. Both the houses were very well cared for.
