Initially, we had a great experience working with Pyramid movers. They were responsive and professional. They asked for photos of the house, which we provided, and I also sent an inventory list I had uploaded to Unpakt.com for extra clarity. We were quoted $4320 total to pack and move our 3 bedroom house 29 miles, which felt reasonable. We were moving on short notice and were unsure how much we'd be able to pack ourselves, but they were flexible with our plans which was great. We ended up packing our garage and most of the bedroom, which is around 25% of our stuff. Things felt rushed on both days, like they were too small a crew for this job. We didn't think much of it. We were charged $3640 + left $600 in tips, so $4240 total. Unfortunately the crew was not able to fit everything. We had to pack, load and unload 2 more car loads ourselves in the following days. The crew was polite but didn't wear any shoe covers, which brought a lot of dirt into both houses that we had to clean up afterward. This was disappointing but not a big deal. Things really turned south when we started unpacking. We noticed our furniture was also very dirty. Cream colored sofa pieces were almost entirely unwrapped, seemingly left and even dragged across dirt in the truck or outside, we aren't sure. The packing was very inconsistent. Some items were packed with obvious care, and many were packed with what seemed like no consideration. We found multiple pieces of damaged furniture, loose knives, unwrapped glass, leaking cleaning liquids. Things like webcam lenses, our label maker, light bulbs and chef's knives were packed with no wrapping. Soap leaked onto an unsealed solid wood desktop, and one of the crew told us 'its just extra clean now'. We still haven't found the source of the leak. There was even a full sized wardrobe box packed to the brim with the contents of two of our utility closets. The box was so heavy we couldn't move it ourselves, and had to unpack it by cutting it open on the side. We did this urgently once we realized that liquids like hydrogen peroxide and isopropyl alcohol were packed sideways on top of a pile of paper items, electronics, and unwrapped glass jars. Our trash can was full of kitchen items, speakers were packed loosely into pieces of our couch. 2 broken lampshades, suits removed from hangers and squished into boxes. Many of our electronics were packed carelessly - cables cranked to the side, tons of stuff still plugged in and pressing against ports in boxes, even a PC with a glass side panel packed in to a box so small that the box flaps were folded over the top to close it. We also found that a non trivial number of boxes were in the wrong rooms, that many of the boxes packed by the crew were missing labels and in many cases did not cross out our old labels (reused boxes) so things were put in the wrong rooms based on the old labels. Most dissapointingly, we were never told about any of the furniture dirt or damage and some of it was impossible to have not noticed. After telling the team about issues we were seeing, they were very responsive and asked us for all the photos we could send them, and wanted to make things right. We initially asked for a 25% refund, after considering the days we spent cleaning, making trips back to our old house, moving boxes into the right rooms, and the cost of our damaged items. As we continued unpacking and finding more damage, we asked for 30% instead, which would be $1270. Unfortunately the owner wanted to apply this 30% to only the time the crew spent packing, which was $360. We were told they could do $400. This offer was insulting. The cost of our damaged items alone surpassed $400, and the packing was not the only problem. Our furniture and other belongings were damaged, dirtied and misplaced during this move. 8 days after we moved, behind and under 2 layers of boxes, we found a large cooler full of rotting food that we explicitly told the crew had food from our freezer in it. The owner bumped our reimbursement to $550. I have hired movers 5 other times in my life and never had such an awful experience. Seeing all these good reviews I do not know what happened. Do not recommend. Gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the crew were nice, and Tyler in the office was very nice and did his best to help us out. read more

PODS Moving & Storage had recommended Pyramid because the movers were PODS approved - knowing how to pack and unpack a POD. Myself and my family were not as prepared as we had hoped, and the Pyramid movers were very forgiving and helpful. They promptly arrived at our home and worked tirelessly all day, which we appreciated. They did an excellent job at packing and storing the POD. We used them again when we arrived at our new residence to unpack the POD and load everything in the house. The third time we used them was to move a collection of arcade size pinball machines from 400 miles away. They were well prepared for this type of sensitive move. These guys were a no show on our move date even after I confirmed the date, time, and arrival time to start the move (see photo). Even after I received confirmation from Rusty, there was no communication or response from them after I tried multiple times to reach him or someone. Wasted an entire day due to unprofessionalism, unreliability, and lack of communication. The following is my response to the owners comment to my review. Rusty, ...taking a deep breath. Let me address and correct your comments calmly. 1. Due to unforeseen circumstances, your movers NEVER showed up. I know because I was there the whole time moving out. 2. Yes, emergencies happen, I get it. No phone call could have been made to communicate that you weren't able to make it? 3. Your manager misplaced my job? That's not my problem. That's your manager's fault and it's just plain unprofessional. How many other jobs have you guys misplaced? 4. Your business line was out of service? You, your manager or your movers don't have cell phones to contact customers due an unforeseen circumstances or emergencies happening? You didn't seem to have trouble calling +15 times after my review was posted. Hmmmm... 5. Replacement crew showed up? No, they didn't. Again, I was there the whole time. 6. You never tried to call me during the time you were scheduled. You called me after my review was posted. Worst movers ever. During the height of Covid we asked the guys to wear a mask while they were packing our house. Right away they started giving us attitude. They had trouble getting a piece of furniture through the doorway and one of them said "dude I don't give a F$&@ just shove it through I don't care anymore", then he put a hole in our wall. If that wasn't bad enough you threaten to kick my husband's ass. My husband is a 6 foot tall black belt. Well I would've liked to seen that it isn't worth it find someone else ANYONE would be better than these guys. read more

I can only say that it was a fabulous experience and his team of Luis, Carlos, Will & Eli did an amazing job... so professional, caring, courteous and eager to do an expedient job! They met us in Genoa and worked tirelessly to unload our furnishings and belongings (2 - 28ft trucks). They were meticulous in the way they handled our stuff and always eager to put things in just the right place. At the end of the day, they still had to drive back to the Bay Area and it was already after 4PM. You would have thought they'd be in a hurry to get going, but no, Luis walked EVERY room in the house and asked my wife "is everything where you want it? Would you like us to move anything around? Recently did a move from CA to WA and we're so grateful for Pyramid Movers' excellent service!!! Could not have done it without them and if we could give it 10 stars we would! It was the first time we hired a moving company to do a long distance move so we were pretty nervous going into it; we asked for a quote from multiple companies and Pyramid's quote was the most straightforward and reasonable. From the initial call with the owner Rusty to the actual move, everything went super smooth. Could not have asked for a better experience! Our movers Aaron and Cal were simply AMAZING. They came to our apt on Sunday morning and finished loading everything (incl. wrapping up some loose ends for us) within 2 hours!!! (Mind you that we did a local move a year ago with Two Men and a Truck and they had 3 people but still took ~6 hours...) They then met us at our new apt in about 48 hours later and unloaded everything within 3 hours (it took longer cuz our new place required a bit more of a walk for them to go in and we also had some stairs inside). Everything was intact and in its original condition. We'll be lucky if we could find the next moving company half as good as Pyramid. You guys rock! read more

We hired Pyramid Movers through Unpakt and we had a wonderful experience. Jose, Jaime and Carlos showed up at around 2 pm and, after inspecting everything that had to be moved, proceeded to bring everything that was necessary to wrap the furniture that we wanted to move. While Jaime was packing the stuff (he was super careful with everything and double checked that we were ok with the way he wrapped everything), Carlos and Jose were loading boxes in the truck. They were extremely nice through the whole move, and were really careful with all our stuff. Once we got to the new apartment, they unloaded everything quickly and helped us put everything in its corresponding room. As mentioned before, it was a wonderful experience. This will be my 2nd time to have my furniture moved. Their service is always professional, hard working crew, accommodating, and friendly! Never a doubt that there would be an issue with the move. These movers are awesome! They have moving materials such as blankets, plastic wraps to cover and to protect from being damaged. Pricing is very reasonable with labor by the hour and their cost of moving materials to protect your furniture. They truly deserve a huge tip for their excellent customer service! Rusty was my contact person who had helped me with my move. You provide him your contact info and location of where to move from and to. He will then generate an estimated cost for you to review. I'm very satisfied with the outcome of my move. They are quick and handle your items with care! In addition, they even accommodated us with getting our wide cabinet placed inside our bedroom storage area which was not an easy task to do. On, May 14, 2022, arrangements were made through pack & load to have movers come & pack an 8 foot POD. I met Rusty & Alex, who were going to load everything that did not make it into the 16 foot POD. I had a 16ft POD, but the 2 young guys who came to load the POD, were unable to pack the POD adequately. Watching them work, it was evident they were not as skilled as they said. I was told, "The 16 foot POD should use 6 ratchet straps, in the shape of an X to hold everything in place." The youngsters only used two. It's funny that young people think they know everything and will not listen to information from a senior Citizen. Everything that was told to me, I explained several times to them. They did not use the information, to their benefit. I've been worried about my belongings, since it left the property. I won't know the condition til everything is moved into a new house, which I haven't found. That's the reason for the 2nd POD, more money being spent unnecessarily. When the 8ft POD was delivered (on Friday the 13th, you almost feel evil lurking) it looked impossible to load all of my left over belongs in that tiny POD. Also, no one came to load the POD on Friday, as the youngsters had promised. They lied, about scheduling an appointment. I had ask several times, about the appointment. Well, you have not met, Rusty & Alex. They promised to do their best to get everything in the POD. They worked hard & consistent to pack, wrap & move everything. Things were placed where they would fit & every bit of open space, was used. This was all done from 830-1056am, less than three hours. The Lord was on our side, because everything fit. I now have to pay for 2 PODs, which will cost close to $500.00, a month. Many people say, "You get what you pay for. Well, it cost $539.00, for three hours, for the young movers. That's like saying, "Throwing good money after bad workers! Thank You again, Rusty & Alex for a job well done. I was well informed & everything was explained from the beginning to the end. Its been 22 yrs since our last move and finding a moving company seemed so overwhelming. I could not have made a better choice by choosing Pyramid Movers. During the initial consultation I requested some very special, delicate and large items to be moved. Rusty said it could be done. Fast forward to moving day the guys got straight to work loading my 3 bedroom house into 2 trucks. They carefully wrapped my sofa, glass tabletops and delicate/breakable items. (Even the neighbors were amazed at how well things were wrapped). Upon arriving at the new location they unloaded the truck and placed my marked boxes in their appropriate rooms. I was certainly most appreciative of this extra step. As agreed upon for the next day, Rusty and his crew came back with a larger truck to move a few remaining items as well as my very large pieces. Rusty knows what he is doing because they were put on the truck and then placed at the new location carefully with absolutely no damage. Alex and his crew did an amazing job in loading up our Upack. Alex was great at giving me an eta for day of arrival. Once the crew arrived we walked the entire house and Alex explained what they would be doing and got to work right away. The crew was diligent in wrapping/covering all the furniture to protect it. The trailer was loaded all the way to the top, they utilized every inch of the trailer and made sure to strap everything down as they filled it. Best movers ever! Rusty and his crew have now moved me four times -- on the West Coast end of a NYC to SF move, Berkley to Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara to Sausalito, and then Sausalito back to Santa Barbara. Most of these were nerve-wracking long-distance moves, but these guys made it way less stressful. They are super organized and responsible (they wrap everything so carefully), friendly and a pleasure to work with. On all of these moves not one item has ever even gotten dinged! I have some expensive furniture and fragile artwork and electronics and I'm really pretty high maintenance, so I feel very lucky to have such awesome movers. I should add that on top of all that, their pricing is incredibly reasonable -- please tip them well, they deserve it! read more

I used Pyramid to help load a POD at the house I moved out of and unload the same POD a few days later at the house I moved to. They were a recommended vendor on POD's website and didn't let me down. The reservation went smoothly, I got a call prior to the move dates to confirm everything, and the two guys who showed up to do the move were great. Special call out to Jimmy and Fil -- you guys were awesome. Showed up on time. Great attitude. Took good care of our stuff while moving it. Fast work. The owner and movers were friendly and polite and the owner personally made an extra trip to my old place and brought an overlooked item to my new place at no extra charge. Given the special situation surrounding this move this was the only mover out of more than 40 willing to do the job and take pictures throughout the move to show me whether my possessions and the previous place was in the same condition I left it. The reason I'm giving 3 instead of 5 stars though is because I was quoted around $580 and was charged over $1,300 at the end of the job! As expected, all the movers I got estimates from said final costs can't be determined until movers are on site and see what they're dealing with. I provided an exhaustive list of all my items and other details so they could get a fair idea though, so I was shocked when I got the final bill. When all my things arrived, I saw where they gouged me was on excessive wrapping and packing. I appreciate the care they took to protect my things, but moving companies carry insurance for the possibility of damaging items. I appreciate a company's interest in not increasing their insurance rate due to claims being made over accidental damage, but I would've preferred they were just careful and dispense with the additional wrapping and packing to spare me from paying nearly 2.5 times their estimate. As I'm sure they adopted a policy of taking this extra care to avoid the hassle of accidental damage and claims, I think it reasonable to believe they could've provided a more accurate estimate from the list and details I provided them so I could make a more informed choice on which company to hire, or at least take the necessary time to save up for the move. There was very minor damage to one piece of furniture I actually saw happen when they were moving it up stairs. Nothing conspicuous or affecting its function. Fortunately it's only an old, cheap dresser I could easily replace by similar furniture for free, but still worth noting for those with expensive or irreplaceable items. read more
