We were referred to moveauto by the moving company that is transporting our household possessions. The furniture move coordinator assured us that we had nothing to worry about based on the fact that he'd been referring customers to moveauto for several years with no complaints. Here's what I liked: They picked up and delivered the car within the time range specified. At first they wanted us to drive across town to meet the driver in a shopping mall's parking lot. Instead, the driver said he could pick it up from our house. That was a big plus. They delivered the car on time and in good condition. Monica, who coordinated the move, was there to answer questions along the way. There was some confusion over the name of the trucking company that picked up the car (It was LVIV, not moveauto). We had some questions about the timing and logistics surrounding the pick-up, and she resolved them. The drivers were friendly, courteous, and efficient. The price was comparable to alternatives, and we figured it is on a par with what it would have cost us to drive to Denver, taking into account meals, hotel stays, and charging the car. On that particular day, that mattered more than anything else they could have done for me. Another thing that mattered to me was where the items ultimately went. The donations were routed to places where they could actually be used rather than to a landfill, which mattered a great deal to me because those were my mother's belongings and not junk. On top of that, they donate a portion of their profits to breast cancer research and other worthy causes. We scheduled moving services for today with a confirmed 10:00 AM start time. I specifically explained, on a recorded phone call, that we operate a hotel and that the start time was critical to avoid disrupting our guests and daily operations. I explicitly asked whether 10:00 AM was possible, and their representative confirmed that it was. Instead, their movers showed up TWO HOURS EARLY, when we had no staff available to coordinate the work. When I explained that we could not accommodate an earlier start because it would disrupt our hotel operations, I was told that my only options were to pay for the movers to sit around waiting or be charged the full amount. Despite the company failing to honor the agreed-upon appointment time, they proceeded to charge my credit card for the ENTIRE service without completing the work. Absolutely outrageous. I have never experienced such unprofessional and questionable business practices. How can a company confirm an appointment, show up at a completely different time, refuse to honor the original agreement, and then charge a customer in full for services that were never performed? I fully intend to dispute this charge with my credit card company and will be sharing this experience with fellow hospitality professionals and businesses throughout Sonoma County. This is not simply poor customer service. This is a serious failure to honor a confirmed agreement, followed by charging for services that were never provided. BUYER BEWARE.
