1 STAR -- EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH WEST COAST SHIPPING I have never experienced this level of poor customer service from a company that is supposed to handle something as important and expensive as international vehicle shipping. My car arrived in Europe 2-3 months later than promised, which was already completely unacceptable. But the biggest problem was that my car was damaged during the handling/unloading process. I paid for an entire 20-foot container exclusively for my shipment. Despite having an entire container, my vehicle was lifted and positioned in a way that left extremely little clearance around it, while moving boxes were placed underneath the vehicle. The car was apparently resting on/against a metal support/post, and it was damaged as a result. What makes this situation even worse is the way Alex, who is the main person I have been dealing with, has handled the problem. I personally contacted Alex multiple times. I managed to speak with him twice, and both times his response was essentially to blame the people who unloaded the vehicle. I repeatedly asked a simple question: if the vehicle was going to be lifted and positioned with almost no clearance, why wasn't I informed beforehand? If I had known, I would have specifically told them NOT to handle the car that way. There were also other ways the boxes could have been organized inside a container that I paid for exclusively for my shipment. I also purchased insurance specifically for situations like this. I am NOT asking for some outrageous amount of money. I simply want a reasonable resolution that would allow me to repair the damage to my vehicle. Unfortunately, after initially speaking with me, Alex has essentially disappeared. Every time I call, I am told a different story -- he is on vacation, in a meeting, out of the office, unavailable, etc. I have been trying to get this resolved, and instead of taking responsibility and helping a paying customer, I feel like I am being deliberately avoided. The damage is one problem. The way West Coast Shipping has treated me afterward is an even bigger problem. Mistakes can happen in shipping. What matters is how a company responds when something goes wrong. In my experience, West Coast Shipping failed completely in that regard. I paid for professional international shipping, a dedicated container, and insurance. I expected my vehicle to arrive on time and in the condition in which it was delivered to them. Instead, it arrived months late and damaged, and now I cannot even get the company's CEO/main representative, Alex, to properly address the situation. I strongly recommend that anyone considering West Coast Shipping think very carefully and ask exactly how their vehicle will be secured, loaded, lifted, and protected before handing over their car. For me, the worst part isn't even the damage. It's paying a company for a professional service and then being ignored when you need them to stand behind that service. Very disappointing experience. We used West Coast Shipping to ship a large container of furniture, household items and boxes of ceramic tile for our home on NZ. Due to labor strikes- we encountered unavoidable delays. COO Alex Naumov and his supportive team had to stage and re-package on pallets at least two times before our belongings hit the water. Everything was so well packaged, we had NO damage on ANY of our over 110 separate items- most amazingly dozens of boxes of handmade ceramic tile. Delays are inevitable in this process, but their care in packaging our belongings and attention to detail are so appreciated. Many thanks! Used West Coast Shipping to ship our Volvo from San Francisco to Sweden. On the positive side the car got there in one piece and wasn't damaged. Unfortunately that's where it all the positive things end. In order to pick up our car once it got here we had to pay fees upon entry which were equivalent to $600 or so. So while the original price was decent just know you'll have to pay more and this isn't fully disclosed when you agree to use the provider. The worst part about using West Coast Shipping was the actual pick up of the vehicle. My wife took a train for four hours to pickup the vehicle in a different city. When she got there she was told that the car had no gas and wouldn't start. This is a newer luxury vehicle and while I understand the company would remove the gas during shipping I would also expect that they refill enough to get to a gas station. Instead the protocol seems to be that the customer has to pay to get the vehicle towed in order to get it filled up with gas. I contact the company while my wife was stuck in a different city far away unable to figure out a way to get the car home and they didn't even reply. In addition to that the battery was dead and we had to figure out a way to jump it. Well turns out AMG batteries don't like to be discharged for long and so my wife had to get two jump starts to make it home and now we have to replace the entire battery. All in all the two tow incidents costs $250 each + a new battery $300. The "operations manager" still hasn't gotten back to me or even apologized. None of this was mentioned (that we needed to bring our own gas and a new battery and the tools to replace it on site). Had I known I would have been prepared and not sent my wife. She went as she though it would have been a nice excursion only to be very disappointed and stressed out about the ordeal. I have to ship two cars back to the US in the future and would not consider using these guys again. read more

I want to take this opportunity to review this company that shipped my car from Arlington Virginia to a small town in Sweden (Harnosand). It turned out to be a perfect delivery, through a drop-off I requested at a local Subaru dealer, and then how it felt when I drove it home. I will be the first to admit that I was not the easiest of customers, often questioning things that they must take for granted, but the proof of the pudding is that the staff, each in their your own way, participated in getting my car to me with zero damage, indeed exactly as it was turned over, and for that potential customers need to know that they created a very satisfied customer. I hope that they keep on doing what they are doing and please remain aware that customers appreciate the difference between service providers when they choose one.  What may appear fungible to the average eye  -  a ship is a ship and the steps along the way are the same  -  but there is a marked difference between just doing routine work and doing a job that a service provider can be proud of.  Need I say where West Coast Shipping stands along that spectrum?  I think not. read more

I have shipped my car from NY to Ukraine with this company. My account manager was Lena. Finally I did regret so much that I made such a choice. Don't trust to company reviews. The shipping process contains a lot of hidden cost, that are not discussed before. Don't trust to low price of the company. Finally you can pay double or triple price. The company assigned to me its agent at the port of destination. My account manager Lena lied to me that I can change the agent if I would like to do so. In fact, it was not possible. The agent assigned by Lena charges unreasonable fees to make just a change of the agent. Then the agent increased his own fees multiple times after the shipping is made. So I was on a hook and forced to pay without due reason. They threatened, they won't release my car and something will happen to my belongings that were inside of the car. When I asked Lena to help, she let me know that she merely doesn't remember me. That is a standard scam process of the Western Coast Shipping. You bring them a car, pay first low fee and then they forget about you. Later their agent can extort from you fees not discussed before because the car is on a hook. Then western Coast Shipping let's you know they don't remember you. read more

My truck has scratches down the side and arrived with a screw in the tire from their shipping yard. My newborns walker "new" was what was in the cab of truck. I shipped 5 classic cars with WCS and all arrived badly damaged, there are before and after photos of the vehicles it is a clear cut case. They walked all over the roof and trunk of the vehicles, spilled chemicals on the paint, dented panels, smashed windows, ripped interior and more. I had to get a loan to fix the damages and they have been trying to avoid reimbursing me the damages money. I provided all the paperwork they requested but they are very unprofessional and will now not respond to my emails chasing up the situation. It has now been over 6 months and still no money. We recently made the mistake of shipping a car with West Coast Shipping and if you are reading this because you are considering using them as well DO NOT. The entire process was convoluted and the customer service was horrible. Our "dedicated agent" did not take phone calls and if we were lucky would return a missed call with a vague and occasionally incorrect email. We were given quotes and sold a product that were far from what was delivered. As a cherry on top of a ridiculous experience when we went to pick the car up from customs we sat in the office for over an hour waiting for the driver that we were instructed had arrived. When we finally reached an agent with West Coast I was unapologeticly told to "Knock on the back window of his car to see if he was sleeping in the back seat"...he was. I cannot reiterate enough what a mistake it was to select West Coast Shipping and only hope this review prevents others from making the same mistake we did. They damaged several of my vehicles including forklift damage to two (fork right through the tailgate of one truck!) and oil spillage damage to another vehicle, not to mention the worse loading of a container I have ever seen.
