Belfor moved us into the house we moved out of 23 years ago and did a great job. Now, they moved us again into our new home. These movers were awesome and did such a fast and efficient job. They were so patient with us and treated our furniture like it was their furniture. Love these guys! BELFOR MOVERS ROCK!! read more

Belfor moving made my stressful move an easy process. Alex was kind and efficient while getting my details regarding dates and times. I love that they are a family business, and the website photo says it all of father and son. The movers, Edwin and Willfredo, were hard workers and personable as well. Pricing is fair and competitive. I highly recommend Belfor Moving and you will be impressed by the top service received. read more

Probably the best moving company I have ever used. They moved my personal items cross country from Sonoma, CA to Cambridge, MA and then my furniture cross town in Sonoma, CA. Personal, professional, conscientious and reliable. An excellent staff all round. Would recommend them in 1/2 a heartbeat. Very pleasant people. read more

Great customer service. Had someone out for an in-person walk through of everything to be moved. Reasonably priced. Movers were on-site early the day of the move and had everything in my third-story 1-bedroom apartment packed and loaded within a few hours. Delivery driver was timely and communicative. Again showed up early day of delivery and unloaded the truck into the new residence in a very timely manner. Nothing was damaged or lost in transit, everyone I worked with had great attitudes all around. Can't recommend them enough. read more

We used Balfor Moving 11 years ago when we moved to Texas. Best experience ever and we highly recommend them!

I had a great experience with Belfor Moving and National Van Lines and would highly recommend for anyone looking into long distance moves! Especially if you're going from California to Washington (Seattle, Bellevue, etc). I made my initial inquiry to National Van Lines who called me the next day from Chicago. They set up an estimate with Alex at Belfor Moving which was very thorough and easy - taking making 15-20 minutes. Belfor provided me a lot of information with an entire folder of general information/tips about moving that provided me so much useful information and expertise in figuring out how I was going to manage moving from Napa to Seattle while working full time. Craig has been wonderful to work with - answering all of my calls/questions about the process, price, and time frame. My possessions arrived on the day they were scheduled and payment/moving was so much easier than doing it on my own. I would highly recommend working with Belfor Moving! read more

Belfor Moving was recommended by a friend. I received an estimate 2 weeks prior to my move with a certain minimum fee. We agreed to the initial estimate via email. 4 days prior to my moving date the moving company changed the estimate and increased the minimum fee by 50% and was not willing to do either an in-person or virtual walk-thru of the moving locations to re-evaluate the estimate. Not ok for a moving business to increase fees just days prior to the move. read more

Terrible experience. Had a set time. Movers were late, lazy and rude. Looked like they were hired off the streets Time frame wasn't met due to multiple breaks OR POSSIBLY BEING HUNGOVER? Multiple texting breaks from movers apparently. Furniture was damaged blamed on us. No compensation, no remorse. Lazy movers = going over timeframe = customer way overcharged w damaged goods.... Never use them! They did not come out or do a video review of my house and items for a quote. They gave me a quote based on the size of my house then charged me double after everything was packed. They dropped a container and broke an antique marble top from an antique buffet. The crew that unpacked it could not believe how they packed it with a moving blanket and a little cardboard that did not cover the whole piece. It broke into 17 pieces and Craig Belfor demanded that I find someone to glue it back together and said I would never see that it was ever broken. I did that and you need a master masonry to do the work. It cost $3,800 and they paid me $95 for the broken piece. He even admitted that they dropped the container it was in and assumed no responsibility. I had several other pieces that were not even wrapped and got scratched to heck during transport. That was two outdoor dining tables with powder coat that were not wrapped at all and got scratched during transport going down the road from CA to AZ and they paid me $35 for damages on both tables and the cost to re-do the powder coat is $1,100. I had over $5,000 in damage and paid double than the quote and they settled and paid me $264. BEWARE!!!!!! read more

We were very pleased with the the way Belfor performed on our move from a large house outside Petaluma to Elk Grove to be with grandchildren. The movers did an excellent job and there were no problems or anything damaged. The rate was very fair. Enjoyed dealing with owner and son who were very professional and son came out to the house to survey it and had some helpful suggestions on packing. We would highly recommend Belfor for a move based on our how they performed out move. read more

What a great experience with the moving of our very treasured items and furniture. Alex was so supportive and worked very hard on our quote which was updated..(I had to take my table. Right?). All good. The movers, 3 great guys, arrived on time, were very polite and kind. It is really emotional to move! They took such care with our possessions and said that they would even repackage the furniture when they got back to the warehouse. They examined our box packing skills and said they were fine. They boxed our new TV, art work, and furniture. They had a driver that couldn't come but they assured us they were going to get our furniture back home ASAP! This is a family run business that cares. Let's hope Grandma's China makes it home for dinner! Will keep you posted! read more

Now that at least half of the boxes are unpacked I can write to tell you all that Belfor Moving did an amazing job under very difficult circumstances. Craig Belfor was really great at keeping all the moving (pun) parts moving and in the air. I mean, COVID-19, lockdown, etc. His guys did an amazing job both moving our stuff and delivering our stuff. But, to add to the insanity the day before the scheduled move the driver came down with COVID and everything had to be shuffled. With one day less to do the whole job Craig got it going. Then, on the way down the Interstate 5, the new driver got dinged for not resting enough and had to pull off the road for ....36 hours! Craig STILL got the move happening on time with only one overnight delay. I'm telling you this is a great moving company. Do not hesitate to call them. Seriously. read more

I was very happy with Belfor Moving! The movers were prompt and professional. Craig provides a fair estimate and the move ended up coming in under the estimated time so it ended up being a little cheaper. Thank you Belfor and we will use you again on our next move! read more

I have used the Belfor team on two moves now. The first one came because of a recommendation from a friend and Broker in the market. Both moves have been smooth and efficient with very hard working crews that never stopped, even for a lunch break. They took the anxiety out of what could have been stressful. They take care of furniture and skillfully wrapped everything. There was not one item damaged and they moved some very large pieces of furniture. I would highly recommend this company. They also moved us right as the country was shutting down. Very grateful for their services! read more

Working with Craig Belfor was actually the worst experience I have ever had dealing with a moving company in all my life. He is the most unprofessional person I have ever encountered in customer service, or any service for that matter. Moving is stressful no matter what the conditions are, but dealing with this man made my experience traumatizing, beyond stressful. I don't need to write a long drawn out story of woe, or exaggerate any of the events as they happened, stunning and unbelievable as they may be. I simply was defrauded and deceived, and I write this review in the hopes that no one else will be victimized by this man and this company during their process of researching or hiring movers. I was scheduled to move from California to New York, and ship all my belongings, including my vehicle. Craig Belfor came to my home to take inventory and assured me that the whole process would be very precise, and that if there were any issues I should just call him. What turned out was a nightmare I cannot begin to describe- I was told that I had to pay the driver a cashier's check of approximately $6,500 or the driver would not even open the door. The driver took the check, and began unpacking. The parking job was not acceptable to local police, and rather than adjust his parking, he chose to LEAVE with the MONEY and my stuff! I was understandably upset. I had waited two weeks to find that they were only going to make me wait another day, AFTER being paid for their services to complete the move that day. When they unloaded my car it was dented and scratched and the battery was dead. The driver cursed at me, and Craig took his side. I called him in tears, asking for help, and he was nothing short of abusive. He threatened me, yelled at me, and then had the audacity to tell me that he was going to charge me an EXTRA $500 to bring back the rest of my broken and damaged belongings the next day. It was outrageous, and hard to believe, but nothing compares to this: Craig Belfor continued to harass rather than help me, via the phone, and e-mail. He then called my fiance, and the driver, all of whom hung up on him because of his absolutely inappropriate demeanor. He kept demanding more money, and threatened to put all my things in storage. The driver took pity on me and gave me the number of the claims department so that I could make a complaint against Craig Belfor and claim the insurance on all my damaged belongings. I called the number and it had been changed. I called the driver and got no answer. I texted him and he just told me that he quit working for National the day of my move. I paid over $7,000 to be patronized by a crude man who took the money and never delivered on the service. I lost very precious things in the move, and have seemingly no recourse. Forget the car, the damaged irreplaceable belongings, and the unbearable stress, the simple fact is that I have been treated better by people I paid $20. I am still stunned. Calling all good people out there: DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!!!! read more

I booked Craig through some other website, checked out his BBB rating, which is A+, and felt confident to do business with him. I had three other moving companies give quotes. Craig's was the one right in the middle and his many years of experience put me at ease. Craig specific experience: He's a chatty guy, for sure. He didn't take his shoes off, which is a pet peeve of mine, but when I gave him that feedback, he was very polite. His quote was the most reliable of the four moving quotes I got - the others were way under and over what we ended up moving. When I followed up with him, he was quick to call me back. Move specific experience: I had one bottle of expensive tequila that was broken by the packers/movers before it got on the truck. Craig knew about this on moving day, and knew it was the fault of the packers so that is in the process of being fully reimbursed as it happened before it got moved. The packers showed up on time and were like a lean mean efficiency machine. They packed up our 1250 SQ ft apt in 8 hours (we have a LOT of books and breakables). They were polite and I loved that they called me ma'am. The next day, two of the previous day's packers came back to help be part of the four man loading crew. They were on time. The other two were delayed in traffic. I had some issues, due to the location of the apartment, about where the truck could be loaded. It was immensely stressful when my traffic cones were removed by local police officers even though I was paying for all of the meters (it would be nice if Craig could arrange for parking permits with the locality and just build that into the cost - I've had that done when I moved in Vancouver, BC). The movers had a whale of a time moving my big honking couch (every mover has commented on it). But they did it! My load arrived on the first day of the four day window, the guys who unpacked me here in Dallas were immensely thoughtful and polite. I had a small issue with billing with National, where I was told I owed an addition $60 odd dollars. I got that sorted out, as what I was quoted was what I paid and not a penny more, even though I exceeded the quote by about 400 lbs. I don't understand the other reviewers, to be honest. And if you look at them, they are from early 2010. I wouldn't hesitate to use or recommend Craig again. He was honest, his staff were polite and reassuring when all hell was breaking loose and I was stressed out. Thumbs up from me! read more

We used Belfor Moving 5 times between 2008 and now. The first 4 were local in Marin County and they performed excellently. The 5th time was from Marin to San Diego, and the experience was very satisfactory, if not stellar. All was properly packed, transported and delivered. Nothing was broken. Only 2 minor issues: 1) Craig promised us that the packing crew with which we're familiar would be the same on both ends. Not so, the crew lead and driver was the same, but on the San Diego side they had 2 hired guns that never read the label on the boxes and just dropped them wherever they found appropriate. 2) Upon arrival in San Diego, Craig attempted to charge us an extra $300 for some obscure, small print, clause in the "not to exceed" contract. We had to persuade him that, in spit of him being right according to the terms of the contract, we would not regard that as ethical behavior. All in all a very positive experience, especially considering previous experiences with other movers. PS: Craig's recollection of events is not accurate. As soon as Charley told me that there would be a surcharge of $300, and tried to get me to sign for it, I told him I would not sign or pay. Charley then called Craig, and told me that Craig had agreed to waive the $300. I obviously don't know what went on in that phone call. I still think this is a good moving company, given the overall experience. read more

We used National Van Lines and Belfor moving to move from San Jose to the Vancouver area of Washington State. In summary: stay away from Belfor. He is unethical and rude - our experience was similar to Schuyler W.'s and Brian C.'s reviews of Belfor moving. We received a not to exceed bid for moving from Belfor moving based upon his own employee coming to our house and inventorying everything we would move. Our garage was full of boxes and I offered to move boxes away from side shelving so Dave, his employee, could see everything. He said don't worry, I've done a lot of estimates and I'm good at this. I pointed out things he may not have seen - our 700+lb safe, a power miter saw on a stand, the freezer, etc. And I walked him through the house making sure he saw everything, including in closets, and our outdoor furniture and heavy gas grill on our patio. We received their "not to exceed" quote based on Dave's thorough inventory. Five days later Dave tried to raise the price - the quote didn't note any time frame for when we could accept the quote. That should have been the first warning. We then negotiated a date and an updated price (higher than the original quote), which we accepted without complaint. We were selling our house and the buyers took longer to close than expected so we shifted the date out again and got Belfor's agreement to that time frame (about a 5 day window). The movers came. Only 3 movers and one truck driver, who sat in his truck all day and didn't lift a finger to do anything. The 3 movers were great, worked very hard, were polite and worked from 8AM to 9:30 PM (although they had to wait an hour in the morning since the truck was late). We were so happy with the moving crew that we tipped each mover $60 each. (The driver then started chatting us up while he smoked a big, smelly cigar.) We also provided them water, orange juice and some snacks. In the process there were questions about the need for a shuttle. We told Dave, and then the driver, that we were on a narrow road with a narrower driveway and tight turnaround. Dave said the drivers were great, not to worry. The driver said he'd figure it out when he got there. Fair enough. When the truck got to our new address he said he could not drive to our house so a shuttle was needed. The local National mover had a 4-man crew come up to move the goods into the shuttle then unload at our house. This crew also did a good job and we tipped each mover $40 each (they worked 4-5 hours to unload). We also provided this crew water, sodas and snacks. As my wife was talking to Belfor about the shuttle he was rude and condescending and a smart a**. I had spoken to him before and he didn't speak that way to me, ever. I could only assume he was harassing my wife based on her sex. Belfor, however, stated our weight was more than our not to exceed estimate. He sent out a new not-to-exceed estimate with higher prices. We rejected that as that is after the fact. In fact the US DOT states: "Before loading your household goods, and upon mutual agreement between you and your mover, your mover may amend an estimate of charges. Your mover may not amend the estimate after loading the shipment." But he did amend the estimate after loading; after we had signed all 12 sheets of goods. So we complained to US DOT and the BBB's of Northern California (for Belfor) and Chicago (for National). Belfor responded to our BBB complaint with lies, stating we added a roto tiller (we don't even own one), a miter saw (we do own one and I pointed it out to the estimator), and several other outright lies. We are in the process of responding to the BBB regarding his response. In summary, Belfor moving is the type of mover who gives the moving industry a bad reputation. Stay away. UPDATE: Responding to Belfor's response. Belfore writes: "He also changed the destination to a new address further away, and was unable to tell us about the accessibility for a large van." First, the destination never changed. So that's a lie. Second, you can see above that I told them about accessibility problems BEFORE the truck left. That's a second lie. "The movers all arrived ... but [Mark] wanted to move many more items that were not on the contract to which he had agreed." This is not true. Dave, their "experienced estimator" saw everything we had. It was all at our house. Our garage was full of stuff. They under-estimated. That's a third lie. "at the other end there was a shuttle needed, and Mark tried to get out of paying" This is lie number four. We agreed to pay the shuttle fees. It was the extra weight charges we objected to. His last paragraph is all lies. His driver was smoking, not the movers. We tipped all movers, but not the driver. The crew arrived on time but not the moving truck Etc. He lies and is unethical. This is why he loses jobs. It's Karma. read more

Craig and Belfor were absolutely amazing. Professional, prompt and very careful and kind with our stuff. Run away. Worst experience ever. Cannot believe anyone rates Craig Belfor as positive. Belfor Moving is an embarrassment to National Vanlines. I read previous reviews before booking. Sadly, Belfor reviews were better than Suddath and the agent for Atlas. Dave, the sales person was excellent. Very professional and courteous. We exchanged many calls and e-mails. Had everything set up for the team to come the day before and pack. Then come the next day and move us out and load the truck. I had read previous reviews and was worried about the weight issues so I had Dave come out three separate times to review everything in our condo. We felt confident and relaxed. Enter Craig...and a rude DISASTER. Craig called the day before they were supposed to come pack. Went over everything and we were still feeling okay. Then he said see you at 8:00AM tomorrow. I said no...see you at noon tomorrow. He then said they would be there at 8. I explained that Dave and I had communicated that the team would be there from noon to 5 to pack. Then back from 8-3 the next day to finish any packing and load. Craig said he'd call me back and abruptly hung up. He then called back and said that they couldn't do the noon pack. He said he would not have his guys working until midnight and that they had families. I am not even sure where the midnight came into play. This infuriated me though because I work in Hospitality, Hotels, and Events. Things change all the time and we adjust. It's called customer service. I have a family too. Next Craig said he'd send a crew to start at 7:00AM on move day and a 2nd Crew to help so they could get us out by 3...which was our deadline. At 7:30 we called and asked where the crew was. We were told they were 15 minutes out and stuck in traffic. They finally showed up at 8:40AM with their coffees and breakfast. There were only three people. I called and asked when the 2nd crew was coming and was told they weren't coming. Long story short....they finished at 8:00PM...and they were exhausted...and upset because they missed dinner with their families. I had to chuckle a bit and explain that their boss screwed them because he changed the plan. They did work hard and we tipped them each $60.00 and bought them dinner. Because Craig refused to do what Dave sold us we ended up having the worst final night in San Francisco. We had to cancel dinner with our friends, didn't get to check into a 5 star hotel that was gifted to us until midnight, and had to deal with our over tired 4 month old son screaming because we couldn't put him to bed until we cleaned the condo and left. If you can somehow deal with Dave and not let Craig screw everything up you may be okay. Best part....Craig called me a liar when my wife called to complain to him and try to get things moving faster. Luckily I had my e-mail exchanges with Dave saved and documented so I could send to Craig. Never heard anything back. Last item of concern....the truck they showed up in looked like it would break down at any moment. I am glad our things made it from San Francisco to Philadelphia. I will say that Jim, the actual National Vanlines Driver who brought our items from Belfor's warehouse was phenomenal. He was extremely professional, detail oriented, early, and respectful. He and his son had our things unloaded and put together very quickly. Cannot say enough about him. Stay away from Belfor. Terrible Customer Service and cannot deliver on what they promise and arrange. read more

I greatly appreciated how Craig Belfor was able to accommodate my move on such short notice. He was very helpful, kind, and informative. The team that arrived to load everything was courteous and efficient. My only concern was with the timeliness of my furniture arriving and the lack of communication. The move was not able to completed within the time frame allotted. The reason given was the truck experienced a flat tire but I did have to call or email repeatedly to find out when the furniture would arrive. This was a bit challenging as I was attempting to rent a storage unit to keep furniture for my mother's estate. Since this is my only experience with Belfor Moving, I would recommend them with only the caution stated above. read more

Belfor Moving did a great job with our in-town move. They do an on-site quote and check every item of furniture you're moving on their iPad, then print out your estimate, which was very reasonable. Craig Belfor and his staff get 5 stars and we highly recommend them. This is coming from a couple that proceeds with caution in this crazy world. Craig, his lead driver/mover Art and the entire team...all of them... knowledgeable, trustworthy, good people with integrity. Craig is fair, his services affordable and his staff of movers do a quality job. We moved from San Rafael, CA to Greensboro, NC, a big move, and it was a complete success. Craig was prompt, accurate in his estimate and educational. He administrated the changes until the day of the move with a friendly demeanor. The movers were prompt, took the time to disassemble and wrap certain pieces of furniture and reassemble them upon arrival all with a friendly uplifting demeanor. Let's face it. I used Belfor Moving with National Van Lines for a move from San Francisco, CA to Seattle WA. Overall it was a good experience with only a few tense moments. I researched a lot of moving companies and the quote I got from Belfor was in the middle of the price range and seemed fair. I liked Dave when he came to the house to do his estimate. He seemed confident and honest and was a big part of my decision to go with this company. Dave and his brother packed up our apartment themselves on the final day of our pick up window. They went out of their way to fit us in that day and did an excellent job. I do think communication could have been handled better. I was under the impression that I would be kept more in the loop as my moving date approached in terms of pick up window and other arrangements. There was an oversight on my part that led to some problems with the pick up window and resulted in a bit of a confrontation between Craig and myself. Parking permits for the city of San Francisco were also confusing. Dave told me that I needed to get one. But since i had no idea when the movers were coming until the day before they go there it was impossible for me to do so. Luckily the guys brought a small truck and it wasn't and issue but I was nervous about it. One of the more confusing parts of this process was the payment to National. The confirmation paperwork I received informed me I could pay by credit card over the phone on the morning of my delivery. It was possible, although difficult, to do this. I did not receive any information from National about what my final total was and in fact had to instruct them to add the insurance cost that i had selected. I ended up paying exactly what I was quoted, plus the extra insurance, but I have no idea how much my shipment actually weighed and I did not get any sort of receipt from National. The driver who delivered my items had no information for me about this and was not all interested in my payment information. Delivery occurred on only second day of my two week delivery window and I was thrilled about that. Everything arrived in good condition and I have no complaints about how my items were handled. Overall, I would use this company again. Everything was inventoried, loaded, moved, and unloaded on time and with no damage for the price I expected. read more

We recently moved from Novato,CA to Georgetown Texas. We moved our entire house inside and out and also a filled storage space. It was a tremendous endeavor and I am glad it's over :) When Dave Robb came to give us an estimate I was pleasantly surprised at how great the price was. I had gotten two other bids that were both quite a bit higher. Being the skeptic that I am I went on to yelp and read their reviews and thought maybe the price wasn't going to be worth the hassle. I discussed the reviews with Dave and none of the issues in the past seemed to be relevant to our situation. We decided to go with them because of the price and that we liked Dave. What a great choice we made. I contacted Dave throughout our entire packing process sending him texts with pictures asking if certain items should be in boxes or not. He was incredibly patient and helpful. He brought us some packing materials a few times and always have us great packing tips. He checked in frequently and was always friendly and knowledgeable. On the morning of our move 3 movers and the driver showed up not only on time but a bit early. They all had fabulous attitudes and worked hard!! They really wrapped all of our furniture very well and were also careful. It took all day to get everything packed into the truck. Not once did anyone complain and they were all so friendly and helpful. We got our bill the next day and actually came in a tiny bit lower than our original bid. The truck arrived with our belongings on the day promised and again everyone worked really hard all day with great attitudes. I would absolutely recommend Belfor and Dave Robb and thank them for helping us with our move!! read more

I'm kind of shocked to read these reviews as my aunt used Belfor to move cross country in March and was extremely happy with the service. They showed up in the largest semi ever and picked up all of her belongings in Napa, Ca and less then a week later, and exactly on time, arrived in Edinburg, Va with her belongings. The movers even went all the way into Washington D.C. to grab help (other movers) before they unloaded because he only wanted to use people he trusted !! In every way they went above and beyond. D.C. is an hour and a half away. Not one issue. She just gave me their info to recommend to a family friend before I came on Yelp to read these reviews. I'll stick with my aunt's experience and pass her number along. read more

This was a great experience for us. The three men that moved us were the best. A very well organized group. They were on time to the minute and went around with me to make sure they got everything. Then they started to work. They had the old house empty in about 3 hours then met them at the new place. They were done unloading in about 3-4 hours. They took no breaks. It was a warm day too. They were very nice to my wife as she had them move things till she got it right. Craig was great. It was great to meet his son because he used to work with my son at Belfor Moving years ago. Can't say enough about the company as I was worried things might not fall into place date wise. Craig worked it out and it was great. Thanks guys, you are the best. A very good experience for a family that has moved frequently and knows what sets the pros apart from the rest. No damage and everything arranged just where it needed to be. Craig Belfor was able to create the inventory for our move with lightning speed due to his many years of experience and an eye that misses nothing. He gave us a binding estimate for a local move from one 2 bedroom house to another. We were able to schedule our preferred date. The two-man crew, Alex and Kyle, arrived a bit early but did not start the clock until the scheduled time. They got to work immediately. They promptly protected the floors as soon as they had been given the tour of each room, and began to carefully wrap and transport our fragile, bulky, difficult-to-handle antiques to the truck. They were polite and professional the entire time and went beyond our expectations. They offered to stop at a hardware store in order to replace some screws should have been in place before they arrived, and they agreed to disassemble and move a bed to the garage, that was being replaced with the one that they were moving that day. They took genuine pride in their work. The move took 6 hours and they worked very hard. The final cost exceeded the estimate by $60, but we were reminded that the original estimate was binding and that we did not owe more. Due to the outstanding job that exceeded our expectations, we split the difference with them. We would hire them again and highly recommend them. read more

Our move couldn't have gone more smoothly if it were scripted! From the first visit for an estimate, through wardrobe deliveries, packing heavy glass, shelves for us, handling our furniture, and even sending by UPS a box we hadn't noticed until the truck left, everything was terrific! I've heard so many horror stories about movers, and none of them happened to us. Belfor is a booking agent for National Van Lines. The driver hires the labor at the delivery end. The guys here were very professional. When a bed wouldn't fit through the hallway, one of them whipped out his set of wrenches, took the bed apart to move it in, then reassembled it in no time!
