I give then a 3.5 because they were affordable and they did an ok job of responding. Pros: Affordable Checked for updates throughout the move Responsive Cons; They don't tell you pick up date until the day before which, in my opinion isn't enough time to get things sorted. I needed to know at least a week before because I needed to buy flight tickets and I emailed and called and they ignored me until they called me with the pick up date which was a day before. Almost EVERY box was destroyed. I'm talking holes in my boxes. Some even looked opened. Why did you go through my stuff? My precious bed was dirty. I have vacuumed sealed it and it was ripped and dirty. This was the most upsetting because I love my bed. It is my pride and joy and you go and dirty it? I understand things get messed up in moves but coke on, almost every box destroyed and you dirty my mattress?? Well you get what you pay for I guess. read more

I spoke with Amber and requested a copy of their Workers Compensation Policy and a copy of their liability insurance. I was told that nobody asks for this. Well, I am a somebody and need to know that I will not be responsible for an injury incurred by one of their employees. If they do not carry Workers Comp insurance, a Home owner can be held responsible for any and all injuries sustained while that employee is at my premises. Their next excuse was that they only provide this to commercial customers. Their third excuse was that they said they would not be able to get this in time for a next day contract - Employers have these insurance policies on file and it is not necessary to reach out to an insurance company each time it is requested. This is a scanned copy. They went on to tell me they are registered with PUC, BBB and Chamber, however none of this information was relevant to providing proof of insurance. Then they told me to find another mover. That said it all. read more

I was really looking forward to a quick and painless move about a week ago, but it didn't happen. I was actually referred to Adams Moving by one of the reviewers below. I am so glad she had a great experience with them, and totally trusted Adams with an important transition in my business and my life because of their relationship and these awesome reviews. I originally set a move date with Amber via telephone on July 12th -- I had a choice between July 25th and August 10th, because they were so booked. I chose August 10th. She let me know they had a piano to move in the morning, but the move would probably begin around 10 or 11am; she gave me a quote -- I agreed; we were set. I gave my notice to my landlord, agreeing to pay until the 15th for an even last half month of rent. I told my new landlord I was heading in with my stuff on the August 10th. I put in a request for a vacation day at my day job for August 10th. The point is that the moving day Amber and I agreed upon was August 10th. On August 8th, I sent an email to update Adams about some changes to the move (originally there were items in 2 locations, only needed it moved from 1 in the end). No response. As planned, I took the day off on Wednesday, August 10th, to be there for the move. I woke up early because I was excited, but knew the piano thing was happening and I'd be waiting a few hours until anything happened. I waited for 10am...11am... to roll around. No movers. I called at 11am, 12pm, and 1pm. No answers. At 2pm I went to the physical location in Petaluma. No one there. Around 5pm, I received a call from Dick apologizing that it took awhile to get back to me. I explained my frustration with the day, and he explained that they had me on their calendar for an August 17th move. That didn't make any sense. If I had agreed to an August 17th move, I wouldn't have told my old and new landlords that the plan was for the 10th. I would have had to plan to pay 30 days of rent in my old location as opposed to 15. There are many things that contradict an August 17th plan. I'm convinced he was straight up LYING to me. Without any sort of written confirmation or contract on their part, I only have the emails and messages I sent my landlords and friends about an August 10th move (sent on July 12 -- the day I spoke with Amber via telephone). I asked why they had not responded to Monday's confirmation email. Dick told me he "didn't get no email" and that Amber was currently on vacation. A) Did you mean to say "I am sorry, we did not receive your email?" and B) Why isn't there a "head's up, we're on vacation" note on the voicemail or email? I spent all day just trying to get an update and was basically told that the entire situation was my fault. Dick asked me if I still wanted the August 17th move date and I was unable to answer immediately, on the spot. I told him I had to arrange to take another vacation day and talk to my old landlord about paying past the 15th. I told him I would like him to come give me a revised estimate (as I had just made about 8 moving trips with my Prius full to the brim) and he exclaimed, "I don't know if I am comfortable doing that!" He said he was sorry if this was their fault but did not think that it was. So, Dick basically stood me up on my moving day, and wanted me to pay the same price to come the next week and move less objects. This made no sense to me. I said I am happy to find other movers and hung up. Seriously, they were better off just not showing up rather than returning my calls with the defensive attitude. Hire them if you want to, they apparently do great work! I just didn't experience it at all. read more

Scheduled a move for September 30th. Initially, the estimate was $3,000 which was increased by $800. Since this was in line with other estimates wasn't too worried. Received a telephone call on September 24th that since Rosh Hashana was September 30th and October 1st they would have to reschedule. Really? It's a corporate holiday but nobody knows this until 6 days before my move? I would probably not be so angry but Oscar (the glib sales rep) used the exact same words and intonation when he informed me (as he was "embarrassed") that he hadn't known about Rosh Hashanna. I think the company was straight up LYING. My calls were then ignored or attempted panned off ("He'll call you back in 15 minutes"). I was informed I was "unbooked" since I couldn't be accommodated. THEY PICKED THE MOVE DATE. DON'T USE THEM. IF I COULD GIVE THEM LESS THAN 1 STAR I WOULD. read more

When I hired Adams moving I was told they would take pictures of everything, pack all my belongings, and then we were done put all my belongings back. At first it was ok then took a bad turn. I had to change my dates several times because of the construction, in that they accommodated us. But then when putting our belongings back they dumped our things like it was garbage breaking many of them. My husband was so angry he apparently cussed them out. This was supposed to make my life easier through the remodel, the movers made that very difficult. Every time you mention them breaking something they told us oh no it was already broken while that's not true. I won't hire these guys to pack my dogs house. He was so disrespectful to our belongings I can't believe how he treated our stuff my granddaughter was so upset, he broke her dresser and nightstand. A port on the back of my TV. Scratched up numerous pieces. broke glass on posters, even broke a wood chair from my childhood, not to mention putting some big nicks on our brand new painted walls. Then when Dick came back pretty much threatened that if I didn't Pay him we'd go to court, saying well I hope if I see you on the street we can be cordial. Dick Adams didn't care that his guys damaged my property he kept blaming us and so did his movers. Dick Adam didn't even take enough off that I could replace anything, and the more we unpack the more we are still finding broken. He mentioned when I was talking to him that someone had posted a less than stellar review.... that Dick said wasn't true..... Amber in the office was very helpful in terms of getting things scheduled (despite a very short lead time and some complications with the move). Auggie oversaw every aspect of the move itself. Yesterday Augie and Jose showed up right on time, and despite the rain, did a great job moving us. They were very careful to protect our stuff from the rain. We were pretty sure the cost would be higher than the estimate because of being slowed down by the rain, but when all was said and done, we paid exactly the amount Richard had given us on the estimate. Over the years I've moved five times. This is the most positive moving experience I have ever had. The crew showed up on time. They were all clean cut, very friendly and eager to help move some stuff around at the destination. Very careful -- not one item was damaged nor did they bump one wall (even with a large desk which weighed 100 lbs) on a very narrow staircase. Adams Moving did a fantastic job for us at a great price. We had a complicated move - some boxes we packed, others they packed. Most of our stuff went to storage, but some went to an apartment. Then, 5 weeks later, they moved everything into a new house. Their estimate was right on the nose even though they didn't know how much was going into a two-floor apartment. The movers were all friendly and professional. They worked fast and took very good care of our possessions. Nothing damaged or broken.
