I hired Rocky's Moving back in August to move me from Rincon Valley out to Guerneville. After talking with Michael on the phone, and letting him know the details of the move (single bedroom Apt to a two floor townhome), he gave me an estimate and told me his guys will be in contact morning of the move. Chase and Javy came exactly when they said they would and after a quick walk around got to work. Their supervisor, Michael showed up about 20 minutes after they arrived to make sure everything was going smoothly but then was called off to go to another job site 50 minutes away to handle another customers needs. Fortunately for me, the team that was there kicked ass. Both Javy and Chase were courteous, friendly and I never felt uncomfortable with any of the process. Hiring movers can be toss up, but the team that was assigned to my job were great! If you live in Marin or Sonoma County and you arent looking at Rocky's Moving first, you are doing a disservice to yourself and your family! read more

I hired Rocky's Moving about six weeks ago to move my furniture from Novato to a storage facility in Sonoma. What decided me in their favor was not only the many positive reviews, but the fact that the owner courteously and logically addressed the few negative ones. My experience with this local, family-run outfit couldn't have been better. Rocky's son, Michael, showed up to assess what I wanted moved and within a day, he sent a very reasonable quote. On the day of the move, Rocky himself called me to say that the movers were on time and on their way, and the movers themselves, Will and Rich, were courteous and professional in loading and unloading the truckload of furniture. Rocky's is amazing. First off, out of the 7 possible movers only two sent estimators. Rocky's son Michael came out to the house and his quote was substantially less than that of the other company that sent an estimator! So, of course, based in that and their high rating, we chose Rocky's! Then, once finished after an all-day move with 2 trucks and 5 men, the final price was LESS than their original bid!!! The moving team was so nice and helpful, too. We are in our 70's and the move was difficult for us despite our best efforts. On moving day, the guys helped put my clothes in wardrobe boxes, wrapped mirrors and artwork, and were incredibly helpful. The person who came to quote me was friendly and knowledgeable and made it seem like he was going to be on the actual job, and I felt comfortable being alone with him in the house. But he was not on the job the next day, and instead it was some very junior people, like they just hired random people off the street (I was NOT comfortable being the only female in the house with them). Felt like bait and switch. The movers didn't listen to my directions (straight up just ignored me) on keeping the boxes organized during the move, and just jammed everything into my storage unit as if they were in a rush to get lunch. Now I cannot get to anything in my storage unit, and need to hire another moving team to come back and move/stack all the boxes and other items in a way I can actually access them. read more

I had a 30-year old large above-ground hot tub in my backyard that I wanted taken to the dump. I got a VERY high quote from a company who advertises on TV nationally with their area code and phone number as their company name. After I turned down the high quote, I called Rocky's Moving. Rocky's quote was for about half the price that the nationally advertised company had quoted. The team was prompt and organized. Frankly my hot tub was structurally falling apart, but Rocky's team was undaunted. They lifted one side to get it on its side on a pair of dollies. They then strapped it to the dollies and CAREFULLY moved it from the backyard through my narrow side yard out to their truck. Soon my tub was in their truck, ready for the drive to the dump. They were friendly, efficient, affordable, with a can-do attitude. I had never heard of Rocky's during my 40 years in Novato, but they are now in my address book. I strongly recommend them. Rocky's Moving, was a complete TKO! Don't waste your time & $$$ shopping around! I first contacted their office and spoke with Michael son of Rocky the owner. He could not have been more gracious and came to my home where he took much time to assess and give me several options. Even though I gave them less than two weeks notice, they were able to schedule within one week, bringing my stress level way down. I'm convinced that most other moving companies(franchises) would have not been able to tackle a steep drivewaysat both properties. They had to use smaller trucks which meant multiple trips more gas, etc. Their crew of five were the most engaging folks you could want assisting with such a personal operation. They did not complain about the heavy potted plants and boulders. They literally moved to heaven on earth for me, and did more than they or I expected all well staying within the guaranteed price. Needless to say they earned every penny of the tip given to each. Rocky himself was on site nearly the entire time supervising and driving his special old trucks that were rebuilt with significant power to navigate my Steve driveways. I feel lucky to have found this company and their unique local presence and abilities made a very difficult move manageable and we're the kindest, patient, hard-working human beings one could ask for. All brought a positive attitude and a great sense of humor. One worker even endured a severe allergic reaction to one of my cats, working throughout the day with swollen eyes and hives...I am so sorry you had to deal with that, Sean! But like Rocky Balboa once said, "You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. I want to start off by saying the actual moving of things and the logistics were 5 stars. Movers were on time and all items remained intact. They definitely have knowledge of what it takes to do the job. However, the transparency and communication around fees is what lowered the rating. In my consultation I was quoted a certain amount and told that 2 movers (vs 3) would be doing the move, which is what I asked for. When the movers showed up there were 3 altogether. One of them was not really moving any boxes/physical labor or doing any wrapping but was more directing the flow of things and a little organizing. Since two of the movers were really doing the bulk of the work I thought this still counted as 2. As seemed fair when a good amount time of the mover directing the flow appeared to be sitting around while the others worked. Upon completion of everything and when it came time to pay I was told I was being charged for 3 workers when I had originally been quoted for 2 as asked for. There was no communication around the change. To be charged for 3 movers when one of them was not really doing that much, felt like I got swindled when charged the full amount for 3. Had I gone with another competitor company for 3 movers, it would have been significantly less in time and money as the timing of having all three movers doing equal work would have been way less. Due to the lack of transparency, communication, and work ethic/subpar business standards, I'm not sure I would hire again or recommend them. read more

This is my 3rd move with Rocky's (2018, 2020, 2025). Rocky responded to my initial inquiry on Christmas Day, when I assumed I wouldn't hear back until after the holiday. Rocky and his son Michael promptly scheduled a visit to my apartment and new location to assess the job and discuss move dates, then gave me an estimate for the cost within 24 hours. It was a tricky move involving 85 stairs and multiple trips up and down for loading, which they handled with expertise. They ensured that I was satisfied with the placement of my furniture and boxes before leaving for the day. Rocky even provided boxes and wrapping supplies for me to use, as I'd not been able to sure these in advance. While I hope to not be moving again anytime soon, there is no question that I will be using Rocky's Moving again for my next move. I highly recommend Rocky's!!! read more
