    Safely delivered

I was super impressed with the service today. The movers called last night to ask about the stair situation at my house- I sent photos last night so they knew how many people are needed to maneuver my very narrow stairway with a baby grand piano. The movers called 30 minutes before delivery, the delivery was made WITHIN the promised time frame. The guys that showed up are super professional, extremely hard working, and well put together team . I was so impressed with their work ethic and respect for my house and the piano. All the surfaces were protected and they took utmost care not to damage anything . In fact - there's not a single scratch on the walls or the piano. ANAZING! considering they had to deal with such a narrow stairwell. Great job , thank you so much! Highly recommend!!!!

EDIT - This is the second edit for my review, and I'm bringing it up to 5 stars now thanks to their help. After some confusion about pricing for a service (installing a piano dolly on a concert grand) which was scheduled but not performed, I was able to resolve this disagreement with the management team. It was an uncomfortable few days, when I thought I had been treated unfairly, but everyone at Encore hung in there and made sure we resolved the issue. If I could give them a sixth star for being patient with my grumpy pants, I would! I have used Encore to move several instruments, both for professional venues and also for the homes of students and friends. They have been very good about communicating their schedule, which OF COURSE changes throughout the move-day, as they deal with various moves around the Bay Area. I've always appreciated how both the movers on the truck and the office staff have been in constant contact during the day of a move. Best of all they know how to carefully and quickly move a piano. I have seen them manage some daunting stairwells. During COVID times they have been respectful about safety, and stayed masked and distanced during their time working, although I wish they had a policy that required real masks, and didn't allow for ineffective coverings like bandannas and athletic gaiters.

Encore did an amazing job bringing my piano into my condo. This was no small feat with a 6'4" piano weighing in at about 700 pounds. They were incredibly careful with it and took every precaution to get it inside safely. All three movers were polite and courteous. I'm very pleased with the service they provided and would recommend them to others.

Encore's delivery truck hit the cable lines and pulled them, and the awning, off our garage. They have not fixed it after 6 weeks.

Highly unresponsive and unprofessional. They delivered the WRONG piano to our house, and damaged the exterior of our home in the process. While they got us the correct piano in a couple days, and promised to fix the damage to our house, after six weeks they have still done nothing. We hired Encore to move an upright piano from Southern CA to our home in the Bay Area. The movers in Southern CA were professional. The movers in the Bay Area delivered us someone else's piano, and did not bother to check whether their delivery truck's height was greater than the cable and electrical lines connecting our house to the poles across the street. They pulled the cable lines down and pulled the awning of our garage off in the process. PG&E and AT&T had to come to repair the lines. Despite Encore's promises to fix the structure damage, it has not been fixed. Pictures are attached. While one of their managers (Mike) promised to take responsibility for the damage and repair the garage, after six weeks and multiple phone calls to them, we have received no response. Avoid this company if you are looking for a professional, reputable, and quality piano mover.

Dan and Spence helped me out today. Made quick work of my upright that i rented from Peninsula Piano Brokers. In and out, up and down in less than 30 min. Hardest part was probably dealing with the traffic As long as I am in northern California, I'm sticking with these guys.

I was shopping around and looking to buy a brand new Yamaha piano for myself and my child. I did…read moremy research and went to all the official Yamaha dealers listed on Yamaha's website, and Piedmont Piano Company was my final stop. I am very happy with their honesty, friendly service, and the best price I got among all the Yamaha dealers! I purchased a white Yamaha GC1M from them, and we are very happy with our purchase! Shopping Background: Before going throght this process, I have never bought a piano before. I got my aunt's old Yamaha U3 in Taiwan when I was 5, and I have stopped playing piano after entering junior high school. Shopping for pianos at other places: I went to stores in San Jose, San Francisco, San Mateo and more. What shock me was that most of the piano dealers from these stores were so much like car dealers!! Lots of sales talk that made me wonder was I shopping for a car or a musical instrument? I didn't like the impression they gave me even though most of them were pretty friendly. What was different at Piedmont Piano Company: The sales people here were not pushy at all. No artificial sales talk like "you should add this feature!" or "oh this was the best selling model." Just very patient and knowledgeble people. Later on I learned that the sales people at this store DO NOT work by comissions. One of my issues was the model that I originally looked for was not in stock, and the wait time for is ONE YEAR! Other sales at other stores were just trying to convince me to buy something else, but Ross, from this store, was the only person who asked me "what are you going to play while you are waiting for your piano?" Then he offered me a free loaner piano service after he learned that I currently don' have a piano. That gave me an impression that the people here are real piano / music lovers. They don't sell piano like selling cars! (Sorry I have no offense to good car dealers lol Of course there are nice and honest car salesmen out there too. Just in general we know how they are like). Decision: I went home and slept on the ideas. Then I re-arranged my furnitures and found out I have the space to get a bigger piano (which was in stock, no need to wait for a year). I called all the Yamaha dealers that I've visited and ask them for the availability and price. Jim, the owner of Piedmont Piano Company, promtly called all the resources he had and got me a brand new white grand piano!! Best of all, he gave me the BEST price!!! A price that all other dealers cannot beat because they still charge by comission!! I went back to the store the next day, and Ross helped me with all the paperworks & payment. He even gave me a small gift which match my interior perfectly. Arrival of the piano: The delivery was done through a 3rd party that they arranged for me. They were on time and FAST! The piano was professionally delivered and assembled at my house. Whole process was done within 15 min. Buttom line: If you are looking to buy a new Yamaha piano, buy from them. Very good price and great, authentic service!!! My child and I love our new piano!

They had to bring it down an outside double stairway, one stairway very narrow and steep. I have moved this piano three times before, both in New York City and then across the country. I last brought it into my house thirty years ago, and I know the weight and difficulty first hand as the original movers back then showed up with only two men. I had to assemble some neighbors to assist and bring it up the same stairs into the house. There were five of us, all untrained, yet we somehow made it. This time, Jacobsen correctly had the five men as needed, as well as the proper tools and clearly the experience to ensure the safe descent. It was like watching a well choreographed team as they worked together with singular guidance to bring it down to street level without a hitch. If I ever bring in another piano, I know who I'll call on again. Also note that we had to reschedule the job a few times due to wet weather, but they would not risk the move unless they could ensure a safe environment as well as having enough men for the job. While some lighter pianos could be moved with fewer hands, they well knew the size and weight of my piano required five and wouldn't attempt without, nor would they add any risk that might be caused by inclement weather; exactly the right protocols. Hats off to a great company and the team, and much thanks to all.

I contacted Brandon at Firsthand who came highly recommended from a friend, coordinated with him a schedule and he quoted me an extremely reasonable price to move the piano. The day of the move he calls me and says, "I've got good news and bad news" He then explained they had successfully picked up the piano but said he did not feel good about dropping it off at my house because it was in horrible shape and would likely not last or even stay in tune. I had agreed to take the piano, sight unseen and was now saddled with a burden of having someone else's trash. This is when Brandon's exceptional care and customer service shined. He offered to reduce the quoted charge, although I would cover the dump fees BUT he had another used piano from a previous job at their warehouse he offered me for free. He again adjusted the pricing very reasonably for delivery and in the end we had a used but good working piano my daughter is enjoying right now. Brandon turned what was potentially a bad day into a win. Obviously not everyone can be assured to get a free piano but this experience showed that they are genuinely good people who will always get my business in the future when I need moving services. Additionally, they demonstrated exceptional skill in moving large and cumbersome objects such as a piano. Cannot recommend them enough.
