Once again, Yelp does not disappoint. I was generously offered a hand-me-down piano, and only had to worry getting it from Castro Valley to my home. My daughter has been practicing on a borrowed electronic keyboard for more than a year, so this will be a great addition to our home. Maybe Mr. M will even start tickling the ivories again. Pleased to find a local Hayward small business with great reviews, I called A-1. Everything was exactly as I expected after reading the great reviews. Paul quoted me a very reasonable price, scheduled a time, was prompt, courteous and careful. No surprises. read more

Bay Area Piano movers quoted me $455 to move my upright grand from Hayward to Walnut Creek. A-1 Piano movers did it for $155. They were on time, the piano was in great shape. They were even friendly! Definitely recommend. They will be my go-to for piano moving. It's a small family-owned business. His father started the business and he took it over. So together, they've been moving pianos in the Bay Area for over 50 years! I told the owner, Rex, that he should make a website to increase business. He didn't seem super interested. I guess he has enough business just from word of mouth...and hopefully from Yelp. They are excellent! read more

We contacted this business to move a piano from a thrift store in Oakland to our home in Antioch. They gave us a date two days after our purchase date which worked great. Later, Paul gave us an approximate arrival time with a four hour window. He also said he would call when he was 30 minutes away from the delivery point. He kept his word on both points. The communication and punctuality were spot on. The move into the house was effortless. Thanks so much for a hassle-free piano delivery. read more

A-1 Piano Movers has the best price and was quick and professional!! Don't bother with Bay Area Movers. read more

These guys are great in every way! Firstly, they have the best prices around, and I checked- they charged me $155, where other local piano movers quoted upwards of around $275. They were also quick, courteous, and made it look easy! I would most definitely encourage anyone to hire them. read more

I have been using Paul and A-1 Piano Movers for over 12 years now. As a piano teacher and piano technician, I need to have a professional and reliable piano mover to recommend to my students and clients. Paul and A-1 are the very, very best. I highly recommend you call them for any piano move you might have. read more

A-1 Piano Movers returned my call quickly, gave a very reasonable estimate (and was clear upfront that there would be additional charges for any steps), and even fit me into their schedule when they had a cancellation. These guys move pianos all day, every day, and clearly know exactly what they are doing. They work quickly and efficiently, but still carefully. Very happy with the job that they did, and I would hire them again in a heartbeat. FYI, charge was $155 for a smaller upright piano, no stairs on either end of the move. I think they said it would have been $2 per stair extra, but I'm not completely sure. read more

They just delivered a piano to my door about five minutes ago. They were extremely quick, quiet, and were extremely careful with both the piano as well as my house. They arrived and in under five minutes the piano was in place and they were pulling out of my driveway. Great price as well, was expecting much more. read more

I was receiving a friend's piano on a rainy Saturday morning. I was given a window of 10am-2pm. That's it. I don't know how the pick-up went, but it must've been at 10am. These guys showed up to deliver at 11am, a little ragged and no-frills, but totally friendly. They managed the rain and navigated my ripped up walkway with ease. They cautiously moved the bench and piano without any problems. They checked with me about the pets, complimented my little pad and were off. It was easy, it was quick, it was pleasant, it was done. They showed up when they said they would, they did their job well, and they handled the rain with blankets (maybe they have plastic for storms...?) I don't know their charge for mileage, but they charge $2 per stair on both sides. I think the fee for Berkeley to North Oakland was about $140 plus stairs. read more

Service was great and promptly on time when they said they would be. They moved a 5ft baby grand up 3 steep flights of stairs and it was all done within 45 mins. Even spent a little time helping me repair the old piano. Great guys, great service. read more

All packing and moving was done very carefully but also quickly. They worked fast and did not waste time.

After reading the reviews I was still very skeptical about the service. I ended up calling about 4 to 5 different companies and I felt most comfortable with this company. The three guys they sent were on time, very helpful and enjoyable to talk to. We had a lot of heavy (expensive) furniture that they had to move down two flights of stairs, which they took extremely good care of. I only had two pieces of furniture damaged but it was cheap material that was poorly made so I'm no holding that against them. I would definitely recommend them and the next time I move I will be using them again. read more

I just had my baby grand piano delivered by A-1 Piano Movers, now Quality Piano Movers. I was worried about how they were going to transport and put together the piano legs since I had just put in brand new floors. I definitely didn't want them scratched! They did an awesome job , putting down thick padding and carefully assembled the legs and positioned the piano exactly how I wanted it! They were very professional, fast and efficient! I am more than happy with the process and I felt at ease once I saw how quickly and carefully they worked. They were just two average sized guys. You would think they would need more help moving a baby grand but they seem skilled at what they do! I will definitely keep them in mind in the future! read more

I needed my piano moved from San Jose to San Leandro. A-1's quote came in about 15% lower than the other places I called. Two guys showed up on time, were very polite, and moved my baby grand out of the house in about 15 minutes. Invoice was exactly as quoted, no extra fees. Would definitely use them again. read more

These guys are great. I have a very old piano and they have moved the poor old women three times. A1 movers are on time, efficient, kind, and a great price. Thank you so much A-1! read more

I've used A-1 for three moves in the tri-valley. Each time they've done a great job for an excellent price. The movers are always very polite. read more

OUT OF BUSINESS?? After having used A-1 a few years ago and being really happy with the service, I called them again just now and got "Quality Piano Movers" instead. The person I spoke to says that A-1 went out of business a month ago, and that Quality bought A-1's phone number. Would be great to have some confirmation and know if this is the case, but I haven't been able to find details. read more

Just had the Steinway piano moved by Paul and his team. They were prompt, honest, friendly and most importantly knew what they were doing. They make it look easy, but they move the piano very methodically with every step planned. We also needed a referral and Paul was great is recommending someone that can provide the service direct when he could have made some bucks himself. read more

Decided to re-carpet my living room and realized that my baby grand had to be moved in order to get the carpet in. A1 Movers came in, took the baby grand apart and set it sideways in my dining room, the carpet guys came in and laid the carpet, I called A1 Movers back and they came back out and put the baby grand back in the newly carpeted room. Amazing! These guys were professional. On time. Friendly and quick. Love them!! read more

A-1 Piano Movers is reliable and affordable. They moved our upright piano from Fremont to Livermore professionally and efficiently. Paul returned my phone call whenever I left him a message. His crew arrived and drop-off at scheduled time and also called me before they arrived per my request. I am very happy with their service and glad we didn't get over charged by other companies. read more

I chose A-1 from the great Yelp reviews and was not disappointed! They are very affordable, friendly, prompt, and delivered my piano safely. I was very impressed with the professionalism of these guys and plan on hiring them again. read more

We hired Paul and his crew on a number of occasions to move pianos, a harpsichord, and even uncrate a massive concert grand piano that just arrived from overseas. He is efficient: he routes his truck and crew efficiently so that he can be working on more than one move at a time. The result is that his rate is very competitive. An efficiently run business lowers the cost to clients. I would not hesitate to hire them again. Highly recommended. read more

A1 are great to work with. I used few other companies couple years ago and there is no comparison. Reliable, experienced, affordable, friendly. read more

Super quick and easy. It felt like I was paying a lot for the move, but considering the cost of two guys and a truck for an hour and how skillful they were, it was a deal. They just made it look easy. read more

Great piano movers. Paul and his people are very laid back and easy to communicate. Paul calls you back the same day and trustworthy. They picked up and dropped off my baby grand piano in one piece. read more

Paul and his team are terrific. THey moved my baby grand into the garage during our floor refinishing and then moved it right back - flawlessly. I highly recommend them this team for your piano moving needs! read more

I liked their service. They gave us time to clean the piano and even cleaned it themselves on the final destination.

These guys are the best. We got great service, + unbeatable price. We highly recommend them.

Helped moved a piano from one house to another on a Saturday Afternoon. Gave a window for pickup, called 30 minutes before showing up, were on time and very prompt. Pickup and Delivery went perfect. Were very friendly -- Also were the lowest cost of many places I called for quotes. Overall would recommend to all. read more

I would highly recommend Paul and A-1 Piano Movers. They were on time, very careful with the move, examined the piano before moving, laid out blankets on the wooden floor so as not to scratch it, and spent an extra few minutes talking about the piano, its value, etc. Also he moved an existing piano out of the way, and didn't add anything to the original tab, even though we decided to pay him a little extra for that. They are the most reasonably priced in the area, by far. We were very satisfied. read more

These guys brought my piano from a 2nd story house, down a corner staircase and safely into my new home in Castro Valley without a scratch even on the walls. They were very efficient, courteous and professional. Highly recommended. read more

A-1 has moved my 68"x58" grand twice. Both times went really well. I plan to use them again for my next move. They're cash only now.

A-1 Piano Movers was absolutely wonderful! Paul came over with a couple of helpers today, and everything was quick, friendly, and totally affordable. I would highly recommend A-1 Piano Movers to anyone in the area who needs to move a piano. They were great!!! :-) read more

Had a great experience moving my upright piano from Union City to Burlingame. The staff were friendly, professional, on-time, and great to work with. They had a very competitive price and did a great job. Highly recommended! read more

These guys are incredibly efficient and professional. They came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The communications and delivery were exactly as promised. I won't hesitate to call them again for future piano moves. read more

Excellent service. Responsive to inquiry, very reasonable price, fast and easy to work with. Obviously very experienced movers. Would not hesitate them to move another piano. read more

I chose A-1 piano movers because they were the cheapest of 4 movers that I called and also they had good yelp reviews. However, I was disappointed with their work. The movers were not very friendly and they were not very careful when they moved my piano. They hit the piano against the wall when they moved it into the house. Luckily, it did not damage the piano, just took off some paint from the wall. I would definitely not recommend this mover. read more

RUDE UNHAPPY MOVERS WHO WOULD CLEARLY RATHER BE DOING ANYTHING ELSE! I was told I would receive a phone call when they were 30 minutes out; I knew they were here when I saw them on my driveway. I greeted the driver on my driveway, only to be ignored by him. I asked him if he was alone to which he replied, "you have no idea how I wish I was". He was joined by another man who was dressed in dirty jeans and a T-shirt; no introductions, no marking on the truck--if I had been home alone I would have NOT let them in my house. Once in the house the first guy complains to me about how my piano is not a baby grand (even tho it is) and that my piano weighs about 200 pounds more than a baby grand (how can that be?). They get the piano on the dolly as it they are going to try and move it in one piece which is obviously NOT going to fit through my front door. I have to explain to them that the piano movers who delivered the piano brought it in in 5 separate pieces (legs, pedals and body). After more whining and complaining, they disassembled it and moved it onto their truck. To their credit, they were fast and I didn't have to have them in my house for very long. PICK ANOTHER COMPANY. read more
