Brandon and his colleagues at First Hand Piano movers have moved pianos for me a couple times now, and just got my spinnet up 23 stairs safely in about 20 minutes. Highly recommended! read more

I spoke to Brandon several times over the phone as we juggled a few transactions until we finally were able to get our piano of choice. He was super understanding, patient, straightforward with pricing (which many people refused to give up front) and was able to make an expedited pick up and delivery from SF to the east bay. His crew was great. Good, funny guys. Super professional and it's reassuring that I also worked not only with a great company, but also great people. Absolutely needs to be the first choice when looking for a moving company read more

Firsthand Piano Moving - Piano Services Near Me - Oakland, California

Ok, so to adequately reflect how amazing their service was I have to provide a bit of a story. I was connected with someone who was getting rid of a baby grand piano which was perfect timing for my daughter who is taking piano. I contacted Brandon at Firsthand who came highly recommended from a friend, coordinated with him a schedule and he quoted me an extremely reasonable price to move the piano. The day of the move he calls me and says, "I've got good news and bad news" He then explained they had successfully picked up the piano but said he did not feel good about dropping it off at my house because it was in horrible shape and would likely not last or even stay in tune. I had agreed to take the piano, sight unseen and was now saddled with a burden of having someone else's trash. This is when Brandon's exceptional care and customer service shined. He offered to reduce the quoted charge, although I would cover the dump fees BUT he had another used piano from a previous job at their warehouse he offered me for free. He again adjusted the pricing very reasonably for delivery and in the end we had a used but good working piano my daughter is enjoying right now. Brandon turned what was potentially a bad day into a win. Obviously not everyone can be assured to get a free piano but this experience showed that they are genuinely good people who will always get my business in the future when I need moving services. Additionally, they demonstrated exceptional skill in moving large and cumbersome objects such as a piano. Cannot recommend them enough. read more

Brandon and Si were amazing! They got our baby grand out of our old home and into our new home with such amazing professionalism and confidence--if we ever move again, they'll be our first call! They even helped to reposition the piano 3 times to ensure we were happy with placement. That was some above and beyond service! Fast and fair quote. Easy scheduling. On-time pickup and thoughtful about protecting carpets and walls. The movers communicated with each other constantly and effectively to get the piano up a tricky staircase with a landing. It was really impressive to watch. And even more impressive that they were so considerate of everything around them. Friendly and efficient as well. The whole package. Definitely recommend. read more

Brandon and Elliott displayed superhuman strength in their ability to move an extremely heavy antique upright piano down a very narrow, winding 14 step staircase for us. They genuinely are masters of their craft -- I would trust them to move anything! They also have very reasonably rates and are great communicators. read more

Wow. I was super impressed with Brandon and Elliott today. They moved a Baldwin Acrosonic down our 15-step (with 3 turns) front patio steps, getting it safely from the street into our home, with nary a scratch, during the hottest part of the day, on one of the hottest days of the year! I was even more impressed with their composure in the midst of very stressful and heavy maneuvering around tight corners. They knew exactly what they were doing, passing a small dolly back and forth, and they also had rugs ready to lay on the ground and to cover any exterior walls / brick work so that there would be zero chance of damage. (My husband would've been cursing up a storm if he had been involved). They were SO polite as well and communication was great. Don't expect immediate responses to texts though (they are busy!) but every time I spoke or texted with Brandon, the plan was clear and I knew what to expect. Will use them again if I ever need to move another piano! Our kids were thrilled when they got home to see the new instrument (our older son requested piano lessons which is why we got this one ). read more

Brandon was amazing from the first time we spoke on the phone. He immediately set a date and time and provided a quote. My piano is 130 years old and 695 pounds. She sounds beautiful, but she demands to be treated with the utmost care despite her outrageous weight. She couldn't have been in better hands. She's still in tune after the move, didn't get a single scratch in the process, and the stairs, doorways, and walls are also unscathed. Firsthand Piano Moving is the best! read more

Brandon and his team did an amazing job with my very large Yamaha (not a full grand, but no baby either) and a very tricky set of stairs. His team also pulled through for us and helped move up a new king sized bed frame that a delivery service failed to get up to the second floor in our new house... twice. Brandon and Firsthand got it done, no problem. Great communication throughout and amazing moving skills. Pricing was really great too. Highly recommend! read more

Mateo and his crew did a wonderful job moving my piano. They were very careful and very accommodating. At the pick up sight no one was home to direct them, but they were patient and worked with me on the phone to navigate the piano when no one was around. Their prices are more than fair considering their work is in the Bay Area and because it is important that you want experienced piano movers moving such a delicate furniture piece. Firsthand Piano Moving - Brandon & Mateo made sure our new piano was perfectly placed so as not to cover the air-intake vent in our floor! - Piano Services Near Me - Oakland, California

We urgently needed to get our piano moved right in the middle of holiday season (poor planning on our part!) It's really hard trying to find a piano mover who will respond to inquiries in the first place - the ones that did, told me that they could only know their availability the day of, or gave me a sticker price that almost sent me to the ER. Brandon was very communicative as we smoothed out the details, and they were able to come get the piano the day after I called. Brandon and Matteo arrived early for their appointment too (called us ahead of time to give heads up!). During the move, they were quick and efficient and took great care to protect the piano and floors. They had to maneuver a large upright piano up a long staircase and around a tight corner, but they were quite skilled and it proved to be no obstacle. Thank you again, Brandon and Matteo! I would highly recommend their services to anyone looking for professional and efficient piano movers. read more

I now understand how challenging it can be to move a Kimball organ, UNLESS you're working with Matteo & Devon, of Firsthand Piano Moving!! They were melody in motion, extremely professional, and with an economy of communication that is born of excellent teamwork and a lot of experience. They moved my dad's organ up a relatively narrow staircase with 21 stairs, and were able to make it look effortless as they negotiated hallway turns to deliver it into a ready bay window. They were exceedingly careful and didn't bump anything, and were able to accommodate our schedule, updating us as the appointment time neared. If I ever need to move a piano or organ again, I wouldn't consider calling anyone else: ) read more

I had a few larger furniture items that are heavy / awkward & needed a truck to be moved. I appreciated Matteo helping me move these items along with the rest of my belongings even at that busy end of the month time. My moves usually take a trip or two but with his truck & one car, we got it done in one go -- probably the quickest move I've had too! He helped cover a few items that I didn't want damaged, & was very efficient & organized as we loaded/unloaded. I didn't have a piano to move (but if I did, they would be my first call!!). read more

I had recently bought a console piano from a neighbor of mine, and since I didn't trust myself to move it without banging it up, I called up Matteo at Firsthand Piano Moving. They were a joy to work with. They came right on time, and were very friendly from the start. They safely moved the piano through the building and into my apartment, after which they went the extra mile and made some minor repairs on one of the piano legs. I would definitely hire Firsthand Piano again! read more

Matteo was able to squeeze us in for a last minute piano move on a holiday weekend (July 4th), which automatically gets 5 stars in my book :) He was upfront about needing flexibility with time and a longer window because of that, which I appreciated, and was super responsive & communicative on where he was and his ETA. On top of that, he was able to move our studio console upright piano by himself, up our front porch steps and safely into our home -- AFTER a long day of moving!! He was super professional, but also had awesome energy and even offered to help us find a matching bench since we didn't have one. If I could give extra stars I would, we couldn't be happier with his service and would definitely recommend! read more

I hired Firsthand Piano due to their fast and helpful responses via email and strong reviews online. We are really pleased with their work and our interactions with them, every step of the way. First of all, Firsthand shared ideas for selling our old piano. When that didn't work out, I returned to Firsthand to move the piano out, knowing they would protect our house and stairs and they would try again to sell it. Brandon and his assistant did an amazing job and we thoroughly enjoyed watching their well-practiced process. Highly recommended. read more

These guys were so careful and patient moving my precious piano. It was amazing seeing how well they communicated with each other to make sure they were both in complete sync. There were two tiny veneer flaps coming up which they noticed before the move and were extremely careful not to disturb or break. I'm sure other movers wouldn't have even noticed let alone been able to preserve them without breaking throughout the move. They were also very thorough in the final placement asking me if it was EXACTLY where I wanted it despite it being on rubber wheels. read more

Professional, careful about damage to property, and efficient. Completed job quickly. Arrived promptly.

They moved a spintet into the house and took out a huge converted player piano. All of that with 35 stairs each way. That player piano must have weighed about 900 pounds and they got it up without damaging it. Most impressive. Mateo fixed a loose foot pedal on the spinet when they delivered it. Great group. read more

Brandon and his team were outstanding. They were efficient and fast while clearly being very safe. What struck me was their communication style with each other was fluid, having clear codes for exactly what each person was doing at all times to ensure safety both for themselves and the piano. The icing on top was that their rate to move the piano was extremely reasonable, much less than other quotes I received, even with several steps involved! My experience with Firsthand was fantastic. A friend of a friend recommended them to me, and I'm glad I got their recommendation, because what could have been a headache was quick and easy. Matteo was very helpful, friendly, and professional, leading up to and during the move. They moved my upright piano from my basement, up a tricky set of stairs, and around a few corners into another room on the first floor. While I stayed out of their way to let them do their work, I was happy to hear them communicating with each other during each step of the process. Everyone was wearing masks due to COVID-19, and I had no concerns in that regard. I definitely recommend these guys! read more
