Fabulous job, great to work with! My piano needed a lot of work (in my mind) but only took the normal time to get it all Ready for creativity. Thankful! read more

Ruben Jackson has tuned my piano twice, and I have been totally satisfied with the results. I am writing this review shortly after Ruben's second tuning, and my piano sounds much richer and clearer in tone. He also fixed a number of keys that were sticking. Ruben is a good communicator. He is efficient and responsible about scheduling and keeping appointments. It's also easy having Ruben around as he work. He's very focused on the task, and is a friendly and considerate presence. read more

We were looking for our kids' first piano and found Ruben on Craigslist. Skeptical at first and took us a while to decide who to trust and which piano to buy. We have visited several showrooms. Our budget is very limited, so that pretty much eliminated most piano stores considering they have to pay commissions and store rent. Ruben had listed a couple of piano at the time that fits our budget and requirement. He was very nice on the phone and was very eager to provide information, both good and bad. His place was a little bit out of our way but we are glad we came. He explained a lot of the detailed work he has done with the piano and for the price (which is unbelievably reasonable), we also got a year-warranty. We are very happy with our new used piano :-) and is looking forward to enjoying it for the years ahead. read more

Ruben is amazing! He works his magic and made our piano sound as new as can be. He is so thoughtful in his approach. Also, very trustworthy and will give you the honest truth on your situation. He is a wonderful soul, too. Couldn't recommend Jackson Piano Tuning & Service enough! read more

My piano hadn't been tuned for 20 years. It was definitely in need of some TLC. Ruben was very responsive via text (love not having to talk on the phone!) and checked in the morning of the appointment. Now my piano sounds great, and I understand a little more about it's upkeep. The best part- he initially quoted me a higher price given how long it had been since any work was done. But after finishing the job, he charged me the standard price since it hadn't really needed the extra work. Friendly, efficient, and affordable! read more

Excellent experience having our Kawaii upright tuned. Definitely highly recommended and we will certainly use again.

Ruben was recommended to me by a friend after he worked on their Yamaha grand last month, specifically regulation work and tuning. My piano was a little over-due for it's tuning, and after hearing how pleased my friend was with Ruben's work and hearing and playing her piano for myself, I decided to call him to come see what could be done with mine. I agree with the last reviewer's comments on the quality of Ruben's tuning. Ruben also recommended some voicing work while he was here which I agreed to once this was explained to me. The voicing was subtle at first, but became more apparent over the next few days - it has always sounded a bit bright and cold and now it sounds like a different instrument. Thank you Ruben!! read more

A piano was given to my 4 year old daughter a few months back. The piano was old, and definitely needed a tuning. I know very little when it comes to the types of pianos and actual care of. After doing lots of research, I came upon Ruben. Given all of his reviews were good, I was still a little unsure. After one phone call with Ruben, I was fully confident and booked an appointment on the spot. He even gave me helpful hints on how to help preserve the piano's lifespan. Morning of the appointment, he was on time and very professional. He was honest about the current state of the piano and all that he could. He gave me his best recommendation, and I followed his advice. He tuned the piano in a timely fashion, and my daughter couldn't more happy with the way it sounds! He even played a little for her, which made her even more excited about playing her "new" piano! Ruben is the absolute best. He is the go-to guy for all our piano needs! read more

I specifically signed up for YELP to give Ruben a 5 Star review. Ruben was the MOST professional and willing to help with all my questions. It was a delight to meet Ruben and have him be my go to piano tuner. Thanks again Ruben! read more

We inherited a piano that hadn't been tuned in over 30 years. I texted Ruben over the weekend to schedule a tuning. He responded immediately and scheduled me for the following Tuesday. Ruben arrived on time and was very professional. Our piano now sounds so beautiful now, I can't believe the difference!!! Our piano went from dying animal sounds to symphonic masterpiece. We will use Ruben for all of our annual tunings now. I'm so glad to have found him. read more

I called Ruben to tune my Yamaha grand after reading the reviews on Yelp, and I was so glad I did! I've had this piano for 25 years and had many different tuners, and it has never sounded this good. He doesn't just tune every piano exactly the same (yes, there are variations in tuning); he knows how to make your instrument sing. I am really particular about sound, and his tuning is genius. It is great to have someone doing the tuning that approaches it as an artist and not just as something mechanical to fix, although he certainly has those skills as well. read more

I first called Ruben for some advice when we were considering buying a piano. He was immensely helpful and knowledgeable, and he even went into the shop to check out the piano I had my eye on. Buying a used piano can be tricky, and he really made me feel more confident and informed throughout the process. He gave us his approval, and we were lucky to have him come over to give our new piano its first tuning. It sounds fantastic, and we couldn't be happier with our choice (in both pianos and technicians)! read more

I, too, found Ruben on Craigslist. My grand needed some serious tuning, but I was tired of calling the regular big name in SF who always seems to be "doing me a favor" by deigning to show up whenever he pleased, unapologetically, and doing a so-so tuning for a large price. Ruben, on the other hand, was prompt, thorough, reasonable and simpatico. I was blown away by the tuning. The instrument "sings" as it never has before. If you're looking for a magic sound from your instrument, Ruben is your man. read more

Ruben did such a great job tuning this old upright piano, and even spent the time to explain how certain things worked in the piano when we asked about what he did to tune and fix the broken keys. 10/10 recommend his service to all read more

Reuben came to my house this past Thursday and tuned my piano. He showed up on our agreed upon date and time despite the fact that his wife was sick at home while taking care of their two-year-old child. Reuben, of course, did a very good job tuning my upright Yamaha piano. However, this 5-star rating is more the reflection of his dedication and work ethic. Thank you, Reuben. read more

Rubin is awesome! He responds to texts and is super easy to work with. My piano was tuned poorly by a previous tuner and Ruben gave it a full pitch correction that sounds beautiful. I wouldn't go to anyone else. read more

Ruben came over to our house to assess our baby grand that looked worse for wear. It came with the house so we had no history about the piano. He took his time and showed me all the wear, signs of stress, good points and bad points. He paid attention to all the details and easily explained the current, past and likely future state of our piano in a way that was very easy for me to understand. Also he can give you advise how to proceed based on what you want from your piano or depending on what your budget is. I can't imagine finding someone better in the bay. Top notch. read more

Ruben was very friendly and professional. He showed up on time and responded to calls and texts quickly. The piano sounds great!

I've used Jackson Piano Service many times over the last 5 years. Ruben has tuned and serviced crappy old uprights, beautiful 100 year old pianos, and everything in between. He's been able to come on short notice as well which is rare and super helpful. Couldn't recommend this company enough. read more

Looking for service on your piano? Look no further than Jackson Piano. Ruben was able to tune my piano back to that original beautiful sound that it used to have. The piano hadn't been tuned in years. The piano put up a little bit of a fight but Ruben was able to conquer and get the job done. A pleasure to work with and highly recommended! Thanks again Ruben! read more

Cannot say enough good things about Jackson Piano Tuning and Service. Ruben was extremely professional and did an amazing job on our piano! We will definitely be reach out to Ruben again for future tunings! read more

The tops. He was meticulous and methodical. Made our entire house hum with his efforts. Try him, don't think you'll be disappointed.

Ruben was very professional, showed up on-time and was very friendly. We had an unusual repair job, all of our brass was water-damaged and needed removal and buffing. While Ruben was unable to remove all the brass pieces due to unexpected glue, he responded professionally, referred another company that would be able to handle the repair for similar cost, and didn't charge me for the hour of time he spent. read more

We recently got a century-old but new-to-us piano, and needed it to be tuned. Ruben was super responsive in scheduling the appointment, arrived on time, and worked magic on the piano - we thought it sounded good before, and now it sounds amazing! read more

I found Ruben on craigslist when I was looking for a piano for my six year old. We had a great experience with him. He does really nice work on his pianos, and they're affordable (and the price includes delivery). Our piano is great: perfect for the kids to play on, but still has nice sound and action. We're still in touch with Ruben, who now tunes our piano. He's meticulous, thorough, and very responsive. All in all, a great experience. read more

Ruben is great! I called on a Sunday and left a message, and he called back first thing on Monday. He showed up on time and was very friendly and professional.. and did a great job with my piano that had not been tuned for a very very long time! read more

We recently had a death in the family and I went home to help my mom handle the estate, which included a huge piano. Now, I don't know the first thing about pianos (i've always been partial to the tambourine), but I reached out to my piano-loving community to see how the hell to get this beast out of my great-uncles house and over to my moms pad without destroying it in the process. Ruben came highly recommended by a few of my friends, so I gave him and a few of his competitors a call to get a quote. He was the first (and only I should add) who responded, and within a few days the piano was tucked securely in the corner of my mothers home. Ruben also tuned it and replaced some doodads, thingamabobs, and gizmos (industry technical talk for tuning and stuff). I cannot recommend Ruben highly enough. He was super professional, prompt, and friendly. He's also easy on the eyes and has a great sense of humor, so there's that, too. read more

Having not played for about 6 years, I neglected my piano and it was horribly out of tune when I decided to play again. I brought in a tuner who recommended some very expensive work on the strings and hammers. After completing the work, I still had a horribly sounding piano and felt uncomfortable about the service/transaction. I then found Ruben and asked him to tune the piano. He did an outstanding job, and gently pointed out the shoddy (my word - not his) workmanship of the original tuner. I was so appreciative that he took the time to educate me. Ruben was extremely professional with all communications, and absolutely genius with his tuning. I have a beautifully sounding instrument that I can now enjoy. I so wish I'd found him sooner! read more

My Chickering baby grand was overdue for a tuning and Ruben did a wonderful job. The piano is about 70 years old and sounds great, but is approaching the need for more serious refurbishment/repair. Ruben explained various mechanisms and the nature of the repairs they might need; as well as ways of slowing down or preventing more serious problems. I appreciated the education as well as his work. read more

After trying out four different tuners over the past 3 or so years to replace my previous tuner (who had retired), I found Jackson Piano. To say Ruben's tuning was notably better than than the rest would be an understatement. I have a vintage Chickering grand which I love, and though this make is known for it's lack of power in the treble, Ruben's tuning somehow managed to get quite a bit more out of it. He also quickly improved the touch and responsiveness of the keys for a very reasonable fee. I am impressed. read more
