I am so pleased with Local Moves! We had a multi part move between staging and selling our home to being in between homes to ultimately our move in. They stored our items as well. Each member of their team carefully and efficiently moved all our belongings. Communication was clear and prompt. They really make the moving process as smooth as possible. We booked Local Moves LLC to move and install some appliances. They were very nice guys, but caused $700 worth of damage to the top rack of our dishwasher - and that doesn't include a ding in the front that happened during the move. We reached out to the company but they ducked our calls and didn't respond to voicemails. Be careful if you book them for appliance moves. read more

I've used Local Moves now twice and am very happy with their service. I bought a stone buddha at an estate sale that weighs about 800 lbs. (not kidding)! They were able to carefully carry it down the steep steps to my yard -- no small feat! I'm not sure any other movers would have even tried to do it. They also just moved a concrete table and two concrete pillars to my deck. They carefully wrapped the concrete table and delivered it without an issue. I also love that they are a husband-and-wife team and do an excellent job communicating with me about when they will pick up my item and regularly text me about where they are in the move so I know when they will arrive. THANK YOU ANTONIO, EDGAR, AND STEPHANIE!!!!!! **Quick edit for COVID requirements: Both wore masks, were on time ON THE DOT, and abided by all COVID requirements necessary** Being wonder woman, I have never needed a moving company in my life... You can only imagine the kind of heat I'm packin' at this gun show! Anyways, yesterday was the day I packed up my pride and called Local Moved LLC. I called the company yesterday around noon, spoke with Stephanie who is absolutely divine to speak with, I was at work so it was nice to get on and off the phone without pitter patter. She gave me prices, the dates she could do it, asked if I had questions and off we go! I had the contract and the link to pay the deposit ($200.00) in my email within the hour after our phone call. Within my initial contact with them yesterday, my things have been moved from my old house (Windsor) to my new house (SR) within 24 hours and I did not miss a moment of work!! A few things I'd like to highlight: 1. I was able to have one of my roommates open the front door so I did not have to be there. 2. They wrapped my items for me (I had already boxed everything up) such as my bed, my comforter (was folded on my bed), pillows and whatnot. 3. I DID NOT HAVE TO MICRO MANAGE!! 4. Everything put exactly where I mentioned, I did not specify for 4 of my furniture items in which Antonio called and asked me where I'd like them. 5. I opened my home door, said where to put things, and ran to work. YES!!! I left them unattended at my home and I couldn't be more pleased. I had a 1+ bedroom to be moved with the old and new property containing one flight of stairs in house and no room in the driveway for parking which took a total of 4 hours (including drive time); 2 movers, one larggggggeee truck (16'?18'?), wrapping services included @ $600.00 total. (150.00 x 4 hours) If you're still reading this you might be in a similar position that I was in. I had no time, no help, no moving truck, and needed my items at my new house before the end of my old lease with a little extra time for cleaning. This company was amazing to work with, responded to my emails at 11pm last night with my last minute requests, and worked with every obstacle I threw at them without hassle or negative vibes! Rafael and his crew were great! Rafael was communicative and up front about what to expect. The price was very fair and competitive. He arrived with his team on time and we did a quick walk-through before they got started. His team worked fast but were careful and asked questions if they were unsure about anything. And they barely flinched when a neighbors car kept them from being able to pull their truck up to the front of my apartment (they had to haul my stuff about 50 yards across a condo parking lot). This crew is the BEST EVER!! I've never used professional movers before but have heard the horror stories and was admittedly a little worried about the whole process. These guys made it completely painless. Their communication was clear and timely, they showed up when they said they would, they were friendly, careful, super duper fast, reasonably priced and totally capable. They squeezed some oversize pieces of furniture through tight doors and around challenging corners, without compromising their own safety nor damaging either the furniture or the walls. We called Rafael during the busy summer season, and he was able to fit our move in the same week. Not only did he accommodate our tight schedule, but his crew was incredible! They worked quickly, efficiently, and neatly. I needed a short move from Corte Madera to Mill Valley during the Covid-19 shut down. The first thing I was impressed with is the fact that a real person answered the phone. I picked these folks because they were local, but I would use them again for any move regardless of distance. I was the epitome of high maintenance, changing the dates and times at least 4 times. Anytime anyone asks me who they should hire for an upcoming move, I will always tell them to go with Rafael, the owner of Local Moves, and his team. Working in Interior Design, I have hired them for many moves of extremely fragile and valuable furniture/home items and each time, they complete the moves with the utmost care and attentiveness. Not only are they exceptionally mindful of the items they are moving and listen very carefully to our moving instructions, they are all friendly and positive. For example, on one move that took about five or six hours, the crew took a break in the middle for a quick lunch. I had to stay at the location and couldn't get my own lunch until everything was completed; Rafael personally brought me lunch he'd bought for his crew and refused to let me pay for it when I offered. This type of kind and thoughtful gesture will always resonate with me and shows what type of person Rafael is and how he treats his crew. His crew members are professional and friendly and I have had some nice conversations getting to know their backstories. The price that Rafael charges per move will depend on the size of the move/location of the move, but it is much lower than most of the other competitors and you can be assured that it will be done perfectly. Talia, who schedules the moves, is great and easy to talk to. Stephanie, Rafael's wife, also works at the office and, just like Talia, easy to talk to and a lovely person. Rafael, his son and right hand man were fantastic. The communication was great leading up to the move. He said he would arrive at 9:00 and he arrived right at 9:00. He was extremely careful with all of our furniture and boxes. He even moved a piano from the late 1800's. Everything arrived in great shape. He was very flexible with removing some items late and adding many items the day of the move. We filled his truck. He drove in traffic 4 hours from the bay area to Auburn and did not even eat to save time and money. I never saw them take a break. They moved fast and efficiently. When I sent in a request for a written quote (with all detailed information the move provided) the owner replied via email that he is old school, only wanted to speak to me on the phone, THEN he'd give me a quote. I wanted a written quote with an estimate so I could THEN make a determination on who I want to speak to and select. It's poor form to ask for written information on a move, have a person submit it, then respond you will not provided a written quote back. read more

Mike and Brian, the actual movers did an excellent job moving us from a 1 bd condo last week. They were professional, friendly and careful in the move. They had to spend extra time organizing and stacking everything to fit everything into a smaller 16' truck. I forgot to ask what size truck they were planning to use when they were quoting the job. When the move was complete, and the final charges tallied, it was frustrating and very disappointing that Rafael, the owner, argued and said he neither verbally said nor quoted the specific charges we agreed on. I sent him back his email with his quote of charges. Additionally, the start time of 9am was also confirmed both on the phone and via email 3 weeks prior but only after my email the day before the move to reconfirm the movers 9am scheduled arrival time, did Rafael call to say that's not the time he has, that I had changed the time at some point. So instead of 9am, it was going to be a noon scheduled arrival. Luckily we could accommodate this change. Rafael should have just asked if we could change the start time if he knew he had a schedule conflict. I chose Local Moves, to give a smaller, local company a chance. Again, the actual movers were great, but disappointed on how the quoting and scheduling follow up was handled. read more

We needed a reliable team to move a single item of furniture from our downstairs living room, into an upstairs bedroom. This was complicated by a small bedroom doorway and moving a super-heavy sofa bed around in close quarters. Local Moves offered to inspect the sofa and space before confirming they could help. Then made sure all wall furnishings were cleared, the sofa got wrapped up tight and they were careful when negotiating all the tight corners. A spot of problem solving at the end - taking a door off its hinges - and then tidying up after themselves and making sure we were happy with everything. It took 2 hours from the first phone call, to writing them a check (very competitive price too). My situation was different. At the very last minute, less than 12 hours notice, I was frantically calling around to get help with a move. Rafael answered my call late at night and told me he would have someone come out and help me the next day. The following day, my cut off time to have my items at the storage facility unit was even earlier than I had previously mentioned to Rafael. The movers came to the house, worked quickly and carefully to get everything loaded on the truck, went to my second location to load more of my items to the truck and then went on to the final destination .... arriving well before the cut off time.
