Great food and great location! We are big fans of Thai food and while visiting FW recently we decided to stop and sit outside on the patio with our pup and have dinner. The atmosphere is modern and very casual with plenty of seating inside, however, if you enjoy being outside to enjoy the weather and people watch, the patio is a great place for that. Tim our server was excellent and worked hard to care for his section, you could tell he cared about keeping his guests happy. My wife ordered the spicy eggplant which was more on the savory side and the eggplant was prepared and cooked very well, definitely a keeper for the menu and I went with the traditional Drunken noodle lo mein with tofu, which has a sweeter flavor, but not too sweet. We chose to celebrate our anniversary at Nawa this year instead of our usual spot. I'd been wanting to check it out and I'm so glad we finally did!! First, we went on a Saturday evening, expecting a wait. They managed to find us a spot on the patio so +1 for that! I can't speak to the ambience inside as we were seated out front but our seats were nice, we were seated a little close to the table next to us but it was fine overall. Our server (I wish I would have caught his name!) was wonderful, friendly and informative. We chose to start with Thai teas and then ordered 4 appetizers to split. The Fresh Roll, while good, was kind of an afterthought when compared to the other plates. Pork Belly Bao-so good and exactly what we wanted! Lettuce Wraps-again, good flavor and I really liked the sauce. Veggie+Shrimp Tempura-oh my goodness, was this delicious!! I told my husband I could have just ordered that and been more than happy. We have to go back asap to try more of the menu! Lastly, as we were celebrating our anniversary we were given the Fried Banana with ice cream for dessert. We stopped here on a Saturday afternoon. We had to wait until 5pm because they are closed from 2:30 to 5pm. The restaurant is in a cute little area. There's like a courtyard that is shared with other restaurants and above these eateries are apartments. This would be a nice area to have drinks outside in the warmer months. The waiter told us that the city has put some money into revamping this area. Nawa itself is located in one of the end units of the building. They have seating in the front and a side patio. We were also informed that they have a room under the main dining room for private parties. We forgot to look before we left so I don't know much about the area. The decor is cute and happy. Everything looked clean and new. We parked in the garage across the street but the waiter informed us that you can get free parking if you call them and get a code. I wasn't listening that well when he was telling us this little tidbit. You might have to call them and see what the deal is with parking. To start we had drinks and pan seared dumplings. The drinks were tasty. The dumplings were probably my favorite thing that we ordered. Next time I might just get two orders as my meal. So I got the pad Thai palooza. The spicy level was on point but I think it was too sweet. The dish wasn't too bad but I don't think I'll order it again. I like my mung bean noodles without a lot of sauce because the noodles expand when they soak up the sauce. My husband said the pad Thai was great. I took a bite and it was typical good pad Thai. We will have to go again an order something that is not the usual suspects at a Thai restaurant. Most people expect to pay less at an Asian restaurant, well...that won't be the case here. I loved Nawa! The ambiance is gorgeous inside and I loved the low lighting. It was giving higher end restaurant without being crazy expensive. The prices were so fantastic for the quality and quantity of the food! My husband got the fried rice with chicken and beef, it was full of flavor and I think I would get that next time! My Drunken Noodle was also delicious and I got it at spice mild. I am sensitive to spicy food but love it. I could have gone up to medium and been perfectly fine! The fire cracker shrimp I was hoping for a more lightly fried shrimp tossed in the firecracker sauce. However, it still was good how it was served. The shrimp itself just needed more flavor. My original review still stands. Usually Nawa is a solid choice. This visit had some hiccups. The food was as good as ever. 3 in my group ordered the Drunken Lo Mein, each a different heat level. All of them loved it 100%. I chose the Chicken Ginger Lime Salad and was not disappointed. The roasted peanuts and tangy dressing made for a satisfying but lighter dinner. Fresh, well-prepared, and flavorful. My cocktail "of the moment" was really good with it. I can't remember the name! Darn. The snafus at this visit stemmed from our table location and service. We were seated in the basement, which I confess I didn't know existed. It was a little dark, which is fine. It just seemed second-rate. The room is long and narrow with a small wait station and a large tv on the wall. The tv was airing a "chalet in the winter" scene to make the room look bigger. I get that they are cramming as many people into the restaurant as they can, but I greatly prefer sitting in the main dining room areas. One distraction was the radio- it kept cutting in and out mid song. The quiet periods were pretty odd. It didn't help that our table was right under the speaker. Service was slow. With staffing issues being a problem everywhere right now, I can give them a pass. What I can't let slide is that our waitress didn't smile at all, not even once. I don't think she even thanked us for coming in. Maybe she hates the basement too. What didn't help her demeanor was her helper server guy spilling our cocktails on her feet. It happens, no big deal. So. It was a one-cocktail night and we left promptly after finishing our entrees. I'm sure we will give nawa another go, since it's a perennial favorite. The presentation is always spot on. While I crave consistency, I'm not happy about the constant misfires from the staff. My first time here they brought us the wrong entrees, which they fixed.Second time there was an error with the check. Again, a quick fix. Hoping 3rd time would be the charm. However...they never brought the tea we ordered, forgot the bread with an entree and added beef when pork was ordered. We didn't even bother this time. Let me preface by saying this rating is a general review of my experiences here. My last visit was a solid 4 stars instead of 5 but most of the time our experience is excellent. I love the cocktails here. They take time to craft them well. I particularly like the Nawa G&T - not too bold but interesting enough to make you want more at a reasonable price point. We try to taste a different appetizer each time welcome here. So far any with curry have been fabulous. The only one I didn't care for in so far are the lettuce wraps - they are a bit challenging eat without making a mess and sweeter than I would prefer. My husband got the green curry with salmon this time around and it was great. My basil stir fry would have been better if I had ordered it spicier. I don't recall that dish being very sweet in the past but maybe they make it sweeter at lower spice levels. Overall, I like coming here especially on date nights as it is a very intimate setting and not crazy expensive for what you get IMHO. read more

Every time I visit for Fort Wayne, I find myself at Nawa! The service is always excellent and the drinks are delicious. My favorite is the NawaG&T! It has great floral notes and goes down smooth. The atmosphere is a smidge dark, but the amount of space between tables and the upbeat environment make up for the dim lighting. Our dinner started with two women at the front asking who the reservation was under to which they just stared at us for an awkward amount of time and then laughed like there was a professional comedian in their heads. Then we were seated at a table and the waitress was great until she had to be pulled away for most of the night because she had two tables where there were multiple overly intoxicated individuals. My significant other dined here during lunch one afternoon and LOVED the food. He did advise the wait time was a bit long. He decided it was a great place to take the family after an evening walk so we dined in. Upon arrival, we were greeted and advised it'll be a little wait to be seated which wasn't an issue. It's fairly small near the hostess desk so we proceeded to stand near the bar but the hostess advised the children couldn't sit at the bar (which wasn't our intentions to sit them in the high table but to stand near the bar to get out the way) so we moved to the opposite side, no biggie. The interior is very nice and decorated well. We waited about 10-15 mins before being advised we could be seated. As we're walking to the table the hostess advised our waiter wouldn't be at our table for 5 minutes or so because they're busy. Once the waiter did come to the table, he was attentive and nice. It took awhile to get drinks and even longer to get our food once we ordered. The food was great. The Freaky Tiki wasn't so great but the mule was tasty. Overall, I'd recommend this establishment to hire more staff or have more staff on duty. I read some reviews that the wait time was long and we experienced that. The food is AMAZING! I will visit the establishment again but I hope they don't have waiting issues again. The waiting and subpar service initially is why I gave this restaurant a 2 stars. Even though the food is immaculate, the service should have been A LOT better. read more
