We have come to this restaurant for years now and tonight, I have to say I was disappointed in the changes that we experienced in the pricing of my drink. I drink Seagrams 7 and 7 up or sprite, I ordered doubles today, as I have before at this same place. When I received my check, I was taken back they charged me the price of one drink twice per drink, I asked my server if this was a recent change and was told no, this is how they do it there, she went on to say she had two other tables that were upset over this. I get it they can run their business how they want to, however, not telling customers that this is how they charge for a double, upfront, is wrong in my opinion. I have only had this happen to me once at another restaurant and I'm 59 so to say I've been to a lot of restaurants would be an understatement! read more

Disappointing! We just wanted to stop in for a drink and a quick bite to eat while we were out shopping. We were offered a menu with some Sunday specials, but our waitress seemed unaware that they served mimosas which was strange. Then I made the mistake of ordering their lettuce wraps, they didn't fit the description at all. It was more like a salty mound of chicken salad on a piece of lettuce! Run away! Sad excuse for management. They think their customers are stupid. They lie! The food wasn't made per my order. I ordered 1/2 lb boneless chicken wings. I got 3 oz not 8 oz. I got less than 1/4 lb. They tried to tell me the chicken shrunk by 60%. The manager Ashley put me on hold 3 times to talk to a manager then she claimed she was the manager. We've been regular customers of Native Grill for several years, usually going in at least once or twice a month and sometimes more often than that. We always get excellent service; the restaurant is clean and the wait staff friendly and attentive. The food is good and consistent, a plus for someone who doesn't want to have to guess about what to eat. Tonight was a most unfortunate exception. The cushion on my side of the booth -- middle booth on the sidewalk side of the bar -- being broken and making me feel as if I were sitting in a hole was only the beginning. I ordered, as I almost always do, the bacon cheeseburger and I emphatically ordered it rare, because I dislike dried out, tasteless, overcooked cardboard-like burgers. Native Grill is one of the few places I can usually count on to get a nice juicy burger, with plenty of melted cheese on a freshly toasted bun. A couple weeks ago, I had to send my burger back because it was so over-cooked as to be almost inedible, but Rachel, our server, took care of it right away. I don't like to complain, so when my meal arrived tonight, I just went ahead and accepted it, even though it was dry and pretty tasteless. I shouldn't have been so accommodating, because an over-done burger wasn't the only thing wrong with the meal. Instead of a warm, toasted fresh bun, the one I got was dry and cold, and so stale it crumbled when I ate it. This is not at all like what Native Grill usually serves, and it was quite a disappointment. To make matters worse, the french fries were barely room temperature as though they'd been sitting on the side waiting for that burger to cook and some were just plain cold. (And what happened to the delicious seasoned fries Native Grill used to serve? They've been missing the past three or four times we've been in.) I won't leave a one-star review because the service was, as always, excellent, but this was without a doubt the worst meal I've ever had at Native Grill in at least five or six years of regular visits. read more

This is the worst Native I've ever been to. The wait staff is on the verge of idiocy, and the manager (older female) is horrible!!! She knows nothing of customer service. She doesn't even know her own product she's selling/"managing" (lol). I called the corporate office, left a message with my complaint, name, phone number and have never received a return call. This goes to show you how they run their business. I know the original owners from New York, and I'm pretty sure this is why they sold it and re-branded. I hope you are reading this, owners. Terrible service! Online. I was trying to put an order in for delivery and it came up as pick up. Not knowing what had happened I tried to call the store immediately. No one answers their phone, all I got was to leave a message. I left several. No response, no call from them. All I was trying to do was change it to delivery. I was pretty disappointed at the customer service I received during my visit to this location. It was about 6pm when I placed an online curbside pick-up order for their traditional 10-piece wings. Since COVID, I haven't normally left my home, however this week I was not able to have my groceries delivered. As a result, I sought a restaurant that accommodates those who may be more susceptible to the virus. When I arrived to retrieve my order, I waited on the side parking lot as advised on their website for about 5 minutes. Their site also states to give them a call if waiting over a few minutes. I then called to advise I have arrived to retrieve my order and the woman who answered told me to come in to get it. I said to her that the site states due to COVID they follow best practices that include curbside service. She then said "yes but you can come in". Due to the false representation and inconvenient service I received, I asked for the manager's information to inform that their store's advertisement to their customers were not met. She gave me the name Mike and said she didn't know anything else. I called the store manager Mike about my experience in which he advised the reason we did not receive curbside is because the server needed better training and no apology was offered. Unfortunately in addition to the poor service, I was not provided with the correct item I ordered. Certainly, this was not the experience I expected from either the waitress or the manager. Mike (the manager) also stated he did not know or have the name and information for the GM or business executives. We wanted to meet friends for lunch and this was close to where we were going to be. We were impressed with the menu. Other than wings there are lots of other good choices. However, I wanted the wings. There were many choices on the menu for dry rub and traditional wings. My choice was a lemon pepper dry rub. They were delicious. When spoke to manager, we were informed that 'some foods' take longer (his words 'the lettuce wraps take longer', mind u they are a pre made salad over whole pieces of wilted lettuce). We also informed him that everyone received food and have come and gone. He replied that 'though it might visually appear that way, that's not the case'. I genuinely believe that sometimes restaurants get overwhelmed with a large crowd but it's professional to simply acknowledge it, apologize and move on. We were credited a small amount off our check for compensation but clearly, the issue was not resolved. It is important to state that our service was mediocre as well. Horrible service. We have been coming here since around 2008. We sat in the bar area and waited 10 minutes to be greeted and given a menu. After we looked at the menu, it took another 10 minutes to have our order taken. We ordered 20 wings and an appetizer. No food arrived until we had been there for 45 minutes, despite asking for the appetizer to come first. The manager realized we were not happy and came to apologize with a half ass, less than genuine apology. We paid $45 not including a tip for our lunch with sub par service. We have no problem paying the ridiculous increase in prices lately but the service was absolutely atrocious. We left a small tip but in hindsight we should not have left any. We will not be back. I have a gluten intolerance, and they mention NO WHERE on the menu that the wings are breaded (who does that? Why does everything have to be breaded?) So I ended up having to send the wings back. After about 45 minutes of waiting, I just left. My server was sweet, but it shouldn't take that long for one half pound order of NAKED WINGS. That's not a huge demand. It was just me. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. We've had extremely slow service and incorrect orders in the past. It had been a few months since we visited and I hoped things had improved. They haven't. Placed order through app. Selected 5:30 pickup time instead of ASAP just to be more certain of an on-time pickup. Order didn't come out until 6:00. Unbelievable. Brought the order home to the hungry family just to find out they'd shorted us 10 wings out of the 60 ordered. With the 60 wing order came 3 sad little pieces of celery. And just 2 containers of ranch. Not to mention the Caesar salad we ordered came without dressing. The restaurant always has decent food for the price. Why they can't figure out how to provide good customer service and just a shred of quality control is a mystery to me given the fact they've been around a long time in multiple locations. We won't be back again. I feel stupid for giving them another try after multiple screw ups in the past. And I feel especially stupid for adding a tip on the mobile order. I wanted to welcome Vanessa the new GM at this location. I have enjoyed this location for many years. I did have a couple of issues this visit but I will only address one. A server had accidentally spilled salad dressing all over my purse, shoes, pants and shirt. The server did apologize. We all know mistakes happen and I would like to reassure the server she didn't do anything wrong. The server could only apologize for what happened but Vanessa the GM apologized and offered to compensate me for the inconvenience. The GM made it right. It was very busy that night but I really appreciate Vanessa's body language and kind words to reassure me her main concern was to make it right with the customer and she did. The worst Native Wings! I have worked/dined in at least 10 locations and this location is a shameful joke. Assume a 40 min wait for a table let alone a response from the server/host/runner/sherpa who is doing their best with no support. The owner clearly understaffs, undertrains and sees this as an offshore tax write-off. There are no standards or oversight. We contractors who work with this site are uniform in our disgust. I was enjoying my Caesar salad when I notice a lady bug in my salad! I almost put the bite in my mouth but luckily looked down and noticed it nestled within the lettuce. In person and with delivery, this Native restaurant never lets me down. Delivery of wings, Native always separates the sauce from the wings, which is very much appreciated and this keeps the wings from getting too soggy. Had enjoyed going here but had a horrible experience today. The bartender (brunette with glasses) was so rude, we left. We asked for drinks and it took 15 minutes. Then we asked for a box to go and she didn't bring it. We asked a second time nicely and she copped an attitude and acted ticked off. She then cleaned the bar top and missed some salad dressing still laying there. My wife kindly pointed it out because she could see it better in the light. The bartender snapped, stared down my wife and said, "I'm not done yet!!!" So rude. There's plenty of competition and options. Don't need to put up with unprofessional and rude attitudes. We eat out all the time, so I am not a picky person but expect to get good service', good food and when ask to see a manager, they come over. We had none of this and the food was not worth a try in my opinion many other options out there. I have been to this location many many times over a period of years. I usually will go to get drinks and food before catching a movie next door. Sometimes we sat on the patio, sometimes the bar and a couple times in the dining room. I have never had any issues. We've ordered a vast array of menu items and can't say I remember anything other than decent bar food and service. Today, Sunday, my husband and I sat at the bar around 8pm. There were only a handful of people at that time. We ordered apps and food as well as drinks. Food was quick, hot and good. Ok I'll start this by saying the manager was great and I did receive a full refund for my order, which is the only reason for the second star. Now I'll explain why I'll never eat at any Native again. First a little background...I'm an Arizona native. I've been enjoying the wings since I was five. Back when it was still called Native New Yorker, they only had one location in a small strip mall in Tempe, every table got a basket of saltines and cheese spread (damn I miss that!) and best of all, they had 10 cent wings! It was the Valley's go-to wing place my entire childhood and most of my adult life. You could accurately credit them for single handedly introducing Buffalo Wings to our spicy little stat. Sadly, they went all corporate, started franchising and changed their name about 7-10 yrs ago and I haven't had a decent meal there since. Like the dummy I am, I keep giving it a chance and quickly remember why I always say I'll never eat there again. Every. Single. Time. Cue my latest (and decidedly last!) experience: My to go order consisted of two orders of fries and three pounds of boneless wings. Side note: I personally prefer bone-in but at almost $1.50 a wing, and since I'm not a doctor, lawyer or Vice President of anything, I went with the boneless. I drive to the location and the hostess hands me my order. On the way to the car I think, "This bag feels a bit light..." so, given my previous experiences of NEVER getting my orders right, I proceed to check the order. Sure enough, it's missing one of the boxes of wings. I hadn't left yet so, no harm no foul, right? I walk back in and let them know about the missing box. To their credit, the entire staff was extremely nice and courteous. About ten minutes later, they bring me the wings and I head home, still with this nagging feeling that order is light. By the time I get home, the OCD in me has finally taken over and I decide to throw the wings on the food scale. Yes I have a food scale. No, I don't use it to weigh out dime bags but I do cook/bake a lot so it just makes sense to have one. Stop judging me. Aaaanyway, here are the results: (and I'm not exaggerating) Full "pound" of medium boneless wings - 10 oz. (That's with the sauce!) Full "pound" of chicken and waffles boneless wings - 10 oz. Half "pound" of honey BBQ boneless wings - 3 oz. Seriously! Not even a quarter of a friggin pound! Half "pound" of salt and vinegar boneless wings - 4 ¼ oz. Not to mention, the two orders of fries were cold and soggy. The cherry on top of all this was that the wings were so dry and flavorless, we ended up throwing half of them in the trash and made some quesadillas instead. Like I said, I received a full refund for my order so it is what it is, but take my advice: save yourself the money/frustration and go to the Cogburn's on Power and Ray instead. It's more of a drive but they have way better wings and they're cheaper. Funny enough, there used to be a Native location right across the street from Cogburn's and it closed down a few years ago, so you do the math. Ok I'm done.
