I liked the fast, somewhat cheerful service and the spacious dining area with plenty of TVs and background music. The steak and chicken fajitas ($15.99 after $3.00 Tuesday discount) were served about 14 minutes after we ordered at the bar on a busy night during a music bingo event. The fajitas had plenty of hot, perfectly cooked meat on plenty of fajita veggies with toppings and three tortillas. I found the happy hour drink prices to be just competitive. Several Saturdays ago my wife and I went over to Uncle Bears on Baseline road in Mesa. We live close so we decided to give Uncle Bears another try. They used to make the best BLT around but the last several times we have gone I have been very disappointed. The current price for there BLTA is now 16.95 which includes frys. When my sandwich came it was on Texas Toast. when I opened it up to my surprise it had 4 strips of bacon, 2 thin slices of tomato and a thin piece of lettuce. This is not an acceptable sandwich for the price. I mentioned this to our server and she agreed with me. The cost of this sandwich was $2.00 at best. For 16.95 you should get a fully loaded BLT. OMG YES! If anybody asks you to go to this location, that should be your answer. This place is amazing! They cater to the canine lovers and the canines! They are also 100% veteran friendly with hosting vet meet ups! The walls are covered in dog pictures which is great for dog lovers! The beer selection is amazing and available on the untapped app. I had the Louies Pastrami Burger. This was amazing with flavor and size and overall just a great thing. The downside was that there was so much food I should have stopped and took half of it home but it tasted so good. It kills me to write this bad review for a small business that represents so many things I respect- not only are they a long term small business with multiple locations in the valley they are active in philanthropy. These things being said, their values can not counter the poor dining experience. This is my first time in since finding out I need to be gluten free about 10 yrs ago. But we used to go to the location in Ahwutukee many years ago. We came in and I requested a GF friendly menu. There is not one. So, I had to navigate based off of my own knowledge of landmines. But I had no guide to tell me if the BBQ sauce had beer in it. If the fajitas were marinated in soy sauce. Or even if the tortilla chips are corn or flour. I do realize that this is a microbrewery but in 2025 an allergen menu is a must. I try very hard to not review a location based off of "if they cater to food allergies" So, I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich done as a wrap with honey hot sauce and sweet potato fries. The 1st thing I noticed was my fries were tepid. Like they sat for a while waiting for my food. The second was the second was the wet slices of tomato on my "no tomato wrap". Ok fine. They got picked off. As I began to attempt to eat my wrap, the chicken was so tough I could not cut it with the knife provided to me. Once I got a piece cut off I discovered the sauce...initially I thought I was given the wrong sauce because it tasted like buffalo. But as it turns out, honey hot is Buffalo with the addition of honey. As a previous review stated, the honey hot is not good. Like not good at all. So, I told my companion they could have my leftovers cause I would not eat them. The last strike was the unappetizing, dripping wet mess under my wrap when I picked it up to box for left overs. I'm very glad they washed my lettuce!!!! But really a puddle is not what you want when you pick up your wrap. I wanted so badly to say, I'll try something different the next time but the reality is, we won't be back. I'm sorry Uncle Bears team. I really am. First of all, my first glass that came out had food on it. I had to send it back. THE WAIT STAFF DESERVE A 10 out of 10!!!! They are great. They got this nice heat lamp turned on outside for us locals lol. Nice. Exchanged my glass. But the food. Yikes. My fries were OLD AF! They looked good but they were all chewy and just gross. My husband was going to send those back but after the wine glass incident I didn't want to appear a complainer. (If you read my other reviews- I score high and not a complainer- which says a lot about this place) The prime rib sliders he REALLY ENJOYED. My personal opinion is that there could have been a little more meat - but he thought they were amazing. He gives them 7 out of 10 Me- I got the hot honey chicken and I love chicken sandwiches. To be fair, the first time we ate here(about 2 weeks ago) the food was great, service was on point and great atmosphere. Sorry to report not the case this time. We ordered the fish and chips. Everything was over fried and dry. The Cole slaw was unrecognizable as such. If they're making it in house they need a new recipe. The tartar sauce tasted like the cooks just added some pickle relish to mayo and tried to pass it off as eatable. Did I mention we had fried pickles as an appetizer, the taste was good but it looked like it was the last of the bag, nothing but bits and pieces. The cook should never put the plate out and the server should have never served it. The place was busy but it a business wants to keep it that way, they need better quality control. Stopped in for a dinner with a couple of friends on weekday. This was my first time at an Uncle Bear's. The place was slammed with a Holiday crowd. One large dinner party also had about 25 people. Quickly seated on a dog friendly patio and placed our orders. One person in our group seemed to attract the mosquitos in the area and so we found a table inside. We got our order in about 30 plus minutes. Server kept us posted and kitchen was in overdrive. Two people in our party ordered Louie's Brisket Sandwiches with battered fries. I opted for the Coco's PB& J Burger and battered fries Place is very popular, inside is large and open. Patio is fenced and dog friendly. Servers were excellent. This time of year restaurants are busy so need to be patient. This was the second time I have had a PB&J Burger. It was tasty, served with bacon, cheese and a spicy jelly. Slight taste of peanut butter. Other two enjoyed the brisket and burger with bacon on Texas toast. Would describe the food as a big step up from what has been described as bar food. Menu is diverse, lots of burgers, but other salad, sandwiches, and entrees. Got the novelty of A PB&J Burger out of my head. My family and I went for the first time tonight and there was a total of 8 in our group, who were not very easy to serve due to significant food preferences. Sam was our server and she served us with kindness, patience, very attentive, personable and filled with joy/ laughter. She made our stay very comfortable, Cozy and we felt right at home! I love the ambience of this establishment as I am a dog lover. The walls are covered (I mean COVERED) with photos of wonderful dogs and the theme is carried throughout the food and drinks. If you didn't know, the name of the restaurant is from the family pet of the founders. "Bear was a fun-loving, good ol' boy, a cherished black lab mix, and man's best friend to founders Todd and Liz Carey--also affectionally called "Uncle Bear" by the Carey's three nieces." I find that so adorable and special. We were lucky enough to be sat by a couple who had a beautiful pup with them, Stormy, so this made the visit top notch for me personally. There is a large parking lot with spaces in front, on the side, and just beyond the restaurant. Plenty of parking for easy access to the location with lots of various exit routes. I have been to this Uncle Bears many times over the years. It had been quite a while (probably 2+ years) since my last visit so while we were out in the area, my cousin and I stopped in. I just had a water as I was driving (tasted just fine even though a brew would have been better! Lol) but she enjoyed a vodka cranberry and said the balance of flavors was perfect. They brew some of their own beer which I think is awesome. I have tried a few in the past and they were tasty! The kitchen was closed as we arrived around 10 PM ish but during past visits, the food has been good. Our bartender/server was very friendly and pleasant. She made it feel as though she was happy to see us even though we were strangers and coming near closing. She made jokes and shared personal stories as they related to us. I enjoyed her service but sad I can't remember her name as it was a unique one! Will have to try to stop in soon for a visit a little earlier in the day/evening to try out the food again :) although I can't remember the specifics of the items I have tried previously, I am giving the 5 star rating as I have never been disappointed and the service was awesome this visit. read more

We went searching for a place to eat and it was late, I was hangry and probably not a good time to look for a sit down place. Uncle Bears is a fun place to have some tasty beers and maybe a little karaoke, food wise it's bar food and burgers that I would try again. We had sliders that were just ok. My husband ordered the prime rib sliders ($17.99) and steak fries, there was not much meat but they tasted good and his fries were pipping hot, he had water to drink. I had a wheat beer that was really good and the "Arizona Sliders" ($16.79) with ice cold "seasoned fries". We each got four sliders with an order they were mostly bread and as I said, his tasted good, mine were lunch meat turkey, 1/4 of an avocado was used as well as two slices of precooked bacon, (between all four sliders) it also had the usual lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard & Swiss. We also had a pretzel for an appetizer that was amazing, so was the beer cheese that came with it. Needless to say we should of grabbed Subway or pizza to go, for the money the sliders weren't worth it but we both agreed we'd try it again for the burgers or to stop for a beer or two. So, I have eaten at uncle bears many times. I've never had a bad experience, which is why I am giving this particular review three stars. If my experience with the restaurant were based solely on this one visit, I probably would give it one or two. The burger shown in the picture is the one that I ordered. With bacon added, and tip, you're looking at a $25 meal. I picked it up about 25 minutes after placing the order and it was already nearing room temperature. No condiments so it seemed a bit dry. The menu describes the burger as having blue cheese dressing and crumbles. They must have forgotten the dressing, because there were only crumbles. It tasted fine, but not $20 good. While I commend the speed of preparation, I feel like the quality, portion size and amount of fries included is really more reflective of $15. Normally I enjoy eating at Uncle Bear's, but I can't recommend it for takeout. It's the kind of place you want to go when you have time to sit down and have a few beers and you would like to take your dog with you or catch up with some friends. If you want a burger or sandwich to pick up for work or dinner, this is not the right choice. That's probably the vibe they are aiming for so I'm sure this will not break their heart. And my fish and chips were a solid okay, but my brother in law had the same thing and loved it. My sister in law had the grilled chicken which was sliced and smothered in cheese, which she always orders and loves. My husband went with a BLT and was perfectly happy. We have eaten at Uncle Bear's a handful of times the past couple of years. Every visit has been pretty consistent. A few things I like about the place is the layout is cool. There is a wrap around bar and an outside patio. Very nice set up to have a few drinks while watching a game. Service has been good. Dog friendly. Kids eat free on Wednesday. Food has always came out fast. As far as the food goes the flavor is lacking. I have tried 5 different burgers because that's what the place mostly sells and all of them are like eating when you have a cold. I figured sooner or later I would find a good one but I give up. The meat patty is something different they do and it is thin like a McDs burger patty. So, if you like well done, you're good. They also sell a standard beef patty that is also tasteless. The buns are very fresh and soft but you guessed it...bland. I am done with the bland burgers. At $17 I have given up on the burgers here. Tonight, my side caesar salad was actually really good. By far the best thing I have ever had here. I never imagined a side salad would be 100x better than the burger but it happened here. New for 2023 the owners have decided to charge a "Connivence Fee" for paying by card. Not cool. They also use those devices to pay by card that the server hands you and you pay the tip while they stand at your table. I feel they are awkward. Have had decent experiences here prior, but ordered a 'bowl' of their beer soup only to be served the equivalent of a cup and charged $8 while watching the staff hand out free food and beverages to staff and their families leave literally a bad taste in my mouth. Never again and I live in the neighborhood. A bowl should be served as a bowl. Such a sad way to skimp on the serving to their patrons. My husband and I went to Uncle Bear's for dinner tonight and needless to say once again we were disappointed. After waiting for over 30 minutes after ordering our food we watched tables that came in after us get their food. When the manager brought food directly across from us their food that was the final straw. Our server finally saw me stand up and as she walked over to us she said her machine must have frozen up and our order didn't get accepted. The manager on duty kinda of chuckled and said well I'm sorry and walked away. Needless to say this is the third strike here and we definitely won't be back. We make it a point to try some place new every Saturday night. This weekend, Uncle Bear's was it. I saw this spot when visiting my dentist a few doors down and wanted to see what they offer. I decided on a Backyard Punch to drink, it was incredibly refreshing! My husband had a margarita. I was happy to see so many options outside burgers, and then I found the Ace's Black and Blue. I love trying my favorites from other places to see how they contend with each other. This had to be one of my favorites, I ate every bite! Non of the flavors overpowered the others, just enough mix of everything. I had a side of fries and wasn't able to finish all of them, the burger was that filling! There are several big screen TV's on site, and my husband was happy to catch some of the Steelers game. I love the back yard feel with the chain link fence ambiance. Service by Manager Tanya and Bartender Hayley was really friendly and on point. I had the Ace burger(covered with delicious bleu cheese crumbles) medium rare(perfectly cooked). I've had the beer from this brewery at a few festivals and restaurants. The Stout is delish. We stopped here for a bite and a drink after hiking at Superstition Mountains.
